Mystery: The Last Shepherd
Chapter 4 I Don’t Want to Know
Chapter 4 I Don’t Want to Know
A strange little ball mixed with blood and pitch-black liquid was forcibly stuffed into Luze's mouth by Sirius, who had come back from the dead.
Thick, foul-smelling, cold, and slippery. The small ball immediately turned into a liquid upon entering the mouth, wriggling rapidly like a living thing, and burrowed deep into the stomach.
"Well!"
Lu Ze's eyes widened.
He didn't know where the strength came from, but he pushed away the motionless Sirius, then knelt on the ground and began to frantically dig his throat with his fingers.
Whatever that old guy fed me, it definitely wasn't anything good!
"Cough cough! Come out! Cough cough!"
But no matter how hard Lu Ze tried to vomit, he couldn't expel the icy feeling; instead, it exploded in his stomach. It broke through the stomach wall and spread and eroded his limbs and bones, until every cell in his body was filled with its influence.
Lu Ze's limbs began to twitch uncontrollably, and the world before him gradually darkened. Countless rustling whispers rose around him, like countless malicious eyes opening in the darkness, peering at and coveting his flesh and blood.
In the deepest, darkest distance, a being was watching Luze.
It's a giant, the one hanging upside down!
A series of depraved and insane murmurs followed, startling the other prying eyes, who immediately withdrew, leaving him and the giant staring at each other in the endless darkness.
"what!"
Lu Ze's forehead veins suddenly bulged. Pain, and something beyond pain, something that didn't originally belong to him, was poured into his brain. He felt something, he knew something!
"I don't want to know, I don't want to know!"
He screamed, but those things kept flooding into his mind, distorting his perception and pulling him deeper and further into darkness.
Depravity, darkness?
No, it is that being, He is right, but He is insane!
Upside down?
No, the world has turned upside down!
The murmurs echoed incessantly, and Lu Ze felt his consciousness dissolving, as if he were about to completely melt into the darkness and become a part of that giant.
Just then, he heard the illusory sound of the tide once again.
Immediately, a phantom-like, damp sensation came from the soles of his feet and quickly spread throughout his body. It was as if an ocean had suddenly appeared in the unseen darkness, with surging waves crashing against him.
Luze's body was quickly submerged. He didn't feel the pain of suffocation; instead, the seawater blocked the giant's vision and the lingering mutterings. He felt safe, and the spreading "influence" within him subsided, obediently merging into every cell of his body.
The darkness dissipated, and Luze found his consciousness floating in the air above the room. His body lay on the floor, and Cecilia was anxiously shaking him, calling out something.
"Lu Ze! Lu Ze!"
Lu Ze heard his sister calling his name, and his consciousness suddenly sank back into his body.
"Well!"
He suddenly woke up with a start.
"Lu Ze, you're finally awake! Are you alright?"
Cecilia asked with concern.
"I am fine."
Lu Ze sat up, shook his head, and patted his sister's shoulder to calm her down.
Looking around, she saw two dumbfounded policemen standing behind her sister. They stared at Sirius, his body covered in tumors and tattered, their expressions a mixture of utter disbelief and utter astonishment.
"You...you're not allowed to leave here!"
The older sheriff nervously gave orders, assigning tasks to his subordinates. A junior officer with a distressed expression stayed behind, while he himself hurriedly left.
Lu Ze took a deep breath and stood up with his sister's help.
His head still throbbed, as if gripped tightly by a powerful hand; his ears rang incessantly, accompanied by whispers. His vision was also strange, the colors vivid yet overlapping. He saw the young policeman's face as pale as a corpse, his uniform as black as coal; he saw his sister's eyes, like a lake's azure, shimmering with a captivating light. He also saw Sirius's corpse emanating an ominous black aura, each tumor sprouting a bloody mouth, brazenly praying something.
What the hell!
Lu Ze was startled, but when he looked up, he saw that his sister and the young policeman were not reacting to the abnormality of the corpse, so he knew that the problem was with him.
What's wrong with me?
Could it be because I ate that thing earlier?
Lu Ze closed his eyes, shook his head, and tried to calm himself down. When he opened his eyes again, things were much more normal, but there were still faint sounds and strange, distorted lines lurking in the dark corners of the room, which he could only ignore for the time being.
Cecilia looked at Luze uneasily, after all, the room wasn't like this before she left.
what happened?
She asked with her eyes.
Lu Ze raised his chin and pointed at the policeman, meaning to say it later and not let that guy hear.
Cecilia immediately understood and nodded slightly.
The three people in the room remained silent in the strange atmosphere. The young policeman glanced at the corpse and then at the brother and sister, appearing uneasy. The brother and sister exchanged glances frequently, seemingly in perfect sync.
By the way, where's that letter?
Suddenly, Luze remembered the letter Sirius had written. It was because he was reading the letter that he had been careless and attacked, but he couldn't find the papers anywhere on the ground. It wasn't until his gaze fell on the altar that he saw the ashes of the overturned cauldron smoking, with a charred corner of the letter remaining inside.
When I was hit, I drifted into the ashes.
Lu Ze thought to himself, "What a coincidence."
Just then, the sound of a carriage stopping came from outside the house, followed shortly by the sound of hurried footsteps. The old sheriff led in three new faces; they were also policemen, and looked relatively young, but they had more stars on their epaulets than the other two.
After bringing the person to justice, the old sheriff pulled his men away, leaving the scene to the three men.
Of the three police officers, the leader was a man around thirty years old with deep, silver-gray eyes. After scanning the room, his gaze settled on Lu Ze's face.
“Mr. Luzer Rondor and Ms. Cecilia Rondor, is that right?”
he asked gently.
"Yes."
Lu Ze and his sister exchanged a glance, then Lu Ze spoke to the other person.
“Okay, then Mr. Luze and Ms. Cecilia, please tell me what happened here.”
"That's what the officer with the gray eyes said."
Luze then began to recount the brother and sister's experiences, from his own illness and the accidental death of their parents, to being invited to Sirius's home, to being tied up and sacrificed, to seizing the opportunity to subdue Sirius, but because the latter began to mutate, he had no choice but to shoot and kill him in order to protect himself.
He concealed the fact that his heart had been repaired after his resurrection, the contents of the letter, and that he had been forced to eat the black orb. He only said that he had been knocked unconscious and, upon waking, attacked Sirius.
The gray-eyed officer listened quietly to his account without offering any opinion. His two subordinates began their investigation on their own. One officer, with green eyes, examined the corpse and circled the blood-soaked altar, making clicking noises. The other officer, with brown eyes, pulled a citrine pendant from his sleeve, muttering incantations while closing his eyes.
A moment later, he opened his eyes, looked at the pendant, walked over to the gray-eyed officer, and whispered something to him.
Lu Ze noticed that the gray-eyed officer's gaze immediately became even more profound.
“Mr. Lu Ze, let’s find a room and have a good talk.”
He said to Luze.
