Chapter 5 Forbidden Room...
Chapter 5 Forbidden Room...
Jiang Che was awkwardly shoved into the back seat. He quickly sat up straight and instinctively wanted to rub his neck, which was sore from being strangled, and his buttocks, which had just been bumped. But as soon as he raised his hand, he felt a murderous gaze.
He swallowed hard, his movements halting mid-air.
Jiang Che didn't dare to look directly over there, but glanced to the side out of the corner of his eye.
Yoona's entire body was taut like a fully drawn bow, her hands clenched into fists on her knees.
Jiang Che watched this scene, barely daring to breathe, trying to minimize his presence, pretending to examine the leggings on his legs, his inner monologue screaming:
"Damn... I was thinking of having her take care of me, but looking at her like this, is she trying to drag me down into the Han River?"
"That grip...it feels like it could twist my head off..."
"Oh no, I've embarrassed the time-travel genre. I'm the first one to get sliced up..."
"My sports car...my house...my abs...goodbye..."
"Should we fight her to the death? Should we use a substitution trick? Should we just take her place and go on the journey to the West to retrieve the scriptures?"
Just as Jiang Che was thinking this—
"Sizzle..."
Jiang Che felt a chill run down his spine and immediately looked toward the source of the sound.
Yoona pulled an unopened bottle of mineral water from the storage compartment, but instead of drinking it, she just played with it.
"Damn it, aren't you going to give it to me?" But Jiang Che looked at the visibly dented and deformed plastic bottle and didn't dare to say it out loud.
Jiang Che: 'Forget it, forget it, I can't afford to offend this big shot!'
He felt like he was going to die! The visual impact of this up close was even more terrifying than seeing her crush the cheering stick on stage! Was she a human hydraulic press?!
Just as the terrifying scene of "Yoona smashing a water bottle with her bare hands" was about to unfold, Yoona seemed to be suddenly awakened by the sound. She let go of the bottle and let the mineral water fall to her feet.
Looking at the pitiful bottle at his feet, Jiang Che felt no longer thirsty, and even thought that he might be the next mineral water bottle.
Yoona finally raised her head.
He pinched Jiang Che's face with both hands, looking at it from left to right, up to down, pinching it from left to right, up to down.
Jiang Che's face stung from being pinched, but he didn't dare to move and had to try his best to maintain an "I'm innocent" expression.
“You…” Yoona finally spoke, her voice hoarse and low:
"...What exactly is it?"
She seemed to no longer consider Jiang Che a human being.
"I...I really don't know!" Jiang Che was almost in tears; his sincerity reached its peak at this moment.
"I just took a nap at the hotel and woke up in the venue! I didn't even know what I looked like before I was pulled onto the stage! It wasn't until I got on stage that I realized I was Lim Yoona! I was even more confused than you, Yoona-ssi! Oh no, Lim Yoona-ssi!"
Yoona frowned deeply, clearly dissatisfied with the answer that was essentially meaningless.
Reason told her she had to deal with Jiang Che immediately, or find out the truth. But how? Should she just take her to the police station?
Lin Yoona turned around and looked at Jiang Che's face, which was exactly the same as hers. Forget it, if this face ended up in the police station, the entire entertainment industry would be in an uproar the next day, and she'd probably dominate all the trending topics.
Send it to the research institute? Lin Yoona looked at the body that was exactly the same as hers. What if her photos were everywhere the next day, saying it wasn't her?
Same face, same body, how can anyone believe that? Maybe we should just kill them.
Jiang Che was so frightened by that glance that he almost turned into a screaming chicken.
Finally, she made the decision: "...fasten your seatbelt."
"Huh?" Jiang Che was taken aback.
"I said, fasten your seatbelts," Yoona's voice suddenly rose an octave.
"Now! Immediately!"
"Oh! Yes! This is it!" Jiang Che jumped in fright. Yun'er stopped looking at him, walked to the driver's seat, started the car, and drove away.
