Chapter 8 Poison
"Agushi, what do you mean by this?" Gu Xiongmu recognized the person at a glance; it was someone from Chixue Village.

Accompanied by a malicious sneer, a burly, bald man emerged from the woods, carrying a short axe in his hand and a short spear on his back.

Behind him were a dozen or so burly men carrying hunting knives and short spears. They also had hunting dogs, but those dogs were all black, not the white dogs that could sense danger.

“Gu Xiongmu, stop pretending. This area is our Crimson Blood Village's hunting grounds. You've been secretly poaching quite a few of our prey lately, haven't you?” Agushi's face revealed a ferocious smile. “Hand over all your prey right now, and never set foot in this hunting grounds again, or else…”

He raised the short axe in his hand and said sternly, "I'll let you know the consequences of offending our Crimson Blood Stronghold."

Gu Xiongmu glanced at the white dog nailed to the ground, a surge of malice rising in his heart. He wished he could release the Jade Centipede and kill all the people in front of him.

But they couldn't afford to mess with a large stronghold like Crimson Blood Village.

He gritted his teeth and growled in a low voice, "Put your things down and let's go."

"Boss???"

"leader?!!"

Upon hearing Gu Xiongmu's words, the members of the hunting team showed expressions of resentment and anger. Some even drew their hunting knives and roared, "What are we afraid of? Let's fight them!"

"Didn't you hear me? Put your things down and get out of here!" Gu Xiongmu roared, his blood boiling and veins bulging on his neck, looking extremely angry.

He was highly respected in the village, and no matter how dissatisfied others were, they could only grit their teeth and put down their prey at this point.

"Hahahaha, Gu Xiongmu, you're lucky you have some sense. You bunch of trash, daring to bare your teeth in front of me, I'll chop you all into mincemeat, you ignorant fools." Agu Shi and the other people from the Crimson Blood Village laughed unrestrainedly.

Without saying a word, Gu Xiongmu led his hunting party away quickly.

However, no one noticed that a jade centipede had somehow slipped out of his sleeve and silently disappeared into the dense woods.

Its vibrant green color was hidden among the branches and leaves of the tree, making it completely undetectable.

However, Wu Tian noticed Gu Xiongmu's subtle movements. His agility not only greatly improved his speed and reaction time, but also made his perception exceptionally sharp.

"It seems that Gu Xiongmu is also a ruthless person!"

White Dog Stronghold was indeed not to be trifled with Crimson Blood Stronghold, which was why he did not want to have a direct conflict with them.

But they secretly used the Jade Centipede to kill him; who knows how many of the Crimson Blood Village people will survive.

In these wild mountains, the law of the jungle is laid bare, revealing the tyranny of Crimson Blood Village and the ruthlessness of Ancient Bear Wood.

Wu Tian did not get involved in the hunt for the Jade Centipede. If the people of Crimson Blood Village discovered the White Dog's whereabouts, it would backfire.

……

"Hahaha, a bunch of cowards! If it weren't for Skull Mountain, we would have wiped out White Dog Village long ago." Agushi laughed arrogantly and ordered his people to take away all the prey left behind by White Dog Village.

The person beside him asked with some doubt, "Lord Agushi, what is the connection between White Dog Village and the immortals on Skull Mountain?"

Agu Shi stopped laughing and said solemnly, "A person from White Dog Village also went up Skull Mountain. Although he doesn't have the same status as my Crimson Python Stone from Crimson Blood Village, he did enter the Immortal Cave after all."

“Every spring, that person returns to White Dog Village, so we can suppress White Dog Village, but we can’t go too far. Otherwise, if we anger the immortal, we’ll be in deep trouble.”

Upon hearing these words, the members of the Crimson Blood Village nearby all showed expressions of awe.

"Alright, you don't need to worry too much. Three of our Crimson Blood Stronghold members have gone up Skull Mountain, and Lord Crimson Python Stone has even become the master of Skull Cave."

"Hahaha, even if Gu Xiongmu and his men were given the courage of a lion, their White Dog Village wouldn't dare to offend us."

Just as they were speaking, a jade centipede the size of a palm, hidden by the trees, pounced with terrifying speed on a man who was bending down to carry his prey. *Thud!*

The jade centipede took a bite, and venom entered its body.

Its claws and teeth were stained with blood, making it appear even more ferocious.

The centipede burrowed into the ground to search for its next prey, while the person it bit was frozen in place, motionless.

It wasn't until the jade centipede killed three people that the others realized something was wrong.

"Oh no..." someone suddenly exclaimed, "They seem to have been poisoned?"

"Go and see."

Hearing the shouts of his tribesmen, Agushi realized something was wrong and instinctively shouted, "Wait, don't come any closer!"

However, it was too late. Those who touched the poisoned corpses collapsed to the ground within a few breaths, their faces turning blue, clearly beyond saving.

Agumu's expression changed drastically in an instant, and he roared, "Everyone stay away from the corpses! Get out of here!"

All the survivors were terrified by the deadly poison and began to flee in panic.

The jade centipede showed no sign of giving up. It hid among the trees, stretching out its bloodstained claws and teeth, looking ferocious and menacing.

It followed behind the Crimson Blood Village people, and whenever it found an opportunity, it would inject its venom into the fleeing people.

As time passed, one corpse after another fell to the ground.

Agushi's face had turned deathly pale. "What on earth is going on? Is it a venomous creature that has become sentient, or a Gu poison?"

Various guesses flashed through his mind, but he didn't dare to turn around at all.

However, their frantic escape also alerted other hunters in the jungle. Hungry wolves and spotted leopards all turned their attention to the fleeing group.

Some crows, unable to bear the hunger, began to gnaw on the corpses that had already fallen to the ground, but before long, these crows also died.

Such a scene also instilled fear in the hunters of the jungle.

As the last corpse lay in the jungle, Agushi's wide pupils reflected a centipede that was entirely green.

His remaining consciousness instantly conjured up a terrifying Gu technique from the Skull Cave: the Six-Winged Flying Centipede Gu.

"The one from White Dog Village is said to be cultivating the Six-Winged Flying Centipede..."

"It was the people from White Dog Stronghold who attacked me..."

His eyes widened in disbelief, and his consciousness faded into darkness.

……

The people of White Dog Village were unaware of the massacre in the jungle. Since all the prey had been given to the people of Crimson Blood Village, Gu Xiongmu had no choice but to lead his people to other places to continue hunting. They didn't have much success until it got dark.

As evening approached, Wu Tian discovered that the Jade Centipede had quietly returned. The worm's back was stained with blood, making it look particularly ferocious.

Gu Xiongmu acted as if nothing had happened, and didn't even go back to the forest where the Crimson Blood Village roamed, even though they had been hunting very few prey.

Wu Tian watched all this quietly. He learned more about survival skills in the wild mountains from this person: forbearance, ruthlessness, and patience. This is what a true hunter is.
