Let's start over, Your Majesty.
Chapter 187 Parents' Open Day
Chapter 187 Parents' Open Day
On December 22nd, the Saint-Yalo Academy was bustling with unprecedented activity.
The school gate was beautifully decorated, with flowerbeds adorned with the most vibrant flowers lined both sides of the avenue. A group of student representatives lined up at the gate to welcome the students. Well-dressed gentlemen and ladies, accompanied by their children, stepped out of their parked cars and strode confidently into the campus.
A white Volkswagen Foton was parked at the street corner.
"Hoo," Yumilia said, clutching her chest and taking a deep breath.
"Don't be nervous, don't be nervous," she kept whispering.
"The assembly isn't until the afternoon; it's still early," Caesar reassured her.
"But my chest is still thumping so hard," Yumilia said, rubbing her chest.
"Haven't we rehearsed so many times? It's okay, just let it happen naturally." Caesar patted her back.
Freya sat across from her daughter, watching her anxious expression, and couldn't help but smile.
“It feels like seeing you going to participate in the school's arts performance, Yumilia,” she said.
“I…I’m not a little girl anymore, Mom,” Yumilia said, blushing.
"Okay, I got it. Good luck. To be honest, if I could, I really wanted to participate and see what you'd look like on stage for the first time," Freya said regretfully.
As a member of Caesar's family, she wasn't without opportunities to participate, but she was always tied up with company business and could only come to visit briefly when things were almost over.
“Well then, we’ll be going now, Freya,” Caesar said.
"See you."
After getting off the car, Caesar and Yumilia walked together into the campus.
As they entered the campus, they attracted a lot of attention. However, this time it seemed that it wasn't like the first day of school when everyone was curious about their strange combination, but something else entirely.
"Good morning, Caesar,"
"morning."
"Caesar, good morning, Auntie."
"Oh? Okay, hello."
Along the way, students kept greeting Caesar and Yumilia.
“Caesar, you’re quite popular,” Yumilia murmured as she lowered her hand from her greeting.
This popularity stemmed from the previous attack on the expo. After Caesar's heroic deeds were revealed, coupled with his consistently excellent grades, placing him among the top three in his grade, many students approached him. His gentle and friendly nature made him very popular. As for the conflicts between him and the princess at the beginning of the school year, it seems that no one cares about them anymore.
“Shouldn’t we be happy that the child is popular?” Caesar said.
“Of course I’d be happy,” Yumilia said happily. “If Caesar becomes more and more popular, he’ll grow up to be a big celebrity. I’ll feel very important walking down the street, and everyone will know I’m a member of the Caesar family. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?”
"Okay, I'll work harder in the future and strive to become a world-famous celebrity," Caesar said, shrugging.
“Caesar is amazing! That’s a wonderful ideal,” Yumilia said happily.
Caesar smiled faintly.
This is more than just an ideal.
They came to the corridor outside the classroom and ran into Richard's family.
"Caesar, it's been a long time," he said with a smile as he stepped forward to greet them, followed by his wife, who also smiled and greeted them.
"Greetings, Lady Yumilia."
"Yes, hello." Yumilia quickly returned the greeting.
"Good morning, Mr. Richard," Caesar greeted politely.
“How have you been lately? Celia talks about you a lot at home, saying that you always rank first in your class, and that no one can compare to you except Princess Sia,” Richard said.
“Dad.” Celia tugged at her father’s sleeve, embarrassed.
"I was just fulfilling my duty as a student. Besides, everyone at school was working very hard, and that intense sense of competition was what motivated me." Caesar just smiled slightly.
“If all students had your level of awareness, we wouldn’t have to worry about a lack of outstanding talent,” Richard said.
Then he looked at Yumilia and said with a smile:
"By the way, congratulations, Mrs. Yumilia. It is an immense honor to be able to showcase your child's excellence in front of the entire school."
"Ah, yes, yes, I, I've been very nervous too, haha, my heart is pounding right now," Yumilia said, patting her chest, and laughed awkwardly a few times.
They exchanged pleasantries as they entered the classroom. Several parents were already seated inside, with rows of chairs arranged in the back where they would soon be watching their children's lessons.
Caesar found Yumilia a seat in the back and settled her down.
“Caesar, should I go and say hello to your teachers later?” Yumilia asked.
“You can go if you want. There’s a talk with the teacher and parents later,” Caesar said. Seeing that Yumilia still looked nervous, he took a piece of chocolate from his pocket and handed it to her.
