Chapter 147 Arakasaka Security

Chapter 147 Arakasaka Security (Sixth Update)
The vehicle drove into an abandoned industrial warehouse area and stopped inside an empty warehouse.

Tanaka was dragged out of the car and thrown onto the cold cement ground.

He looked in horror at the members of Mann's squad who were surrounding him, especially Mann's imposing figure and Rebecca's undisguised murderous intent in her eyes.

"Who...who are you? What do you want? I'm the head of the technical department at Arasaka! Do you know the consequences of messing with me?" Tanaka tried to intimidate them by using the company's name, but his trembling voice betrayed his inner fear.

Mann crouched down, his massive shadow looming over Tanaka, the muzzle of his smart pistol lightly touching Tanaka's forehead: "Chief Tanaka, we don't have much time. We'll only ask you once. David Martinez, where are you keeping him?"

Tian's heart sank. So it really was about that kid! He forced himself to remain calm: "I...I don't know what you're talking about! What David Martinez?"

"Bang!" A dull gunshot rang out, followed by Tanaka's scream.

Without hesitation, Mann shot him in the thigh. Although it wasn't a fatal wound, the intense pain instantly turned Tanaka's face deathly pale.

“My patience is limited,” Mann said coldly. “Next time, it’ll be your kneecap.”

“In…in the B7 warehouse of the seventh logistics zone…underground…” Tanaka was in so much pain that he was covered in cold sweat and could no longer hide anything. “There’s a secret laboratory of the technical department there…the project…is ‘Prosthetic Kong’…”

“Cybernetic robots?” Mann frowned; he had never heard of this project.

“It is… a heavy individual prosthetic body project… requiring extremely high neurological adaptability… David’s data… he is a good fit…” Tian explained intermittently, trying to exchange information for a chance to survive.

Having obtained the exact location, Mann stood up and winked at Dorio.

Dorothy understood and stepped forward to begin a more detailed interrogation of Tanaka, including the laboratory's internal structure, security forces, and the specific details and risks of the "cyborg" project.

Meanwhile, at the abandoned town stronghold, Qiwei and Sasha, based on information provided by Tanaka, began a full-scale attack on the network defense of Warehouse B7 in the Seventh Logistics Zone.

With a clear objective, the efficiency of intrusion is greatly improved.

They quickly obtained the warehouse floor plan, ventilation duct layout, and security personnel patrol routes and shift change times.

The information was shared with Mann's team in real time.

"The laboratory is on the second basement level. The entrance is disguised as an ordinary freight elevator and requires a specific access card and iris verification," Qi Wei's voice came through the communicator. "There are about twelve security personnel, patrolling in three shifts, equipped with standard company-issue weapons."

The situation inside the laboratory is unclear, but based on Tanaka's description, there should be researchers and more security personnel inside.

“Access card and iris scan…” Mann looked at Tanaka, who lay on the ground like a dead dog.

Dorio had already found the access card on Tanaka and had used a brutal method to "ensure" that he would "cooperate" in completing the iris verification—Mann's gun never left his head.

The plan was quickly formulated. Using Tanaka as the "key," they would infiltrate the underground laboratory of Warehouse B7, quickly locate and rescue David, and then swiftly evacuate.

Try to avoid engaging in firefights with security forces, as it will be difficult for them to escape once the main security force of Arasaka Tower is alerted.

The group got back into the car, shoved the ashen-faced Tanaka inside, and sped off toward the seventh logistics zone.

This time, they had a clear goal and a preliminary plan. But everyone knew that breaking into Arasaka's secret laboratory was tantamount to pulling teeth from a tiger's mouth.

The operation to rescue David has only just entered its most dangerous phase.

The neon lights of the city flashed past their car windows, illuminating their solemn and determined faces.

Inside the abandoned warehouse, Tanaka was being roughly dragged along by Dorio, the gunshot wound on his thigh causing him to groan in pain.

Mann's team had just extracted crucial information from him and were preparing to use him as a "key" to enter the laboratory.

However, just as Falco started the car engine and prepared to drive towards the Seventh Logistics Zone, Qiwei's urgent voice came through the team communication channel, carrying a clear alarm: "Mann! Something's wrong! Multiple high-speed moving signals are converging on your location! Identification signal... it's the Arasaka Internal Security Response Force!"

Almost simultaneously, the distinctive roar of a heavy-duty airship engine came from afar, growing louder as it approached. Blinding beams of searchlight pierced the night sky like swords, beginning to scan the abandoned industrial area.

"Damn it!" Mann's expression changed instantly, and he immediately understood what was going on. "This bastard has a tracking device on him!"

Although Tanaka was wincing in pain, a glimmer of relief and resentment flashed in his eyes when he heard the engine.

The company didn't abandon him! Rescue has arrived!

Rebecca reacted swiftly, pressing the shotgun barrel hard against Tanaka's temple and shouting out the car window, "Make them get out of the way! Or I'll blow his head off right now!"

However, Arasaka's internal security response team is not composed of street thugs; they are well-trained and have a clear objective.

Two armored aerial vehicles quickly took up advantageous positions above the warehouse. The hatches opened, and security personnel dressed in heavy black combat uniforms and wearing fully enclosed helmets rappelled down with swift and professional movements.

More ground-based armed vehicles blocked all exits of the warehouse area, and red laser sights began to flicker on the SUV where Mann's team was located.

"Attention everyone inside the vehicle! Release Supervisor Tanaka immediately! Lay down your weapons and surrender! This is the final warning!" A cold, rigid announcement came from the loudspeaker.

"Surrender? Bullshit!" Rebecca gritted her teeth, her finger on the trigger, almost pulling it down.

The situation took an immediate and dramatic turn for the worse.

They had hostages, but the other side had an overwhelming advantage in firepower and numbers, and clearly didn't care about Tanaka's life or death—or thought they wouldn't dare to actually kill an Arasaka executive.

Mann's team is trapped in this warehouse, facing a dead end with no way out.

"Falco! Get cover!" Mann roared, pulling Tanaka out of the car and using his massive body as a makeshift shield, dragging him quickly behind the piles of abandoned containers inside the warehouse.

Dorio, Pila, and Rebecca immediately used vehicles and debris to find shooting positions.

"Bang bang bang!" A fierce firefight erupted instantly.

With their superior equipment and suppressive fire, the Arasaka security personnel unleashed a barrage of bullets that rained down on the off-road vehicle's armor and containers, sending up a trail of sparks and debris.

Mann's squad fought back tenaciously, relying on their experience and the terrain. Bullets whistled through the air, temporarily halting the enemy's advance. But everyone knew this was only temporary; they were completely surrounded and at a severe disadvantage.
