Chapter 19 Antidote Pills

Morning light filtered through the gap in the curtains, and when Yang Chen opened his eyes, he found Bai Yuekui was no longer in bed. A note lay on the bedside table: "Go to the ecological base to debug equipment. Breakfast is in the kitchen."

He sat up, rubbing his still slightly sore lower back. Fortunately, the dog talisman not only granted him immortality but also kept his body in peak condition.

The aroma of food wafted from the kitchen. Yang Chen picked up his bowl and devoured the entire breakfast he had prepared.

After a quick wash, Yang Chen put on his coat and slowly walked out of the house.

The mornings in Longgu Village are always full of energy. Villagers are planting rice seedlings in the terraced fields, and several children are chasing and playing as they run past.

He wandered aimlessly, and before he knew it, he had arrived at the training ground. Ulan Aodeng's booming voice drifted from afar:

"Sit firmly in the horse stance, and your resolve to return to the origin will remain unshaken!"

Yang Chen raised an eyebrow, leaning against the wooden railing at the edge of the training field, watching the scene unfold with interest. Ulan Aodeng stood before a group of young trainees, arms crossed, brows furrowed, like an unshakeable mountain. The trainees' legs trembled as they struggled to regulate their breathing, trying to maintain their composure.

"If you want to become an enlightened practitioner as soon as possible, you need to lay a solid foundation! I'm more stable than you guys when I'm squatting in the toilet!"

At the very back of the line, a small figure stood out – Ulan Maiduo, Aodeng's six-year-old daughter, was practicing horse stance with great seriousness, following her brother Ulan Haisang. Her little face was flushed, and her chubby little hands were clenched into fists, looking very focused.

Two falcons, seemingly a pair, stood close together on the stone pier behind them, chirping and chattering.

Ulanhai Sang muttered to himself, "Squatting on the toilet is stable, he's probably constipated."

"Brother, Dad will be angry if you say that," Maiduo whispered to Haisang.

"Shh! Don't speak!" Hai Sang glanced nervously at her father, afraid that her younger sister would be discovered to have secretly infiltrated the training team.

"Who's talking behind me!" Ulan Aodeng roared.

Ulan Aodeng had noticed it long ago. He strode over, looked down at his youngest daughter, and his serious expression softened slightly.

"Sweetie, who let you come?"

Maiduo tilted her little face up, her eyes sparkling: "Daddy trains, Maiduo wants to train too!"

Ao Deng paused for a second, then suddenly squatted down and pinched his daughter's cheek: "Okay, then you can practice with me, but if you get tired, just sit quietly to the side, okay?"

Maiduo nodded vigorously, then continued striking the pose, like a kitten trying to imitate a tiger. Yang Chen couldn't help but laugh out loud, but Ao Deng keenly caught it.

"Boss Yang, are you watching the show?" Ao Deng raised an eyebrow.

"Just passing by, just passing by." Yang Chen raised his hands in a gesture of surrender.

Yang Chen turned and left, continuing his stroll.

With his hands behind his back, Ulan Aodeng surveyed his territory like a lion, his sharp gaze sweeping over the young trainees lined up in front of him.

"Returning to Origin state is not playing dead!" he suddenly shouted, startling several new trainees who almost jumped up.

A new trainee muttered to himself, "With Boss Bai and Boss Yang around, why do we still have to undergo such arduous training?"

Unfortunately, Ao Deng's hearing was too good. After hearing what the student said, he went over and kicked him to the ground.

Ulan Aodeng kicked the muttering student to the ground, his fist, as big as a clay pot, clenched so tightly it cracked. He leaned down, almost pressing his face to the other's nose: "You think Boss Bai and Boss Yang are babysitters? The day they're not in the village, are you planning to just lie down and feed the Devouring Beasts?!"

"Why don't you just say that you can hand over all the tasks to Boss Yang and then you can just laze around and wait to die?"

The trainee was sprayed with spittle and shrank back, not daring to utter a sound.

"Listen up, all of you!" Ao Deng straightened up, his voice booming, "You have to be strong yourself to succeed! Boss Bai and Boss Yang may be strong, but that's their skill! You bunch of brats, if you can't even maintain your Guiyuan stage, you might as well go plant potatoes!" The training ground was silent; even Mai Duo was so frightened she clung to her brother's leg. Ao Deng picked up a wooden stick and tapped the ground: "Now! Everyone, two extra hours of horse stance training! Whoever collapses first has to clean up all the garbage in the village tonight!"

Yang Chen walked to Xia Tianlai's doorstep and bumped into Xia Hua, who was returning with a first-aid kit.

"Xia Hua? Are you going out?"

The girl nodded to him and said, "My dad told me to give these pills to the people who are going on field missions to test their effectiveness."

Is Lao Xia home now?

"He's still fiddling with things in his medical room." Xia Hua frowned, as if recalling something unpleasant. "Xu Tong is there too."

"Okay, I'll go take a look."

Yang Chen nodded, then turned and walked towards the medical room.

Pushing open the door to the medical room, a strong smell of herbs mixed with some indescribable fermenting odor wafted out.

He instinctively covered his nose and saw Xia Tianlai wearing a gas mask, holding a dark green pill in his hand, while Xu Tong lay on the testing table looking utterly hopeless, with what appeared to be a tube inserted into his buttocks.

"Old Xia, what's going on?" Yang Chen stood at the door, hesitating whether to go in.

Xia Tian arrived without looking up, his voice muffled through his gas mask: "Boss Yang, you've come at the perfect time! Quick, help me hold Xu Tong down, that kid's trying to run away again!"

Xu Tong struggled to lift his head, his face turning green: "Boss Yang, help me! Old Xia forced me to eat fermented beans for three days, and now he wants me to..." Before he could finish speaking, his stomach suddenly let out a long "gurgle"— Xia Tianlai reacted quickly and started the machine that connected the tubes.

"puff--!!!"

A thick stream of green gas gushed out and instantly entered the glass bottle inside the machine through the tube.

"Enough, enough!" Xia Tian took off his mask and said with a smile, "Now all that's left is to test your potential!"

Xu Tong weakly stretched out his hand: "I...I think I'm going to die."

"How could he die so easily?" Xia Tian yanked the tube out of Xu Tong's buttocks.

what--!
Xu Tong let out another scream, and there seemed to be tears glistening in the corners of her eyes.

He stood up, pulled up his pants, and wiped away the tears from the corners of his eyes: "Old Xia, if you don't change the extraction method, I won't come again."

"Don't worry, I'll think about it and make some improvements later." Xia Tianlai glared at Xu Tong: "You think I'd enjoy looking at your butt?"

"Alright, go to Belenkov and get your equipment, then go out with Boss Yang."

In the summer, he pushed aside the equipment containing the green gas and took a few dark green pills from the table.

He put the pills into a box, then walked up to Xu Tong and handed him the pills.

"It probably won't do you any good if you eat it, give it to Shandong University."

Xu Tong took the pills, his eyes darting around: "Take a few more, I'm afraid that fat guy won't have enough."

"You little rascal," Xia Tianlai said with a laugh, then handed the remaining few pieces from the table to Xu Tong.

After putting the pills in his pocket, Xu Tong followed Yang Chen out of the medical room.