"Thank you."
Yumilia took a small bite, and the sweet taste eased her inner tension.
"If you're thirsty, there's some juice here, but don't drink too much, or you'll have trouble in the afternoon." Caesar handed her a bottle of freshly squeezed juice.
He usually controls Yumilia's sweets intake, but today is an exception; sweet things can temporarily distract her.
Yumilia took small bites of chocolate and sipped her juice when a greeting came from behind her.
"Good morning, Caesar!"
Tish arrived at the classroom with her parents. Her mother, Fiona, was as beautiful as ever, while her father, Kent, wore a stern expression, with the coldness typical of a soldier.
After greeting Caesar, Tess then noticed the petite girl beside him.
"Hello, Auntie! It's been so long!"
"You, you are..." Yumilia opened her mouth as she looked at Tess, but suddenly forgot her name.
"It's Tess. I've seen her so many times before, haven't I? Auntie is so forgetful," Tess said disappointedly.
"Oh, Testis, I'm so sorry, but thank you so much for taking care of my Caesar at school," Yumilia said awkwardly.
"It's alright, I'm just glad you'll remember me. Actually, I've always wanted to be friends with such a cute elf like you," Tess said with a smile.
"Ah, this, this."
"Tess, don't do anything impolite," Kent said sternly from the side.
"Please don't be so shy, Lady Yumilia. Your cuteness is something everyone would envy," Fiona said with a smile, moving closer to Yumilia and sitting down next to her like a close friend.
Seeing his wife like this, Kent helplessly rubbed his forehead and sat down in the seat next to Fiona.
Fiona chatted with Yumilia like girls gossiping, talking about all sorts of things, and Yumilia responded with a lot of pleasantries.
Caesar turned his head and saw Leon bringing his mother in, who was pointing at his textbooks, homework, and report card.
Leon was much more restrained in front of his mother than usual, but he seemed very impatient, as if every extra word was torture.
There was a commotion outside. Sia, who was always the center of attention wherever she went, and her adoptive mother Manslivy arrived in the classroom, and many people immediately went up to talk to her.
Manslivie remained as elegant and graceful as ever, skillfully engaging in conversation with officials from all sides. However, Caesar felt, perhaps it was just his imagination, that her mental strength had weakened considerably since the last time he had seen her, and he wondered what had happened during that time.
Enlid hasn't arrived yet; he's very busy and can't afford to waste a single second. He'll only appear at the afternoon assembly.
As Sia dealt with the various flattering greetings that came up to her, she unconsciously met Caesar's gaze amidst the crowd.
Caesar nodded to her naturally, then looked away.
It seems that some kind of communication between the two was completed at this moment.
At this moment, Ms. Taylor arrived at the classroom and chatted with the parents about the situation at school.
A short while later, the preparatory bell rang, and the students said goodbye to their parents and returned to their seats.
As soon as she sat down, Tess gestured towards Caesar with her lip.
"Look, they seem to be having a pleasant conversation."
She was referring to Yumilia and Fiona, who were still chatting enthusiastically. However, it seemed that Yumilia was simply listening to Fiona talk on and on. Yumilia ultimately knew very little about the topics that upper-class ladies were interested in, and could only keep agreeing with them.
Fiona seemed to find it quite pleasant to simply talk to such adorable little elves.
"Hehe, it's obvious she's not quite used to it yet," Caesar chuckled.
"Tsk, she's been nagging on and on since she arrived, it's so annoying," Leon slammed his textbook on the table in a huff.
"Alright, Aunt Green is only doing this for your own good. Just bear with it if you talk too much, it'll pass soon," Tess said.
"Hmph, just bear with it. If it weren't for me..."
Leon seemed to want to say something, but noticing Tess's warning look, he clicked his tongue in annoyance and shut up.
The school bell rang, and the chatter among the parents in the back quieted down as they waited for the teacher to arrive.
"It's Monday, and the first class is... uh, Magical Zoology," Caesar realized suddenly when he looked at the schedule.
At that moment, the classroom door opened, and a petite and beautiful figure walked in, a slender dragon tail swaying behind her. Holding the classroom teaching materials, she stood by the podium.
Amidst the murmurs of the parents behind her, Ita put down her textbook and said calmly:
"Dear parents, good morning. I am Ita Holonig, the temporary substitute teacher for the Magical Creatures course at St. Yaro. Welcome to all parents for your support and suggestions for the school's work. However, please keep quiet during my class."
"Now, let's begin the lesson."
