Doomsday America
Chapter 152 The Baron's Sunset Team
Chapter 152 The Baron's Sunset Team (10k)
Thinking of this, Gavin looked up at Father Hogan.
Meeting Gavin's gaze, Father Hogan nodded calmly, then chuckled and said to Gavin.
"Lord Gavin, in the apocalypse, even if people's bodies are filled with endless work and food, their hearts will only become emptier."
“If what fills their hearts is not what you expect, then some other evil will eventually take over that area!”
"Therefore, I sincerely suggest that you allow me to preach in the camp. As for the message I preach, it is nothing more than spreading the glory of the Lord."
At this point, Father Hogan looked at Gavin expectantly.
Gavin nodded knowingly.
Clearly, Father Hogan made considerable concessions; he no longer cared what his sermon was.
As long as the Lord is still the Lord, that's fine.
So Gavin spoke softly to Father Hogan.
"What do you intend to do, Father?"
"Of course, we should start by building a church!"
When Gavin asked him the question, Father Hogan immediately recounted all the plans that had crossed his mind before he got lost.
“Lord Gavin, I do not intend to use my words to persuade or force the people in the camp to believe in my Lord.”
"After all, the Lord is omnipotent, but the Lord did not prevent the apocalypse and the appearance of zombies, which will obviously cause resentment in every believer."
"I do not want to promote statements such as God punishing the world, as that is not true, and infants are not necessarily guilty."
"Therefore, I only intend to use my own actions to inspire, influence, and persuade people to believe in my Lord."
"I will use my own hands, just like the missionaries who first set foot on this land, to collect materials brick by brick, grass by grass, and build the first church in the camp by myself."
"As long as I persevere, I believe that my actions will eventually inspire some people, and using this as the beginning of my faith is perhaps the most appropriate thing to do!"
At this point, Father Hogan turned around with a sacred look in his eyes and looked out at the vast meadow.
Gavin Farm had no shortage of space or materials, and Father Hogan was confident he would have no problem.
Seeing that Father Hogan already had a plan, Gavin nodded slightly and made it clear.
"Do as you wish, Father Hogan. As long as your church project doesn't take up extra manpower in the camp, I have no reason to stop you."
"However, if you ever build a church, I hope you can take the time to talk to me more about your doctrines!"
"Of course, sir!"
Father Hogan nodded with pleasure.
Gavin doesn't have a better solution for this at the moment.
He is not an omnipotent god, nor has he ever worked as a priest. He can learn to imitate others and create a personality cult, but he has no experience or ability in religion.
Therefore, it would be better to leave this aspect to Hogan to develop freely. At least Father Hogan's missionary plan would not take up much of the camp's labor force in the early stages, right?
As for what impact Father Hogan and his sect will have on the camp later on.
As far as Gavin is concerned, as long as the sect doesn't play with children, encourage drug use, or force women to have abortions, it won't become a cult.
Then this religion has considerable significance.
At least a normal religion can counteract the intangible influence that cults have on people's hearts!
At this point, Gavin raised his hand and put it on Father Hogan's shoulder, and then he said one last thing to Father Hogan.
"But in any case, Father, you should rest well today, just as God prepares Sundays for us."
“I look forward to the church you will build in the future. Perhaps one day, I will stand in front of the church or in the river you have chosen, and let you baptize me.”
"In America and Texas today, there may not be another priest like you who is qualified to represent a legitimate religion."
"And we, at least we've had a good start, haven't we?"
Just as Gavin finished speaking, the raven Fokkin on his shoulder tilted its head and looked at Hogan along Gavin's arm.
Meeting the raven's lively gaze, Father Hogan paused for a moment, then shook his head helplessly and smiled wryly.
"Lord Gavin, I suddenly have a feeling that perhaps what a post-apocalyptic camp needs most is a Hall of Heroes?"
"Haha, Father, do Protestants also talk about Valhalla?" Gavin asked with a laugh.
"Uh, Lord Gavin, Protestants also have Wi-Fi~"
Father Hogan responded mischievously, then rose, bowed to Gavin, and left his position in the hall.
At this point, Gavin was the only one left in the hall.
He finally let out a sigh of relief, then leaned back comfortably on the sofa and took a few sips of his mint drink.
Things like today are bound to happen frequently in the future, and as the number of people in the camp increases, the number of people who want to talk to him will definitely increase as well!
