Chapter 34 Population +2
Is Yang Chen there?

Is Yang Chen there?

Bai Yuetian's electronic synthesized voice rang out from the communicator on Yang Chen's waist.

Bai Yuetian usually doesn't contact me unless there's nothing else going on, so why did she suddenly contact me today?

He took out his communicator and pressed a button: "I'm here, what's up?"

"Two people came down from the lighthouse. They looked quite young and had no equipment. It seemed like they had been sent on a long journey."

"How do you know that some of them came down?" Antarctic Star's voice also came through the communicator.

It seems he's with Bai Yuetian now.

"Of course we deployed drones to monitor them, you idiot," Bai Yuetian said smugly.

"Why are you spying on them for no reason?" Nanjixing asked, puzzled. "Are you just bored?"

"If other settlements are all being monitored, why can't I be?"

Bai Yuetian changed the subject.

"Of course, I mainly wanted to see what their hall looked like."

"Did you record it? Let me see it too." Nanjixing's interest was immediately piqued.

"How could it possibly be recorded? If it flew any closer, it would be detected. If..."

Yang Chen hung up the communicator, not intending to listen to this unreliable conversation any longer.

He peeked towards the bathroom; the sound of running water could be heard. Bai Yuekui had just returned from his morning exercise and was taking a shower.

"Yue Kui, I'm going out for a bit," he said loudly.

"Alright, go ahead." Bai Yuekui's cold voice came from behind the door.

The heavy metal base of the lifting platform crashed onto the ground covered with gravel and dust, kicking up a cloud of choking smoke.

Hong Kou and Po Xiao were jolted back a few steps by the violent tremor before they could barely stand.

“Let’s head north,” Red Collar said, looking at Dawn.

The figures I saw that day were standing to the north, which is also a direction far from the core ecological area.

Perhaps the surviving humans on the ground are those who survived there.

With no weapons and no supplies, all that remained was the cold pistol Victor had given them, tucked into the Red Bandits' waistband, a heavy reminder of their "decent" choice.

Dawn's left arm still ached slightly, a lingering discomfort from the dislocation during the previous mission.

The two walked side by side for about half an hour.

“We…” Hong Kou had just begun to speak when her voice was interrupted by a sudden, familiar, and chilling hiss.

Roar.
Several snake-dog figures crawled out from the buried ruins and silently appeared on the edge of their field of vision.

Their limbs made a soft sound as they stepped on the gravel, and the glowing tentacles on their heads flashed rapidly with a pale blue light, clearly indicating that they had spotted these two "prey" that exuded an alluring aura of life essence.

"Damn it! We ran into him again!" Dawn's expression changed, and he instinctively shielded Red Armor behind him, even though he was unarmed.

He quickly scanned his surroundings, looking for terrain he could hide in or use—there was only an open area and a few dilapidated low walls.

Hong Kou's heart sank to the bottom.

Is it possible that after leaving the lighthouse, one will immediately perish in the jaws of the Devouring Beasts?

She abruptly drew the pistol from her waist, the cold metallic touch calming her down for a moment.

"Dawn, retreat to that low wall!" Red Bandit's voice was resolute, his gun pointed at the first snake-dog that pounced on him.

boom!boom!
The gunshots sounded particularly jarring in the empty wasteland.

The bullet struck the snake-dog precisely in the head, splattering a red liquid.

The snake-dog let out a painful hiss and paused, but did not fall down.

This damage is nothing more than provocation to them.

More snakes and dogs were attracted, gathering from all directions, their eyes filled with greed.

They crouched low, growling softly, and slowly approached the two.

Red and Dawn leaned against a low wall that offered only a meager amount of cover, the few bullets remaining in their pistols seeming utterly useless.

Despair overwhelmed the two of them in an instant.

They exchanged a glance and saw the resentment and...acceptance in each other's eyes.

At least, they are together.

