Chapter 7 Interim Goals

Chapter 7 Interim Goals

Throw!!

Wei Lai suddenly woke up from his bed, panting heavily, feeling as if he had just had a vivid dream.

In a dream.
"what?"

Wei Lai felt sticky all over. Looking down, he found that the entire bed was soaked.

Wei Lai was shocked. He immediately lifted the covers and found that the entire bed sheet and bedding were soaked.

All of this suggests that the incredibly vivid dream might actually be real!

But he didn't have time to think too much and quickly got up to wash the bedding.

Fortunately, my roommates who were playing games all night haven't come back yet, otherwise things would have been complicated.

"Ahhh, I'm so sleepy!"

"You guys only ate chicken once all night, you're really bad!"

"Let's go and fight! What's there to be afraid of!"

"What the hell?! Me, sniping someone with a sniper rifle against a 98K? How am I supposed to compete without looting some gear?"

"What's the point of searching? If someone blocks the bridge, we're still going to die."

"Stop arguing, go back to sleep, you still have to get up and pack your luggage in a little while!"

The three men who stayed overnight returned to their dormitory, but they didn't see Wei Lai.

Instead, I heard the sound of running water coming from the washroom.

"What are you doing?"

As Cheng Haoran walked toward the toilet, he saw Wei Lai diligently scrubbing the bed sheets and blankets in the washroom.

"Wash the sheets!"

Wei Lai said without turning his head.

"Wash it now?" Cheng Haoran asked, puzzled.

Wei Lai: "I've washed it now, so I won't need to wash it again when I get back."

Cheng Haoran shrugged: "Okay!"

After saying that, he turned and went into the bathroom.

He didn't have much desire to communicate with Wei Lai either, as Wei Lai himself was a bit introverted and not very sociable.

Next semester, Wei Lai will be promoted to the second-tier team, so there's even less to talk about.

It rained last night, which cleaned the air very well.

Wei Lai ran on the court, each step he took was very powerful, and he did not feel weak when he ran. On the contrary, he ran more and more energetically.

Even after trying to sprint back and forth several times, Wei Lai still felt full of energy.

Phew~~~~
Wei Lai stopped in his tracks, his eyes sparkling.

"efficient!"

It's not just effective, it's remarkably effective.

Wei Lai felt that his physical fitness had improved significantly, and he was even gradually catching up with his peak physical fitness level.

This is also a result of the cardiopulmonary function being trained.

"It's still early, let's practice something else!"

Thinking of this, Wei Lai ran towards the equipment room.

Around noon, the football academy's boys began to leave the school one after another and board buses to head to the train station.

During summer and winter vacations, they have a month-long break to go home and spend time with their families.

The young players also cherish this time very much.

After a semester of arduous training, they all longed to go home and rest in their parents' arms.

Boom!

On the training field, Wei Lai practiced his basic skills by continuously flicking and pulling the ball.

Since receiving help from the system, his enthusiasm for training has soared.

This means that there is room for improvement, and perhaps one will no longer be limited by talent.

At the very least, the progress made in last night's 'simulated match' was very obvious.

And of course, there's that Yakult coach's Spartan-style training!

Despite the painful training, Wei Lai was not afraid of it, or rather, he somewhat enjoyed the feeling of progress.

After all, he could endure the boring training with no future in the past, let alone now that he has made obvious progress!

boom!
Wei Lai sent the ball into the small goal, took out his phone and checked the time. He realized it was already 11 o'clock and his father could arrive at any moment.

He immediately got up from the ground, packed all the equipment, and carried it back to the equipment room.

"Have you finished practicing?"

An old man was sitting at the entrance of the equipment room, puffing on a cigarette.

He shook the cigarette pack at Wei Lai and laughed, "Nice cigarettes!"

"Hey! It's not a very good cigarette, but you'll have to make do with it for now!" After saying that, Wei Lai carried the equipment inside, came out again, clapped his hands, and laughed, "I'll bring you some local specialties from Bohai Port when I get back!"

The old man chuckled as he looked at Wei Lai and said, "Then, I'll give you a back door, old man?"

"Look at what you're saying! I just want to practice more, so I'll have to trouble you to open the door for me. It's only right to show my respect!" Wei Lai's phone vibrated, and he said somewhat anxiously, "Sir, my dad seems to have arrived. I have to go now. I'll trouble you again after summer vacation!"

The old man nodded without saying anything, watching Wei Lai's departing figure with a cheerful expression.

He crumpled the cigarette pack: "Nice cigarettes!"

After saying that, he looked again at Wei Lai's figure disappearing around the corner. "He's a good guy too!"