The difference between Eastern and Western systems lies in this: the inherent class system in the East leads to the habitual deification and elevation of those in positions of power by those in lower positions, making them afraid to communicate directly with those in positions of power, and instead preferring to communicate with those in positions of power through their representatives.
This is why there's the saying "even a seventh-rank official stands before the prime minister's gate."
But in the West, especially in traditional and old-fashioned places like Texas, the way large ranchers managed their farms was not much different from how European nobles managed their territories.
Whenever cowboys and their people encounter trouble, their first thought is always to tell Gavin, their true leader, about their problems and their needs.
This will certainly add a lot of work for Gavin.
But this would also concentrate power in Gavin himself, so does Gavin have the right to be averse to trouble?
How can it be!
With that in mind, Gavin seized the brief break and finished the rest of his drink in one gulp.
He then took out a cigarette, lit it, and sat there comfortably, not thinking about anything, silently watching the smoke gradually rise.
About three minutes later, Nikita came out of the room, armed with guns, and stood next to Gavin.
Her face was slightly flushed, and she stood to Gavin's left, looking a little nervous, hesitating whether she should sit down.
Seeing Nikita standing there in a daze, Gavin reached out and grabbed her wrist, pulling her to his side.
Holding Nikita's paw, Gavin whispered a warning.
“I won’t be going with you this time. I’ll probably be staying home for the next couple of days to deal with the new survivors that keep appearing.”
"When you're out there by yourself, make sure you stay close to Steve. If anything happens, he'll definitely come to your rescue. Of course, you should also provide him with support. None of us deserve to be a burden, darling."
"Damn it, this is no time to talk about these things. I'm just being too concerned. So, have you brushed your teeth?"
When Gavin noticed Nikita's increasingly strange expression, he belatedly chuckled to himself, then took the gun from behind her, lifted her arm, and pressed her against the sofa back to "taste" her.
“Gaga…”
The big crow disliked Nikita's approach, so it hopped onto the table and tentatively sniffed the mint drink.
Meanwhile, on the second floor of the manor, Madison, who was on guard duty, whistled, making Nikita's breathing even more rapid.
thump...
After the other doors on the second floor were opened, Gavin released Nikita, letting the girl bite her lip and savor the moment while hanging the gun on her back.
In the second-floor corridor, Adriana walked down the stairs, smiling as she spoke to Nikita in the hall.
"Tsk tsk, what a lucky chick. Boss, want to try my lips?"
"Believe me, my mouth is definitely more nimble than that pretty girl's; it's a different kind of pleasure, I promise!"
"Hmm, are you free?"
Gavin chuckled and waved to Adriana, who noncommittally walked across the hall, straight out of the manor, and stood near the Dodge Tyrannosaurus Rex to wait.
At the same time, Steve and Eugene walked out from the direction of the firing range, with Eugene carrying a large pile of things in his arms.
Noticing those things, Gavin frowned and asked softly.
"Eugene, you used to make bombs on the plantation?"
"No, don't say that to me. I'm not that stupid. I'm planning to go to the warehouse and make a time bomb!"
Eugene quickly denied it and then hid the TNT that he had already shaped.
He actually started setting up the explosives at the firing range; if Steve hadn't reminded him, he wouldn't have thought to go outside the manor to work on it.
Gavin didn't pursue the question of where Eugene made the bomb; he was just making a joke.
After greeting the two men, the group left the manor, leaving Gavin alone in the hall.
Watching the people walk away, Gavin sat in the hall for a while longer before getting up and going to the basement to meet the Baron's two men.
When Gavin arrived, old Bert happened to be there as well.
Upon seeing old Bert, Gavin patted him curiously on the shoulder and asked...
"Old buddy, I thought you were in front of the radio. What are you doing here? Who's taking care of the radio now?"
"Ha, don't worry, Winnie is taking care of the radio, and she even made a recording. We can just play the recording."
Old Bert gave a reply.
Upon hearing this, Gavin couldn't help but frown.
"Winnie?"
He asked thoughtfully.
"I thought Winnie would be studying with Thomas's sister Hela, so Hela is still organizing the books?"
"No, no, no, Hela is teaching Cao English, and she's also learning Chinese from him!"
Old Bert continued to explain.
Upon hearing this, Gavin was stunned and looked at old Bert in confusion.
"Are you kidding me?"
Gavin asked incredulously.
"One of them doesn't understand English, and the other doesn't understand Chinese. They can't even communicate. How are they supposed to teach each other?"
At this point, Gavin couldn't help but imagine the scene of them teaching each other!
