Chapter 228 Back in the day, I swiftly struck down my sword on Iwo Jima

Chapter 228 Back in the day, I swiftly and decisively struck down my opponent on Iwo Jima...

"...Hello, I strongly request to go to the battlefield!"

"Based on my speculation, the Cold-Blooded Lady favors warriors who are willing to fight bravely. So, as long as I fight bravely enough, even if I don't have any religious beliefs about the Cold-Blooded Lady, she should be willing to bless me, right?"

"At that time, perhaps the sacred remains within my body will be activated?"

Faced with the Holy Son's eagerly anticipated inquiry, the archbishop of the Church of Winter almost instinctively wanted to reject his proposal.

I am also a living saint. I became a living saint because of my devout faith. In addition, the previous living saint died, and then the sacred remains fell into my body.

Having lived for so long, he had never heard of any living saint who could become a saint simply by killing people!
But then he thought about it again and realized that what he said might not be unreasonable, because the situation of the living saint in front of him was completely different from the situations he had encountered before.

There was nothing he could do. In all his years, this was the first time he had encountered a situation where, after obtaining the Holy Relic, he still couldn't establish a connection with the Cold-Blooded Lady!
Theoretically speaking, even if his previous faith in the cold-blooded lady was not devout enough, he could not directly obtain power through the holy remains.

But with the Holy Relic as a link, he should be able to communicate with the Cold-Blooded Lady, and naturally become her follower, right?

But despite all their efforts—having him chant scriptures and pray, and trying every possible way to enlighten and preach to him—this guy remained stubborn and unyielding.

I have no idea what kind of materialism he's talking about. He clearly acknowledges the existence of the Cold-Blooded Lady, so why can't he devoutly believe in her?
Unfortunately, for players, his preconceived notions are too deeply ingrained.

It's fine to acknowledge the existence of the Cold-Blooded Lady, since gods and such do exist in this game. However, it's impossible for him to have a blind and fanatical worship of gods.

In this player's view, even if there really is a god in the world, He is just some kind of more powerful being, and is by no means the same as the truth of the world.

In addition, he hadn't noticed it at first, but after listening to these people preach, the more he listened, the more he felt that the so-called four gods of the Cambrian Empire were so similar to the four peddlers of the subspace in his memory.
Therefore, when he gradually suspected that the four gods were actually four peddlers, he became even less interested in these guys who were busy burning incense and chanting scriptures all day long.

This thing is just for fooling those who don't know anything. If the cold-blooded lady is really Khorne in disguise, then instead of staying here all day burning incense and chanting sutras, I might as well go to the battlefield and kill a few more people!

Especially when he saw that some of his companions had also received the blessing of the cold-blooded lady by killing people, he instantly strengthened his resolve!
I'm not doing this damn religious quest anymore, I'm going to the battlefield to kill people!
If he can become a living saint, that's great. If he can't, it doesn't matter. At worst, let the later generations slowly study how to become a living saint. He's not the kind of player who's good at strategy guides!
There was no other way; things had already come to this point, and the archbishop finally agreed to send him to the battlefield for some experience.

Anyway, after all his efforts, he didn't achieve anything significant in the church. Perhaps he could really make something of himself on the battlefield?
Of course, to prevent the seed of their own living saint from being lost, the archbishop not only sent him to the battlefield for training, but also brought him a whole trainload of guards.

On one hand, he wanted to protect his own living saint seed; on the other hand, he was also preparing to see if any of the Guardians of the Faith could be chosen to become living saints should this guy die on the battlefield.
In any case, the faith of the apologists we've trained is far more devout than this guy's. If one of them actually becomes a living saint, wouldn't that save us a lot of trouble?
Andrei had no idea that the Church, which had been relatively quiet in the Cambrian Empire, would send a friar's army to support his battlefield for this very reason.

He was now staring blankly at his players, wondering why they had all activated their knife-fighting outfits.

Players with the means either exchanged for a katana from their guild or acquired a full set of Trench Warrior armor.

