Winter Lord: Starting with Daily Intelligence
Chapter 34 The White-Haired Little Secretary
Chapter 34 The White-Haired Little Secretary
Sif was a little nervous; today was her first day working as the Red Tide Lord's secretary.
She didn't have much affection for Louis, and was even somewhat wary of him.
In her eyes, this lord was just an imperial nobleman in the guise of gentleness, essentially no different from the ugly nobles of those iron-blooded empires.
She arrived at the lord's room on time, and what came into view was a figure meditating cross-legged.
Louis was practicing his breathing technique to cultivate his battle aura.
This was the second time she had seen the young lord, but this time she looked at him more closely than when they first met in the hospital room.
With distinct features, a slender figure, and a calm demeanor between his brows.
Unlike those richly dressed, bulky nobles, he was more like a scholar, even exuding a calm and focused demeanor when cultivating.
Such a demeanor made it difficult for Sif to equate him with the cunning imperial nobleman she had in mind.
But she quickly collected her thoughts. This guy was probably just pretending. If he were really that diligent, his strength shouldn't be so low.
When Louis finished his cultivation, he opened his eyes and saw her immediately.
“You’re here early.” Louis gave a relaxed smile.
Sif nodded without saying anything.
Today she was wearing an ordinary leather coat from a craftsman's workshop, which made her look capable and efficient.
Louis glanced at her casually, thinking that if supplies in the North weren't so scarce, it wouldn't be bad to give her a maid outfit.
But then I thought, oh well, it's still pretty cold.
Besides, he didn't have the habit of being waited on, and there were no young maids in the entire Red Tide Territory who were specifically there to serve him. There was only an aunt who was responsible for cleaning the room and doing laundry.
“I’m not blaming you, it’s just that I have sword practice later, and I won’t be able to start work for another hour,” Louis explained.
Sif simply nodded, without saying anything else.
Louis then left the room and began his daily sword training with Lambert.
During training, Lambert wielded his sword steadily, launching fierce attacks with each strike precise and powerful.
Louis, on the other hand, focuses more on technique, relying on agile footwork to dodge and look for opportunities to counterattack.
"Take a more steady step," Lambert warned in a deep voice, then slashed down with his sword.
Louis quickly sidestepped, narrowly avoiding the attack, but Lambert changed his move swiftly, sweeping his sword horizontally.
Louis was forced to raise his sword to parry, and the huge impact caused him to stagger back several steps, his arm going slightly numb.
Sif watched from the sidelines, secretly thinking to herself: Lambert is much stronger than herself.
Louis's swordsmanship was decent, but only "decent".
She thought to herself, "He's just all show and no substance."
But she also discovered that no matter how Lambert attacked, Louise never gave up and always fought back seriously.
"Again?" Lambert asked.
“Of course.” Louis wiped the sweat from his brow and readjusted his sword stance.
Sif frowned slightly. This guy didn't seem to be just going through the motions; he was genuinely trying to improve.
Swordsmanship training is a daily routine for Louis. Since arriving in Red Tide Territory, he has asked Lambert to teach him swordsmanship for an hour every day.
And so, an hour passed in a series of exchanges and adjustments during the sword training.
Louis sheathed his sword, let out a long breath, wiped the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand, and revealed a hearty smile.
Sif glanced sideways; this guy was indeed quite handsome.
“Let’s go, let’s begin the day’s lordly duties.” Louis looked at her, his tone relaxed. “Don’t be so nervous, the secretary’s job is actually quite simple.”
He casually outlined some key points, and concluded by saying, "Your main task today is to accompany me on this trip and record my work for the day."
Sif nodded and replied calmly, "Understood."
The first thing Louis did as lord was to inspect the soldiers' training at the training grounds.
One hundred and twenty soldiers formed a square formation and ran around the field in a grand procession.
Their steps were perfectly synchronized, and although they were panting, no one complained of being tired.
"Five laps to go! Speed up!"
"Hurry! Hurry! Aren't you all full?"
"Keep going! Keep running! You're capable of much more than this!"
The knight instructor ran alongside them, constantly shouting slogans.
This training method is completely different from the training methods used in other noble territories of the Ironblood Empire.
Other nobles at most trained in physical strength and individual melee weapon skills.
This relies on traditional master-apprentice teaching, but the training is often fragmented, and the soldiers' basic skills are often not solid.
This resulted in ordinary soldiers becoming cannon fodder for Blood Knights on the battlefield.
But Louis understood that this was a low-magic world, and even the strongest legendary knight could not kill an enemy with a single sword strike that broke through more than 2,600 armor.
The most common scenario is that a novice knight facing a well-trained soldier can only fight one against ten, which is equivalent to two Ip Mans.
However, training them is a hundred times more difficult than training an ordinary male soldier.
Therefore, based on his knowledge from his previous life, Louis designed a more systematic training system.
The training is purely standardized, with a greater emphasis on soldiers' teamwork and rapid response capabilities, and a particular focus on battlefield adaptability.
Although these soldiers lacked fighting spirit, he believed that with this kind of training, they could become a fighting force.
"stand at attention!"
The soldiers stopped abruptly and turned to face forward.
Louis walked slowly, his every move exuding an aura of authority that made all the soldiers involuntarily stand even straighter.
"Good morning, Lord!" the soldiers shouted in unison, their voices deafening.
Louis nodded slightly, his tone indifferent: "Thank you for your hard work."
“We’re not tired!” they replied firmly.
These soldiers undergo a series of daily exercises, including physical training, formation drills, and simulated combat.
Although the training volume has increased, no one has complained.
Because they were well-fed and warmly clothed, and Lord Louis had given them unprecedented respect.
Everyone remembers the Lord's kindness.
Louis glanced around, his gaze settling on several soldiers whose movements were not up to standard: "On the battlefield, such sluggishness could cost you and your comrades your lives."
The soldiers immediately broke out in a cold sweat and quickly bowed their heads in agreement.
"Run five more laps."
"Yes!"
Without hesitation, the soldiers turned and continued running, their steps becoming even more powerful.
Sif stood aside, watching the soldiers run in perfect unison, a complex feeling rising within her.
She didn't fully understand the significance of this training.
But it was clear that the soldiers' respect for Louis was genuine.
Although Louis did not shout orders or make any exaggerated movements, every word he said was enough to make the soldiers obey without hesitation.
This young lord seems to be truly different from ordinary nobles.
