Chapter 185 No Work Today [Seeking Monthly Tickets!]
"There will be an open day for parents next Monday. The school has already sent the details to your home mailbox. Please remember to tell your parents about it."
At the end of school today, Ms. Taylor informed the whole class of this news.
St. Yaro's annual Parents' Open Day invites students' relatives to visit the academy, learn about their children's learning, curriculum, and academy life, and also invites parents of student representatives from each grade to speak on stage.
It was essentially an upgraded version of a parents' meeting, and also a power gathering of the kingdom's top brass.
This was unlike any ordinary gathering before. Every year, the parents' open day at St. Yaro Academy would be attended by the man at the pinnacle of power in the kingdom, Chancellor Enrid Marshall.
This is also an opportunity for most mid- to low-level officials to come into contact with them, so they attach great importance to it.
"Sigh, another open day. Every open day in elementary school was like a public execution for me," Leon sighed.
"Were you very naughty in elementary school?" Caesar asked Leon.
“That’s not true. Every time there’s an open day at our elementary school, the principal criticizes some of the kids who are behaving badly. Although they don’t announce their names, we all know who they are,” Tess said with a chuckle.
“It’s better not to be anonymous,” Leon muttered. “Some things I didn’t do, but just because I didn’t say my name, everyone assumes it was me.”
"Well, you've been much more well-behaved now, at least I haven't seen you do anything outrageous anymore," Caesar said.
"There's nothing I can do. I finally got into St. Illustrated. This isn't like a primary school. When he says he's going to drop out, he really means it," Leon said helplessly.
"Caesar, you stay behind. The rest of you can go home," said Mr. Taylor.
"I guess he wants to talk to you about the parent representative giving a speech," Leon said.
On the open day, two student parent representatives from each grade will be selected to speak on stage. Generally, these are the students with the best academic performance. The results of the last phase test were also released today, and the top two are still Caesar and Sia.
Xia's adoptive father will definitely speak on stage; this is practically a pre-arranged decision, so there's no need to explain it to her in detail. Since it's her first time on stage, we need to explain the situation to him.
After Leon and Tess said goodbye to him, Caesar came to Taylor's side.
“We plan to have her give a speech as a student representative on Open Day. If there are no problems, we can start making the arrangements,” Taylor said to Caesar.
"I'll have to go back and discuss this with her, because I'm not entirely sure if she wants to participate," Caesar said.
"If possible, that would be wonderful. Also," Taylor paused, then continued, "Caesar, as you know, she's an elf, and relatively young for a human, and her temperament..."
Taylor seemed to want to be more tactful, but he only wanted to express one thing: he was afraid that Yumilia would cause problems when she went on stage.
“I know that, teacher,” Caesar smiled helplessly. “Don’t worry, I’ll handle it. There won’t be any problems.”
Taylor nodded. He had a high degree of trust and reassurance in the young man in front of him, feeling that if he gave his assurance, then there really wouldn't be any problems.
He then explained some things that Caesar needed to pay attention to, and Caesar didn't come out of the classroom for about half an hour.
Back at his doorstep, Caesar found the invitation to the parents' open day from the school in the mailbox at the entrance of the apartment building. It was on a beautiful brown letterhead with the school emblem of St. Illustrated School on it.
I took it upstairs, opened the door, and Yumilia's silvery laughter echoed from inside the house.
Today is her day off, she didn't go to work. She took Ita out for a walk in the morning, and stayed home in the afternoon.
She was lying on the sofa, enjoying the warmth of the heater, eating pudding and listening to the radio. Her long, gray hair was loose, and she was only wearing a casual sweater that just covered her upper thighs, revealing her fair and slender legs. Her two calves swung back and forth easily behind her, and one foot was not properly wearing a sock, which was lying on the sofa to the side, revealing the rosy sole. Her cute big toe was sticking up and swinging happily.
On her days off, Yumilia is just as unkempt as any other little girl.
The radio was probably too loud, because she didn't hear Caesar come in. She was still eating pudding and snacks, laughing heartily at the jokes on the radio.
Caesar stepped forward and knelt down beside her, tidying up the snack wrappers on the coffee table. Only then did Yumilia notice his return. "Caesar, you're back!"
Yumilia quickly stood up, her face flushing with embarrassment.
"I can handle these." She quickly took the trash can and started tidying up the snack bags on the coffee table.
"I've told you so many times, don't eat so many snacks at once, it's bad for your health," Caesar said helplessly.
“It’s alright, I’m an adult, there’s no need to worry,” Yumilia said, patting her flat chest, with some cookie crumbs still on the corner of her mouth.
"Sir, could you please put your socks on properly? You might catch a cold."
Yumilia blushed, quickly grabbed some cotton socks from the sofa and put them on her little feet, then started tidying up the table.
Caesar then took out the report cards that had been issued that day and placed them on the coffee table.
"These are your scores from the last academic test. Please sign them."
"Oh, okay." Yumilia picked up the report card.
"Wow, you're number one again, Caesar! That's amazing!" she exclaimed. After signing her name, she smiled and asked Caesar, "Caesar studies so hard, what reward would you like me to give you?"
“Well, it’s not something to be proud of,” Caesar said.
“That kind of mentality won’t work, Caesar,” Yumilia said seriously, holding up one finger. “You have to be rewarded for your hard work; that’s a fundamental principle of life.”
She smiled slightly, opened her arms to Caesar, and said, "So, don't be shy, take as much as you want from me."
"Very well, then, I'd like a sumptuous dinner, is that alright?" Caesar had no choice but to say.
“Of course! I’ll make it for Caesar tonight!” Yumilia said.
She was about to get up to prepare ingredients for dinner when she noticed the brown letter Caesar was holding.
"Hmm? Who sent the letter?" She pointed to the letter.
“This was sent by the school; it’s for you.” Caesar handed over the letter.
"For me?"
Yumilia took the letter with a puzzled look, opened it, and found two letters inside. She picked up one of them and began to read:
"Dear Ms. Yumilia Thranduil, Greetings! Our school cordially invites you to attend our Parents' Open Day on December 22nd to learn about Caesar Thranduil's time at our school."
As she read, her eyes widened slightly.
"It's an open day! This is my first time attending this gathering."
In the past, Caesar's primary school did not have the custom of open days. Parents were only occasionally invited to some school gatherings, and they attended on their own.
This was Yumilia's first time attending such a large-scale school event.
“Well, we’d better prepare well for that day; we can’t let Caesar down.” A serious expression appeared on her face.
“Indeed, we need to prepare well, but not because of that,” Caesar said, pointing to another letter in the envelope.
Yumilia opened another letter.
"Dear Ms. Yumilia Thranduil, I am honored to inform you that your son has been named the school's Outstanding Student for this quarter due to his excellent academic performance. We would also like to invite you to spare some time during the Parents' Open Day on December 22nd to speak as a representative of the first-grade students, sharing your experiences and insights on raising your child."
As Yumilia read, her expression became blank.
"Does this mean I have to go on stage and give a speech in front of the entire school?"