Players who were too poor to afford weapons simply threw away their guns and picked up other melee weapons, such as spiked clubs or kukri knives.

Battlefield 1 features a wide variety of melee weapons, with a huge selection to choose from, though these weapons may not be the most effective.

However, after these guys changed their weapons one by one, Andrei felt that they didn't look like soldiers, but rather like gang thugs.

Thus, to the astonishment of Altera and other ordinary Cambrian soldiers, the complex battlefield that had previously been a classic urban warfare exchange of fire inexplicably transformed into a knife-fighting arena!

"Damn it, don't corrupt my soldiers!"

When Andrei saw a squad of players wildly slashing around with samurai swords while explaining the techniques of the Kesazhan (艟斩) to other Cambrian soldiers, he simply couldn't hold back anymore.

He could hardly imagine how incredibly abstract and unconventional the combat methods of his soldiers would become after they had learned from these guys.

However, while Andrei was complaining, the Cambrian soldiers were all busy listening attentively to the lesson, and some even pulled out a knife from somewhere, preparing to imitate their leader.

If it were anyone else arguing with them about this pointless nonsense, they would definitely ignore the mentally ill lunatic and might even go and kick him a couple of times before saying anything more.

But they had personally witnessed their leader wielding a strange Japanese sword, cutting down more than a dozen enemy soldiers from one end of the street to the other without even blinking!
That was such a cool move, they want to learn it!
"...See that? Everyone, learn from this! Back in Iwo Jima, we hacked our way from the beach all the way into the tunnels, wielding our blades with deadly precision! We felled countless Japanese soldiers like chopping watermelons, without even blinking an eye..."

One player was boasting enthusiastically, waving his katana wildly as he spoke, but just then, a Cambrian soldier couldn't help but ask a question.

"Boss, I have a question. You've been chopping people up for so long without blinking. Don't your eyes get dry?"

Uh……

The player fell silent. He glanced at the clueless guy and said fiercely:
"Shut up! Is that the point? I told you how many people I killed back then, and now you're asking me if my eyes are sore?"

With a sigh, the player felt a strange sense of déjà vu regarding the Easter eggs in the game.

Little did they know, the other Cambrian soldiers were also incredibly curious, wondering what their leader, this veteran, was really made of.
They had never heard of Iwo Jima, and it seemed to be a small island. Could it be that their veterans had fought in the Navy before?
They had never been to sea in their lives, and had no idea what it was like overseas, let alone what those so-called "little devils" were. They sounded like goblins from legends.
Just then, an Altera soldier suddenly opened fire in their direction, and under the continuous barrage of submachine gun fire, the player and the two soldiers next to him were all wounded.

"Ah, my leg! I've been shot! Quick..."

A Cambrian soldier fell to the ground, clutching his thigh and crying out, but before he could finish speaking, the player grabbed his clothes and dragged him into a nearby hut, choking him so badly he could barely breathe.

"Stop yelling! Even if you had a small gash on your leg from a bullet, yelling a couple more times would have healed the wound by now!"

As the player shouted, he casually tossed a first-aid kit to the side, then quickly pulled out a needle and thread and began stitching up the NPC.

This is the game's weakness: players can quickly recover health by throwing a medkit or first-aid kit, but NPCs have to click through a treatment process.

Moreover, after being healed, the NPC only stopped the bleeding and temporarily stabilized the injury; he couldn't be fully revived like the player.

He didn't know what to complain about. Should he complain that the NPCs here were realistic, or should he complain that the game was designed to be too complicated?

The NPCs are indeed very realistic, but the players don't look realistic at all.

Since the players are already so unrealistic, why not strengthen the NPCs they lead as well?

After quickly stitching up his teammate's wound, he turned around and took out tweezers from the medical kit, and pulled out the bullet stuck in another soldier's body as fast as he could.

The speed with which he used tweezers to pull out the bullet in just three seconds astonished all the soldiers around him. They had never seen a military medic move so quickly before!
Besides, isn't our commander the leading sergeant? How come he also has the skills of a military doctor?
The soldier who was being roughly treated by the player was in so much pain he was almost having a seizure.

