Doomsday America

Chapter 168 Ants Moving

Chapter 168 Ants Moving
After agreeing on a location with Lao Feng, Gavin pointed to the end of the zombie horde in the distance and spoke to Martin and Anthony beside him.

"Guys, we're going to take a risk. Let's hurry and meet up with Lao Feng, then head home!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin spurred his horse and rode off. The two men quickly followed, galloping towards the pasture at the edge of the farm.

Gavin was familiar enough with his farm to be fairly certain that he wouldn't get the general direction of the border wrong.

As they rode away on horseback, they headed towards the manor.

Cao Xinyan and Hela's positions were located at the sentry post near the west terrace.

Hearing the voice coming from the walkie-talkie, Hela was slightly taken aback, then looked at Cao Xinyan without making a sound.

Cao Xinyan didn't know what had happened. She only felt that the voice on the walkie-talkie was very noisy, which made her even more worried about her husband.

Seeing that Xiao Cao couldn't understand the crisis the farm was facing, and the crisis that Lao Feng and his group were facing, Haila breathed a sigh of relief, then shook her head and looked at the distant grassland.

What William said on the walkie-talkie made her somewhat wary, but also amused her.

Before any zombies were even seen, some people already felt they could smell them.

Is a nose really that sensitive?
If it's really that effective, then where is the smell coming from, and where is the wind coming from...? Wait a minute!
Just as Hela was thinking this, a gentle breeze suddenly blew across her face, causing her hair to flow naturally backward.

Feeling the cold wind blowing in her face, Hela frowned, then took out her binoculars and began to observe more carefully.

The wind was blowing in her direction, so if there was a zombie smell, that smell would most likely be blown over by the wind!
Therefore, if there really is a horde of zombies approaching the manor, then the zombies are very likely in her direction!
With that thought in mind, Hela looked as far into the distance as possible.

But just as she was still observing, a voice suddenly came from the walkie-talkie.

"Damn it, this is terrible! This is Horst, fuck! I saw so many zombies, so many, right west of the farm! Should we run?!"

"Screw you running! The west side of the farm, huh? Let me take a look!"

Upon hearing Horst's words, Eugene cursed into the walkie-talkie.

Meanwhile, at the sentry post directly in front of the manor, William, whose legs were slightly better, patted Madison heavily on the shoulder, then left his position and walked towards the sentry post assigned to Horst.

On the other hand, on the grasslands.

Gavin spurred his horse forward and shouted into his walkie-talkie.

"Host, how big is the horde of corpses you saw, and how far away are they from the manor!"

"I don't know, I don't know, boss. I only know that their line is very long. I can only see the front of the line, not the back!"

Horst gave a hasty reply, only to be kicked away by Adriana beside him.

Adriana took the binoculars and glanced in Horst's direction. Immediately, the veins on her hands gripping the binoculars bulged.

"Boss, it's me, Adriana. I'm on the same outpost as Horst!"

"Listen to me, boss, that zombie horde is really huge, at least several thousand, maybe even tens of thousands, because their horde stretches for over six hundred meters and we still can't see the end!"

"However, they are not particularly close to us, at least 2.5 kilometers away, at least that's how it appears to me."

"Moreover, the zombies aren't coming towards us at all; they're just passing by. Their target definitely looks like Richard Town!"

At this point, Adriana lowered her binoculars, turning her gaze away from the vast horde of zombies.

After catching her breath, she pointed at Horst and muttered a curse under her breath.

"Damn it, all your courage training went to waste!"

"Sorry, I was too nervous. You're right, they're very far away from us, extremely far away!"

Horst tried his best to suppress his trembling desire and responded softly to Adriana.

Meanwhile, on the grasslands...

Gavin breathed a slight sigh of relief upon hearing Adriana's assessment.

"I understand. It seems the manor won't become a target of the zombie horde anytime soon."

Gavin spoke into the walkie-talkie.

