Chapter 32 The Ibri Clan

"Old man! I'm back!" The window of the Hokage's office was pushed open from the outside, and Jiraiya, reeking of alcohol, staggered in.

Hiruzen Sarutobi, who was sitting in the Hokage's seat, processing documents and lost in thought, was startled awake by Jiraiya's sudden arrival. Turning around, he saw Jiraiya stagger and fall to the ground from the window.

The ANBU ninjas hiding around, responsible for protecting the Hokage, endured it and silently shifted their gaze.

"Ah, Jiraiya, you've come back just in time." Hiruzen Sarutobi spun his chair, picked up his pipe, and after taking two puffs, he could smell the alcohol emanating from Jiraiya.

In the 51st year of Konoha, after the Third Shinobi World War, Jiraiya and Tsunade both chose to leave the village for their own reasons, to travel and train.

Of the three legendary Sannin, only Orochimaru remained in the village, but he was busy with various experiments and even colluded with Danzo.

Before Orochimaru's experiments on Konoha ninjas were exposed, he had already lost his qualifications to become the Fourth Hokage.

Because he chose the wrong side and cooperated with Danzo, he gradually drifted away from his teacher, Hiruzen Sarutobi, in politics.

Therefore, Orochimaru's defeat to Minato in the Fourth Hokage election was actually predetermined.

"Weren't we doing research in the Land of Hot Springs during this time?" Jiraiya scratched the back of his head and got up from the ground.

After the war between Konoha and Kumogakure broke out, Jiraiya did not go to the battlefield, but he traveled around the border of the Land of Fire and the Land of Hot Water. Hiruzen Sarutobi remained noncommittal, nodded slightly, and handed a scroll from the table to Jiraiya.

"Orochimaru has defected." Hiruzen Sarutobi's casual remark left Jiraiya stunned.

Realizing what was happening, Jiraiya exclaimed in astonishment, "Old man! What are you talking about! Orochimaru, how could he—"

Before he could finish speaking, Jiraiya saw the scroll that Hiruzen Sarutobi handed him, which contained the testimonies of some Konoha ninjas who had survived the live experiments.

He took the scroll with trembling hands and examined it carefully.

It contains detailed records of the ninjas rescued from Orochimaru's secret laboratory and the large amount of experimental materials found during the operation, as well as shocking experimental logs.

After reading these materials, Jiraiya's expression turned solemn, and he remained silent for a long time.

He even disregarded the prophecy of the 'Child of Darkness'.

"I'm going to bring him back right now!" Jiraiya slammed the documents on the table and leaped out of the window menacingly.

Hiruzen Sarutobi, pipe in hand, stood up from his chair and stood by the window, watching Jiraiya's afterimage moving rapidly across the village rooftops, and sighed deeply.

Northern Fire Country.

Deep in a forest, 'Ko', who would later become the Wood Release ninja 'Yamato', wearing a tanuki mask, was on Danzo's orders to reach the place he had arranged to meet Orochimaru.

Arriving at the largest, towering tree in the forest, Yamato slowly stopped and walked closer to the tree's roots.

A bottomless tree hole appeared before them, and Yamato slowly walked inside.

Inside the tree hollow was a long tunnel, with oil lamps hanging on the left and right sides to illuminate the passage; clearly, this was not a natural formation.

As Yamato was cautiously observing his surroundings, a cloud of smoke rose from the underground space, blurring his vision.

Yamato immediately sensed that the smoke was unusual and carried a dangerous aura.

"Who are you? Why do you know about this place?" A muffled voice came from the smoke.

Yamato immediately identified himself: "I am Danzo's subordinate! I have come here on Lord Orochimaru's behalf!"

Upon hearing this, a cloud of smoke coalesced into a human shape, gradually drifting to Yamato's side and circling around him.

The surrounding smoke coalesced into blurry human figures, appearing like ghosts and encircling Yamato, who was wearing a tanuki mask.

One of the pale red plumes of smoke even circled around Yamato several times.

"This is a letter from Lord Danzo." Yamato took out a scroll from his robes and handed it to the tall, smoky figure in front of him.

The latter took the scroll and examined it, muttering to himself, "It is indeed Lord Danzo's seal."

He then dispelled the smoke and transformed into a tall, simply dressed adult man with a small mustache.

The surrounding smoke dissipated, and people reverted to their human forms, with men and women dressed in plain clothes and short shirts appearing in the underground space.

'An ability I've never heard of before, is it a bloodline limit?' Yamato looked at the more than twenty figures around him in shock.

"Tenzo! Is that you?!" A little girl's joyful cry made Yamato's numb emotions tremble slightly.

He turned his head and saw that the pale red smoke that had been circling him several times had transformed into a little girl about his age, with freckles on her face, curly hair, and a pair of bright, watery eyes looking at him.

“Xuejian, he is not Tianzang.” Wutai, the leader of the Ibri clan, who was holding the scroll of letters in his hand, shook his head slightly.

"Well then, tell me the situation." Wutai returned the letter to Yamato and asked, "As long as it's for Lord Orochimaru, our Ibri clan will do anything!"

At the dimly lit tunnel entrance, a mysterious figure wearing a three-eyed fox mask and a long robe with a fur collar slowly walked towards them.