Without even anesthesia, they just pulled the bullet out of his bone. The pain was unimaginable; he almost bit his teeth to pieces.

Even so, he did not complain, but instead looked at his soldiers with gratitude.

He knew how important it was to receive timely treatment on such a battlefield.

To put it bluntly, if he were left in the rear, he would have to wait a long time to receive treatment at a field hospital, and he might even die from bleeding during that time.

Moreover, if a bullet remains lodged in the bone and continues to rub against it, it can cripple a person!
If the bullet is pulled out instantly like this, it will only hurt for a while. After it heals, he probably won't have any lasting effects.

After quickly healing the two wounded soldiers in the squad, the player's own health was automatically restored thanks to the group healing effect of the medkit.

He glanced at the window with the submachine gunner in front of him, then measured the back door of the small house, and after a moment's thought, said:
"Listen up, everyone! When I say throw smoke grenades, you all throw them!"

"After you throw the smoke grenades, get as close to the house as possible, then launch a frontal assault with grenades. I'll come from behind!"

"When the time comes, I'll just take a knife and chop them all down, and the problem will be solved!"

This operational plan is simple and brutal, but it is indeed feasible.

If they hadn't witnessed their commander's swordsmanship beforehand, they would never have agreed to such a risky tactic.

However, these Cambrian soldiers had all witnessed before how their superiors could cut down an entire street with a single knife.

So in their view, it was just a matter of cutting their way in through the back door, which was no challenge at all for a ruthless person like their own superior!

Another smoke grenade was fired. These soldiers are now very used to using smoke grenades to solve problems.

At first, they didn't think smoke grenades were useful; in fact, they thought they were quite pungent and uncomfortable to carry, so they figured it would be better to carry more hand grenades.

If it weren't for the fact that their general was known as the "Smoke Demon" and was said to particularly enjoy using smoke bombs in battle, they wouldn't have carried these things at all.

But after they started injecting the smoke bombs, they found the smoke bombs incredibly appealing!

A smoke grenade can block the enemy, and even if they have sharpshooters, it won't help. Then, send your own elite veterans to charge in, and the enemy will most likely be wiped out.

At the same time, they moved forward rapidly in a serpentine pattern, constantly firing their guns ahead.

Although most soldiers in the Cambrian Empire did not have sufficient ammunition, they never had any trouble with bullets while fighting alongside Andrei.

Their mission was to use the smoke to cover their superiors, and they didn't mind firing more bullets.

The smoke obscuring the view and the occasional bullets fired from the other side made the Altrianians hiding behind the small hole hesitant to make any rash moves.

Although reason told him that the probability of an enemy bullet getting through such a small hole was extremely low, who would dare to risk their life?

In just a short while, the player had already reached their back door with a katana.

The player was just about to push the door open when he suddenly thought of something:
Since the enemy is so careless as to leave the back door open, they must have some kind of protective measures in place for it!
Either someone is hiding in ambush behind here, or someone may have set up booby traps here!

So without hesitation, the player found the window, cleaved it open with a single stroke of his katana, and then threw a grenade inside.

With a massive explosion, the player quickly jumped through the window and started hacking at anyone in sight, no matter who was inside!
Bullets flew through the chaos, hitting the player and causing him to lose a lot of health, but a well-timed kasaya slash restored his health instantly.

Using a katana requires the fastest hand speed and the best positioning skills.

Despite the cramped indoor space, the player moved with extreme agility, darting around like a monkey, making it impossible for the Altrianian soldiers hiding inside to keep up.

He had no idea what was happening; he only felt a blur before his eyes and was suddenly struck by a knife.

Amidst the player's continuous hacking and slashing, the sounds of swords being drawn, gunshots, and the dying curses of soldiers mingled together, seemingly converging into a peculiar symphony.

The Cambrian soldiers, who were hiding outside and throwing grenades at the front of the house, exchanged a glance and then charged forward with their guns drawn.

Although reason told them that charging forward like this was extremely risky, they absolutely could not allow their superior to remain indoors and fight alone!