As Gavin was imagining this, old Bert smiled and spoke to Gavin.
“Don’t be surprised, Gavin. People who are good at education always have their own teaching methods, just like Helen Keller’s teacher was able to teach Helen Keller knowledge and literacy.”
"Compared to Ms. Cao, who doesn't understand English, wouldn't a child like Helen Keller, who is both blind and deaf, be even more difficult to teach?"
"But Helen Keller was still able to become a blind and deaf educator and writer. That is the value of education. Even if we don't understand their methods, that's the fact, isn't it?"
As soon as he finished speaking, old Bert raised his hand and pointed to Manus kneeling in front of him, and continued to ask.
"By the way, Gavin, are you here to see those two?"
"of course."
Gavin nodded, then walked over to Manus and looked at the young man whose face still held resentment and stubbornness.
Meeting Gavin's gaze, Manus took a deep breath, suppressing his fear, and then spat fiercely to the side.
"Pooh!"
"Hey! Holy shit! You fucking threw up on me! You bastard!"
Before Gavin could speak, Diana stared blankly at her thighs and instinctively cursed at Manus.
At that moment, a clear puddle of saliva was visible on the thigh of her jeans...
"Uh……"
After being scolded by Diana, Manus's expression darkened considerably. He quickly turned his head away from Diana and muttered an explanation.
"It was just an accident, damn it, just an accident..."
"Haha, kid, I was going to beat you up, but you really cracked me up!"
Gavin was amused by Manus's mistake. He laughed and grabbed old Bert's shoulder, asking a question.
"Old buddy, what's so attractive about these two? Why did you end up here?"
"Of course they attract me. Damn it, this kid is a blacksmith, and his skills should be pretty good. According to him, he has forged more than ten three-way twisted mace kitchen knives, and he also knows the technique of clay tempering. He has even successfully water-quenched them twice. That's enough to qualify him for a TV show!"
Old Bert immediately explained to Gavin.
Upon hearing this, Gavin finally became interested, so he excitedly squatted down in front of Manus, reached out and grabbed Manus's shoulder to ask.
"Wow, kid, are you really as good as old Bert says?"
"I'm definitely not as good as you at playing rugby, you damned jackal superstar!"
Manus mocked without hesitation, and at the same time wanted to spit out another mouthful of saliva.
This time, however, he swallowed his saliva, after all, the feeling of being cursed by Diana was just too humiliating!
Seeing the young man's behavior, Gavin shook his head with amusement, then picked Manus up and stood up.
As he patted Manus on the shoulder to steady him, Gavin asked him softly.
"He's actually a pretty good blacksmith, which is quite remarkable for a young man. But even if you're good at blacksmithing, you can't rape Susan, kid!"
"Rape her? Bullshit! She's slept with me more than once. How could I possibly rape her? That's all slander, you damn bitch!"
Gavin's words drew a fierce reaction from Manus, who immediately launched into a tirade of insults.
His words confirmed Gavin's earlier suspicions.
Susan did exaggerate what she said.
However, Gavin didn't emphasize this point too much. Instead, he turned to Diana and asked with a light laugh.
"Diana, how does it feel to hear that the man you like has slept with other women?"
"It tasted awful, like a fly crawling on your favorite little cake. They're both jerks!"
Diana suddenly snapped at Manus.
Upon hearing this, Manus paused for a moment, then shouted fiercely at Gavin.
"Stop harassing Diana, you big star! If you've got the guts, come at me! You jackal and trash who only knows how to play basketball, if you let me go, I'll beat the shit out of you!"
"Walter?"
Gavin was amused by Manus's words again. He nodded with a laugh and then neatly untied Manus's ropes.
"Old Bert, did you hear what he said? He said he was going to beat the shit out of me?"
"Haha, I heard that, kid. I really can't imagine that scene!"
"Yes, I don't dare to think about it either, so why don't we let him give it a try?"
Gavin and old Bert took turns teasing Manus about his kung fu, while Gavin had already completely untied Manus's ropes and tossed them aside.
Seeing that he had actually escaped, Manus glanced warily at the revolver on Gavin's waist and tentatively twisted his wrist, saying to Gavin.
"What do you mean by this? Do you really want to fight me? Aren't you afraid my iron-clad arms will smash your pretty face to pieces?!"
"Heh, since you want to spar with me, how could I not give you the chance? Whether it's hand-to-hand combat or a revolver duel, I'm ready, kid~"
Gavin chuckled and patted Manus on the shoulder, then went to Diana's side and untied her as well.