"Thomas, take some men and move all the dogs to the basement to avoid their barking attracting zombies. Everyone else, don't stand on the balcony. Go back inside the house to observe the zombie horde and avoid increasing the chances of being discovered by the zombies!"

"Eugene, go check the west, confirm the situation, and then continue to report the zombie horde's movements to me!"

"I've already seen Feng. If nothing unexpected happens, we'll be back soon!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin fastened the walkie-talkie to his belt and then spurred his horse to a stop.

Nearly 800 meters away, Old Feng and Kelvin were speeding towards him; there was no need for him to waste his horsepower to meet them.

As Martin and Anthony stopped with Gavin, they took out their binoculars and began to survey their surroundings.

The small horde of zombies nearby was still running wildly, which gave them enough space to move around, and at least meeting up with Lao Feng didn't seem dangerous.

After confirming the situation, Lao Feng and his companion rushed to Gavin's side shortly afterward.

Seeing Gavin riding on horseback, Kelvin, who had been extremely nervous just moments before, immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

"Boss, I'm so glad to finally see you! This afternoon's patrol was so exciting! I'm definitely going to go fishing for a while in a few days to make up for it!"

Kelvin spoke to Gavin, who turned his horse around and nodded with a light laugh.

"Of course we can, but that's only after we get back to the manor and get through this mess safely today. Let's go, let's hurry!"

"Ok!"

Everyone nodded in unison, and the sound of hooves immediately rang out. The five cavalrymen formed an arrowhead shape and charged back towards the manor.

At this moment, Thomas had already led the barking dogs into the basement of the manor.

Eugene stood beside Adriana, staring blankly at the distant horde of corpses through binoculars for a while.

After a brief moment of stunned silence, Eugene picked up the walkie-talkie, pondered for a moment, and spoke to Gavin.

"Boss, this is Eugene. I saw the horde of zombies that Horst mentioned. They're so far away, at least 2.8 kilometers away. Even I would have had a hard time spotting such a distant target without Horst's guidance!"

At this point, Eugene couldn't help but look at Horst.

He really didn't expect that this coward would have such good eyesight!
What does 2.8 kilometers mean?
Even a supersonic bullet takes nine to ten seconds to travel.

Without a telescope with sufficient magnification, the human eye can't even see a large tree at that distance, let alone a human figure that's much smaller than an ant in the lens!

Thinking of this, Eugene glanced at Horst's telescope. It wasn't a high-powered telescope full of cutting-edge technology; it was just an ordinary telescope.

Damn it, this coward actually has a tiny bit of potential to be a sniper...

Eugene suddenly felt a little nauseous.

Is Horst such a coward that he put all his skill points into vision control?
Meeting Eugene's gaze, Horst swallowed hard.

Although he didn't like Eugene, a fellow traveler, Horst respected Eugene, a capable fighter, more and more, especially in dangerous situations.

After a brief moment of thought, Horst gave Eugene a forced smile, while Eugene scoffed and waited for a reply on the walkie-talkie.

After a while...

The clattering of horses' hooves came through the walkie-talkie.

Gavin's voice, along with the sound of the wind, reached Eugene's ears.

"Two and a half kilometers is a safe distance. If nothing unexpected happens, no matter how large the zombie horde is, they won't be able to notice our manor."

"However, the manor is 2.8 kilometers to the west. Isn't that close to our stables?"

"If the zombies continue on their course, will they run into the stables, leaving some of them inside?"

At this point, Gavin couldn't help but swallow.

Upon hearing his words, the men in the house, including Eugene, couldn't help but swallow hard!
Eugene suddenly picked up his binoculars, looked towards the stables, and then glanced at the direction the zombie horde was heading.

After confirming it several times, Eugene swallowed hard and then responded to Gavin.

"Boss, you're right, the stables are right on the zombie horde's path!"

"Judging from the speed of the zombie horde, it will be in the stable in three minutes at most."

"Wait, boss, are there still people in the stable? Should I try to get the cult members locked up in the stable out?"