A Cambrian soldier rushed to the door, about to kick it down, but then suddenly remembered something, quickly dodged to the side of the door, and then smashed it hard with the butt of his rifle.

Sure enough, the enemy had also set up booby traps here!

A loud explosion rang out, and several Cambrian soldiers rushed in with bayonets at their heels, only to see a flash of light coming straight at them.

A human head flew high into the air and slammed into the face of the Cambrian soldier who had just rushed in, spraying blood all over him.

The next moment, he noticed that his superior, who seemed to have gone berserk, was charging towards them again with a knife, and quickly shouted:
"Sir, don't use the knife, it's me!"

"Damn, you scared me! When did you guys get in?"

Upon seeing that the newly appeared group of soldiers were actually his teammates, the player quickly sheathed his sword, narrowly escaping killing his own soldiers.

As everyone knows, when using a katana in a chaotic battle in complex terrain, there are no other skills; it's all about speed and cutting as many people as possible.

If a player can kill all enemies faster than they can be injured, they can become invincible!

So when he was attacking people, the player using the katana didn't pay much attention to which side the soldiers in front of him were on, and almost killed his own people!

Sheathing his sword and finding a place to sit down and catch his breath, he looked at the soldiers in his squad and harshly criticized them:
"Remember, soldiers must obey orders. No matter what my orders are, just obey them!"

"I told you to wait outside, so you wait outside. Only when you're sure I'm dead can you rush in!"

"Luckily I reacted quickly, otherwise I would have really killed you all, and then who would I have to complain to?"

The Cambrian soldiers being reprimanded were dejected. Although they wanted to argue, they had to admit that they had indeed acted rashly this time.

They hadn't paid much attention to their captain's fighting stance before, and thought his swordsmanship was incredibly smooth and fluid.

Looking at it now, the swordsmanship is indeed fluid and graceful, but the fighting stance is also undeniably frenzied.

They now seriously doubt where the Battle of Iwo Jima, which their captain was talking about, actually took place.
How many people would one have to kill to master this ruthless swordsmanship?
At that very moment, on the other side of the street, a knife fight broke out between the player and Alteran soldiers.

The two groups suddenly met, and in this close encounter, the brave one prevailed.

Because none of the Altrianian soldiers were equipped with submachine guns, and the fighting was taking place at extremely close range, when they saw the Cambrian soldiers charging at them with melee weapons, they didn't hesitate to charge forward with their bayonets.

There's no way around it; at this speed, they only have time to fire one shot.

What will happen to the people behind them after they kill the ones who rush up in front?
Let's just charge straight in with bayonets. The most important thing when fighting with bayonets is to have an unstoppable momentum!
"Ula——!"

A solo player who wasn't equipped with the Krieg skin launched a fearless bayonet charge at the enemy in front of him!

Three other players were charging alongside him!
The four men's desperate charge with bayonets immediately intimidated the Altrianian soldiers.

They had never seen players with such an extremely ferocious, savage thrust. They felt that these guys were simply crazy, fighting with their lives on the line!
puff!

The first few Altrian soldiers charging forward didn't have time to react; they were instantly stabbed through the chest with bayonets and knocked to the ground. But just as the player was pulling out the bayonets, the other Altrians rushed up and shoved their bayonets deep into the player's body.

The first wave of bayonet charges on both sides resulted in almost mutual destruction, but in the second wave of bayonet charges, these Oterenian soldiers were completely unable to withstand the onslaught.

Every player knows the Salted Fish Thrust and loves using this move that can deliver a fatal blow.

They didn't think much of using the Salted Fish Thrust skill, after all, it was just a very ordinary skill, and they even used it to travel within a small area.

But to the soldiers on the other side, these guys' salted fish thrusts were like a bunch of crazy lunatics who didn't care about their lives!
Watching these Cambrian soldiers, their faces contorted with fanaticism, charge forward with bayonets drawn, fearless of death, and uttering astonishing shouts, filled them with dread.

These guys were charging forward with such ferocity that it was impossible for a human to run at that speed.

