Unknown Intrusion
Chapter 67 Persuasion
Chapter 67 Persuasion
Perhaps it's because Su Yu didn't start with Song Shuying, as Song Shuying currently only has a [favorability rating of 3].
This is the goodwill I had accumulated from knowing about Su Yu's situation before. It was originally 5 points, but it's obvious that he thought my actions just now were nonsense, so it dropped by 2 points.
Song Qiongyao blushed and wanted to say something, but Su Yu stopped her.
Since the Baron didn't believe them at all, and this was the city hall office, Su Yu didn't want to argue and further damage their reputation. Feeling depressed, she walked out of the serious office.
Cai Jiang may have indeed done something to make the Baron trust him so much—could it be that he invested in shares?
But to be honest, Su Yu didn't know the boss's true strength either.
"It's okay, even if you guessed wrong, it's fine, I don't mind." Song Qiongyao's gloved hand gently covered Su Yu's hand.
"The knight (also referred to as a baron) is right. To ambush a fleet, it is indeed a different fleet."
"Although Cai Jiang is a member of the Cai family, he is from a collateral branch and doesn't seem to be someone who has the resources to do so."
"I can't provide enough evidence to accuse this gentleman, and what I'm saying is particularly outrageous. It's really hard to believe."
With a long sigh, Su Yu solemnly promised, "But I'm not joking about this. There really is someone planning to attack the fleet."
A fire seemed to be burning in my heart. What was Cai Jiang doing now?
Is it almost a success?
No matter what, I will change this future!
Without realizing it, Su Yu subconsciously gripped her hand back, tightening his grip. The girl was startled, but didn't pull her hand away. She remained silent for a moment before speaking, "You're not the type to talk nonsense."
"But perhaps I misread it, guessed it wrong, or was deceived."
Looking into those clear, spring-like eyes, Su Yu gritted his teeth, thought for a moment, and then shook his head heavily.
"No, the fleet is really in danger."
“I want to believe you, but what Father said also makes sense…”
The girl looked somewhat embarrassed.
"Then let's investigate!" Su Yu's eyes were bright. He realized that he lacked experience and had made some mistakes in the steps.
"Sea routes that are essential for going out to sea, docks, experienced and good captains, sailors, and purchased supplies."
With red eyes, Su Yu spoke to her, word by word.
"According to convention, the area beyond 30 nautical miles is all dangerous waters, and ordinary ships dare not venture there at all, and even if they do, they cannot return."
"Only by assembling a large fleet, fully armed, can we dare to explore—at least a dozen or several dozen ships, hundreds of experienced captains and sailors, and carrying more than six months' worth of supplies."
"With so many people, it's impossible for them to remain silent. With a little investigation, it won't take much effort at all."
"Please, we're sure we'll find something!"
Song Qiongyao bit her lip, looking at him with a complicated expression. Her profile, illuminated by the morning sun, suddenly flushed red.
"Then I'll talk to my father again and beg him!" She realized that going to the city hall was not a good idea, but since Su Yu had pleaded so earnestly, she naturally had to help.
And, inexplicably, she seemed to be in a better mood. Su Yu watched her lighthearted figure as he gently knocked on the office door.
She went in, but Su Yu didn't, though the door was ajar.
"Father, I hope you can put aside your work for a while and take some time to listen to something I have to say."
"...Xiao Yao, this is the City Hall."
Unlike his attitude towards outsiders, he spoke with a sigh, as if dealing with a child's whim.
"Father, it's been a long time since I asked you for anything... Please listen carefully before making a decision, okay?"
"Alright then." The man reluctantly put down his pen and looked at his daughter.
"You've always had a lot of ideas, how are you going to convince me this time?" Song Shuying seemed to be looking forward to it.
"If the argument is reasonable, I'm willing to change my mind."
"Su Yu is a prospective member of the Green Vine Society. Hasn't Father taken notice?" the black-haired girl revealed.
"Qing Teng Society, oh, is he the top student of this year? He seems quite good." Sir Song pondered. He actually knew, but just now, he hadn't thought much about it, only assuming it was just kids fooling around.
After her daughter mentioned it, she became more attentive.
"Hmm... Could it be that he got the information from there? He's not even a full member yet, how could he be qualified to know about things at this level?"
The baron still seemed somewhat distrustful.
“Some things can be clarified by investigation, right? This should be easy for my family, shouldn’t it?” Song Qiongyao relayed Su Yu’s guesses and thoughts.
Gradually, Sir Song's expression changed from nonchalant to serious.
"These are documents and ledgers. Su Yu said he couldn't understand them, and I couldn't understand them either." Song Qiongyao handed him a file folder, which he took and quickly flipped through.
Clearly, Song Shuying could understand it. After flipping through a few pages, her expression became serious. She rang the bell, and someone immediately came in.
"Sir, you wanted to see me?" It was a man in his thirties, an office assistant, who looked shrewd and capable. He glanced at Song Qiongyao.
"Check this information carefully and make a list for me!"
"Yes!"
"Oh, Father, may I borrow your cat ears?" Song Qiongyao said as she watched him leave. Then, Sir Song leaned in and whispered something in her ear.
From Su Yu's perspective, he couldn't hear it.
"What? He's already a semi-professional—are you serious?"
The Baron first showed a look of surprise and then solemnly glanced at Su Yu outside.
"It's true, Father." The girl's voice, as pure and melodious as an expensive musical instrument, echoed throughout the office as she assured him.
Seeing his resolute expression, the man felt inexplicably gratified.
"I agreed to investigate Cai Jiang, as well as the fleets in the nearby territories and the docks for their upcoming sea voyages."
The baron didn't call for anyone again. He took a black iron box from the drawer and opened it with his ring.
The box, which opens on its own like flower petals, reveals a black crystal base.
I don't know how he did it, but the surface of the crystal suddenly shone with a radiance, as if words were reflected on it.
"Spell Communication, Remote Contact!"
"Damn, this is too much!" If it were a native, they wouldn't understand these things, but if Su Yu were here, he would feel a strong sense of déjà vu.
He will come to a deeper understanding once again that this world is different from the world he knew.
The dark clouds outside the window had already blocked out the sunlight, and the rain was getting heavier. The pale gray sky made people feel unhappy.
"Su Yu, right?"
"The initial response is indeed problematic, but we'll have to wait for the investigation results to find out the specifics."
This continued for 15 minutes. The Baron's expression had become as solemn as an iceberg. He called Su Yu in and spoke directly.
"I've already remotely notified the fleet to go on high alert immediately. However, this is none of your business. You're a student; just focus on your studies!"
The Baron stood up, patted Su Yu's shoulder lightly, and joked, "If we let you take risks like this, then we adults would lose face."