Before Gavin and the Baron met, it was still a bit unclear whether these two were good or bad, and their stance was clear. But just by looking at Susan's fair and plump appearance, one could tell that they were at least not as bad as a cult.
After being freed by Gavin, Diana felt a rare sense of freedom. Her face flushed, she touched her wrist, which Gavin had gripped, and whispered to him.
"Garvin, don't underestimate Manus. He's incredibly strong. He's been forging iron for years and can even topple an eight-month-old bull!"
"Ha, look, Manus, your girl is concerned about me, so shall we fight here, or outside?"
Gavin laughed and slapped Diana on the forehead, making the energetic farm girl even more shy.
His interactions with Diana filled Manus with intense shame and anger.
"You're willing to fight with me outside, aren't you afraid of losing face in front of your buddies?"
Manus asked Gavin with a gloomy expression.
Upon hearing this, Gavin shrugged indifferently.
"Since the outcome is the same anyway, and I happen to be in the mood to play with you, so choose, here or outside?"
"Of course it has to be outside, you piece of shit! I'll show your men your weakness, and I'll let your uncle know how wrong his decision was!"
Manus immediately roared at Gavin.
"This isn't the end of the world anymore. Big stars, tycoons, fame and money are useless in the apocalypse. Only strength deserves respect!"
“I’m younger than you, I’m stronger than you, and even without you, I can build a bigger camp than you. I can lead my men to live better lives than you. Why should I join you, just because you’re fucking famous? Trash!”
"They're all wrong, all wrong. They're still clinging to the rules from before the apocalypse, thinking you're still some great figure to be admired. But now you're just an ordinary guy. You can't even make a knife!"
"You want to challenge me? Fine, whether it's a fistfight or a revolver duel, I'll..."
"Wait, Manus, no!"
Just as Manus was roaring in fury, Diana suddenly interrupted him and whispered something in his ear.
“Manus, Gavin was a six-time Richards Region Revolver Quick Shot Championship winner, back when he wasn’t even playing football!”
"Uh……"
Manus's eyes suddenly became much clearer...
Upon seeing this, Gavin and old Bert were both taken aback, and then they both burst into laughter.
And Manus...
His face flushed red amidst the laughter, and he pursed his lips, looking both fierce and cowardly, before awkwardly continuing.
"Ahem, let's have a fistfight, a fistfight! No rules!" "Haha, fuck, no problem haha, let's go, let's get out of here, I'm fucking excited!"
Gavin laughed and patted Manus on the shoulder, then pushed old Bert out of the basement.
Watching Gavin push the wheelchair, Diana pursed her lips, then made up her mind, blushed, stepped forward, grabbed the armrest of the wheelchair, and whispered.
"I...I'll push the old man, Gavin..."
"Hey, Diana, stop it! Stop sucking up to them!"
Manus yelled at Diana with a bitter face, and Diana turned around and cursed back at Manus without hesitation.
"Go discipline your Susan baby, you bastard!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Diana, her face flushed, took over old Bert's wheelchair and, with her head down, pushed it forward without saying a word.
Gavin, now free, naturally came to Manus's side and said to him with a smile.
"Kid, you're really lucky with the ladies. Diana and Susan are both great. Which one do you like?"
"Don't try to get close to me, you jackal from Richard's Farm District. Let's chat after I've beaten you down!"
Manus cursed at Gavin viciously.
Upon hearing this, Gavin smiled and nodded, then continued to ask Manus.
"Alright, then let's talk after I've finished playing with you. But even if it's a bet, there should be an agreement, right?"
“If I lose, I can make you the leader of Camp Gavin, and our camp will be renamed Camp Manus. But if you lose, what do you have to bet against my camp?”
"If you lose, then Diana will... umm?"
Gavin chuckled and teased Manus.
Manus raised an eyebrow in displeasure at Gavin's suggestion.
"Don't even think about it. That's between the two of us. If I lose, I can work as a blacksmith for you for the rest of my life. Anyway, that's all I know how to do!"
"But I won't lose, because I've fought in underground boxing matches on the Indian reservation. You fucking never would have guessed, did you? I'm actually an underground fighter. You're finished, big star!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Manus laughed confidently, while Diana looked at Gavin with concern.
"Boss Gavin!"
Diana called out to Gavin.
"Manus may have actually fought in underground boxing matches; before the apocalypse, he would often have some extra income!"
