Chapter 132 Another Elf
Chapter 132 Another Elf
"Elves?"
Caesar was surprised; he had never thought of this before.
It's only now that I realize I've been ignoring this possibility.
Given its long lifespan and remarkable achievements in ecological research, it is indeed very likely that it is an elf.
However, it's truly unexpected that the legendary Professor Muirner actually has such a lively and girlish personality.
The female researcher with the ponytail looked at Caesar and said with a guilty expression:
"I'm really sorry, our professor is being immature and always likes to play pranks on people. If it has caused you any trouble, I apologize on her behalf."
The highly respected professor also put his hands behind his back, leaned forward, and smiled slightly at Caesar:
"Sorry, just kidding. You won't be mad at me, will you, little one?"
Gazing at that charming, radiant smile, as sweet as a childhood sweetheart's, Caesar's lips twitched.
"Of course not, Professor. You have a really good sense of humor, haha."
"Professor Muirner, please don't play such childish pranks again," the female researcher said, frowning.
"Okay, Xiao Zhu."
"Please call me by my real name, Zhu Liang."
"Okay, good luck."
The real "Little Zhu" sighed helplessly and looked at Caesar: "By the way, judging from your school uniform, are you a student of Saint Yaro? What brings you to the Institute of Ecology?"
“My ecology teacher asked me to come here. We cultivated a mutated snowdrop in class.”
Caesar then picked up the pot of snow lotus that was placed on the side table.
Zhu Liang walked over, adjusted her round-framed glasses, and observed the snowflake:
"Snow Flower? It's indeed very rare for it to undergo such a mutation. I've never seen one before."
Then she looked at Muirner to the side.
The elf smiled at her with narrowed eyes: "I know."
That expression makes him look like a child secretly delighted by a great secret.
“In that case, please answer the child’s question,” Zhu Liang said.
"So, if I solve it, can I have a day off tomorrow?" Muirner asked.
“Answering children’s questions is also our job. Please don’t use this to blackmail us for a holiday,” Zhu Liang said seriously.
“Alright then,” Muirner said, looking quite disappointed.
"At most, we won't pursue the matter of you sneaking off to slack off earlier," Zhu Liang added.
"Sigh, Xiao Zhu, you're so stingy," Muirna muttered under his breath.
She then looked at Caesar and beckoned to him: "Come with me, little boy, I'll tell you what it is."
"Oh, good, good."
Caesar was now somewhat disoriented. The image in his mind before he came was completely shattered. How could he have imagined that this highly respected professor would be like this in the Institute of Ecology?
She's just like a clueless little girl.
"Please hurry, Professor. The wetland park is still waiting for your restoration work. That should have been done two weeks ago," Zhu Liang said.
“Okay, I know, Xiao Zhu, you’re so long-winded,” Muirna said.
She led Caesar away from the cabin and headed towards the outside of the greenhouse.
"Professor, where are we going?" Caesar asked.
“Go and make it bloom,” Muirna said, pointing to the flowerpot in Caesar’s arms.
Caesar didn't ask any more questions, he just stayed by the professor's side.
“By the way, your name is Caesar, right?” Muirner asked. “Yes.”
"Can I call you Xiao Sa from now on?" she asked with a smile, her eyes narrowed.
"..." Caesar's lips twitched. "Please, do as you please."
"Shouldn't Xiao Sa have just started school this year? First grade?"
“First grade, class one,” Caesar replied.
"Class One? I remember that only students with exceptionally good grades can get into Class One, right? Xiao Sa, you're really amazing," Muirna exclaimed.
"Thanks."
Normally, being praised by such a top scholar of the kingdom would be a great honor, but Muirna's words sounded like the polite greeting of an old lady at the door.
Throughout the journey, Muirna kept finding various topics to ask him, such as what he ate for lunch at the school cafeteria, how he got there, and whether he encountered anything fun on the way.
They have an exceptionally strong desire to communicate.
Along the way, every researcher he passed would greet Muirner, but not with the respect due to a superior; rather, it was more like a greeting between friends.
It seems that the director gets along well with everyone in this ecological institute.
Muirna led him to the wall of the Ecological Institute, where there was a two-story residential building.
This small building has a small yard filled with lush green cabbages, and there's even a small chicken coop next to it, where a plump hen is nestled on the straw, fast asleep.
"Wait a minute, Sassa," Muirna said, walking up to the henhouse, bending down and taking out two round eggs, which he then put into his pocket.
Then he took out a handful of plump ears of wheat from his pocket, scattered them in the feeding trough in front of the chicken coop, and patted the plump hen.
"You've worked hard laying eggs today, cluck cluck."
"Cluck cluck." The hen crowed twice in response.
"Okay, let's go in."
Muirner took out her key and opened the door, taking off her mud-covered boots and gardening clothes at the entrance.
"Come in, no need to change your shoes."
She went inside, and Caesar followed behind.
The cabin's interior rooms weren't very large, perhaps because the books, documents, and plant specimens in boxes took up too much space, making it appear much smaller.
This must be the dean's residence. As soon as Caesar entered the house, he smelled the same forest scent he had just caught in the rainforest.
His gaze fell upon the paintings hanging on the wall.
What caught his attention was that all of these paintings were drawn by immature children, depicting messy and nonsensical things.
"These are drawings made by children from a school who visited the Institute of Ecology. I thought some of them were quite interesting, so I kept them and framed them."
Muirner noticed that he was looking at the paintings on the wall and casually explained.
“This is my favorite one. Look, isn’t it full of imagination?” she said, pointing to one of the paintings.
Although the painting was messy, it was still barely recognizable as depicting a child. The blazing sun in the sky was held in his hand like a balloon, and he was surrounded by children of different races. They stood together harmoniously, holding hands, with towering, lush trees behind them.
"This child's drawing is particularly interesting. When he was drawing, I asked him why he turned the sun into a balloon. He said it was because he heard that plants need sunlight to grow fast. If the sun is tied up, the plants can get sunlight both day and night and will grow more lush. Also, all the children who are afraid of the dark will dare to go out at night."
After her introduction, she smiled at Caesar and said, "Isn't it interesting?"
“Indeed. But wouldn’t that make it impossible to sleep at night?” Caesar said.
“Haha, that’s what I asked him too, and then that kid thought about it and said to me, ‘Let’s add a switch to the sun, so that when everyone wants to sleep, we can turn the sun off, and when everyone wakes up, we can turn it back on,’” Muirner said.
"Kids these days are so much more interesting than they used to be. And look at this..."
She wanted to introduce other paintings to Caesar, but quickly remembered why she had brought him here, and hurriedly tapped her head.
"I forgot. Xiao Sa, wait for me for a moment. I'm going to change my clothes. Oh, right, put that flower in the humidifier, the one on the table."
