Chapter 5 Finding Wealth in Danger

Therefore, Rennes now faces two paths:

Dragon Valley City is located in the central part of the rainforest peninsula, surrounded by towering mountains on all sides. Only the Sacred River, which runs through the valley, connects the inside and outside of the valley, making it a naturally defensible and difficult-to-attack location from a military perspective.

Unfortunately, facing the onslaught of the White Walker army, they only held out for less than a week before completely falling, with less than one-tenth of the lizardmen surviving.

The three arrived at Dragon Valley City by boat and docked at the city's pier.

Ascending along the mountainside, numerous small temples are densely packed together, interconnected by stone paths and wooden ladders. These small temples, known as scale temples, are the places where lower-ranking shamans practice their daily asceticism.

At the top of the cliff are two large temples that extend from the cliff face into the air. These two temples are called Horn Temples, where high-ranking shamans study the doctrines. The temples also enshrine the remains of an ancient dragon.

If Daiya comes into contact with the dragon bones stored in the Horn Temple, she should be able to awaken the dragon bloodline within her.

The premise is that those lizardman shamans cannot be allowed to cause trouble.

Thinking back to the mastermind behind the attack on him by the White Walkers, Raine began to form a plan... but then he heard Dia suddenly say beside him:

"Your Excellency Wizard, thank you for saving me in Swamp Town."

"I'm going to find the shamanic group in Dragon Valley City and tell them about the ultimate fate of Swamp Town, so that Dragon Valley City can prepare for war."

If Daiya were to rush off to deliver the warning, she probably wouldn't even be able to get through the gates of the Scale Temple.

As he passed by the inn, he saw a lizard-man beggar sitting there begging.

“Kind sir, please give the disabled old lizardman a copper coin.”

"You're disabled?" Renn looked at his intact limbs and asked skeptically, "How come I can't tell?"

The lizard beggar pulled out his tail, which was placed under his buttocks, and it was clear that the end was broken off, as if it had been cut off by a sharp weapon.

“I used to be an adventurer, until I was shot in the tail with an arrow,” he said in a weathered voice. “The wound became necrotic, and I had to have it amputated. Now I can only survive by begging.”

Renn took out a gold coin and tossed it to him.

"Ah—may the Dragon God bless you, kind sir." The lizardman beggar grinned, letting out a lazy laugh, but then heard Renn ask:
"I want to find out some information."

"Why would the master ask a poor lizardman beggar?"

“Don’t play dumb, I know you’re one of the ‘Rat’,” Ryan said coldly. “If you’re paid, you have to do your job. Answer my questions.”

"Have there been any reports of large-scale disappearances of villagers in the villages and towns south of Dragon Valley City recently?"
