Chapter 60 Weapons
Now that the surgery is complete, let Bai Yuetian adapt on her own.

Anyway, ASH is still around, so there shouldn't be any problems.

Yang Chen and Bai Yuekui left in the freight elevator and smoothly ascended to the B2 floor.

Unlike the B7 level, the B2 level resembles a highly modernized military research and development center.

The alloy walls reflected a cold light, and a faint metallic smell filled the air.

They passed through several heavy, airtight doors that slid open automatically and entered a large laboratory.

In the center of the laboratory, the bodies of several adult men were secured in a specially designed cabin.

These bodies all looked exactly alike, with neat short hair and expressionless faces.

Several researchers wearing yellow protective suits were busy around one of the bodies.

They carefully attached a dark gray armor module to the key parts of the body.

Shoulders, chest, abdomen, and joints.

The surface of the armor is smooth and gleams under the light.

Bai Yuekui walked straight towards the group of researchers, his cold gaze sweeping over the body where armor was being installed.

Yang Chen followed beside her, examining the humanoid weapon.

"How's it going?" Bai Yuekui's voice rang out in the quiet laboratory, without any further pleasantries.

The research supervisor in charge, an elderly researcher with thick glasses and gray hair, immediately turned around upon hearing the voice.

Upon seeing that it was Bai Yuekui and Yang Chen, they immediately bowed slightly respectfully: "Boss Bai, Boss Yang."

He pushed up his glasses and pointed to the body that was having armor installed.

"The biggest breakthrough in the testing phase of the second-generation weapon so far is in its stability."

He walked to the control panel next to him, brought up a set of real-time monitoring data, and the screen displayed several fluctuating curves.

The top curve shows the dramatic fluctuations of the first generation, while the bottom curve appears relatively flat. Although there are fluctuations, they are all suppressed within a safe threshold range.

"The risk of it getting out of control still exists, but it has been reduced to a minimum," the senior researcher explained, pointing to the curve.

"Unless the control equipment is damaged or the operator suddenly loses consciousness, the weapon will not easily go out of control."

"Very good." Bai Yuekui nodded slightly.

"What about distance control? Has the synchronization rate issue been resolved?"

A wry smile appeared on the old researcher's face.

The initial excitement from the progress report has vanished, replaced by a sense of helplessness in the face of technical bottlenecks.

“This is precisely the most pressing issue right now, Mr. Bai,” he sighed.

“We tried various signal enhancement and neural synchronization compensation schemes, but with little success; the maximum distance was only about two kilometers.”

His tone was tinged with frustration: "Once we go beyond this range, the link will be quickly disconnected, the weapon will lose all remote command reception capabilities, and enter a preset standby or autonomous defense mode, becoming uncontrollable."

Two kilometers
Bai Yuekui and Yang Chen frowned almost imperceptibly.

This distance is just...too short.

This means that the operator must closely follow the weapon's movements, exposing themselves to almost the same danger as the weapon, thus losing the greatest advantage of remote, safe control.

Bai Yuekui stared silently at the clear boundary line on the screen. A few seconds later, her cold voice rang out again.

"Keep researching."

Her gaze swept over the unmodified bodies on the scaffold, finally settling on the old researcher.

"Try all the solutions you can think of, and in terms of resources, apply directly to ASH."

"Understood, Boss Bai!" The old researcher straightened his back.

Bai Yuekui said no more and turned to walk out of the laboratory.

"Let's go, Orange, let's go back."

Yang Chen glanced at the modified body and followed Bai Yuekui out. "Aren't you going to wait for your brother?"

"Never mind, he can go back by himself anyway."

Yang Chen and Bai Yuekui took the elevator up and walked to the vehicle. By then, the raw materials they had brought had already been unloaded.

Yang Chen drove the vehicle out of the ecological base and headed towards Longgu Village.

As soon as the car turned into the village entrance, a group of people were seen getting ready to go at the supply station.

Leading the group was Shandong University's signature burly figure, who was inspecting the equipment he was wearing.

Next to him was Xu Tong, who was showing off the skateboard that Belenkov had made for him in front of Shandong University.

"Look, how is it? Isn't he handsome?" Shan Da curled his lips at Xu Tong's smug look.

"You begged Belenkov for ages for something like this?"

"What do you mean by this thing? Even if you used it, you wouldn't be able to fly."

"Also, who said I begged? Your brother Xu has a lot of influence, he just made it for me right away."

"Then why did I see someone who looked a lot like you kneeling there that day?"

"You must be seeing things."

At the edge of the group where Shan Da and Xu Tong were talking, Hong Kou and Po Xiao were clearly visible.

They changed into the standard combat uniforms of the Guiyuan warriors of Dragonbone Village. Although they still had a bit of the shyness of newcomers, they were talking to the people around them and had obviously integrated into the team.

Hong Kou's fiery red hair stood out conspicuously in the group.

"Hey? Aren't these the boss and the others? What a coincidence." Shan Da looked up and saw familiar faces in the car.

A warm smile immediately spread across his face as he waved hello.

The car stopped next to them, Yang Chen opened the car door, and Bai Yuekui also got out of the passenger seat.

"Are they going on a field mission?" Yang Chen's gaze swept over the entire team, finally landing on Shandong University.

"Yeah!" Shan Da patted a vehicle next to him that had been fitted with steel plates.

"Go to the ecological zone for a routine patrol, and see if you can find any old-world trinkets."

"This is also the first time that Red Bandit and Dawn have officially gone out on fieldwork. Let's take them to familiarize themselves with the environment and practice their skills," Shan Da added with a grin, pointing to the two prospective Awakeners beside him.

"Ah."

Bai Yuekui's cool gaze lingered on Hong Kou and Po Xiao for a moment before he nodded slightly.

"Now that you've mastered the Return to Origin technique, you can indeed carry out field missions. Be careful."

"Don't worry, bosses, I'll definitely be back safely!" Shandong Da assured him, patting his chest.

Hong Kou and Po Xiao nodded calmly: "We will be careful."

Yang Chen smiled and glanced at the energetic team, which consisted of veterans mentoring newcomers.

"Okay, be careful. The terrain over there is complicated, so don't be careless."

"Understood, Mr. Yang." Everyone nodded in response.

"Let's go, let's go, it'll be dark if we dawdle any longer!" Shan Da called out and got into the driver's seat first.

Xu Tong and the others quickly boarded the vehicle.

Hong Kou and Po Xiao glanced at Yang Chen and Bai Yue Kui one last time before nimbly climbing into the back of the car.

The vehicle gradually drove away under the watchful eyes of Yang Chen and Bai Yuekui.

"Hmm," Bai Yuekui stretched, looking at the sun that was almost completely setting in the sky.

"Let's go, Orange, let's eat. We've been starving all day."
