Chapter 556, Section 554: Spots?
"But, sir,"
Hermione seemed to have lost control of herself and said,
"We shouldn't be learning from werewolves yet; we should be learning from Hinkpunk now—"
Miss Granger,
Snape spoke in a chillingly calm voice.
“I seem to remember that I was the one teaching this class, not you. Now I want all of you to turn to page 394.”
He glanced at the whole class again.
"Everyone! Quickly!"
The students rolled their eyes indignantly, muttering under their breath as they opened their textbooks.
"Can any of you tell me how to distinguish between a werewolf and a real werewolf?"
Snape asked.
Everyone sat motionless and silent.
Who can answer this?
Snape stared intently at the young wizards sitting in the front row, especially the one with black hair.
"Does that mean Professor Lupin didn't tell you the fundamental difference between the two—"
Sheen, who was being watched, felt his arm being poked again.
"Hey, Xi, Xi En, is he watching me?"
Sheen stammered when he heard Ron's voice.
So Sheen nodded.
Ron's vision went black immediately.
—Professor Snape walked over and looked down at the two of them.
Ron was about to stop breathing.
At that moment, Sheen raised his hand.
The young wizards gasped in shock.
Few dared to raise their hands at this moment and provoke Professor Snape.
Hermione had done this before and was soon ridiculed by Professor Snape, both openly and subtly.
"explain."
Surprisingly, they saw that Professor Snape's expression had softened considerably.
"In animal form, werewolves look almost identical to real wolves, although their snouts may be slightly shorter, their pupils smaller, and their tails tufted rather than thick and bushy."
The real difference lies in behavior. Real wolves are not aggressive, and the wizarding authority now believes that folk tales depicting them as mindless predators actually refer to werewolves, not real wolves.
Wolves typically do not attack humans except in special circumstances. However, werewolves almost exclusively target humans and pose little threat to other creatures.
That's because werewolves typically reproduce by attacking non-werewolfs. For centuries, discrimination surrounding werewolves has been so severe that very few people from them marry and have children.
Sheen said.
"There are always people who know, right?"
Snape sneered.
"Are your stupid brains only good for staring? Write this down! Now!"
In the following classes, no one dared to make a sound.
They sat there copying notes about werewolves from their books, while Snape patrolled the desks, checking the homework Professor Lupin had assigned them.
"The explanation is very unclear... It's inaccurate; Kaba is more common in Mongolia... Professor Lupin gave it eight points? I wouldn't even give it three..."
He slammed the parchment onto Ron's desk with a "thud," and Ron didn't dare to breathe.
In the end, they still lost three points.
He figured it was his own breathing.
Of course, Harry pocketed more, and the two exchanged a glance, as if they had gone through thick and thin together.
In the suffocating atmosphere, the school bell finally rang, but Snape didn't let them leave.
"Each person should write a paper and submit it to me, on how to identify and kill werewolves."
I'm asking you to fill two rolls of parchment with your work on this topic, due Monday morning. This class needs someone to keep a close eye on it.
As he strode out of the classroom, he gave a special glare to the first row.
Ron turned pale with fright, guessing that the loud noise was caused by the sigh of relief he had just let out.
"Why is Snape telling us to learn to be werewolves? Are we really going to meet them?"
When he came to his senses, he muttered to Sheen again.
Sheen was at a loss for words.
“Ron,” he whispered a reminder.
Ron seemed to wake up from a dream and followed behind him.
The two walked faster and faster until they arrived at a secluded room in the Hope Hut.
It's filled with antiques from the last century, as well as all sorts of paintings.
Ron confirmed that this was Sheen's room because it was filled with mountains of books.
"Can you finish reading this...?"
Ron looked up at the mountain of books, his mouth agape.
"Yes, if all goes well."
Sheen said, and took out the Marauder's Map.
Ron quickly came over.
Following Sheen's gaze, he could see a person named "Peter Pettigrew" moving around in his dormitory.
"Who is this?"
Ron looked thoughtful, then his expression quickly became exaggerated.
"A wizard awarded the Order of Merlin, First Class! The wizard Sirius Black killed! Harry's parents' best friend!"
Sheen nodded, then quickly shook his head.
"What are you trying to say, Sheen?"
Ron swallowed hard.
He could hardly believe that a dead person had appeared in his dormitory.
Was he really dead? Was he a ghost?
...But this map doesn't seem to have any ghosts marked...
Is he still alive?
“Little Pettigrew was Harry’s parents’ secret keeper.”
Sheen said.
“Oh, I know, Harry’s parents chose to believe Sirius Black was… wait… you mean…”
Ron muttered to himself, startling himself.
"It was a switcheroo. When Harry's parents were trying to get Sirius Black to be the Secret Keeper, he recommended Peter, thinking that would be foolproof..."
Sheen recounted the story quietly, as if telling a tale.
The candlelight flickered with his narration, and Ron's head spun and swayed.
"But what he didn't know was that Peter had already betrayed them."
A hoarse voice came from inside the house.
Ron slowly turned his head and saw a slightly haggard-looking man looking at him.
Although his face was exactly the same as that of Sirius Black, the fugitive in the newspaper, fortunately, he didn't look as crazy.
"What...you're kidding me..."
Ron's body stiffened.
He stared at Sheen with his mouth agape, then at Sirius, whose face was full of "gentleness."
He might be gentle, Ron forced himself to think so, ignoring the fact that he had blown up an entire street of Muggles.
Oh, maybe he just wanted to see the fireworks?
"I didn't cause that explosion. After I cornered Peter, he yelled so loudly that the whole street could hear me betraying Lily and James."
Then, before I could even cast the spell, he blew up the street with the wand hidden on his back, killing everyone within twenty feet—and then scurried into the gutter with the other rats…
Sirius, speaking then, asked Ron,
"Ron, Mr. Green's friend, haven't you ever thought about it? About your mice?"
Don't you know that a mouse can never live for twelve years?
Don't you know what's missing from its body?
Mr. Green told me you heard those words.
"Ron, think about it, what's the largest piece of Peter's bone they found?"
