Chapter 443, Section 441: An Unexpected and Urgent Arrival
Easter is a time for exchanging gifts, and little wizards were passing around Sheen, handing him Easter eggs.
The same goes for owls.
They flapped their wings, carried letters in their beaks, and clutched exquisite gift boxes in their claws.
Sheen put all the gifts into the Wizard's Book and subconsciously glanced at the Daily Prophet sent by Bai Yi.
Among the various animated magical photos, one name caught Sheen's full attention.
Former Director of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Bob Ogden, has passed away...
Bob Ogden.
The name sounded somewhat familiar to Sheen. He whispered a few words to Bai Yi, and when the silver owl reappeared, it was carrying a meditation bowl in its talons.
Sheen tapped his wand, and the silver threads of memory floated out.
But before he could figure out who Bob Ogden was, Justin interrupted his train of thought.
"Sheehan, I always feel that Headmaster Dumbledore is watching you."
Justin said in a very soft voice.
Upon hearing this, Sheen looked up and saw that Headmaster Dumbledore was winking at him.
Then, the old wizard with a long, white beard opened an exquisitely packaged Easter egg, inside which was a pair of wool socks and a pair of two-way mirrors.
They don't look like they were made in a workshop at all; the back of the mirror not only has a gorgeous phoenix relief, but also SG engravings.
Dumbledore's beard twitched, he winked at Sheehan, and left the Great Hall.
Sheen thoughtfully picked out the less-than-exquisitely wrapped gift from a pile of presents.
“Very few wizards get to exchange gifts with Headmaster Dumbledore… You know, while Headmaster Dumbledore is happy to receive gifts, he rarely reciprocates. And those wizards don’t expect it anyway…”
Hermione suddenly appeared out of nowhere and said with a serious expression.
Sheehan turned his head away, and Hermione quickly averted her curious gaze.
While Hermione was trying her best not to pry into her friend's privacy, Sheehan had already left the Great Hall.
Dumbledore's Easter egg contained only a note:
"Come to the principal's office, child. It seems we'll have to continue with our bold guesses."
A bold guess...
While pondering this mystery, Sheen knocked on the principal's office door.
"Please come in."
It was Dumbledore's voice.
"Good evening, Headmaster Dumbledore."
Sheen walked into the principal's office.
"Ah, good evening, Sheen. Please sit down,"
Dumbledore said with a smile,
"Before your happy Easter holidays begin, I want to share something with you, a gift."
"Bob Ogden."
Sheen read it out subconsciously.
"You know? It seems we're evenly matched in investigating Tom Riddell..."
But can you tell me how the stars talk?
Dumbledore crossed his ten fingers and squinted.
"This is a fairy tale, Headmaster Dumbledore. I think even in the wizarding world, the stars don't speak."
"Who knows?" Sheen said.
Dumbledore teased him kindly.
The circular principal's office looks the same as always:
On the table with its long, slender legs were many exquisite silverwares, which spun around and emitted wisps of smoke.
The portraits of the old headmasters, both men and women, were all dozing off in their respective frames. Dumbledore's magnificent phoenix, Fawkes, perched on a branch behind the door, watching Sheehan with great interest.
It's hard to imagine that even though Sheen would secretly contact Fox almost every week, Mr. Phoenix's affinity level remained stuck at "Apprentice".
Perhaps, as Headmaster Dumbledore said, the phoenix is an extremely loyal magical creature.
"Come, child, I should share what I know with you. Of course, I remind you, child, my ears also want to hear some wonderful ideas."
It's a bit old, but it still has power...
Although we've always done it this way, I'll repeat it again.
From this moment forward, we will depart from the solid foundation of facts and together traverse the dark and hazy swamp of memory, venturing into a complex web of bold speculation.
On this point, Sheehan, I might make the same pathetic mistake as Humphrey Belcher, who actually believed that crucibles could be made from cheese.
"Dumbledore said slowly."
"Guessing doesn't mean it's wrong; we will find the right path."
Sheen said.
"I naturally thought so too, but as I have already shown you, we also make mistakes just like ordinary people."
In fact, because we—please forgive me—are far more intelligent than most people, my mistakes are correspondingly more serious.
After Dumbledore finished speaking, he took out a crystal bottle.
Sheehan knew that these were Bob Ogden's memories.
At the same time, the world seemed to be silenced. Sheen couldn't help but look at Dumbledore's left hand, and only when he found that the hand was not as withered as he had imagined did he feel relieved.
Bob Ogden, a wizard who works in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic.
His memories played a crucial role in understanding Voldemort's background, especially the corruption and brutality of his maternal family, the Gaunt family, and the early history of Marvologaunt's ring, one of the Horcruxes.
Sheehan didn't know how long he had been ill and when he had died, nor did he know when Dumbledore had obtained his memories.
But he was quite certain that Headmaster Dumbledore must have acquired the Gaunt ring in his fourth or fifth year of school.
Now, whether it's the Chamber of Secrets diary, Ravenclaw's tiara, or Slytherin's locket that led Dumbledore to uncover more traces of Horcruxes, Headmaster Dumbledore has taken notice of Bob Ogden's memories ahead of time.
This means that Sheen must accept the changes and bring the plan forward.
"Let's take a walk along Bob Ogden's Memory Trail. We have a date with Bob Ogden today."
Dumbledore pulled the cork from the crystal bottle and poured the silvery substance inside into the Pensieve. It swirled slowly in the Pensieve, emitting a faint glow that was neither liquid nor gas.
The two exchanged a glance, and Dumbledore's deep eyes detected something different.
He smiled, then watched as Sheen plunged headfirst into the silvery substance.
Sheen's feet seemed to leave the ground, passing through the ever-swirling darkness, falling, falling.
Suddenly, the intense sunlight made Sheen squint.
Before his eyes could adjust, Dumbledore landed beside him.
They stood on a country road, flanked by tall, tangled hedges, with the summer sky overhead as clear and blue as forget-me-nots.
About ten steps in front of them stood a short, stout man.
He wore glasses with exceptionally thick lenses, making his eyes appear as two tiny dots, like a mole's eyes.
