I summoned the Fourth Scourge in Warhammer
Chapter 221 Given the current situation, I have three strategies: superior, middle, and inferior.
Chapter 221 Given the current situation, I have three strategies: superior, middle, and inferior.
Before the dust of war had settled in orbit, a Thunderhawk gunship had already broken free of the hangar of the "Magna Macragge's Glory" and swooped down toward the war-torn planet below.
Inside the gunship, the atmosphere was solemn. The key figures who would determine the fate of the entire war zone—Commander Karga, Nguyen Van Bo, the Mechanical Sage Wick, and Inquisitor Koptman—were the first to head towards the surface of Plantim.
The hatch opened, and a pungent stench of chemical fumes, gunpowder smoke, and the acrid smell of aliens rushed in. The welcoming party was surprisingly sparse.
Only EGO himself, and the thousands of people who went to their deaths behind him.
It's not surprising that Sicarius and Huron didn't come. The group had already read the battle briefing sent by Plantim on the way and knew that the two Space Marines were seriously injured in the previous battle and were probably still in the medical bay. But why didn't even one Astartes come?
“Welcome, everyone,” EGO stepped forward. “I’m very sorry for the delay. When we received news of the fleet’s arrival, Captain Agman was leading the Space Marines in battle against the Tyranids at the front. It would take him some time to withdraw from the position and return to command. So, only I can greet you.”
“I see,” Calga nodded in understanding. He glanced around at the eager suicide bombers who seemed ready to rush up for autographs at any moment, and felt that if he didn’t leave soon, he would be entangled by this group of fanatical mortals. “Let’s hurry to the command post. The war is the priority.”
“I’m going to the front lines to see what’s going on with those plants that Tyrande created,” said Sage Wick, his mechanical eyes gleaming with inquiry.
“I’ll go with you,” Judge Koptman immediately replied. He also harbored great vigilance and research interest in the ecology of the Xenomorphs.
So the group split into two.
After some time, Company Commander Agman finally rushed back from the front lines. His blue power armor was still stained with large patches of purple and green Tyrannical blood and bodily fluids. However, the people here were not pampered; for them, having bloodstains was as normal as getting wet after walking into a house in the rain.
"Warband Commander!" Upon seeing Karga, Agman immediately stepped forward and greeted him with a standard power punch to the chest.
“Agarman, you’ve come at the right time,” Calgar gestured for Agarman to come over. “Sage Wick just sent a message saying that he has made preliminary progress in his research on the plants that Tyren created, and he will be here soon… Ah, here we are.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the heavy gates of the command center opened again, and Sage Wick and Judge Koptman walked in.
"Gentlemen," Sage Wick said without any pleasantries, getting straight to the point, "our initial findings are not optimistic. Those plants are undoubtedly part of the Tyranid life. But compared to the Tyranids we encountered before who only knew how to plunder and devour, these things... after destroying the native ecosystem of Plantim, have rebuilt a completely new ecosystem on the ruins."
He paused, his tone growing more somber: "Clearly, they intend to mold Plantim into a vibrant planet, but one only suitable for the Tyranids. I must commend the martyrs for their brilliant idea of spreading poison gas throughout the planet's atmosphere; it has greatly slowed the development of the Tyranid ecosystem."
“Even so,” Koptman continued, adding coldly, “given the terrifying adaptability and evolutionary speed of the Tyranids, I dare say that the entire Plantim, apart from the few strongholds controlled by us humans, has probably become their paradise.”
This situation clearly contradicted everyone's previous understanding of the characteristics of the Tyranids. All eyes turned to the two men standing together, ready to die—more precisely, to Ruan Wenbo. After all, all of Ruan Wenbo's previous guesses about the Tyranids had come true.
For the two Ultra Warriors, Calgar and Agman, this trust was further amplified, as it was also backed by the advice of the think tank director, Diggris.
Under everyone's gaze, Ruan Wenbo pondered for a moment before slowly speaking: "I have a conjecture, just a conjecture... The Tyranids' desire for the Primarch's flesh and blood may far exceed our expectations."
He continued, "In fact, what the Tyranids are doing so far does not violate their most fundamental behavioral logic—that is, the pursuit of the Primarch's flesh and blood."
"Yes, they are doomed to lose this orbital battle. This Terran fleet has no chance of advancing further into the heart of Alteramar. But who said that the Terrans can only afford to lose a single biological fleet?"
Upon hearing this, everyone present (if they had any) changed their expressions.
Calga's voice deepened: "You mean, it's not over yet?"
