Chapter 135 The So-Called Qimen

Chapter 135 The So-Called Qimen

"It was just a fluke."

As he spoke, Zhao Zhen looked down at the Qimen formation beneath his feet.

The so-called Qimen Dunjia formation looks different at different times.

For ordinary people, knowing the basics of Qimen Dunjia (a form of divination) – such as the south (Li), north (Kan), east (Zhen), and west (Dui) – is already quite an achievement. As for anything else, don't even think about it; that would be considered outside your "profession."

Legend has it that during the Battle of Zhuolu between the Yellow Emperor and Chiyou, the Yellow Emperor was defeated after a long battle. He dreamt that a god imparted to him a secret formula, and later received a book carried by a colorful phoenix. The book contained the secrets of Qimen Dunjia.

Based on the contents of the book, the Yellow Emperor divided the twenty-four hours of each day into twelve two-hour periods: Zi, Chou, Yin, Mao, Chen, Si, Wu, Wei, Shen, You, Cheng, and Hai.

One hour is one grid. According to the Qimen calendar, the cycle from the first day of winter solstice of each year to the first day of winter solstice of the following year is 360 days.

There are ten two-hour periods each day, and each two-hour period has a different pattern. The total number of patterns in a year is 12 × 360 = 4320, which is four thousand three hundred and twenty patterns.

However, when the Yellow Emperor later ordered Feng Hou to organize it into text, Feng Hou discovered that in these 4,320 games, each game was actually repeated four times.

There are 360 days and 4320 hours in a year. Since the pattern repeats four times, the actual number of patterns for the hours in a year should be 4320 ÷ 4 = 1080.

Therefore, the subsequent reorganization of the wind was simplified, resulting in the 1080th wind inning.

Later, during the time of Jiang Taigong in the Zhou Dynasty, he still felt that the 1,080 formations arranged by Feng Hou were too complicated, so he calculated them according to the 24 solar terms.

Each solar term lasts for fifteen days, and each solar term is further divided into three periods: upper, middle, and lower. Each period lasts for five days, and each solar term has three periods. Therefore, the total number of periods for the twenty-four solar terms in a year is 3 x 24 = 72.

Thus, the seventy-two strategies of Jiang Taigong came into being.

Then, during the Qin and Han dynasties, Zhang Liang, the Marquis of Liu, simplified the four repetitions in Jiang Ziya's seventy-two formations, making the layout more ingenious. This led to the later Yang Dun Nine Formations and Yin Dun Nine Formations, which have been passed down to this day.

The so-called Yang Dun Nine Palaces refers to the arrangement of the nine palaces from the winter solstice to the summer solstice, following the clockwise direction, starting from the Kan 1 Palace.

The Yin Dun Nine Palaces are arranged from the summer solstice to the winter solstice, following a reverse-movement pattern, starting from the Li Palace.

In other words, the Qimen Dunjia that everyone knows today is actually the result of continuous improvement, simplification and evolution by sages throughout history.

The human brain is ultimately limited. To calculate the infinite changes with limited time and energy makes Qimen Dunjia extremely difficult for ordinary people to learn.

Therefore, lowering the learning threshold is essential if we want to pass on Qimen Dunjia.

Getting back to the main point, if we consider the entire world as a giant Qimen formation, then as long as you are within this world, the "Qimen formation" beneath your feet is constantly changing.

The brilliance of Wuhou Qimen lies in the fact that it does not rely on the Qimen formation of the "heaven and earth" it is in, but rather it captures a certain moment and sets up a fixed Qimen formation under its feet.

The advantage of this is that, no matter how long the battle lasts, the user of Wuhou Qimen never needs to consider the changes in the Qimen formation.

Furthermore, with the central palace already set, the amount of calculation required for sorcerers has been reduced by more than a fraction!
At this moment, under normal circumstances, after seeing the Zhuge family set up a Qimen formation at their feet, there would be no need to confront them head-on in this situation.

After all, this is their home turf, so they will definitely have the upper hand in a fight.

Simply create distance, expand the area of this battle, and then harass with ranged attacks; the Wuhou Qimen technique will crumble on its own.

However, this method becomes meaningless in a setting like a ring match where the space is limited.

This is why Zhuge Dan initially said that he had gained an enormous advantage.

Zhao Zhen looked down at the ground beneath her feet, a faint smile appearing on her lips.

"What bad luck! I just happen to be standing in this extremely unlucky spot." "Hehe, Senior Brother Zhao Zhen, watch out!"

Zhuge Dan chuckled and began to shift his position.

So-called sorcerers, throughout their lives, pursue nothing more than seeking good fortune and avoiding misfortune.

In this situation, as long as Zhuge Dan can occupy the most auspicious position, the power of his spells will be enhanced, and the reduction in his own true qi consumption will be considerable.

Conversely, if one stands in an inauspicious position, then everything will turn around.

As for how to determine good or bad fortune, that is the method practiced by these sorcerers.

"The character 'Zhen' signifies thunder!"

With a loud shout from Zhuge Dan, bolts of lightning shot out from his palm toward Zhao Zhen.

"Huh? What do you mean, use lightning?"

Zhao Zhen raised an eyebrow, neither dodging nor flinching, but simply standing still, silently raising a protective aura around his body.

He now strongly suspects that Zhuge Dan simply heard of his nickname "Golden Thunder Lord" and deliberately attacked him with the "Zhen" technique right from the start.

Otherwise, why would he insist on stepping on the Zhen position first, when it is clearly not an auspicious position?
boom! ! !
Bolts of lightning struck Zhao Zhen's protective Qi, instantly raising clouds of dust.

But as the smoke and dust cleared, Zhao Zhen remained standing motionless, completely unharmed.

"Such thick protective Qi!"

The disciples of the Three Ones couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.

"This true qi is far more powerful than what was shown at my family's birthday banquet a few years ago..."

Lu Jin was having some doubts.

He suddenly realized that if things continued like this, he wouldn't just be telling people not to underestimate the poor when they're young, but rather telling them not to underestimate the poor when they're middle-aged, and eventually, not to underestimate the poor when they're old...

"Junior Brother Zhuge, are you doing this on purpose?"

Zhao Zhen patted off non-existent dust from his body and raised an eyebrow at Zhuge Dan.

Zhuge Dan's face flashed with embarrassment after his secret thoughts were exposed, and he quickly changed his position again.

Zhao Zhen wasn't in a hurry and remained standing on the most inauspicious spot, lest the Left Sect Leader accuse him of bullying a child later.

"Kun character, flow stone!"

shhhhhh!
Countless stones rose from the ground without warning and, under Zhuge Dan's control, shot towards Zhao Zhen.

Despite the intense attacks, Zhao Zhen showed no sign of panic.

He casually flicked his hand, sending the nearest stray rock flying. The stray rock then followed a specific trajectory into the stray rock pile, continuously bouncing off the remaining stray rocks still flying in the air.

"Holy crap! You can do that? Is this some kind of outrageous thing?!"

Zhuge Dan opened his mouth. He had seen many people who could stop his falling rocks, but he had never seen anyone like Zhao Zhen before.