This resulted in very few Altranian soldiers being able to break through the enemy's defenses during the clashes, even if they fought with fearlessness; at best, they could only manage a mutual destruction.

"Damn these lunatics!"

"They've gone mad! What could possibly drive them to such a state?"

Some soldiers were completely terrified by the sudden, aggressive thrust of the "salted fish" (a metaphor for a soldier), and while firing their guns, they retreated in a panic, feeling that some kind of belief in their hearts had been shaken.

Before coming here to fight, they were taught that Cambrian soldiers were apathetic and that the Cambrian Empire exploited them in various ways.

In their view, these Cambrian soldiers were just a bunch of puppets who obeyed orders and could never have much fighting spirit.

But when faced with this Cambrian army that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, they realized they were sorely mistaken.

Come to think of it, how could such a large empire as the Cambrian Empire not have a group of warriors willing to risk their lives to be loyal to them?
The fervor of these soldiers was far greater than that of the Eagle Guard they had encountered in the Black Hawk Empire!
With the veterans' crossfire, they successfully killed two players, barely managing to repel a wave of hapless attacks from the players.

But at the same time, they were unaware of the danger behind them.

Just as a group of solo players launched a surprise attack, players from other guilds circled around from behind and quietly exchanged for a batch of melee weapons from their guilds.

However, the melee weapon he redeemed wasn't a katana, but a very interesting and peculiar weapon found on the battlefield—the infamous dud baton!
This thing is quite an oddity among all the melee weapons in Battlefield 1.

The prototype of this weapon comes from a spherical grenade designed by Germany in 1913 during World War I.

Because the hand grenade was designed to be too large and weighed a full kilogram, it was difficult to throw it far even with a target attached.

Furthermore, the fragmentation damage from this grenade could easily cause friendly fire during an attack, so the Germans quickly phased out this grenade.

However, due to a lack of weapons, these obsolete grenades were ultimately put to good use:
Some Germans emptied the gunpowder from hand grenades, filled them with other things, and turned them into small hammers.

The problem was that due to logistical chaos and poor warehouse management, some grenades that had not had their gunpowder removed were mixed in with the grenades that had been emptied of their gunpowder.

In addition, since this grenade is designed to explode using an impact fuse, those grenades that haven't had their gunpowder removed are very likely to detonate when swung.

In Battlefield games, this weapon, in its normal state, is roughly equivalent to an ordinary blunt weapon that can smash an enemy's head and cause them to bleed, without anything particularly special about it.

However, when using this weapon, there is a certain probability that it will explode!
Once the explosion is triggered, it's like holding an anti-tank grenade in your hand, instantly taking the enemy down with you!
Players charging up from the side with duds didn't attract the enemy's attention until an unlucky guy was hit on the back of the head with a dud and screamed before dying. Only then did the enemy notice the uninvited guests coming from the side.

Another Altera soldier was just about to turn around and stab someone with his bayonet, but his rifle was too long, and before he could turn it around, the dud baton slammed into his face.

Unfortunately, this player seemed to be unlucky; he had only hit the second person when the dud baton exploded!

With a deafening roar, unlike in the game where both sides' soldiers would be blown away, in reality, this dud bomb with a large explosive charge directly blew both sides' soldiers into pieces!

At the same time, dozens of shrapnel fragments from the dud bullet flew everywhere, instantly killing or maiming more than a dozen Alterania soldiers in the vicinity.

An Altera unit that was just about to arrive to provide support, located at the other end of the street, was stunned by what it saw.

They hesitated only slightly before turning around and retreating without hesitation.

Please, they do want to come and support their teammates, but they don't want to mess with a lunatic like this!
What the hell are these guys holding? Did they modify grenades into hammers?
Good grief, this is the first time they've ever seen someone bring a grenade and charge at them in close combat, seemingly about to self-destruct!

They can't afford to mess with this madman. They really can't handle this kind of ruthless character. Let's leave this kind of tough guy to our teammates!
At the same time, the other Cambrian soldiers also looked at the spot where the player had exploded earlier with horrified eyes.