The car eventually drove into a relatively upscale, heavily guarded residential area.
The engine shut off.
Yoona didn't get out of the car immediately. After a few seconds of silence, she turned around and said, "Get out of the car." She paused, then added...
"Go to my apartment. You're not going anywhere until I figure out what the hell you are."
Jiang Che's heart sank.
An apartment... a confined space... the real and fake Yoona... this plot seems like the prelude to a thriller!
The apartment door clicked shut. Looking at Yoona's apartment, Jiang Che's first thought was, "No wonder this is the era of the rich."
But then I immediately wanted to slap myself. Was this the time to be looking at houses?
In an instant, Jiang Che's mind was filled with all sorts of movies about confinement and imprisonment.
What if Yoona forces me then? Should I agree or not?
Just as she was lost in thought, Yoona closed the door behind her and pointed to the single sofa in the center of the living room, saying, "Sit."
Jiang Che obediently sat down.
Yoona didn't sit down. She went to the kitchen, opened the refrigerator door, and grabbed a bottle of mineral water and a small, unopened bag of bread.
With a "smack," he slammed the two items onto the low table in front of Jiang Che.
If the action hadn't been so rough, Jiang Che would have almost thought that Lin Yoona was treating him to food because she was worried he was hungry, but in the end he didn't dare to do it.
"Speak." Yoona crossed her arms. "Name? Origin? Purpose? How did you change it? Don't leave out a single word!"
The interrogation began. Jiang Che looked at the bottle of water, and for some reason, he thought of its predecessor that had been flattened. His Adam's apple bobbed involuntarily—even though he didn't have one.
He took a deep breath, adjusted his posture, but felt uncomfortable no matter how he sat, so he simply leaned back in a do-nothing manner.
"Should I just say that I am another Yoona from a parallel universe? But the deadpan look on stage doesn't seem like Yoona at all! Or should I say that our life trajectories are different?"
But damn it, I panicked too much earlier. What kind of good person would turn and run away upon seeing another version of themselves? This is obviously a sign of a guilty conscience.
"Never mind... Jiang Che," he resignedly gave his name.
"The ginger in fresh ginger, the clear in clear."
"From...probably a parallel world?" He glanced at Yoona. She really was a future Blue Dragon Film Award winner; her eyes were full of drama. He could even clearly sense the "Are you fucking kidding me?" look in her eyes.
"Really!" Jiang Che quickly added, his tone even carrying the same sincerity he had shown when he had lied to his father about the money.
"Before I fell asleep, I was still in my own world, in the presidential suite of a five-star hotel, with the keys to my newly acquired sports car still lying on the bedside table."
The moment I opened my eyes, I was in that venue, wearing this dress and high heels, and then Taeyeon unnie… uh, Taeyeon mistook me for you and dragged me onto the stage.”
He carefully avoided using any terms of address that might upset Yoona.
"As for how it happened? I don't know! I don't know if I was possessed by a ghost, if my consciousness was transferred, or if I was a high-tech clone that escaped from the research institute."
Jiang Che looked bewildered and innocent, thinking to himself, 'If I knew how it happened, would I have let you capture me here?'
It was someone else who ran off backstage long ago; now, I feel like I've embarrassed the time-travel fandom!
Yoona didn't speak. Every word this guy, with her face on his back and sprawled on her sofa, said challenged the scientific worldview she had built up over twenty years.
She suddenly grabbed the innocent bag of bread from the table, her fingers clenching tightly.
"Rip—" The plastic bag groaned, and the bread slices inside were visibly squeezed and deformed.
"...Ouch..." Jiang Che felt a pang of pain just looking at the bread. He silently shifted his gaze from the bread bag to the ceiling. Hmm, the chandelier is quite stylish.
"Parallel worlds?" Yoona's voice sounded like it was being squeezed out from between her teeth.
"Where's the evidence? Why should I believe this nonsense?"
