Chapter 106 Arasaka's Double-cross

Chapter 106 Arasaka's Double-cross (Thirteenth Update)

Following the list of supplies clearly provided by Chen Yu, Mowell once again contacted the military technology "probe" team through a pre-set encrypted channel.

The message was concise and direct: the transaction location was set at the edge of the Badlands, at coordinates XXX-XXX; the time was set for 20:00 standard time, 48 hours later; and the transaction was to exchange all the materials on the list for a formula for a high-performance structural alloy.

This information caused quite a stir among the top levels of military technology.

The supplies on the list—especially the "Centaur" tactical exoskeleton platform and several rare alloys of specific specifications—are extremely difficult to obtain, and may even require the use of strategic reserves and a special approval process.

However, after the technical evaluation department analyzed the alloy formula fragments provided by Chen Yu in advance, all hesitation vanished instantly.

Preliminary simulation data show that this alloy significantly surpasses the best similar materials currently available in military technology in key indicators such as strength-to-weight ratio, energy resistance, and fatigue limit.

Its potential applications range from individual soldier armor to aircraft structures, and its value is immeasurable.

Without a doubt, this was a deal that couldn't be refused.

To this end, the military technology security department formulated a rigorous handover plan, dispatched a highly skilled tactical team to escort the shipment, led by Major Richard Ward, who had previously been in contact with Mowell, while Dr. Mara Sorensen provided remote technical support from the rear.

The entire operation was classified as top secret.

However, military technology is not a monolithic entity.

The deep-cover spies planted by the Arasaka Corporation, like viruses lurking deep within the system, keenly detected the signals of this unusual movement of supplies.

The relevant information was quickly encrypted and transmitted to Arasaka Tower's counterintelligence department.

Upon receiving the intelligence, Abernathy, the executive director of the counterintelligence department, immediately sensed an opportunity.

Although she didn't know the specifics of the military technology transaction, the fact that it could warrant such a large-scale operation, and that the counterparty was that mysterious force, meant that its value must be astonishing.

Her logic was simple and direct: instead of wasting time negotiating, it was better to just take it directly.

This would both strike at military technology and allow Arasaka to acquire potentially high-value assets, achieving two goals at once.

She quickly devised an ambush plan, mobilizing an elite action team from the counterintelligence department, equipped with the latest reconnaissance and suppression equipment, with the goal of simultaneously controlling both parties in the transaction and seizing all materials and technical data.

The designated coordinates on the edge of the badlands on the night of the transaction.

This is the ruins of an abandoned mining facility. The weathered metal skeleton gleams coldly in the pale moonlight, and all around is the ceaseless howling of the wind.

The armored personnel carriers, equipped with military technology, arrived on time, and Major Ward directed his team to quickly establish a temporary perimeter.

Mowell appeared at the entrance to the ruins right on time, still in his dark gray combat uniform, his steps steady and without any unnecessary movements.

As instructed by Chen Yu, Rebecca also came along, ostensibly to "assist," but in reality, Chen Yu believed that she needed more real-world experience to adapt to the new equipment.

Rebecca seemed somewhat excited, with a heavy bomb gun almost as tall as her on her back, and her green prosthetic eye constantly scanning her surroundings in the dim light, as if anticipating something to happen.

Major Ward stepped forward and briefly confirmed with Mowell before the handover began.

Soldiers using military technology unloaded sealed supply crates one by one from the transport vehicle, while Mowell handed over a data chip containing the complete alloy formula.

The entire process was silent and efficient.

Just as Major Ward's men began verifying the authenticity of the data chip, and Mowell was preparing to receive the supply crate—a sudden change occurred.

Several blindingly bright white beams suddenly shot from a distance, precisely enveloping the entire trading area; this was the combined effect of powerful flares and tactical searchlights.

At the same time, high-frequency interference waves instantly covered the entire area, attempting to paralyze all external communication and electronic equipment.

"Enemy attack! Take cover!" Major Ward reacted swiftly, shouting as he raised his weapon. The well-trained soldiers of the Military Technology unit quickly took cover and formed a defensive formation.

The ambush team from Arasaka appeared simultaneously from three directions.

They were dressed in uniform black combat suits covered with light armor, carrying Arasaka's latest "Masamune" smart submachine guns, and equipped with throwables with electromagnetic interference capabilities.

Their movements were coordinated and their firepower was perfectly coordinated. In the blink of an eye, they formed a crossfire network, and bullets rained down on the military-technical defense perimeter and Mowell, who was still standing in the center of the field.

Major Ward was startled; he recognized this as the elite force of Arasaka's counterintelligence department.

While directing his team to fight back, he tried to contact support from the rear, but all he could hear on the communication channel was harsh noise.

The situation is extremely unfavorable for them.

However, Mowell, who was at the center of the vortex of fire, did not show the slightest panic in the face of the sudden barrage of bullets and bright lights.

Her body instantly entered a state of high concentration—a reaction ingrained in her instincts after countless life-or-death battles and profound transformations.

In her field of vision, the trajectories of those high-speed bullets seemed to become clearly discernible. The enemy's position, movement rhythm, and even their next possible action were quickly captured and predicted under her highly concentrated mental perception.

An almost absurd thought crossed her mind: These people have no idea what kind of beings they are provoking.

This realization brought not fear, but a chilling pity, which almost made her lips, which rarely showed subtle expressions after her transformation, curl into a barely perceptible sneer.

Instead of seeking cover, she activated the S.A.W.S. system directly.

The perception of time is stretched to its limit in an instant.

Everything around—the whistling bullets, the flashing muzzle flashes, the slow movements of military-technical soldiers seeking cover—was transformed into slow-motion images.

Mowell's figure left an almost imperceptible afterimage in place as he moved at a speed far exceeding the limits of human vision.

She didn't use the more energy-intensive sonic blades, but relied purely on speed and precision.

Her movements were like a ghost, weaving through the gaps in the dense barrage of comments.

Each brief pause was accompanied by a precise burst of fire—she was using a secondary submachine gun mounted on the side of her arm. Although it was not as powerful as her main weapon, under her control, every bullet found its home.

Just as an Arasaka soldier was about to peek out from behind cover, a bullet hole appeared between his eyebrows, and he fell down without a sound.

Another soldier attempted to throw an electromagnetic grenade, but his wrist was instantly pierced by a bullet as soon as he raised it, and the grenade rolled to the ground.

Mowell's movements were completely unpredictable, sometimes skimming along the ground, sometimes leaping onto broken metal beams to launch attacks from incredible angles.

Her firing was almost uninterrupted, the gunshots forming a rapid and deadly series of notes, precisely reaping lives.

Arakasa's formation collapsed in an instant.

Unable to lock onto their target, they could only fire wildly at the afterimage left by Mowell, but the bullets missed their mark and instead wounded several of their comrades who were too close.

Rebecca excitedly picked up her grenades pistol the moment the attack began, but before she could find a suitable angle to fire, Mowell had already swept into the enemy ranks like a whirlwind.

She could only stare in disbelief as Mowell single-handedly put on this killing spree, and couldn't help but mutter a complaint under her breath: "Damn it! Leave a few for me too!"

She tried to aim several times, but Mowell was too fast and too close to the enemy. Fearing she might accidentally hit someone, she reluctantly put down her gun and became a guard, watching helplessly as Mowell completed this one-sided mopping-up operation.

I'm a bit out of sorts today. I'll grab a late-night snack first, then there are still two more updates to go, no delays!