"What?!!"

Upon hearing Eugene's words, Gavin, who was galloping on horseback, stared wide-eyed in disbelief.

He then immediately grabbed the walkie-talkie and shouted at Eugene.

"Demons and monsters, get out! Damn angels, get out of Eugene's body! Are you still the Eugene I know? Why are you saying such stupid things? Why should we risk our lives for a damn cultist!"

"Aha, boss, that's perfect! I don't want to save that trash. I'm just worried you'll do something stupid again!"

Eugene immediately replied to Gavin, then continued looking at the stables.

Meanwhile, in the stables...

José, with the scars from the Olympic flame on his face, sat weeping on his sticky pants, staring blankly at the zombies in the distance.

"I pooped in my pants..."

He repeated the sentence, his face pale.

"I really pooped in my pants..."

As he spoke, he suppressed his nausea and moved his buttocks slightly.

He pooped in his pants and then sat on the poop.

This feeling is simply indescribable!
If José hadn't undergone the training of the Church of God and experienced the painful process of having his sacred fire scars etched on him...

He felt he absolutely couldn't survive his current life.

I haven't eaten for two days, and I haven't drunk water for two days either.

Even though he was tied up here, he couldn't help but feel it was such a waste to see himself wet his pants.

Why couldn't he just pee in his own mouth? At least that would quench his thirst. Sigh...

That said, what does urine taste like?

Is it a bit salty, like salt water?
Thinking of this, José couldn't help but lick his extremely dry lips.

Then, suppressing his nausea, he moved his buttocks a little more.

Suddenly, José burst out laughing.

He suddenly realized that although it was disgusting to have pooped in his pants.

But the poop under his buttocks was actually a little warm, and the sticky feeling made him feel slightly better as he sat on his stiff and painful buttocks.

"Damn, I'm pretty good at finding joy in hardship."

Jose muttered something to himself, then shook his head with amusement.

"Fuck you!"

Jose suddenly cursed again, then groaned weakly.

"I just want this damn world to die already! Damn it, I'm tired, really tired!"

"Help! Can someone save me? I'm going crazy! I really want to go to a mental hospital! A mental hospital!"

"Damn it, who am I talking to? Nobody can hear me. I'm fucking tied up in the apocalypse, living with a zombie. Screw it, I... huh? What's that sound?"

Just as Jose was passing the time by talking to himself, just like he had for the past two days.

He suddenly felt like he heard a sound.
That voice sounded so familiar; Jose felt like he'd heard it somewhere before. "That's... such a familiar feeling, haha, am I dreaming? I'm actually dreaming about those old parade days?!"

“Back then, we all gathered together, and everyone had sect paint and patterns on their faces, but only true sect brothers could have the sacred fire emblem tattooed on their faces!”

"Damn it, I was one of only eighty-two brothers in the sect back then. I could have become an angel. I even led a parade with more than two thousand members!"

"Bullshit America! Everyone looks down on me. Only the Pope can see my abilities. Only by believing in the Holy Flame can I avoid discrimination. Only by believing in the Holy Flame can I find peace. Only by believing in the Holy Flame can I... Hmm? The voice is getting louder. Am I just imagining things?"

When he got to this point, José finally couldn't help but stop.

Because the footsteps he could hear were becoming clearer and clearer!

The sound was far more intense than the march!
Jose has participated in marches with at least two or three thousand people, but the current marches are even more numerous and chaotic than two or three thousand.
Once he was absolutely certain that the footsteps were real and getting closer, Jose went completely numb. He quickly shut his mouth, his eyes wide with terror, and looked at the zombie that had suddenly raised its head in the distance!
José isn't stupid, nor is he truly mentally ill.

What could be a group of footsteps, numbering at least several thousand or tens of thousands, that could appear in the apocalypse?
It could never be a living person!

Even a fool could tell what was about to happen to José!
At that moment, in his eyes, the zombie with severed arms and legs suddenly began to struggle violently, opening its mouth and roaring as it struggled.

