Mystery: The Last Shepherd

Chapter 268 The Dark Saint

Chapter 268 The Dark Saint

Lu Ze's decision not to kill Mr. A immediately was correct, because there was still a lot of valuable information hidden in the guy's mind.

"How's it going? Did you find it?"

Lu Ze asked.

"No."

M used her slender, white fingers to stir back and forth in Mr. A's head, and after searching through his memories, she shook her head, her tone slightly regretful, "Sequence 4 is considered a high-ranking member of the Aurora Society, and related information is kept secret from him."

"Pity."

Lu Ze sighed.

This reduces one of the ways to obtain potion recipes.

"Should we search for any other intelligence?"

M continued to ask.

"Check out the Aurora Society's organizational structure in Backlund, its members, and their meeting places."

Lu Ze said, his calm voice concealing a rising murderous intent.

"Uh-huh."

As if sensing the malice in Lu Ze's tone, Mr. A struggled to make a sound, and his eyes regained some clarity.

He seemed to want to resist, but soon, M's other hand touched his forehead, gently but undeniably altering his will. His eyes became dazed, allowing the other to dig into his brain and explore its secrets.

"found it."

M said, "The Aurora Society's membership list in Backlund, along with the addresses of its secret strongholds, includes the vast majority of ordinary believers. The extraordinary ones are mostly cryptic inquirers and listeners, with only a small number of hermits and a handful of Rose Bishops."

"Not only that, but it seems that quite a few people died because of their previous conflict with the Church of Goddess."

she continued.

"Is this all the manpower you have?"

Lu Ze couldn't help but chuckle, saying to Mr. A's head, "What a useless organization."

If Mr. A were sober, he would definitely refute these words. As an extraordinary organization that has been ostracized by all sides, it is already quite remarkable that it has developed to this extent.

"Wait a moment,"

M suddenly realized something: "In the Aurora Society in Backlund, there is also a saint."

"Saint?"

Lu Ze frowned.

According to the Night Watchers' internal records, the Aurora Society has a total of five Saints and twenty-two Divine Messengers. In a metropolis like Backlund, having a Saint in charge is perfectly reasonable.

However, the gap between Sequence 4 and Sequence 5 is too great. He certainly cannot defeat a Saint now, and the other party will be a major obstacle to his elimination of the Aurora Society's forces.

To put it even more bluntly, if news of his killing of Mr. A gets out, this saint might come after him.

"The Dark Saint, Kesma. Sequence 4 of the Mystic Path."

M explained, "But he recently left Backlund; it seems he went to sea."

It's not in Backlund.

Lu Ze thought to himself.

Although he didn't know why the saint had left Backlund, he had to speed things up and completely eliminate the Aurora Society's influence before the saint returned.

"Is there any other important intelligence?"

Lu Ze asked.

"The Aurora Society seems to have a cooperative relationship with the Witch Cult. I saw a witch who appears to be Sequence 4 in his memories."

What are they planning to do together?

Lu Ze frowned. Another Sequence 4.
"This part of the memory is locked; forcibly digging it out might cause trouble."

"Then let's forget about it for now."

Lu Ze said.

Upon hearing this, M promptly withdrew his finger from Mr. A's head, and his figure vanished.

"The Lord will punish you, and you will regret it."

Mr. A's eyes were unfocused, but he was still stubbornly talking.

Lu Ze ignored him, grabbed his hair, and stuffed his head back into his stomach.

After doing all that, he looked up.

It was night, and the sky was completely dark. The bedroom was dark, with no lights on. He stood silently in the darkness for a long time before slowly turning around and lying down on the bed. He didn't wash up or eat dinner; he simply closed his eyes.

No one cares whether I eat or not anymore, so I no longer need to pretend to be a normal person.

That's all for today. I need to rest and recharge. Tomorrow I'll pack my things, move out of here, and after I'm settled, I'll go deal with those bastards from the Aurora Society.
Lu Ze closed his eyes, pondering what he needed to do next.

Only by constantly generating ideas in his mind and continuously thinking forward could he avoid being overwhelmed by those surging emotions of sadness.

"Meow."

The bed beside him dipped slightly, and the little black cat jumped on top of him, meowing at him.

Lu Ze didn't open his eyes, but instead hugged it close to his body. The little guy was warm and purring, becoming his only comfort in this cold and lonely night.
The night passed.

When Emily woke up the next day, she found the two rented rooms upstairs completely empty, with no trace of anyone having lived there. All of the Anderson siblings' belongings had vanished, as if their arrival had been nothing more than a dream.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the eastern district.

Luze, sporting a modified face, walked down the street carrying only a travel suitcase. Although the suitcase looked cheap, it actually contained various materials, potions, and extraordinary items, with a total value exceeding ten thousand pounds.

After leaving 8 Housetin Street, he needed to find a new place to live.

For the sake of my role, it's best to stay in the East District; I have many secrets, so I can't share an apartment with others, though the price doesn't matter.
As he was thinking, he walked up to a detached building.

The building's windows were all covered by curtains, and outside stood a number of burly, idling men, chatting and arguing. Passersby didn't dare to look over; they simply lowered their heads and quickened their pace.

—The headquarters of the Lehman Brothers.

Lu Ze ignored the gangsters standing at the door and strode inside. They seemed completely oblivious to him, continuing their conversation. He crossed the lobby, went up to the second floor, and walked straight to the leader's office, pushing the door open and entering.

"Who?"

Upon hearing the door open in the office, Charles, the current leader of the Lehman Gang, looked up in surprise.

"Ciel, it's been a long time."

Lu Ze revealed himself and spoke to him.

"That voice... Mr. Anderson!"

Charles's face stiffened for a moment, then quickly broke into a welcoming expression. "It's been a long time since you've come!"

Ha, you weren't expecting me to come, were you?

Lu Ze thought to himself.

His relationship with this gang was entirely based on mutual exploitation. He had previously asked them to investigate human trafficking, expecting it to attract the attention of relevant authorities and lead to the gang's downfall. However, he unexpectedly stumbled into Kapin's mansion and discovered the clues ahead of time.

"I'm here today because I need your help with something."

He said.
