Lu Mingfei, become the King of Elden!

Isn't Chapter 240 quite arrogant?

Isn't Chapter 240 quite arrogant?
His gaze returned to Xia Mi's face, where his usually lazy eyes were now sparkling with something Xia Mi had never seen before.

"So sometimes I think..."

Lu Mingfei said softly:
"If I... I mean, if I possessed that, well, the most absolute power in the world, the power to do whatever I wanted."

He tilted his head slightly, his tone somewhat nonchalant.

"Then what I need to do is very simple—I want to make everything, everyone, run exactly the way I want it to."

"I don't like seeing people cry, so give me smiles. I don't like parting, so give me reunions. I don't like..."

He paused:

"...If you don't want someone to die, then they're not allowed to die."

"Simple, direct, how great."

He shrugged, making a "Isn't this just common sense?" expression, but for a moment, the complex and dignified aura emanating from him sent a chill down Xia Mi's spine.

"Isn't that pretty arrogant?" He looked at Xia Mi with an innocent expression. "I can't help it, your senior brother is just that kind of person who hates trouble and is self-righteous."

The smile on Xia Mi's face had vanished without a trace.

She watched Lu Mingfei quietly as he spoke in the most indifferent tone the most arrogant, rebellious, and dragon-like way of thinking.

That's not a desire that humans should have, nor is it even a fantasy that ordinary ambitious people or people with delusions of grandeur would have.

That is the desire to set rules, distort reality, and control destiny.

It is a mindset that only beings at the top of all living beings can naturally develop.

A hint of surprise flashed deep in her eyes, as if she were seeing the true nature of the person in front of her for the first time.

This wasn't the arrogance one would expect from a young S-class hybrid; it was more like the arrogance of a king.

Several seconds passed before she took a very light breath, trying to keep her tone light, as if she had only been startled by the absurd joke:
"Senior brother... this is no longer just arrogance..."

She blinked:
"You're just... hopelessly delusional! Wake up! Norma's calling you back for your make-up exam!"

"Junior sister, you need to update your information. My two make-up exams have been 'passed' directly by special privileges."

He muttered to himself, put his hands back in his pockets, and resumed his usual unserious manner:

"I'm leaving, I'm almost completely drained of my artistic talent, I desperately need carbohydrates to revive me."

He headed towards the museum exit first.

Xia Mi watched his retreating figure, her expression shifting several times before she quickly followed, a sweet smile returning to her face.

The two walked out of the museum, the Chicago afternoon sun was a bit too bright.

Lu Mingfei squinted at his phone:

"It's almost time, I need to pick up two people."

"Who?"

Xia Mi asked curiously.

"My senior brothers and sisters."

Lu Mingfei's words were concise and to the point.

On the way to the airport, the atmosphere inside the car was subtly quiet.

Lu Mingfei stared intently at the passing street scene outside the window, while Xia Mi fiddled with her phone, occasionally glancing up to steal a glance at Lu Mingfei's profile.

As they approached the airport, Lu Mingfei seemed to suddenly remember something and turned to ask:
"By the way, after we pick them up this afternoon, is there anywhere you'd like to go? We can't just keep going to museums, can we?"

Xia Mi raised her head, blinked, her eyes full of expectation, and said without hesitation:

"Amusement park! Let's go to the amusement park!"

"An amusement park?" Lu Mingfei was somewhat surprised. "Like Six Flags? Roller coasters and drop towers?"

"Yes, yes!" Xia Mi nodded vigorously, clasped her hands together, and looked at him with bright eyes:
"It's that kind of place! With a carousel, a Ferris wheel, cotton candy, and a roller coaster that'll scare you so much you'll scream! Senior, it's your treat!"

Lu Mingfei was a little bewildered by her sudden surge of emotion:

"Why are you suddenly so interested in amusement parks? You seemed quite deep in thought when you were looking at the paintings just now..."

Xia Mi's smile faded slightly. She turned her head to look out the window, and her voice became softer.

"Because I loved going there when I was little."

She whispered, her fingers unconsciously tracing patterns on the car window:

"But... no one ever takes me there."

“Other children are all led by their parents or older siblings, playing this and that, eating ice cream, and laughing very loudly... I can only watch from afar, or go ride the carousel by myself for a while... It's so boring.”

She withdrew her fingers, hugged her backpack tightly, rested her chin on the strap, and turned her head to look at Lu Mingfei. Her eyes were simply...like those of a pitiful little dog.

"So, senior brothers, can you take me with you this time? It'll be more fun with lots of people!"

Looking at her like that, Lu Mingfei felt a slight prick in his heart.

He thought of his own equally colorless childhood, of those times he spent alone. He was silent for a few seconds, then turned his head to look out the window, muttering:

"Alright, alright, just don't call me when you ride the roller coaster, and don't come looking for me if you cry from fright."

He didn't refuse.

Xia Mi's face instantly lit up as if illuminated by sunlight:

"Senior brother is the best!"

The airport exit was crowded with people, and Lu Mingfei didn't have to wait long before he saw that familiar figure.

Chu Zihang remained as aloof as ever, dragging a simple suitcase and coldly scanning the crowd of people waiting at the airport. He nodded slightly when he saw Lu Mingfei.

However, when he saw Susie walking in that direction at almost the same time as him, a hint of doubt flashed in his eyes.

Susie also saw them, especially Chu Zihang. She paused for a moment, then quickly regained her composure, pulling her suitcase as she walked over with a gentle smile on her face.
"What a coincidence? Zihang, Mingfei."

Her gaze fell on Xia Mi.

"Senior Sister Susie."

Lu Mingfei greeted them, then stepped aside to introduce them:
"This is Xia Mi, a freshman who came up from the preparatory class, with a bloodline rating of A. Xia Mi, this is Senior Brother Chu Zihang, the president of the Lionheart Society; this is Senior Sister Su Xi, the vice president of the Lionheart Society."

"Greetings, Senior Brother Chu! Greetings, Senior Sister Su!"

Xia Mi immediately greeted them politely, her eyes sparkling as she scanned back and forth between Chu Zihang and Su Qian, her curiosity undisguised.

Chu Zihang nodded to Xia Mi and said:
"Hello."

He greeted her, then looked at Susie, his tone indifferent:
"Aren't you on tomorrow's flight?"

He remembered that Susie had said that in her previous email.

Susie, with a natural expression and a smile, explained:
"I finished taking care of things at home beforehand, so I changed my flight. I didn't expect it to be such a coincidence that we landed at the same time."

As she spoke, she glanced at Lu Mingfei almost inadvertently.

Lu Mingfei understood immediately and stepped forward to warmly take the suitcase from Susie's hands:
"Oh, Senior Sister, you've worked so hard! Let me do it! Senior Brother, you really are something, you didn't even know to help Senior Sister with her luggage."

As he spoke, he quickly and quietly mumbled something to Susie, using his body as cover:
"The final payment is $25, cash or card payment is fine."

Susie's smile froze for a moment, almost crumbling. Using the motion of smoothing her hair, she turned her head and responded through gritted teeth in a voice barely audible to the two of them:
"Lu Mingfei! Are you robbing me? Flight information for $50? Wasn't it supposed to be $25 per message?"

This isn't the first or second time they've made a deal.

She returned to school early because of the information about Chu Zihang's flight that Lu Mingfei had "sold" to her, but she didn't expect that this guy would charge such exorbitant fees, even for subsequent changes.