"Roar!!!"

"Holy crap, please don't yell, bro, I'm begging you, please don't yell!"

The zombie's sudden roar startled José.

He quickly shouted at the zombies.

"I'm fucking begging you, please stop yelling! If you just stay quiet, I'll cut off my ass and feed it to you tomorrow! Stop yelling, stop fucking yelling!"

"Bullshit, if your ass isn't good enough, I'll give you my right hand to eat, okay? Anyway, I always masturbate with my left hand!"

"Stop yelling, waaaaah... Fuck, stop yelling..."

Boom! ! !
Suddenly, a crashing sound came from the back wall of the stable where José was.

The voice abruptly interrupted Jose, causing him to shut his mouth in terror and stare in the direction from which the sound came, his heart pounding wildly.

"Hiss... Roar...!"

In the distance, the zombies continued their persistent howling.

As for José...

He was completely numb...

He looked up helplessly at the pitch-black ceiling, seemingly lost in thought.

"Hiss... Roar..."

The zombies were still howling.

Boom boom boom! ! !
More crashing sounds came from the wall near the zombies.

Sweat instantly soaked José's back. Even after two days of dehydration, his body was putting its last bit of potential into sweating.

Thump thump thump thump! ! !
Suddenly, the banging on the wall became more and more urgent and frequent, causing the entire stable to tremble slightly with each impact.

"Fake!"

At that moment, José cursed helplessly, then turned to look at the gate.

He struggled desperately, staring at the direction of the gate!
"Bullshit, I don't want to die! I've already survived! Even God can't take me away, fuck!!!"

While struggling, José screamed wildly, venting his inner fear.

As for quiet...

He had been quiet for a while, but the zombies with him wouldn't be quiet!
If he can only keep his mouth shut until he dies, what's the point of him living?
Boom!
Suddenly, a banging sound came from the direction of the gate.

"Go to hell! Come on, kill me! I don't want to live anymore, kill me!!!"

Seeing the door swaying, José cursed loudly and then struggled with all his might.

Unfortunately, his struggles were completely futile against the sturdy ropes.

Boom boom boom!
Stab! Stab!

The sounds of impact increased, accompanied by a constant scratching noise.

In the darkness, José's hair stood on end, and his eyes involuntarily darted around.

Everywhere he looked, there were sounds that made him tremble, and the entire stable was shaking more and more violently, as if it were about to collapse at any moment.

"Fake!!!"

Jose was speechless; he could only curse and struggle until…

Wow! ! !

The stable doors are finally open!
At that moment, the sunlight shone on José's face, causing him to squint uncontrollably.

The light was extremely dazzling, looking like holy light.

"Fuck you, Gavin, I curse you to follow in my footsteps..."

Facing the light that obscured his surroundings, José raised his head and said one last thing. Then he felt himself being pounced on by more than one person, and his thigh, shoulder, and face were all bitten!
"Ahhhh!!!"

The pain came and went quickly; Jose's final scream lasted only a few seconds before disappearing.

Meanwhile, in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows on the west side of the manor.

Eugene and the others held binoculars, looking at the stables that were completely overrun by zombies, and then put the binoculars down.

Eugene sighed and then prayed softly.

"God help me, I hope there aren't too many zombies left in the stables..."

At this point, Eugene suddenly remembered something, so he quickly looked at Father Hogan.

"Father, would it be more effective if I held your shoulders and prayed?"

He suddenly spoke to the priest.

Faced with Eugene's comical question, the priest paused for a moment, then shook his head and replied.

“I’m just a pastor. I’m just someone who teaches you to understand the Lord. My identity is not sacred. Touching me will not bring you closer to the Lord.”

"Really? That's quite disappointing. If touching you could send me to heaven, I bet a lot of people would want to give you a blowjob~"

Eugene laughed and joked, then took out a walkie-talkie and spoke to Gavin.

