Chapter 26 Leaving the Orphanage

Outside the Konoha Orphanage, the laughter of children playing drifted on the wind.

Three days in the mountains and Kado stood not far away, their eyes sweeping over the group of carefree figures.

Santen Yamanaka, with one hand on his hip, said, "Mr. Gato, these children are war orphans from Konoha and the surrounding areas. Their backgrounds are clean, and whether they have ninja talent still needs further testing."

He was in charge of the initial contact with Kado and the subsequent adoption process.

Yamanaka Santen, a Chunin of the Yamanaka clan, is 15 years old. More than ten years later, during the Fourth Shinobi World War, he formed a team with Nara Shizuku and Naoki to help Kakashi fight against the reanimated Zabuza and the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist.

"It's alright. Actually, it's my fault for demanding ninja talent." Gato looked amiable, a far cry from the ruthless figure he had when he dominated the business world.

"Then let's go visit the director first," said Santen Yamanaka, walking towards the orphanage.

Cardo followed closely behind with a bodyguard.

As he approached the orphanage, Kado's small eyes, hidden behind his sunglasses, narrowed slightly as he scanned each orphan, searching for the target assigned by 'that adult'.

But after searching for a long time among these orphans, they still couldn't find the child described by 'that adult'.

'Strange, isn't it here?' Kado frowned to himself.

Suddenly, a solitary figure under a large tree in the distance caught Kado's attention.

Sunlight filters through the leaves, dappling the grass. A child under the shade of a tree plays with a doll, seemingly oblivious to the world around him.

That indifferent expression and aloof demeanor were exactly like 'that person'.

Kado walked over without even realizing it.

Menma actually saw Kado when he first arrived, but she didn't deliberately guide him in order not to attract the attention of others.

After Kado reached the shade of the tree, he slowly raised his head, his young face showing a calmness beyond his years: "You're here. How's the preparation?"

That familiar tone reminded Kado of 'that person's' instructions.

"You found a child named Menma at the Konoha orphanage. He's a member of the organization, and his rank is higher than yours. Your task is to take good care of him."

Gato originally thought that Gato was a teenage orphan with high ninja talent, which is why he was recruited into the organization.

After all, "that person" himself destroyed half of the Hidden Cloud Village, and Kakuzu, whom he had subdued, also displayed a formidable fighting power while protecting him.

The child in front of them looked no more than three or four years old, still very childish, but he was clutching a dark red fox doll with a strange mask in his hand.

Is it really the target assigned by 'that person'?
So Kado tentatively said, "The house and branch office have been arranged."

"Let's go." Menma stood up, his tone leaving no room for argument.

“Yes.” Kado was finally convinced that the child was indeed the person 'that person' had asked him to find.

In front of the orphanage.

“Menma!” Yunnai, the acting director of the orphanage, stood with her hands on her hips next to Santen in the mountains, her eyes full of helplessness as she looked at Menma.

This child is always so withdrawn and unsociable, which makes people worry about him.

“So his name is Menma.” Kado nodded to Santen in the mountains and said, “I feel a connection with this child. He’ll be the one.”

The three days in the mountains were a bit of a surprise. He had just found the acting dean, Yunnai, when he didn't expect that Kado would find a suitable candidate.

He raised his orange eyebrows slightly and glanced at the child next to Kado who was holding a fox doll.

Yunna hurriedly explained, "Menma is an orphan from three years ago, and he has a rather withdrawn personality, so he's probably not suitable..."

three years ago……

Upon hearing this information, Santen in the mountains recalled the terrifying orange-red nine-tailed fox.

After that day, the village had many more orphans.

Three days into the mountain, Yamanaka's attitude towards Muma softened somewhat. He squatted down, took out a chakra meter from his pocket, and said to Muma, "Little friend, try this."

Menma expressionlessly accepted the square chakra testing paper and tried to mobilize his fire-style chakra. Soon, the tip of the paper began to burn.

"It's fire attribute." There were no surprises in the three days in the mountains. Most of the orphans here were war orphans from Konoha and the Land of Fire, so it was normal for them to have talent.

So he stood up and said to Acting Dean Yunnai, "Then, let's choose this child."

“But…” Yunnai was still a little worried. Menma was still too young, and his personality was too withdrawn.

"Aunt Yunnai, let me go." Menma looked up at Yunnai and spoke softly.

Although Menma was the youngest of the more than twenty children in the orphanage, Yunna felt as if she were looking into the eyes of an adult.

For some reason, Yunnai always had a feeling that Menma shouldn't be in the orphanage.

Finally, Yunnai sighed deeply and watched with the children from the orphanage as Menma was taken away.

"Mianma! Remember to come back and see us!" shouted Aqi, the oldest of the group of children.

The other children also waved goodbye, their eyes filled with reluctance.

Menma tilted his head slightly, his gaze sweeping over Aqi and the orphans, and he remembered his promise to Yakushi Kabuto.

"Yes, I will," Menma replied softly.

After leaving the orphanage, Kado and Yamanaka Santen took Menma to the administrative center next to the Hokage Building to complete the adoption registration and other procedures.

With the Hokage's special approval, the adoption process was completed quickly with no obstacles in sight.

Kado, with Menma in tow, returned to the mansion he had just bought in Konoha.

"Master!" The servants in the mansion bowed in unison.

"Yes, you may all leave." Kado waved his hand.

The servants all withdrew.

Only Menma and Kado remained in the room.

“We don’t need so many servants, just two to take care of your daily needs.” A voice that was both familiar and awe-inspiring to Kado came from the shadows.

Kado turned around abruptly and saw 'that person' wearing a mask slowly emerge from the shadows.

"I thought you'd be faster, you've kept me waiting for so long." 'Menma' looked at its original form and didn't hold back its吐槽 (tu cao, a form of sarcastic commentary).

The main body of Menma didn't say anything to his clone, but looked at Kado and said, "You can go out now."

"Yes!" Kado respectfully accepted the order.

Just as he was about to leave, the voice of 'that person' came from behind again: 'The actions within Konoha Village will be carried out according to Menma's arrangements.'

"Yes!" Kado bowed again and slowly left the room.

Wiping the sweat from his brow, Kado waited quietly outside the door.

inside the room.

"Alright, hurry up and dispel the Shadow Clone Technique. Staying in the orphanage is so boring." The clone, Mianma, pouted.

The body, its surface numb, formed hand seals: "Release!"

boom!
As the smoke dissipated, the clone Menma disappeared, and a flood of memories poured into the mind of the original Menma.

Incidentally, Menma also deactivated her transformation spell and reverted to the appearance of a three-year-old child.

"Judging by the time, Orochimaru should be defecting soon too." Menma went to the window and opened it.

From here you can see the Hokage Building and Hokage Rock in the distance.

The Fourth Hokage's image stood out prominently in Menma's eyes.
