Chapter 419 The Unexpected Maniac

The back entrance to the poker club in the city center.

Conan looked at the poker club in front of him, and subconsciously reached out and patted his cheek.

He tried to be more clear-headed and focused, because the upcoming conversation could very well determine the game's final outcome, and he didn't think the other four dungeons were the type of content players could complete.

It's not that I don't believe, it's just that I can't.

This has nothing to do with gaming skills. It's like putting a super-powerful gamer into a real Tetris game; if she's not strong enough to support a massive falling block, she'll be smashed to pieces.
However, if the hardware is inadequate, no matter how excellent the software is, it will not achieve the desired results.

"I'll go in alone, and you can come in after I give you a hand signal, okay?"

Conan turned to the Junior Detective League members behind him and said,
Hearing this, everyone exchanged glances. It was only when Ran Mouri, the only older child present, spoke that the others accepted Conan's heroic act. However, Hideki Moroboshi narrowed his eyes slightly.

—Shinichi Kudo is the Sherlock Holmes of the Heisei era.

Undoubtedly, his reasoning ability is quite remarkable, and the fact that the criminals in Beika Town knelt and begged for mercy after being exposed by Shinichi Kudo shows that Shinichi Kudo's ability to grasp the psychology of his targets is also near perfect.
If you asked Shinichi Kudo to join the poker club alone, he might actually succeed in getting it done.

Hideki Moroboshi could not allow such a thing to happen.
He snapped his fingers lightly, and instantly his presence became somewhat blurred. The next moment, his figure disappeared from the spot and appeared inside the poker club near the back door, where his body slowly solidified.

Neither the members of the Junior Detective League nor his teammates noticed Hideki Moroboshi's departure.

After all, Hideki Moroboshi's departure was completely silent and he disappeared in the blink of an eye, and the back door was only opened once. Who would have thought that a GM would use such a shameful privilege to bypass the firewall?
Even Conan was completely unaware that Hideki Moroboshi had suddenly appeared next to him.

He simply gripped the small bar counter with both hands, peering into the poker club. At that moment, Colonel Moran, whom he wanted to contact, was playing cards with others, and the atmosphere inside was bustling with activity.

Furthermore, Conan noticed a monkey on the bar counter nearby, with a bowl on either side of it.

The bowl contained red and black beans. Before Colonel Moran played his card, the monkey would grab the beans from the bowl and make subtle gestures to help Colonel Moran cheat and win.

However, that's not worth noting; cheating is certainly a shameful thing.

But now is not the time to expose them, especially since Conan is preparing to negotiate with Colonel Moran. He cannot embarrass Colonel Moran too much, otherwise the two sides will escalate into a violent conflict.

What's noteworthy is the wine displayed on the side.

The dark-colored bottle made it impossible to see what was inside, but Conan could tell from the label that it was a very expensive bottle of wine, one that even ordinary nobles couldn't afford.

Clearly, Colonel Moran's social standing was not high enough for him to buy such a bottle of wine and then have it packaged and placed aside.

This bottle of wine might be...

Just as Conan was pondering, the next moment, Hideki Moroboshi lowered his voice and asked,
"Hey, four-eyed guy, what are you looking at?" "Why does Colonel Moran always win at cards? Does he have some kind of special ability?"

Conan's thoughts were interrupted.
He turned to look at Hideki Moroboshi, a hint of surprise in his eyes. He had previously undergone Chen En's special training; even though his body couldn't grow due to special circumstances, his mastery and skills with his body had improved.

If Hideki Moroboshi had simply pushed the door open normally, there was no way he wouldn't have heard anything. How did this guy get in?
Although hesitant, Conan already suspected that Hideki Moroboshi's true identity was Noah's Ark. However, he was worried that Noah's Ark might become angry, so he didn't expose him and continued to observe from the shadows.

Now that Hideki Moroboshi has asked this question, Conan hesitated for a moment before answering him.
“Look at that monkey. That monkey will give a gesture before Colonel Moran plays his card. If I’m not mistaken, the bowls and beans on its left and right each represent a suit and a number, and the gesture it makes with its raised arm represents the remaining two suits and numbers.”

Before Conan could finish speaking, Hideki Moroboshi, as if simply going through the motions, flipped over the bar and landed on the floor.
He pointed at Colonel Moran and said...

"He cheated! He used those monkeys over there to figure out the suits and ranks of the other players' cards, which is why you kept losing to Colonel Moran!"

Conan was startled by Hideki Moroboshi's actions. Was this guy no longer going to act?

The next moment, just as Conan had predicted, Colonel Moran, embarrassed by his exposed identity, flew into a rage. He walked towards Hideki Moroboshi, about to grab him, but saw Moroboshi draw his pistol and point it at him.

"Enough with the childish game. Tell me, where is Professor Moriarty right now?"

Colonel Moran noticed that the boy in red was carrying a gun and involuntarily took a step back.
Then, his brow furrowed, and he questioned,
"How did you know Professor Moriarty? You... are you perhaps one of Holmes's Baker Street squad? I advise you to—"

Before he finished speaking, Colonel Moran lunged at Hideki Moroboshi, preparing to seize his gun.

As if on cue, Hideki Moroboshi pulled the trigger, and the bullet pierced Colonel Moran's forehead. Professor Moriarty's trusted lieutenant died instantly, without even a utterance.
This horrifying scene immediately startled everyone.

However, Colonel Moran's death only fueled the ferocity of Professor Moriarty's henchmen. They grabbed their weapons and charged at Hideki Moroboshi. The Junior Detective Club members heard the gunshots and rushed in to rescue Hideki Moroboshi.

Seeing this scene, Conan stood on the bar, not moving.

The other thugs didn't approach him either, as if everyone had tacitly made way for him. He stared at the bottle of wine, finally realizing that it was the key to everything. With a few swift leaps, he snatched the wine away.
He raised the bottle of wine in his hand and said loudly.
"Don't move! If you move again, I'll smash this bottle!"

All the thugs wore expressions of utter terror, which surprised Conan. The next moment, the door to the poker club opened, and a figure stood in the doorway. He looked up, revealing a chilling smile.

"You really... disappoint me so much, sweetheart."

The bullet struck the bottle of red wine; however, it didn't contain wine, but rather kerosene. The fuel, along with the broken bottle, transformed into a raging inferno that engulfed the entire poker club.

The figure, running around like a torch, was still laughing.
However, the laughter grew increasingly maniacal.

"Hahahahahahaha, hahahahahahaha!!!"
