Chapter 157 Is America Really That Dangerous?

The incident in which a Bureau of Investigation agent was arrested in Louisiana after his car broke down and he was in a sorry state, mistaken for an illegal immigrant by local "law enforcement" became a minor joke.

The reason for saying "not too big, not too small" is that in this frenzy of arresting "illegal immigrants" that has swept through several southern states, there have been far too many similar, or even more absurd, "law enforcement" farces!

As is well known, the United States does not have a nationally unified ID card system.

So how do you distinguish between legal immigrants and illegal immigrants in a land with a group of people who look and speak different languages?
This question is probably only answered correctly by Native Americans who are completely baffled.

Louisiana state police and "civilian law enforcement" don't need the right answer; they only need a simple and brutal method of identification—making the person being questioned produce twenty dollars in cash on the spot.

Those who can immediately produce proof of their financial ability are either legal residents or have legitimate jobs.

If they can't produce it, then classify them as illegal immigrants, or at least potential illegal immigrants, and arrest them first!

The agents from the Bureau of Investigation were only questioned because they were in a sorry state during their journey and had lost face.

Yes, the key issue isn't whether you can produce twenty dollars, but whether you'll be questioned!

Whether or not someone will become a target of investigation is almost unequivocally clear—it's directly related to skin color.

At least in Louisiana, out of a hundred white people, perhaps one would be stopped and asked to "verify their credentials."
But at least half of all non-white ethnic groups, such as Latinos, will experience this kind of "treatment".
As for Black people, this proportion would brutally soar to over 90%.

The reason it's not 100% is because some Black people, seeing the danger from afar, would run away, and it's well known that Black people have exceptional athletic abilities...

Not only in Louisiana, but also in states like Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama, a lone Black person is almost guaranteed to be questioned.

The methods of identification, however, each employ their own unique approaches:
In Mississippi, anyone with suspicious scars, especially those that look like they were from a fight or a gunshot wound, is immediately identified as a vicious and aggressive "illegal immigrant" or "dangerous person" and arrested without further questioning!

In Arkansas, anyone who speaks Spanish or English with any "non-American" accent—who knows what an "American accent" is—is immediately identified as an "illegal immigrant" and arrested!

In Oklahoma, the situation is most outrageous: if a Black person dares to look a white law enforcement officer in the eye, they are considered to be "provoking white authority" or "having ulterior motives," and are subsequently identified as a "dangerous illegal immigrant who has been armed or has a tendency to resist," and arrested!

Undoubtedly, in these areas, the "law enforcers" at the forefront are mostly thugs who call themselves "civilian security maintainers." Often, they don't even bother with this fig leaf, directly parading around in the classic white robes and pointed hats of the KKK.

For the KKK in these states, the federal "crackdown on illegal immigration" campaign is like a long-awaited rain after a drought, bringing them a "clear sky and bright sun"!
For the past six months or so, who would have thought that they would oppress Black people and that Black people would actually dare to fight back?
Rebellion is one thing, but a little resistance is what makes it fun!

But they actually resisted so fiercely?

Under targeted ambushes and counterattacks by Black armed forces, several KKK branches in various regions were practically in mourning, suffering terribly!
Now, the federal government has finally taken action!

Although it's nominally a crackdown on "illegal immigrants," aren't all Black people in America "illegal" anyway?
Their ancestors were forcibly abducted, and their very existence is "illegal"!
Arrest them, arrest them all, and put them in prison. It would be best to use this opportunity to restore that wonderful system of slavery!

As a result, under the banner of "patriotism" and "law enforcement," chaos ensued in several states, with bizarre incidents of arresting people based on their skin color and convicting them based on their mood. Even diplomats from other countries were almost arrested as "illegal immigrants."

In comparison, the arrest and swift release of the FBI agents can only be considered a minor episode in this farce.

But Hoover was furious!

Enough! Local law enforcement agencies only have the right to assist in investigations! Who gave them the power to arbitrarily arrest citizens, especially based on such absurd standards?!

If we let them run wild like this, what are our investigation bureau and immigration bureau supposed to do?

Then, it was announced that judicial oversight would be introduced to standardize procedures.

The identity of all detainees cannot be determined unilaterally by local police departments, or even solely by the immigration or investigation bureau.

The case must be brought into court proceedings, with a hearing conducted by a federal judge or designated commissioner to determine the legality of the immigration status based on the evidence.

Finally, the Bureau of Investigation, waving the banner of "anti-racism," instructed its subordinates to repeatedly emphasize in public statements and actions: "The fight against illegal immigration must adhere to the principle of equality before the law. The Bureau of Investigation will treat all illegal immigrants equally, regardless of skin color or origin!"

Talk is cheap, so while Hoover sent agents to the South to investigate, he also took simultaneous action in the North.

Several teams of fully armed Bureau of Investigation agents, armed with search warrants, swept through major immigration ports such as New York Harbor and Boston Harbor, conducting raids on hideouts near the ports.

Believe it or not, they actually managed to smuggle a group of "real illegal immigrants" from Europe into the country!
These were European heroes who harbored the dream that "Americans are stupid and rich, come quick!" During the interrogation, several serial killers and violent robbers registered with European police were discovered among them!
The news caused an uproar in American public opinion!
These truly dangerous individuals perfectly confirm the terrifying predictions made by the media earlier regarding "illegal immigration leading to a deterioration in public security."

Even the media, which had been criticizing the farcical law enforcement practices in the south, could only turn around and praise the Investigation Bureau!

Besides, didn't the Bureau of Investigation announce regulations for law enforcement in the South?

After a series of actions, the Investigation Bureau's public image underwent a dramatic reversal.

People's perception of the Bureau of Investigation as an incompetent and useless entity colluding with fraudsters was quickly replaced by that of a professional, efficient, and powerful law enforcement agency that upholds national security in accordance with the law.
