Chapter 19 The Divine Water Saves the World
Tian Feng's gaze was resolute: "Enter the city! After I enter the city, you may leave."

The driver had no choice but to drive the oxcart toward the Guangzong city gate.

Sitting on the oxcart, Tian Feng carefully observed the crowd and found that most of them were poorly dressed commoners. They were so thin that they were skin and bones and had very little energy. Only their eyes revealed hope and longing.

At the city gate, the Yellow Turban leader responsible for guarding the gate saw that Tian Feng was handsome and dignified, and stepped forward to greet him: "May I ask your name?"

Tian Feng got off the oxcart and said kindly, "I am a person who lives in seclusion in the mountains, named Tian Yuan, courtesy name Zhiyuan."

Having entered the tiger's den, Tian Feng naturally wouldn't reveal his real name.

The Yellow Turban leader knew that this person might not have given his real name, but he didn't care and laughed, "Are you here because of the recruitment order as well?"

"Also?" Tian Feng's heart skipped a beat.

The Yellow Turban leader laughed and said, "These days, many sons of powerful families from Julu and Weijun have come to Guangzong to join the government or academy and serve our army."

Tian Feng felt a slight tingling sensation on his scalp.

Goodness, he's definitely not the only smart one.

Fortunately, I kept to myself and rarely went out, especially during the period of mourning for my parents. I rarely saw outsiders and few people knew me. Otherwise, if I had run into an old acquaintance in the city, my identity might have been exposed.

Tian Feng nodded naturally and said, "Indeed, I have come for the recruitment order."

Upon hearing this, the Yellow Turban leader briefly inspected the oxcart and, seeing that it was unarmed, said, "Please enter the city, my lord. Xiao Wu, lead the gentleman to the Recruitment Office."

Xiao Wu was a thin, yellow-turbaned boy, about ten or sixteen years old, with fine downy hair on his lips.

He stepped forward and bowed to Tian Feng, saying, "Please come with me, sir."

"Thank you."

Tian Feng thanked him, got back into the oxcart, and the driver cracked his whip, making the oxcart turn slowly behind Xiao Wu.

Upon entering the city, one sees streets crisscrossing like a chessboard, with a great many pedestrians, including hungry refugees and merchants leading cattle and horses. Looking up, one can see the county government office standing majestically in the very center of the city.

Xiao Wu led Tian Feng left and right, and on the way, Tian Feng saw the bustling West Market, where vendors and laborers were loudly hawking their wares of cloth, pottery, wine and food, which amazed him.

He couldn't help but ask Xiao Wu, "Don't the people in the city worry about the war? Why are they all living as if it were a peaceful time?"

Xiao Wu smiled brightly: "There is a Holy Venerable in the city. The Holy Venerable has boundless magical power and divine might like a prison. What are the mere Han army compared to that? Of course, everyone is not worried."

Tian Feng's eyes darted around, and he asked, "I've heard that when the Holy One descended to the mortal realm, he was in the form of an infant. Later, he took five steps in the heavens and became a five-year-old child. I wonder if this is true or not?"

"It is true!"

Xiao Wu clearly held the Yellow Heaven Saint Venerable in the highest esteem, and spoke at length about the Saint Venerable's miracles.

"On the first day of His Holiness’s descent into the world, he was a five-year-old celestial child. Every day that passed, he grew one year older until he became a young man, at which point he stopped growing."

Have you seen the Holy One?

"I saw it once on the battlefield, and then once more when I was in Shilingshui. I haven't seen it since."

"Spiritual water?" Tian Feng was taken aback. "What is spiritual water? Is it talisman water?"

He knew that Zhang Jiao had distributed talismanic water to save people during times of great plague and drought, but he did not know the difference between talismanic water and spiritual water.