These ordinary soldiers, who were not part of the players, had no idea what a dud grenade baton was. They thought someone was rushing up with a grenade and was going to take the enemy down with them!
Please, we're all soldiers, why are you guys so ruthless?

What deep-seated hatred could drive someone to commit such a mad act against Altera?
The battle lasted about half a day. Andrei and his men engaged in an extremely fierce melee in the city and eventually succeeded in occupying the entire district south of the bridge.

As for the districts marked D and E on the other side, they are still under enemy control for the time being.

Because the players had limited forces, they did not rashly launch an attack on the other side. Instead, they used tanks and heavy infantry to block the bridge while continuously bombarding the other side.

The siege artillery brought by Andrei played a crucial role. When these heavy cannons were combined with the reconnaissance fighters overhead, they were able to hit the enemy on the other side with a single shot!

No matter which building they hid in, or what secluded place they took, the shells, as if targeted by the Grim Reaper, would follow them relentlessly.

If this building is hit by a shell, there is no doubt that the entire building will collapse on the spot, burying everyone inside.

It seems that no matter what kind of civilian building it is, it would be difficult to withstand such a 9.2-inch siege shell.

Andrei also stationed a guard of local soldiers at the train station, using the armored train behind them as his temporary headquarters.

"Good news, everyone! We have temporarily taken control of the entire southern city area!"

On the map, Andrei drew a circle with his pen and excitedly said to the staff officers around him:
"We have two options now. One option is to continue the offensive to the north and try to take the remaining city as quickly as possible. The other option is to rest where we are and then use artillery fire to force the enemy to take the initiative!"

After listening to Andrei's words, the group of staff officers pondered for a moment and then said in unison:

"General, I suggest we prioritize stability and refrain from launching any further attacks!"

"What we need to do next is to sweep through the areas we have already occupied to ensure that no enemy is hiding before continuing the attack. Otherwise, our soldiers are very likely to fall into an enemy ambush."

These staff officers were unaware that Andrei's air force could both bomb and provide targets, nor did they know that the players under his command had unlimited stamina.

Therefore, in their view, Andrei's troops should be exhausted after a fierce battle.

Furthermore, the enemy's deployment on the other side is unknown, so they should play it safe for now. Throughout history, countless generals have failed because of their greed for merit and recklessness.

After the staff officers finished speaking, Chief of Staff Nikolayev nodded and said:
"General, I also think we should stop the attack and defend the bridge for a while!"

"It can be said that the advantage is actually on our side now. We have occupied the train station, which allows us to continuously supply materials from the rear. The half of the city that we have occupied can also become a meat grinder to lure the enemy."

“Unless they are prepared to completely abandon this transportation hub, they will have to take the initiative to attack if they don’t want to be bombarded by us indefinitely.”

"At that time, our troops who have taken control of the bridge can take advantage of the terrain and inflict heavy losses on them!"

Andrei nodded, agreeing with Nikolayev's point.

From the players' perspective, they would certainly prefer to keep pushing forward, but from Andrei's perspective, his soldiers were indeed exhausted.

Most importantly, he wanted to wait for his comrades behind him and have them hurry up and help him capture the cities along the way.

Whether it's the half of the city that's already under his control, or the towns and villages he conquered along the way, they're now completely empty.

If no friendly forces come to occupy these areas, the enemy is likely to retake them and then encircle Andrei's troops.

Therefore, he did not want to become too disconnected from the friendly forces behind him, nor did he want his troops to perform too exceptionally.

While he did have to admit that the players under his command were still a bit short of becoming gods, they were already far from being human!

But just then, a cavalryman rushed over, panting, and reported to Andrei:
"General, good news! Our troops have just received contact from the enemy on the other side; they have officially surrendered to us!"

what's the situation?
He had just set up a brutal, grinding tactic to turn this city into a replica of Stalingrad, so how come the enemy surrendered so suddenly?

These guys have such a weak will to resist!

"...Okay, what did they say? What are their conditions?"