Just as several snake-dogs leaped up simultaneously, their sharp claws and fangs pouncing towards the two in the nick of time—

Whoosh!
A blurry figure appeared suddenly, as if by teleportation, between Red Envoy, Dawn, and Devouring Beast.

The figure appeared so fast that it created a sonic boom, whipping up a gust of wind that also stirred up dust from the ground. The leaping snake-dogs were sent flying backward, howling as if hit by a train.

Hong Kou and Po Xiao stared in shock, their hearts nearly stopping.

Humanity.

There are indeed still humans living on the ground.

They only saw a tall, upright figure standing in front of them, facing the ferocious horde of Devouring Beasts.

"Tsk, Bai Yuetian hung up too early." A slightly lazy young male voice rang out.

His tone was calm and unhurried, clearly indicating that he didn't take the group of Devouring Beasts in front of him seriously.

"Thank goodness I heard your gunshots."

Yang Chen casually raised one hand, his palm facing the Devouring Beasts that were about to pounce again.

[Dragon Blast]
boom--! ! !
A crimson fireball appeared out of thin air and expanded instantly!

A torrent of flames erupted from Yang Chen's palm, instantly engulfing the snake-dogs that were charging at the front.

The extreme heat distorted the air, and a pungent, burnt smell filled the air.

The snakes and dogs didn't even have time to scream before they were reduced to ashes in the flames, leaving not even a trace of their remains.

Then another dragon explosion followed, and the entire horde of Devouring Beasts behind them was wiped out.

From Yang Chen's appearance to the end of the battle, only a few seconds passed.

Apart from the crackling sound of the flames burning, everything else on the field was completely silent.

Hong Kou and Po Xiao froze on the spot, their minds blank.

Despite not carrying any weapons or similar equipment, he could trigger an explosion simply by raising his hand.

This is completely beyond their knowledge.

Is this...is this really something a human can do?

Yang Chen turned around and his gaze fell on the two still-shaken people, especially Dawn's left arm, which was hanging in a sling.

"You came down from the lighthouse, right?" Yang Chen's voice was flat, revealing no emotion. "On a long journey?"

He knows the lighthouse, and he knows the journey!

Hong Kou suppressed her emotions and forced herself to calm down. She took a deep breath and tried to make her voice sound normal.

"Yes, my name is Red Cowl, and he is Dawn. Thank you for saving us."

Her words were concise, but the shock deep in her eyes could not be hidden.

Dawn nodded with difficulty.

"Hmm." Yang Chen responded casually, his gaze lingering on Dawn's left arm for a moment. "An injured arm means being fed to the Devouring Beasts? That's cruel?"

Then he looked at Hong Kou: "You don't seem to have any injuries, do you? Why did you come down here too?"

Before the two could answer, Yang Chen stepped forward and placed his hand on Dawn's body.

Upon seeing this action, Hong Kou instantly became alert and gripped his gun tightly.

"Don't be nervous, I mean no harm." Yang Chen said without turning his head.

As the blue light enveloped Dawn, Yang Chen released his grip and said to Dawn, "Try it, your hand is healed now."

At dawn, he moved his left arm in disbelief; the discomfort in his hand had indeed disappeared.

This situation was once again beyond their comprehension.

"You two have nowhere else to go, right?" Yang Chen looked at the two of them, not intending to explain his abilities from earlier.

"Would you like to come with me? Our village usually takes in outsiders."

Village?

It sounds like there are quite a few humans living on the ground?

Hong Kou and Po Xiao exchanged a glance, both seeing the determination in each other's eyes.

Staying here means certain death; this mysterious and powerful young man is their only chance of survival.

Without any hesitation, the two nodded at the same time.

"Okay, let's go then."

Yang Chen said no more, and an invisible force instantly enveloped Hong Kou and Dawn.

The two felt their bodies lighten and their feet leave the ground.

Before they could even cry out in surprise, the three of them flew away into the distance.
