Chapter 508, Section 506: A Sweet Dream
"Let me see them one more time, please, I'm willing to give everything I have, anything at all..."
If you need to sacrifice anyone for a great plan, please remember me.
Sirius stared straight at Sheen, who couldn't understand why he was so willing to go through fire and water for a wizard.
Unless... he is already dead.
Now they are no different from ghosts.
However, coincidentally, Sheen knew something that could ignite a soul.
“You also need to deal with Peter.”
Sheen said.
“Oh, of course, but I think there’s also Lupin. He works at your bookstore, right?”
Sirius said.
"Okay, what about Harry?"
Sheen said slowly.
“Harry…he has his aunt…”
Sirius hesitated.
Why not ask him? If you don't ask him, he has no right to make a choice.
"Sir, this is not a good decision."
Sheen said softly.
"I……"
Sirius completely lost the will to argue.
"You're his godfather, right?"
Sheen added his final chip.
"Of course, of course..."
Sirius's voice was hoarse.
“Oh, then consider it Harry’s fault. If you are exonerated, he might be happy to live with you.”
Sheen smiled.
Sirius was still staring blankly at the wall. In the faraway Leaky Cauldron, in the cubicle of his room, there was a face he knew all too well.
“I’ve seen him. His face looks like his father’s, and he looks just like his grandfather’s.”
And his eyes were like her mother's.
Sirius murmured, then suddenly turned to the little wizard.
“I owe him, sir, but I understand even more that if we cannot stop the mysterious man from making a comeback… then all of this is just wishful thinking.”
What are the benefits of fighting the world's most evil wizard?
Sirius Black had a terrifyingly determined look on his face.
"It's all to save some innocent lives."
Sheen looked at the man, the haggard man, the man who had been imprisoned for decades, yet he still upheld courage and kindness, like an inextinguishable flame.
“I think you are just like me, a wizard like you that even the mysterious man cannot ignore, a wizard who could have avoided this difficult battle…”
Therefore, I can only conclude that you are fighting for your conscience and for the weak.
Sirius said, enunciating each word clearly.
"Please, let me see them again, sir, esteemed sir."
If death were to come knocking on my door tomorrow, I can't help but wonder if I would still have the face to see them again. What if they don't want to see me? What if they despise me?
Sirius finished speaking almost pleadingly.
Sheen finally sighed:
"Sir, everyone makes mistakes."
But I must remind you that for some wizards, the world behind the veil is not necessarily a beautiful place.
"Even if it's a mountain of knives or a sea of fire, it doesn't matter."
Sirius's eyes brightened.
"Then, sweet dreams."
"Sheen said sincerely. Immediately, a Pukki popped out from the book-like pendant on Sheen's chest."
It glanced at Sirius with disdain, then respectfully led the little wizard away.
Sirius was not annoyed; instead, he was overwhelmed by a violent ecstasy.
He walked toward the tapestry and began clearing the glass-door cabinet.
This task requires a great deal of concentration, because many of the items in the cabinet seem reluctant to leave the dusty shelves.
He needs to exhaust himself to the point where he can't move, so that he can fall asleep more easily.
—To welcome a beautiful dream, or to head to hell.
While it was being cleaned, Sirius got a hard bite from a silver snuffbox. Within seconds, the bitten hand was covered with an unsightly hard shell, looking like it was wearing a rough brown glove.
"Oh, it's nothing, it's nothing."
He chuckled as he spoke, examining the hand with great interest. Then, he lightly touched it with his wand, and the skin returned to normal.
"It must contain sarcoma powder."
He seemed very happy, and then threw the snuffbox into the bag that was specifically for trash in the cabinet.
There are still many things in the cabinet.
For example, Vixen was killed by Sirius Black with a book called "Born Noble: The Wizarding Family Tree";
A heavy souvenir box that no one could open—inside was a large collection of antique-style seals.
Inside a dusty box was a Merlin First Class Medal, awarded to Sirius's grandfather for his "contributions to the Ministry of Magic".
"That means he gave them a huge amount of gold."
Sirius hummed a tune and threw the medal into the trash bag.
There was also a music box. When wound up, it would emit a faint, ominous melody. Sirius then found himself inexplicably weak and drowsy.
Fortunately, he was still somewhat clear-headed. He quickly grabbed a megaphone and then collapsed to the ground.
The fog began to rise and swirl.
Sirius woke up groggily in a white, misty place.
The first thing he did upon waking was to punch himself hard, and then, like a fool, exclaimed in surprise:
"It really hurts!"
He excitedly searched around and, sure enough, spotted a cat with a body as black and deep as ink.
Its posture is exactly the same as that of the master Newt Scamander.
“Dear Mr. Black Cat, or, my respected and dear God.”
Sirius bowed deeply.
"Good evening, Mr. Blake."
"The black cat said."
And watch as some wisps of mist drift naturally toward Sirius.
It leaped over and lay down on the mist, preventing them from immediately reaching Sirius.
Then, with a flick of its tail, it chased away several more wisps of mist.
"I...I...what should I do? I should..."
Sirius looked around at the area, at the bright, thin mist.
This fog was unlike any he had ever seen before.
It's not that the surrounding scenery is shrouded in misty steam, but rather that the misty steam has not yet formed the surrounding scenery.
The ground where he stood seemed white, neither hot nor cold, just an existence, a flat, empty thing.
"Please give me some memories, sir."
The black cat's fluffy ears twitched.
"What memories? Oh, I should..."
Sirius was at a loss until he saw the black cat conjure a meditation bowl from the mist.
"Is this even possible...?"
He gaped, realizing that he was no different from a novice wizard learning magic here.
But he quickly laughed and slowly approached the black cat that was staring at the silver threads.
Tonight, a night he never imagined, dreams are a secret passage back to the past.
