Warhammer: The Time Traveler

Chapter 90: Renovation in Progress

Chapter 90: Renovation in Progress (21st Update)
The modifications were carried out in batches according to Chen Yu's plan. The first to be summoned were Mann, Dorio, and Mowell.

Mann lay on the cold metal lab table, the chill of the metal seeping into his back through his thin surgical gown.

He looked at the various mechanical tentacles and tools hanging above, gleaming with a cold light. The precise claws and rotating drills gleamed with a chilling metallic sheen in the dim light. Even a tough guy like him couldn't help but feel his throat go dry.

Chen Yu's figure loomed over him, the scarlet optical lens devoid of any emotion, as if examining a component.

“Your role is the team’s pillar and core of firepower.” As Chen Yu spoke, he manipulated the mechanical tentacles to remove the heavy prosthetic body from Mann’s left arm. The metal parts made a dull thud as they were removed. “The existing firepower is insufficient to deal with the threats of the unknown environment.”

New modified components were removed, and their design was completely different from the bionic prosthetics that Mann was used to accessing in Night City.

It looks robust and powerful, with a precise structure and a touch of ruggedness, yet it also looks exceptionally exquisite, like a meticulously crafted work of art.

Chen Yu focused on connecting this system to Mann's nervous and circulatory systems, while explaining: "This will replace your left arm; the core is a precision-engineered plasma cannon."

This isn't the cheap, cobbled-together weapon we gave you before; it's a truly complete weapon system, powerful enough to completely vaporize any heavily armored unit you've ever seen.

In fact, this was a plasma cannon that Chen Yu had crafted himself, meeting the precision standards of the Warhammer world.

Although Chen Yu is not a mechanical priest from the Riza Forging World and cannot compare to those Riza experts who specialize in plasma weapons, he can still build standard-model plasma weapons.

He carefully connected the energy conduit to the newly implanted high-output energy core in Mann's chest cavity and calibrated the aiming sensor.

The faint sound of electricity was particularly clear in the silent workshop, and Mann could feel a strange energy pulsating in his chest.

"Pay attention to controlling the firing rhythm; the cooling down after overload takes time," Chen Yu added, then mentioned the form of the modification, "I fully integrated it into a bionic arm, which was inspired by this place."

If I were following my old practice, I would have simply mounted the cannon on your shoulder.

Next, Chen Yu began to treat Mann's right arm.

Another bionic arm, indistinguishable from a real arm, was taken out and began to be installed. Its surface was covered with simulated skin, with even the pores and veins lifelike. Only the slight metallic luster of the fingertips hinted at its true nature.

“Your right arm will integrate a shield generator,” he continued, “Based on the technology I have mastered, small energy shields can now be highly miniaturized and efficient.”

Once deployed, this generator is capable of withstanding attacks of what you understand as 'artillery fire,' providing protection equivalent to that of a heavy vehicle.

In the Warhammer world, shield technology is very sophisticated and advanced. Apart from the Void Shield, which can only be installed on warships and large vehicles, as well as on individual Mechanicus sages or large buildings, small energy shields can be made very sophisticated in the Empire.

Even a medal or a necklace can be used as a shield generator, and a military-grade one at that.

What Chen Yu prepared for Mann was a large military-grade shield generator that, once deployed, could withstand artillery fire, providing vehicle-level protection against small-caliber artillery fire according to Warhammer standards.

Chen Yu completed the final neural connection calibration, ensuring that Mann could freely control the bionic limbs that looked exactly like real arms but contained destructive power within them.

The transformation process was not without pain. Even with the use of potent anesthetics, the tearing and overload sensations that arose when his muscles and nerves connected to the unfamiliar and powerful system, as if countless tiny electric currents were crawling along his spine, still made Mann clench his teeth and his forehead soaked with cold sweat.

But he didn't utter a sound, just stared intently at the ceiling, feeling the power within his body being reshaped little by little.

When the modifications were complete, Mann sat up from the lab table, feeling an unprecedented sense of fulfillment. His left arm felt heavy yet powerful, and he could clearly "sense" the presence of the plasma cannon, as if it were an extension of his body.

Although the shield generator on his right arm was invisible, he knew it was an energy shield that could be deployed at any time.

He tentatively channeled his energy slightly, and the armor plate on the outside of his left arm opened slightly, revealing the muzzle of the cannon that emitted a faint blue light. A weak wave of heat rushed towards him, and the air was immediately filled with the metallic smell of ozone.

He immediately stopped the energy output, and the cannon muzzle quickly closed.

This brief attempt alone horrified him with the destructive power it contained.

Meanwhile, in Dorio's area, her modifications focused more on optimization and enhancement.

Chen Yu further enhanced her muscle density and skeletal structure, and improved nerve conduction speed, making her already terrifying strength and reaction even more formidable.

At the same time, he installed built-in shock-based vibration generators in her arms, making her punches not only powerful but also capable of producing a wide-range blunt impact.

"Your mission is to destroy all obstacles in front of you and create opportunities for Mann's heavy firepower," Chen Yu told her.

Dorio felt the surging, almost overflowing power within her body, as if her muscle fibers had been rewoven. She simply nodded silently, swung her fist, and the sound of the wind it generated was sharper than ever before, with even a slight distortion in the air around her fist.

Mowell's modifications were even more refined.

Chen Yu optimized the energy efficiency of her S.A.W.S. system, reducing the load on her nervous system from high-speed movement, making her bursts more sustained and her changes of direction more unpredictable.

The resonant frequency of the sonic blade was fine-tuned, further enhancing its destructive efficiency.

At the same time, Chen Yu integrated more advanced environmental scanning and threat marking functions into her sensory system, making her assassination and reconnaissance capabilities even more lethal.

“You are the team’s eyes and ears, responsible for eliminating key targets and conducting forward reconnaissance,” Chen Yu said to Mowell.

Mower simply bowed slightly to indicate that she understood. Her gaze was cold and focused, like a razor-sharpened blade. Her modified senses allowed her to detect the faintest changes in airflow and residual heat.

When the three finished their modifications and met in the open space outside the workshop, they could all feel an aura emanating from each other that was far greater than before.

Mann's heavy firepower, Dorio's absolute strength, and Mowell's extreme speed form a solid iron triangle.

Mann stretched his new left arm and asked in a deep voice, "How does it feel?"

Dorio clenched her fist, her knuckles cracking: "Very good, you're stronger now."

Mower simply nodded, her figure swaying slightly, leaving an almost imperceptible afterimage in place, as if she existed in two places at the same time.

Mann looked at his teammates, then down at his own arm. He felt more confident about the upcoming mission, but the heaviness of the unknown did not diminish.