“Yes,” Ruan Wenbo affirmed, “As aliens from outside the Milky Way, the Tyranids possess a military force far exceeding our imagination. This hive fleet before us is most likely not even their true vanguard, but at best a reconnaissance force. If we don't view this battle as an independent war, but rather as a battle within a much larger war, then the Tyranids' actions become clear—in their view, they haven't completely failed yet! “Plantim, as the gateway to the Alteramar sector, is not something the Tyranids would easily abandon now that they have successfully established a military presence here. They intend to completely transform Plantim—or at least a part of it—into their forward position for invading our homeland!”
Calga pondered these words silently, and finally nodded: "Logically, it makes sense; I can't find any fault with it."
Ruan Wenbo turned to look at Wick: "In fact, as the first person to propose the idea that 'the Tyranids are coming for the Primarchs,' Sage Wick should have been able to think of this as well."
Wick Sage's mechanical mask revealed no expression, but his mind was in turmoil: Could it be? I only made that point to scare the Ultramarines into bringing in more help. Could it be that I just stumbled upon it by sheer luck? Tyrion… is really after Guilliman?
“Governor Nguyen Van Bo,” Wick said in a calm, electronic voice, forcing down his inner shock, “now that you have such a clear understanding of Tyrell’s strategy, do you have a way to deal with it?”
“Of course,” Ruan Wenbo said confidently. “First and foremost, we must completely wipe out all the Tyranids on Plantim, no matter what.”
Calgar immediately expressed his support: "Yes, even if this guess is partially wrong, we absolutely cannot allow Tyrion to continue defecating anywhere in the world of Alteramar 500. Prandim must be purified."
"As for how to clean it up," Nguyen Van Bo held up his finger, "I have three strategies: the best, the middle, and the worst."
This statement immediately piqued everyone's interest. The Imperials were all intrigued, eager to hear what the three strategies were. Only EGO, standing to the side, inwardly grumbled: "Three strategies? Upper, middle, and lower? Where did this come from? I'm in Warhammer 40, not on a Three Kingdoms set!"
“The worst option is simple,” Ruan Wenbo said. “We have orbital control anyway. We can evacuate everyone from Plantim immediately, then have the navy carry out a saturation orbital bombardment, or simply drop a few Cyclone torpedoes on the surface, and the problem will be solved.”
Upon hearing this, even Judge Keptman shook his head and commented, "Truly a poor choice."
Calgar also categorically rejected the idea: "The Ultramarines would never issue an extermination order against any of the five hundred worlds of Ultramar. It is absolutely politically impossible."
“Then the next step is the middle strategy,” Ruan Wenbo continued. “We need to develop a detailed battle plan and logistical support, and have the hundreds of thousands of Space Marines in orbit descend to the surface in batches to fight, gradually clearing out the entire Plantim in conventional ways. As long as we have enough patience, we can always succeed. The only drawback is time, and that’s exactly what we lack most right now…”
“Yes,” Agman said in a deep voice, “no one knows when the next wave of Tyranid reinforcements will arrive. The purification of Plantim must be carried out as soon as possible.”
Calga offered no comment, but simply looked at Ruan Wenbo and said, "Tell me your best strategy."
Nguyen Van Bo took a deep breath and delivered a proposal that would shock everyone present:
"We will reunite the hundreds of thousands of Space Marines in orbit with the millions of Deathbringers on the surface. The Space Marines will no longer fight individually as chapters, but will serve as the spearhead and dagger of the entire legion; the Deathbringers will serve as support forces, responsible for flanks, logistics, and defense. We must concentrate all our forces to execute a large-scale combined arms operation! While this may lack the tactical flexibility of a chapter-based model with units of a thousand, this campaign does not require a nimble dagger. The Tyranids have no fatal blows; we must use a heavy warhammer to smash them to pieces!"
After Ruan Wenbo finished speaking, the entire command post was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
After an unknown amount of time, Judge Koptman took a deep breath and said in a dry voice, "The High Lords... will go mad."
Calgar's expression was unpredictable, his true feelings unclear. Finally, he said in an extremely serious tone, "This... is a serious violation of the Astartes Codex!"
Calga was being too lenient. Ruan Wenbo's "best policy" was far from a "serious violation"; if it were actually implemented, it would be tantamount to treating the Astartes, written by Primarch Guilliman and revered as gospel for ten thousand years, as toilet paper.
Ruan Wenbo knew when to stop, so after he finished speaking, he shut his mouth and waited quietly for the verdict.
In the end, it was Calgar who said, "We cannot easily formulate a strategy for dealing with the Tyranids, which are aliens not recorded in the Astartes Codex. We need to discuss it further."
After speaking, Calgar paused, as if convincing himself or emphasizing his position, and added, "But in any case, we cannot go against the Holy Scripture. It has guided us for ten thousand years and has been proven countless times to be an irrefutable truth."
