Unknown Intrusion

Chapter 55 Train

Chapter 55 Train
"This is dangerous." The old man from the Wu family seemed to know a lot, and advised, "This person seems to specialize in dirty work..."

“This is Bedfordshire. Whether you stay at my house or arrange for you to leave, it’s all fine.”

Xu Cheng nodded apologetically and said, "I'm sorry to have caused you trouble, but it's only in Bedfordshire, so I know he wouldn't dare to do anything reckless."

Xu Cheng gave a bitter smile: "At least on the surface, he is a very well-behaved gentleman. A bad reputation would be very detrimental to him."

"Also, since I'm leaving, I should at least say goodbye to my boss... even though we don't have any formal employment relationship."

"But now that I think about it, perhaps I'm repeating my grandfather's mistake, and I've been deceived by him too."

"Is that so? You don't need to blame yourself too much... Your grandfather wasn't incompetent. The person who could deceive your grandfather was very deceptive..."

"Before the incident, no one could have imagined that he would do such a thing..."

“After all, he is a member of the Cai family!” Old Master Wu sighed. “I’ll arrange a carriage for you, at least to escort you onto the train.”

"I am very grateful for your help, but it's really not necessary." Xu Cheng bowed deeply, picked up his cane, and left the room.

The boss sat quietly in the reception room with only one attendant.

The maid was bending down to brew black tea.

The sound of tea being poured into the porcelain cups echoed in the spacious room, so clean and subtle that it could be heard almost immediately.

"I apologize for disturbing you and know it is impolite, but please allow me to see Mr. Wu."

"This trip was a last-minute decision, so I was unable to submit my visiting card in advance. Please convey my apologies to them."

When Xu Cheng arrived at the reception room, he heard a familiar voice.

Without hesitation, they went inside.

In an instant, their gazes met.

"Mr. Cai!" Xu Cheng no longer addressed him as "boss" and bowed slightly.

The boss had a gentle smile on his face, but his expression stiffened noticeably when he heard Xu Cheng say that.

An unspoken silence fell, and the boss's eyes darkened as he looked at Xu Cheng.

A chilling coldness spread down my spine... It was the scent of death. In the corner of my eye, a red figure seemed to appear.

My vision blurred for a moment, and the illusion shattered like sand.

"Bang!" His heart clenched heavily, his forehead was covered in a fine sweat, and the pressure that chilled him to the bone made his body feel heavy.

Clenching his teeth, Xu Cheng straightened his back and met the gaze head-on with a firm look.

He cannot back down no matter what!

The boss's expression clearly showed surprise.

This Xu Cheng is a bit different.

“Sir, sir…” The elderly butler seemed to have noticed something and stepped between the two, thus shielding Xu Cheng from the pressure he was under.

Xu Cheng felt a sudden lightness throughout his body; his professional strength was too much of a restraint on me!
"Mr. Cai, what are you doing?" the butler asked in a serious tone with a hint of warning.

"It's nothing, just seeing an acquaintance and saying hello." The boss even smiled and nodded slightly to Xu Cheng.

The way the boss greeted the customer was as if he were a regular acquaintance. Contrary to expectations, the boss seemed rather calm.

Biting his lower lip, Xu Cheng took a deep look, not wanting to cause any further conflict, and strode away through the door.

The sound of hurried footsteps echoed from the corridor behind him, and Xu Cheng's left hand was already inside his pocket.

"Xu Cheng!" The servant who followed behind the boss stopped ten steps away, looking warily at Xu Cheng's hand.

"Listen, I'm just here to deliver a message."

Xu Cheng narrowed his eyes slightly: "Oh? What do you want to say?" "The boss said that if you kneel like a dog outside the Wu family's gate, he will forgive you this time."

A surge of immense anger rose within him, but Xu Cheng firmly contained it within his chest, preventing him from making any impolite move.

At the very least, no one should be killed in the Wu family compound.

"Go back and tell Cai Jiang." Xu Cheng heard his own voice, like the chilling wind blowing through bare branches on a gloomy winter day.

"Five years ago, I owed him half my life, so I did his dirty work for five years. Now all the debts have been repaid... I no longer owe him anything, and he is no longer my boss."

"This concludes our cooperation."

"Tell Cai Jiang that I already know about my grandfather's debts, and now it's his turn to give the Xu family an explanation!" Xu Cheng gripped the gun handle tightly.

"Did he really say that?" A moment later, after leaving the Wu family's gate and sitting in the carriage, Cai Jiang looked back coldly.

"Yes, that's what he said." The servant knelt on the ground, covered in sweat, but dared not move. "I didn't change a single word."

"Very good, very good, you've really made something of yourself, Xu family lad!" Upon hearing the reply, the boss's face turned ashen, and he gritted his teeth.

"Wow—"

Everything on the table was knocked off, and the exquisite porcelain pieces were shattered all over the floor.

"Bastard! Bastard! How dare you talk tough like that!"

"Even your grandfather is dead, and you still dare to make threats!"

"In my eyes, you'll always be a dog!"

After hurling his anger, the boss got off the carriage, walked a few steps with his hands behind his back, and finally calmed down from his rage.

Turning around again, the servant had already skillfully retreated to a corner, carefully avoiding the shards and the angry boss.

"What are you hiding from now on?" Seeing the servant's appearance, the boss's temper flared up again, his eyes filled with disdain.

He paused for a moment, then asked, "Did he buy a night ticket?"

"Yes, the night ticket is half price."

"Go quickly and send a telegram to inform them to do it on the train!" The boss grinned maliciously. "Trains are relatively safe at night, but do you think he'll dare to jump off?"

"Three hours, three hours at most, I need to see the body!"

The train sped through the night.

Through three layers of blinds and thick black curtains that could almost cut a sweater, it was pitch black outside the window.

There seemed to be a rustling sound, carried by the chill air through the cracks.

Xu Cheng didn't look out the window, didn't draw back the curtains, and certainly wouldn't go crazy and open the window—in fact, he couldn't open it even if he wanted to; he'd have to smash the window, which, according to the law, would be a crime of endangering public safety.

However, as long as the windows are not opened, the train is safe; this is the result of thousands of runs.

For ordinary people, the night is a forbidden zone, but for some, it isn't; otherwise, there would be no night watchmen.

Inside the carriage, a dim kerosene lamp hung from the ceiling, and the body could feel regular vibrations, while some noise came from outside.

Leaning back on the soft couch in the private room, Xu Cheng stopped thinking and gradually drifted into a light, drowsy sleep.

However, even in his sleep, he still had one hand tucked into his clothes, tightly clutching something.

Light footsteps sounded not far from the private room, which startled him. Xu Cheng narrowed his eyes and listened intently.

It sounded like the hard sole of a shoe hitting a metal surface.

Train conductor?
"Sir, would you like to continue with your late-night snack order?"