Xiao Wu explained, "The talisman water is made by the Great Virtuous Teacher using rice water and talisman paper, while the spiritual water is made by the Holy Venerable infusing his magical power into clear water. It has the ability to relieve pain and prolong life. Some time ago, during the great battle with the Han army, many people were seriously injured, and they survived only after drinking the spiritual water." In fact, this spiritual water is an extremely simple "spiritual object" made by Huang Tian by introducing the spiritual energy of heaven and earth into water.

For ordinary people, drinking this may slightly replenish their qi and blood and boost their spirits, but it has little other effect.

But for the wounded Yellow Turban soldiers, the spiritual water was a lifeline; they firmly believed that drinking it would save their lives.

The strong will to survive, combined with the inherent properties of the sacred water, truly saved many lives.

Tian Feng asked in surprise, "Have you ever drunk spiritual water?"

Xiao Wu shook his head: "I'm not injured, why should I drink spiritual water? Besides, I heard from the Holy Venerable that spiritual water is hard to come by and can only be preserved for three hours. After three hours, the spiritual power will dissipate and turn into ordinary water."

We healthy people are not allowed to drink it; it's all reserved for the sick and displaced people who come to the city. They've been starving for a long time, suffering from accumulated illnesses and pains. After drinking this sacred water, their ailments often subside, and they survive.

He suddenly stopped and pointed to a spacious building not far away with a sign that read "Spiritual Water Bureau," saying, "That's where the spiritual water is distributed."

Tian Feng looked in the direction he pointed and saw dozens of Yellow Turban soldiers guarding the Ling Shui Bureau. Hundreds of disheveled refugees, with their children in tow, lined up in two rows, their eyes filled with longing as they looked at the bowls of Ling Shui that emitted a faint fragrance.

Tian Feng spoke up, "Could we rest for a bit and take a look?"

Xiao Wu didn't refuse, "Of course."

Tian Feng stepped off the oxcart and walked to the outside of Lingshui Office. Two Yellow Turban soldiers looked him over but did not drive him away. Tian Feng stood on the periphery of the crowd and watched.

At the very front of the procession, a seven or eight-year-old girl, pale-lipped, unconscious, and feverish, was held in the arms of a man. A tall, thin Yellow Turban soldier pried open her lips and slowly fed her the spiritual water.

The little girl's lips instantly turned rosy, and her dry, mud-covered face gradually regained some color. She blinked her eyelashes, opened her eyes, buried her head in the man's arms, and whispered, "Father, I feel so bad."

The middle-aged man holding her was overjoyed at the sight, but then looked pleadingly at the tall, thin soldier, "Divine messenger, divine messenger, please give me another bowl of holy water to save my daughter!"

As he spoke, he couldn't help but kneel down.

The tall, thin soldier pulled him up, glaring at him and saying, "Why are you in such a hurry to kneel? Who said we wouldn't give it to you? Get up!"

The middle-aged man quickly stood up, bowed and nodded: "Thank you, divine messenger, thank you, divine messenger!"

As they were talking, the tall, thin soldier picked up another bowl of spiritual water and brought it over. The little girl smelled the fragrance, leaned in, and gulped it down.

After drinking it, she felt noticeably better, and her eyes became brighter.

The tall, thin soldier pointed to one side and said, "Go over there, there's a healer there. Let the healer take a look at her."

"Yes Yes!"

Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, the middle-aged man carried the little girl to an elderly man with white hair and beard. The old man raised his hand to feel the little girl's forehead, then took her pulse, and smiled kindly: "The fever has subsided, there's nothing serious."

The middle-aged man was overjoyed and immediately knelt down to kowtow to the doctor, and then to the tall, thin soldier, saying, "Thank you, sir! Thank you, divine messenger!"

The tall, thin soldier waved his hand, "If you want to thank someone, thank the Holy One. The Holy One has boundless power and is merciful in saving the world."

"Yes, yes!" The middle-aged man realized what was happening, kowtowed several times in the direction of the county government office, and looked devout.

Judging from his appearance, he wouldn't hesitate for a second even if it meant dying for the Holy Venerable.

Upon witnessing this scene, Tian Feng was deeply shocked and speechless with astonishment.
