Ice Vapor Goddess
Chapter 51 Legend
Chapter 51 Legend
The purple lightning spears descended like divine punishment, the intense voltage distorting vision and the air, and every tiny snowflake was infused with lightning.
The world seemed to slow down. On Renn's bare arms, every muscle was bursting with immense power, exuding a violent yet exquisitely elegant aesthetic. The lightning spear slowly descended, like a predetermined judgment.
It first pierced through the head of the ice giant, and then slowly penetrated the spire of St. John's Cathedral, melting the frozen cannonballs and steel. The intense voltage and high temperature vaporized explosive white mist inside the giant's body, and cracks gradually appeared, trembling amidst the hissing and whispering of the solid ice.
The sky trembled silently, and the earth cracked under terrifying pressure. In that subtle, slow movement, Xilun sensed a glimmer of understanding.
His divine senses leaped with joy, as if he had found a family member.
That spear... was no longer magic, but divine thought!
That was the will to destroy, the authority of thunder, and at the sharpest spearhead, a wisp of divine thought clung to it!
Then, the purple crack burst forth with the most dazzling white light, like a wound from the beginning of time. Everyone was briefly blinded for a second, their eyes seeing only that purple-white light.
boom--! ! !
The ice shattered with a deafening roar, and lightning bolts followed closely behind like nimble snakes, continuously disintegrating, devouring, and annihilating each fragment... As if they had come alive, each bolt of lightning possessed its own consciousness, and their sole objective was to completely destroy those ice crystals!
Lightning flashed across half a mile of the area, sweeping over the walls of Speyside. People ducked to avoid being accidentally injured, but were still shaken by the electric shocks.
Then, the world fell silent.
There was no more ice man, no more ice crystals, only a humanoid figure made entirely of plasma silently suspended in mid-air.
A young soldier beside him murmured in amazement, "This is the first time I've seen the Governor use his iron will to this extent..."
“Iron Will?” Xiren turned his head.
The soldier glanced at Xilun, considering their apparent hostile relationship, but then remembered he had begged him to save the governor… His face flushed, and he whispered, “The governor’s innate ability is [Control of Thunder], and his legendary ability is [Iron Will], everyone knows that…”
Xilun nodded.
Apprentice knights can awaken their [talented abilities]. Everyone has their own unique abilities, just like Kyle's talent ability is "precision shooting". However, it's really hard to know how Renn awakened such a simple, brutal, and ridiculously powerful talent as "controlling thunder".
Additionally, upon becoming a Royal Knight, one will gain the [Throne Ability] based on the bestower; upon becoming a Legendary Knight, one will gain the [Legendary Ability] based on the legend.
Iron Will is a common legendary ability that many legendary knights throughout history have possessed. Its effect is very simple: the shorter the health bar and the longer the mana bar, the stronger the knight becomes, and he will not lose his ability to fight until he is completely dead.
In other words, the uninjured version of Raine is the weakest, while the version that is almost dead is the strongest. Unless he is completely dead, he will only get stronger as the fight goes on.
No wonder they had to break up my Holy Healing... Xiren thought for a moment, still feeling a little dissatisfied. After all, this was the first time he had encountered a medical dispute involving resistance to treatment. If this had happened before he transmigrated, they would have at least filed a complaint against him...
Suddenly, after a few seconds of pause, Renn's body fell from the sky, the lightning dissipating, leaving only his almost shattered body.
He fell into the snow, kicking up a cloud of snow dust.
The royal guards rushed out of the city at top speed, while a few others kept a watchful eye on Xilun.
Xilun shook his head and walked down the city wall.
He wasn't worried about Raine's life or death. Even the Royal Knights weren't easy to kill, and the Legend was even more resilient—as long as a bit of his body remained, he could slowly recover. If his physical body was completely destroyed, he could become a Heroic Spirit. Even if the Heroic Spirit was annihilated, as long as people continued to sing his story and legend, there was hope that he would be resurrected from the story one day.
But with injuries like this... at least things will calm down for a while, right?

The fire on the eighth underground level gradually subsided. With the efforts of the transport engines, a large amount of water from the reservoir was pumped out and sprayed onto the fire. In addition, the shelter used a lot of non-flammable steel, and the fire was slowly brought under control.
Kyle took the elevator alone to the eighth basement level, which was the main entrance to the boiler area and the place where Fafnir had entered.
Seeing the flames gradually subside and the workers busily making repairs, Kyle secretly breathed a sigh of relief. The No. 2 boiler that Fafner had occupied wasn't in the disaster area, so there shouldn't be any major problems... right?
"Captain! Captain Kyle!" A voice called out from afar. Kyle didn't react when the voice called "Captain" until his name was called, at which point he suddenly looked over.
Those were new recruits of the Holy Light Knights, not even apprentice knights, but recruited from the general populace.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"Deputy Commander... the Deputy Commander is trapped in the steel frame, he's dying!"
"Huh?" Kyle exclaimed in surprise, nearly jumping up in fright. "What happened? Take me there right now!"
After saying that, he quickly ran forward. When he realized that the recruit who was leading the way could not catch up with him at all, Kyle grabbed him by the collar and made him point the way.
Soon, they passed through two busy boiler areas and arrived at the relatively intact No. 2 boiler.
Although the area was damaged by the explosion, the boiler itself was cast from a special alloy and therefore remained undamaged; only the steel-framed walkway along the road was slightly twisted.
Confused, Kyle ran forward and finally arrived at the control room of boiler number two—a sturdy, alloy-cast small house where people could control the boiler using various buttons and triggers.
A steel frame fell right on top of it. Because the main alloy of the control room was too hard, the steel frame twisted and slid down to the doorway, sealing it off.
"Uh... is Fafnir inside?" Kyle asked, puzzled.
The new recruits nodded repeatedly.
Kyle looked at the massive steel frame. The recruits certainly couldn't carry it, but Fafnir, a regular knight, should be able to move it, right? Even if he couldn't hold it, he shouldn't die inside, should he?
The recruit looked at the puzzled Kyle and pointed to the window on the side: "The window was just shattered, and thick smoke rushed in."
Kyle nodded as if he understood, then suddenly realized—that didn't make sense either. The starting Cavaliers could hold their breath for half an hour, so how could a little smoke kill them?
Filled with doubt, he struggled to move the steel frame at the doorway.
Thick smoke billowed inside, but things had improved considerably because the fire outside had been extinguished, and the smoke, like water without a source, was slowly dissipating.
He groped around and actually found Fafnir lying unconscious on the ground.
Kyle used his strength to carry him out, then threw him to the ground.
There were no external injuries on his body, so he really did seem to have been suffocated by the thick fog... Kyle cast a [Awakening] spell on him. This was a minor divine spell used by knights of the Holy See, a super weaker version of Holy Light, which could only make people clear their minds, equivalent to caffeine or a basin of cold water, only much milder.
Fafnir slowly regained consciousness and then saw Kyle with his hands in his pockets and a cold smile on his face.

As one of the only two armed forces under the bishop's command, Kyle felt it necessary to curb the opponent's arrogance.
Then Fafnir suddenly sat up in a daze, bumping his forehead into Kyle's chin, who was still posing.
A crisp sound of bones dislocating rang out; some people sat up, while others fell down.