After sighing, Andrei inquired carefully and finally learned what was going on on the other side.

Faced with Andrei's bridge-blocking tactics, the enemy naturally could not simply give up half of the city.

They launched several attacks in succession, attempting to retake the bridge, using various weapons, but were ultimately repelled by Andrei's troops.

There was no other way; they simply didn't have any weapons that could deal with the T-34 tank. At this stage, it was practically a game-changer.

With their anti-tank weapons, they have no way to destroy these tanks with 60mm frontal armor, especially since they are sloped, unless they use human bombs.

However, their human bombs were unable to get through, since the bridge was so narrow that several tanks were lined up side by side, and machine guns were enough to block everything.

Their anti-tank weapons might be able to damage a T-34, but under the unscientific operation of those mechanic players, any damage would be meaningless.

For maintenance soldiers, things like knocking off tracks or jamming turret rings are just simple matters to handle by tightening a wrench a couple of times.

Furthermore, Andrei's air force was able to use signal flares and photography skills to expose the enemy's troop concentrations, which could then be eliminated one by one with heavy artillery, making it impossible for them to withstand the losses.

Heavy artillery isn't scary; what's scary is heavy artillery with eyes.

They finally managed to assemble a special operations team and gathered in a building by the river, intending to rest there temporarily.

But in the next quarter of an hour, the building was blasted flat by the siege cannons, and the nearly one hundred elite soldiers who had been assembled were all wiped out.

The same was true elsewhere, to the point that their soldiers dared not gather in groups of more than ten, lest they be subjected to inhumane artillery fire.

After this ordeal, the Altrians on the other side completely broke down; they simply couldn't stand the feeling of being targeted by death.

Of course, this was not the main issue behind their surrender.

The main reason they surrendered so readily was because a rebel force had emerged within their ranks.

This rebel group was unclear about its purpose; it didn't seem to support the Cambrian Empire, nor did it seem to want to stop the fighting. Instead, it kept assassinating its comrades and collecting their hearts.

"...So, General, the only condition the Altrians on the other side have for surrendering is that they want us to help them completely wipe out this rebel army, which has caused them a lot of trouble."

Andrei frowned slightly as he listened to his soldiers' explanation.

"Does anyone know what's going on with these rebels? Why have their men suddenly gone mad?"

As soon as Andrei finished speaking, the soldier quickly said:
“Sir, I heard from someone that these rebel soldiers apparently fought a battle on the other side of the river and then saw something they shouldn’t have seen.”

"Anyway, some of them may have been driven mad by fear, or they may have been provoked by other things. It is said that there are also mages from the Black Hawk Empire in the rebel army, inciting other soldiers to mutini!"

"In short, this rebel army seems a bit strange!"

He was provoked. What provoked him?

Andrei scratched his head, then suddenly remembered the player's previous antics.

He remembered that some players had instructed psionicists to use psionic overload, then add it to a catapult and launch it, opening a warp portal.

In this respect, this group of Alteranians had fought a great battle against the Chaos Egg and also engaged in a fierce battle with the Tzeentch Demon.

So...could they have been corrupted by demons?

Andrei subconsciously brought up the system, wanting to check the chaotic corruption in this region.

Unfortunately, my system doesn't seem to display chaotic corruption; at least I haven't found that feature yet.

"Hiss, these warp-related gadgets are really no good. These illegal psionic units are probably not simple..."

As he spoke, Andrei turned his gaze to the Chosen category in his system.

He knew that this Chosen One was not just about having a few more unit types and skill trees; there was probably something else going on.

However, his reaction was quite calm, after all, he was now so infested with lice that he wasn't bothered by the itch.

This world is already full of all sorts of weird and wonderful things, and all kinds of evil things are everywhere, so what's so strange about the emergence of a subspace?

"Alright, in that case, let's send the Guards Assault Team over to launch an attack, on the condition that they lay down their weapons, surrender, and cross the river immediately!"

"If they are unwilling to lay down their arms and cross the river to surrender immediately, then ignore them and let the cannons keep firing!"
