Life is tough, so Honglong resorts to performing?
Chapter 8 Negotiation
Chapter 8 Negotiation
Compared to the crowds in other areas, the staff recruitment/animal cooperation/rescue counseling area was rather quiet.
There are also signs outside indicating "Work Area" and "No Entry for Tourists".
Fortunately, based on Loren's observation from the outside window, the person sitting in that office was a human wearing gold-rimmed glasses.
He had a meticulously styled haircut and a shrewd and capable appearance.
This relieved Loren.
If all the new recruits are druids, then he really shouldn't go in.
What's the difference between talking about monetary gains with a druid and talking about philanthropy and generosity with a dragon?
After thinking for a long time, Loren gently knocked on the other person's door.
"Please come in."
A slightly tired male voice came from inside. Loren pushed open the door and entered, only to meet the man's surprised gaze.
"Hello, this is a working area, tourists are not allowed..."
Upon seeing the red-haired, baby-faced boy enter, Morris habitually explained that he had assumed some tourist had wandered into the place by mistake.
"I heard they're recruiting endangered animals, so I've come to apply."
Loren briefly explained his purpose, and the other party became even more puzzled upon hearing Loren speak.
"Are you a hunter? Or a druid, or some other related profession? Where are your animal companions? Or, could I get some basic information about them?"
In the world of Elron, there are no such heaven-defying treasures as spirit beast pouches that can collect and store life, though legendary mages' demiplanes do have them.
But Morris couldn't fathom why a legendary mage with a demiplane would come here.
Therefore, the person in front of you is most likely a hunter, or someone in another profession, and probably needs to sell a batch of live animals for some reason.
However, they didn't bring the Archdruid because they were worried about him causing trouble in the park.
He had dealt with this kind of thing many times before. Although some of it was unexpected, it was at least within his understanding.
However, things took an unexpected turn for Maurice.
The baby-faced, red-haired youth silently pointed his finger at himself.
"That's me, a genuine federal Class II protected rare animal."
"You must be joking."
Morris couldn't help but smile wryly. Even for those first and second-tier exotic beasts with special bloodlines, it would take at least the fourth rank to reach perfection and be jokingly referred to as the quasi-legendary realm to speak. And to transform into human form, it would take the fifth rank of legend.
Although with the advancement and development of magic crystal technology, legendary powerhouses are no longer regarded as supreme experts who can defeat an entire city or even a country single-handedly, there are only about ten large cities in the Federation that possess more than ten legendary powerhouses.
This, of course, does not include their own city of Verdant Leaf and the neighboring city of Neighborhood.
In other words, a wild legendary powerhouse, even without magic crystal weapons, would have a basic strength attribute that ranks among the top ten in Green Leaf City. With this strength attribute, any major power would gladly accept their allegiance.
Why would someone come to such a small place as a rare animal zoo to apply for a job?
"This is not a joke."
Loren spoke earnestly, fine red dragon scales appearing on his face, and an aura of majesty unique to the dragon race emanating from him.
"I am a pure-blooded red dragon, Loren Gellis Izak, twenty years old this year, and indeed a federal Class II protected animal."
Loren spoke calmly, and upon hearing this, Maurice suddenly understood. He adjusted his glasses, but then hesitated.
"No, you're a dragon, a pure-blooded red dragon, so you're a naturally intelligent species, right?"
Morris's doubts were quite accurate. Because Loren was somewhat apprehensive about the recruitment process, he had done some research beforehand. What he discovered was surprising:
There has always been a call within the Druid community to separate white dragons, in order to distinguish them from the naturally intelligent dragon race and the animal dragon race.
Clearly, this recruiter has a long history of associating with druids and holds this view.
According to this view, recruiting the Red Dragon is illegal and unethical.
Loren knew that this was not the time to dwell on such things.
Because it makes no sense.
He wasn't attending an academic conference of monks; he didn't need to deliberately refute them. He just needed to circumvent it.
Then, show the other party what you can get in return for recruiting them.
He must demonstrate his value and the benefits he can bring.
It's enough to make the other party abandon some viewpoints, some prejudices, and some interests.
As a recruiter, and as a human being, he only needs to be responsible for the interests of others, while he himself only needs to bring sufficient benefits to the other party.
Loren took a deep breath and slowly opened his mouth.
“My lord, you are right, dragons are intelligent species. But in the Federation’s current List of Endangered Species, our dragon race is still listed as a Level II species, in black and white.”
Loren smiled, and after emphasizing federal law, he continued,
"Moreover, I think that the debate between intelligent species and beast species is something that only important people can decide."
"As ordinary people who can only influence a small part of the region, what we should really care about is the life we are experiencing."
"For example, as a manager, you need to make the Green Leaf Rare Animal Zoo run better and have more revenue to add some small joys and benefits to the lives of the animals and yourself, right?"
Loren used the sophistry he had learned in his previous life, unconsciously employing some of the words from that life to steer the conversation away from the topic.
Seeing that the other person was captivated by his words and was nodding repeatedly, Loren pressed his advantage.
"Think about it, since the establishment of the Federation, the first pure-blooded red dragon to voluntarily move into the zoo is not one of those low-intelligence, awakened dragon beasts, nor one of those mixed-blood or hybrid dragons, but a pure red dragon."
"In this era of magic crystal terminals, where every individual can spread information, how much of a sensation will this message cause, and how many tourists will it attract?"
Loren's words made Morris's eyes light up, but clearly, they weren't enough to move him.
Morris clearly still had reservations.
Clearly, this man isn't that greedy for money, but beyond money, there's always something for him: dreams, fame, and fortune.
There's no corner you can't dig down, only a hoe you can't wield properly. As the Red Dragon, Loren had to admit that he was quite cunning and shameless.
So, to show his sincerity, Loren spoke earnestly.
“I know you may not be short of money. After all, you can maintain such a large venue and so many magic arrays just to ensure the physical and mental health of the animals living inside. For you, protecting animals is also very important.”
Loren's words seemed to strike a chord with Maurice, but then Loren abruptly changed the subject.
"But how much can you protect by relying on just one isolated case like the Green Leaf Rare Animals Zoo?"
"Not all zoos in the Federation can maintain this kind of ecosystem, after all, they don't have that much money, right?"
Loren's realistic words silenced Morris. He stared at Loren for a long time, seemingly calculating before finally speaking.
"You mean, you are that road?"
"Not necessarily, but I could be."