Back in his dorm, Wei Lai quickly washed up, changed into clean clothes, then grabbed his suitcase, grabbed his soccer ball, and jogged out.

When he arrived at the school gate, a middle-aged man of about 35 years old was already standing there.

"dad!"

Wei Lai shouted and immediately ran over.

"Xiao Lai!" Wei Chenggong's face also lit up with a smile. He took Wei Lai's suitcase and looked him up and down. "You've gotten quite a bit stronger!"

Wei Lai chuckled and said, "Of course! I've been training really hard. I have some good news for you: I got promoted in the final exams and I've been promoted to the B-level team!"

Wei Chenggong exclaimed in surprise, "Really?"

"Guaranteed authentic!" Wei Lai smiled broadly.

Wei Chenggong patted Wei Lai's shoulder forcefully: "Good lad, I knew you could do it. You've been talented since you were a child!"

Wei Lai grinned to himself, then turned and said, "Dad, let's go!"

To get from Jiaozhou to Bohai Port, you have to take a long detour by car or high-speed rail because there is no cross-sea bridge.

Fortunately, there is still a waterway to travel by.

Wei Chenggong and Wei Lai first took the high-speed rail to the coastal city of Laiyang, boarded the ship at 10 p.m., and departed on time at 12 p.m.

It will take about six hours, which means we should arrive at Bohai Port City by tomorrow morning.

As dawn broke, Wei Lai stood on the ship's railing, watching the pale white moon slowly rise over the distant sea.
Before long, the sky gradually brightened.

Under the damp, salty sea breeze, the outline of a coastal city gradually emerges in the distance.

hum! !

With the sound of a horn, the ship was about to dock.

Wei Chenggong led Wei Lai off the ship, where Chen Qian was already waiting at the exit.

Upon seeing Wei Lai, she rushed over with delight and gave her son, whom she hadn't seen in a long time, a big hug.

"You've gotten darker! And stronger!" Chen Qian looked at Wei Lai's dark face with heartache.

Wei Lai grinned, showing his big teeth, and said, "Mom, I ordered food! I really miss your cooking!"

Upon hearing this, Chen Qian burst into laughter through her tears; "I've been preparing for this for a long time, let's go! Let's go home!"

Early in the morning, Chen Qian prepared a sumptuous meal, with almost all of Wei Lai's favorite dishes on the table.

Wei Lai also ate heartily, wolfing down his food.

Chen Qian kept telling everyone to eat slowly while continuing to put food on her plate.

Wei Chenggong looked at his son with a smile, his eyes full of satisfaction.

After finishing his meal, Wei Lai stood in the living room for a while, then picked up the ball and prepared to go out.

"Dad! I'm going to practice!"

Wei Chenggong didn't say anything, but Chen Qian said with dissatisfaction, "You just got home and started training right away. You haven't had a proper rest on the way here."

Wei Lai turned his head and smiled, "Mom, I'm known as a physical prodigy at the football academy!"

Actually, he's a 'physical idiot'.

Wei Chenggong gave a thumbs up: "Good son, go!"

As a football fan, Wei Lai's father unconditionally supports him.

If it weren't for pure passion, he wouldn't have sent Wei Lai to the Willys Football School.

Bohai Port is known as the "City of Football," but that's an old name.

This city used to have many stadiums, and even more of them were free.

Now, however, it is either being demolished or abandoned.

Fortunately, there is still a public sports field about three kilometers away from Wei Lai’s home.

Wei Lai scanned a shared bicycle and headed to the football field for training.

The stadium was deserted during the day. Wei Lai put the ball aside and slowly exhaled.

He's going to make the most of this month-long summer vacation and give it his all.

Train more, sleep more (training)!
They need to close the gap as soon as possible, since time is running out for him.

The 2026 World Youth Championships will mark the beginning of the rise of the golden generation.

These fledgling dragons, still growing, made their voices heard on the world stage for the first time.

This is also a crucial juncture in their growth!
Wei Lai naturally didn't want to miss such a wonderful experience.

The U17 World Youth Football Championship is a tournament that recruits talented players from across the country, with a maximum age of 17.

This area encompasses three major grassroots youth training systems: traditional youth training, online youth training, and school football academies.

Of course, traditional youth training is the main focus, and the renowned Willy Football School and Guangfa Football School occupy half of the top spots in traditional youth training.

The two football academies contributed a total of 16 players to the U17 national youth team roster.

For Wei Lai, to get into the top-tier team, he must first enter the first-tier team.

Because only teams in the top tier are eligible for selection.

At the latest, Wei Lai will have to be in the top-tier team to catch up in the final exams this semester.

He didn't want to be a spectator again, so he had no choice but to work hard and give it his all!
