Chapter 651 Playing
After having dinner out, the three of them did not return to the villa immediately, but instead went to Sanbaoshan for sightseeing under Hu Jing's guidance.
Sanbaoshan, also known as "Sanbaoshan" or "China Hill," carries a profound historical story and has an inextricable connection with Cheng Sheng—this is the place where Zheng He's fleet once stayed in the movie "Zheng He's Voyages to the West," which he is currently filming.
According to Hu Jing, in 1409, the Chinese emperor betrothed Princess Hang Li Po to Sultan Mansour of Malacca. The 500 female servants who accompanied her settled here. The Sultan's meticulous care for them also forged an indissoluble bond between this beautiful story and Sanbao Mountain.
Later, after the Portuguese occupied Malacca, they built a temple and a chapel on the hilltop to commemorate this moment of cultural exchange. Unfortunately, these buildings could not withstand the erosion of time and were destroyed when the Dutch invaded in 1629, silently witnessing the changing times.
The mountain still preserves the Sam Po Temple, Sam Po Well (legend has it that it was dug on the orders of Zheng He), and a group of Chinese cemeteries, making it one of the most famous Chinese historical sites in Malacca.
The Sanbao Temple houses a statue of Zheng He. The temple adopts the traditional Chinese architectural style, with red walls, glazed tiles, flying eaves, and colorful dragons. Inside, there is a seated statue of Zheng He, which is of great cultural symbolic significance.
At the southwestern foot of the mountain stands the Pusa Ti Temple, a temple built by the Sultan for Princess Hang Li Po. Its architectural style is exotic and exquisite.
Next to the temple is a well called Hang Li Po Well. What makes it special is that even though Malacca has experienced many severe droughts, this well has always maintained a sufficient water source and has never dried up. It has become a guardian well in the hearts of the people of Malacca.
In addition, there is the Huaxia Mountain Cemetery on the mountain, which is the largest Chinese cemetery outside of Huaxia, covering an area of about 25 hectares and burying more than 12000 people, most of whom are immigrants from the Ming and Qing dynasties, and has extremely high historical value.
Led by Hu Jing, Cheng Sheng and Zeng Li enjoyed a wonderful time exploring Sanbaoshan. They appreciated the local cultural and natural landscapes while listening to Hu Jing's historical stories, gaining a deeper understanding of this cultural exchange that spans thousands of years.
By the time the three returned to the villa, it was already evening.
Cheng Sheng originally planned to take Zeng Li back to the film set by plane after dinner, but when he called the airport to book tickets, the airport staff told him that all flights tonight were canceled because of strong turbulence in the airspace above the airport. In order to avoid accidents, all flights were rescheduled to take off tomorrow.
Cheng Sheng had no choice but to stay at Hu Jing's place for the night and then take Zeng Li back to the film set early the next morning.
Therefore, Cheng Sheng specifically called Li Xiaoran and Da Tiantian to explain the situation and tell them not to worry.
Knowing that Cheng Sheng wouldn't be back that night, the two women were a little unhappy, but they didn't complain. They just repeatedly told Cheng Sheng to be careful and not to worry, saying it wouldn't matter if he came back a day later. Cheng Sheng chatted with the two women for more than half an hour, calming them down before hanging up. Afterwards, he had dinner with Zeng Li and Hu Jing.
The three of them did not go out for dinner. Instead, Hu Jing asked the maid to prepare a sumptuous dinner, which was surprisingly a standard Chinese meal.
To ensure Cheng Sheng could enjoy authentic hometown flavors, Hu Jing specially invited a chef skilled in cooking traditional Chinese cuisine. Every dish was visually appealing, fragrant, and delicious, brimming with the taste of home.
During the meal, the three chatted and ate in a very harmonious atmosphere. Cheng Sheng also asked about Zhu Ge's situation, and Hu Jing told him that her fiancé's company was having some trouble and he probably wouldn't be able to come back tonight. She told them not to wait for him and to take good care of Cheng Sheng and Zeng Li.
"Big Pear, I'm getting married next year." Hu Jing took a sip of red wine, looked at Zeng Li, and asked with a smile, "When are you planning to marry Cheng Sheng? I'm looking forward to drinking your wedding wine."
Ahem! Upon hearing this, Zeng Li's cheeks flushed instantly, and she couldn't help but cough twice. She subconsciously glanced at Cheng Sheng—she remembered that Cheng Sheng had made it clear to her before that he had no plans to get married in the short term, and that she herself didn't want to get married so soon and wanted to enjoy more time together as a couple.
"It depends on fate," Zeng Li said dismissively, avoiding Cheng Sheng's gaze. "Just let nature take its course, there's no rush."
"Alright then, I wish you both a speedy fruitful marriage and a happy ending." Hu Jing noticed Zeng Li's embarrassment, didn't press further, and instead raised her glass with a smile.
"Cheers! I also wish you and Brother Zhu a happy marriage next year and a baby soon." Cheng Sheng smiled, raised his glass, and clinked it with Hu Jing's.
"Cheers!" Zeng Li raised her glass, clinked it lightly with the two of them, and then drank it all in one gulp. After putting down her glass, she asked Hu Jing, "Jingjing, after you and Mr. Zhu get married, are you planning to retire from the entertainment industry? I've seen many female celebrities choose to retire from acting after marriage to focus on taking care of their families."
"Well, I plan to take a break from acting for a while." After thinking for a moment, Hu Jing said slowly, "I'll take good care of my family and get used to married life first. As for whether I'll make a comeback later, we'll see how things go."
Upon hearing this, Cheng Sheng understood—he knew Hu Jing's future trajectory clearly through another memory.
Not long after getting married, Hu Jing did gradually fade out of the entertainment industry and turned to a life of being a wife and mother. However, she did not completely retire from acting and occasionally attended events in the fields of charity and fashion. She just focused her life on her family.
In 2010, when her son was less than six months old, she went to Yangzhou alone to film "Love Repair Station". She once said that "if I don't work, I will get moldy". It can be seen that Hu Jing is also a person who can't sit still. For her, acting is more of a hobby than simply a way to make money.
In fact, she had already filmed "Palace of Desire" before, which shows that she did not retire from acting for a long time after marriage.
In 2015, she officially returned to the mainstream spotlight, making a strong comeback and gaining widespread attention with her role as "Gao Xiaoqin" in the phenomenal TV series "In the Name of the People." This role also became her representative work after her comeback.
After that, she took a five-year hiatus from acting until 2020, when she made a comeback by participating in the hit variety show "Sisters Who Make Waves 2," thus returning to the public eye.
At nine o'clock in the evening, after dinner, the three of them went for a walk in the villa's garden to digest their food.
Hu Jing and Zeng Li walked ahead hand in hand, chatting and laughing. Cheng Sheng followed quietly behind them, listening to their conversation, occasionally glancing up at the night sky, enjoying this rare moment of tranquility. (End of Chapter)