"Boss, this is Eugene. A large horde of zombies on the west side of the manor has crashed into the stables. I watched as they broke through the stables where we were holding the zombies and cultists!"

"The good news is that they didn't trample each other near the stables, so we probably don't need to face new aggregates."

"The bad news is that I'm pretty sure there will be a bunch of zombies left in the stables, because I've already seen some of them trip over the fence and then just stand there motionless..."

At this point, Eugene took a melancholy breath.

He wanted to curse, because they had just dealt with a hidden danger fifty kilometers away, and then a new hidden danger appeared less than three kilometers away!

This new hidden danger is far more dangerous than the one fifty kilometers away!

But with the swear words on the tip of his tongue, Eugene didn't know who to curse at.

Insulting a priest?
Although he disrespected the priest, he wasn't so crazy as to curse the priest for no reason.

So, should we insult Adriana?

Stop messing around, this woman could crush his basket in a fit of anger!

Then Eugene suddenly turned to Horst and began to curse at him.

"You fucking need to exercise, you piece of shit! Having such good eyesight and not using it is like carrying Durex and making your woman take birth control pills—such a waste!"

"what?"

Horst was completely stunned by Eugene's scolding.

While he was completely bewildered, Gavin's voice came through the walkie-talkie.

"Roger that. I should be able to get to the manor in about five minutes. Are you sure the horde of zombies near the stables won't block our way home?"

"I'm sure, boss. This is Madison. I'm keeping an eye on other areas of the manor, and I haven't seen any other hordes of zombies yet!"

Madison immediately confirmed the call through the intercom, while Gavin put down the intercom and continued running.

And just when he was about four minutes away from getting home.

In the distance, towards the border of the farm.

On a civilian transport helicopter flying toward the farm.

Sean and Steve's walkie-talkie suddenly rang.

"Flight crew, this is Winnie. The boss has orders for you. Please respond!"

"what?"

Upon hearing the walkie-talkie, Steve was genuinely taken aback. He exchanged glances with the other three before picking up the walkie-talkie and replying.

“Winnie, this is Steve. I’m on Sean’s plane. We’ll be home soon. What’s up, boss?”

"Oh my god, I've finally made contact with you!"

Upon receiving Steve's response, Winnie jumped up excitedly and then quickly explained to Steve.

"I've been calling you over the walkie-talkie for over ten minutes now, I didn't expect you to come back so quickly, that's great!"

"As for the boss's orders, let him tell you!"

As soon as she finished speaking, Winnie cleared the walkie-talkie line.

A moment later, Gavin took out a walkie-talkie and spoke.

“Yes, let me just tell you directly, Steve, Sean.”

"Just recently, several hordes of zombies broke into the farm, ranging in number from hundreds to tens of thousands. The closest horde was less than three kilometers away from our manor!"

"Therefore, your helicopters should not fly directly back to the rooftops of the manor, lest they attract a large number of zombies!"

"Steve, you and your team park the plane at the airport on the eastern edge of the resort or farm, then figure out a way to drive or ride back!"

"Roger that!"

Upon hearing Gavin's words, Steve quickly nodded, then opened the cabin door and looked down at the plane.

During their return journey, they were always at an altitude of 2.5 kilometers or higher in the sky and hardly looked down at the ground, so they didn't notice any unusual activity from the zombies.

At that moment, upon Gavin's message, Sean immediately ordered the helicopter to descend, while Steve took a look through his binoculars.

Steve got goosebumps at just one glance.

He quickly pulled out his walkie-talkie and shouted at Gavin.

"Wait, boss, are you sure there are only tens of thousands of zombies? I think I'm seeing a super zombie horde of at least hundreds of thousands!"

"Damn it, I'm currently southeast of the farm, about 33 kilometers from the manor. The horde of zombies I'm seeing is coming from the direction of Athens and is crossing the farm!"

"Their line was so long that it stretched as far as the eye could see. From the plane, it looked like ants moving house!"

"What on earth is going on? Are you all safe, God!"
