Chapter 94 Acting Bravely
Chapter 94 Acting Bravely
The orange-red sunset pierced through the clouds and shone down, almost disappearing at the horizon. As dusk fell, the enchanting moonlight hazily outlined the city's silhouette.
A yacht returned home in high spirits, slowly sailing into the harbor. The colorful lights and loud music broke the tranquility of the harbor, suggesting that the party was far from over.
However, from the backlight, a figure can be seen swaying precariously on the ship's side, walking on a steel cable as if performing acrobatics. It is vaguely visible that he is trying to control his center of gravity, and his swaying steps are precarious, which is truly terrifying.
Lu Zhizhou grabbed Leclerc, "Charles, over there, is that person about to fall?"
Leclerc followed the gaze and his heart tightened. "Oh no. What do we do? In Monaco, people fall off yachts every now and then."
Lu Zhizhou couldn't believe his ears.
Leclerc spread his hands. "I'm serious. You don't want to know what they're doing on the yacht."
Taking a deep breath, Lu Zhizhou suppressed the urge to complain and regained his composure. "Is the water deep at the port? Are there any undercurrents?"
Leclerc glanced around. "The water depth should be fine, and there are no undercurrents, so he's probably not in any life-threatening danger. But if he's not fully conscious..."
That would be bad.
A quick glance suggests that the yacht is about three stories high. If that person were to fall and be hit hard by the water, he would likely be knocked unconscious.
Without hesitation, Lu Zhizhou looked around. He believed that there should be security personnel at the port to deal with emergencies, and they needed help.
"Xia Er, where are the security personnel, or lifeguards?" Lu Zhizhou called out.
Without a word, Leclerc rushed out and sprinted toward the lifeguards.
Lu Zhizhou ran wildly toward the yacht, and could vaguely see figures dancing wildly on the deck, immersed in music and alcohol.
"Hey! Danger!"
He paused for a moment, then a brilliant idea struck him: "Fire! Fire!"
He shouted and waved, then took out his phone, turned on the emergency flashlight, and scanned the figures on the deck, trying to attract attention.
However, the loud music and glaring lights on the yacht did nothing to help. Standing in front of the enormous vessel, Lu Zhizhou felt like an ant looking up at an elephant.
Worse still, the time left for Lu Zhizhou to try quickly dwindled to zero.
The figure swayed against the railing, eventually hanging down like clothes on a rack, with vomit visible falling from it.
The next second, he flipped over and plummeted rapidly under the pull of gravity, leaving no time to react before crashing into the sea.
Snapped!
Lu Zhizhou thought there would be a huge splash, but to his surprise, there was just a splash, and he disappeared into the deep blue sea. Not even the ripples spread. In the blink of an eye, the sea was calm again, and the yacht was still filled with singing and dancing. He did not feel any disturbance.
Oh no, it's too late.
Lu Zhizhou looked in the direction Leclerc had left. He was still sprinting, running and shouting. Everything was happening too fast for him to catch up with.
Taking a deep breath, Lu Zhizhou sprinted towards the dock, quickly surveying the water as he ran. The water was calm and still, like a dark blue velvet curtain slowly unfolding. It was more like a lake than a sea.
Without further hesitation, Lu Zhizhou leaped into the sea, feeling the chill of the water rushing towards him and instantly enveloping him.
As expected, Leclerc was right; there was no detectable undercurrent in the harbor.
With his last lingering doubts gone, Lu Zhizhou identified his direction and began to run at full speed. Judging from the distance, the point where the figure had fallen should be about 200 meters away; in reality, it was even further away, estimated to be nearly 300 meters. Lu Zhizhou expended considerable effort to reach that location.
But what about people?
When he was identifying the direction, he could see people like buoys, but now they were gone. Taking a deep breath, Lu Zhizhou submerged into the water.
The view was clearer than he had imagined. The hazy afterglow of the setting sun pierced through the sea and fell down like transparent jellyfish. Lu Zhizhou looked around and immediately locked onto the unconscious figure that was slowly sinking. With a sense of relief, he quickly swam over with his arms, grabbed the other person, and rushed out of the sea.
Whoops!
As air rushed into his chest, Lu Zhizhou looked down at the figure in his arms. Fortunately, the other person was already unconscious and wouldn't kick or fight back.
Lu Zhizhou remained calm. He knew he couldn't rush or panic, otherwise the situation would only get worse. He needed to allocate his energy properly. Now was the time to properly thank Coach Blasco at the Maranello training base. His six months of persistent physical training had finally paid off.
Lu Zhizhou grabbed the other man's arm and chest, turned sideways and swam towards the port with one hand. Speed wasn't the key; rhythm was.
"Zhizhou!"
"Lu Zhizhou!"
Leclerc's voice carried on the wind, trembling slightly, but Lu Zhizhou had no energy to respond. He was focused on kicking and gliding, holding his breath and trying to stay focused and calm. He had never felt that 300 meters was so long, as if he would never reach it.
Crash, crash.
The sound of water skiing came from behind. "Young man, you've worked hard. Leave it to me."
Lu Zhizhou finally breathed a sigh of relief and looked up. The lifeguard had arrived in time. He didn't try to be brave and handed the heavy body in his hands to the lifeguard.
As expected of a professional, even carrying a person, he was still faster than Lu Zhizhou, far ahead of him, and landed ashore first.
Lu Zhizhou continued at his own pace, and finally reached the shore. A hand appeared in front of him, and when he looked up, he saw Leclerc's anxious face. He grabbed Leclerc's right hand, having been almost dragged ashore by Leclerc, and was almost completely exhausted.
On the verge of life and death, the emptiness after his adrenaline surged left Lu Zhizhou lying on the ground, his heart pounding like a drum, panting heavily.
Leclerc lost his temper. "Are you crazy? You're just going to jump in like that? Lu Zhizhou, you're a race car driver, not a swimmer!"
For the first time ever, Leclerc lost control; this was the first time Lu Zhizhou had ever seen Leclerc so enraged.
Lu Zhizhou took a deep breath and sat up, a slight smile appearing on his lips. "Looks like I'll need to work on my physical fitness when I get back."
Leclerc: ...
Just as Leclerc was about to erupt again, a coughing sound came from behind, followed by a tremendous vomiting sound.
Lu Zhizhou let out a long breath and quickly said, "It's alright, thankfully it's alright."
Lu Zhizhou hurriedly stepped forward, and only then did he have time to take a closer look. The man was about forty years old, with a head of mixed white and gray hair. His soaked suit and shirt outlined the muscle lines he usually worked out at the gym. He was lying on the ground panting in a disheveled state.
Like fish that have come ashore.
Lu Zhizhou looked at the lifeguard, "He should be alright now, right?"
After receiving an affirmative reply, Lu Zhizhou smiled and said, "Then I'll leave this place to you. Thank you for your hard work."
Although the lifeguard invited Lu Zhizhou to go to the hospital for a check-up, Lu Zhizhou waved his hand and refused, pulling Leclerc away as they turned to leave.
Leclerc was filled with questions. Were they planning to do good deeds anonymously? So noble?