"Heh, extra income isn't just evidence of fighting in underground boxing matches; maybe Manus even sold his ass before~"
Gavin responded jokingly, then pushed open the door leading to the surface.
Leaving the basement, Gavin led the group across the corridors and halls, finally exiting the manor and standing between the courtyards of the old and new manors.
Feeling the free wind and looking at the azure sky, Manus took a deep breath, then glanced around and said to Gavin with dissatisfaction.
"That's it? Only two or three spectators? If you don't want them to see you lose, then don't bother with this!"
"No, there are only a few people in my camp. As long as one person sees the results, the news will spread throughout the camp very quickly. You don't need to worry about me hiding anything."
Gavin chuckled and shrugged at Manus, then lightly flicked his wrist.
Not far away, a curious William approached the four of them and whispered to Gavin, "I'm asking you something."
"Boss, what's going on? Are they both alright?"
"Pretty much. This kid challenged me to a fight, saying he'd beat the shit out of me."
Gavin responded to William, who immediately lost interest. Gavin nodded knowingly and chuckled.
"Oh, I see. I'll go back to work then. Boss, you're really boring."
As soon as he finished speaking, William actually left.
Gavin then spoke to Manus, who couldn't help but swallow.
"My guys are all pretty strong personalities, don't mind them. Come on, do you want to go first?"
"Of course..."
Manus swallowed hard, suddenly feeling immense pressure.
William completely ignored his gaze, which made him vaguely realize something.
Gavin might be quite a fighter too!
Thinking of this, Manus couldn't help but glance at Diana, who was nervously watching the two of them.
Seeing Diana's worried gaze, Manus felt that Diana was worried about Gavin, and his eyes almost reddened.
"Humph!"
He let out a heavy groan, then jumped lightly twice on the spot, followed by a training-style punch to warm up.
Brush brush!
While letting his fists create waves of wind, Manus hopped closer to Gavin and tentatively asked him a question.
"Big star, aren't you going to warm up?"
"You can warm up all you want, I don't need to. I just hope that after you get back up, you'll learn to call me 'boss'."
Gavin stood there with a smile, spreading his hands out to Manus.
Seeing this, Manus gritted his teeth, then did a few squats and jumps to adapt to the fighting footwork.
After warming up for a full two and a half minutes, Manus felt his body was excited enough, so he finally stood in front of Gavin.
Are you sure you don't want to warm up?
He asked Gavin one last time, and Gavin shook his head one last time.
"No need, can we begin?"
"Of course!"
Manus nodded emphatically, then raised his fists and circled around Gavin, looking for an opportunity.
After he circled around to Gavin's side, he suddenly pushed off the ground with his right leg, and his left leg immediately lashed out at Gavin like a whip.
He never did any kicking motions during his warm-up, but his best skill was actually his legs. The speed and sharpness of his kick made Gavin squint in admiration.
For an amateur boxer, this kick is already very fast; even for a professional, this kick would be quite impressive.
but……
Gavin easily dodged the kick by simply sidestepping, then lightly raised his hand and slapped Manus across the face.
Snapped!
goodong...
Manus collapsed to the ground, falling into a coma.
He couldn't even withstand a slap from Gavin!
"Fuck!"
Seeing that Manus had fallen so easily, Diana gasped and quickly released her wheelchair, rushing forward to check on Manus's condition.
In the distance, William, who was leaving, heard the sound and immediately showed an expression of no surprise, then continued to clean up the beef cattle with Sariel.
Wells, the repairman, was genuinely startled by Gavin's slap.
He thought there would at least be some exciting fighting, but it all ended in an instant...
He rubbed his face with lingering fear, then touched the Bugatti Veyron in front of him with a look of regret.
And the guard post on the second floor of the manor.
Looking at the fallen Manus, Madison pursed his lips, picked up his iced cola, took a swig, and laughed.
"He actually boxed with the boss? Are you kidding me? This show is even uglier than 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' and 'Dating the Cannibals'!"
Okay, Running with the Kardashians was the most criticized TV show in the United States since 2007.
Cannibal Dating is a Netflix gem, as the show features guests eating each other's body parts, such as skin and fat.
See? America is just that magical...
And so, about three minutes later.
Manus opened his eyes in confusion and the first thing he saw was Diana, who looked completely speechless.
Seeing Diana's displeased expression, Manus swallowed hard, then tried to recall everything that had happened before, and instinctively asked Diana a question.
“Diana, who won? What happened to me? Where is that bastard Gavin? He…”
"You should call him Boss Gavin, Manus!"
Diana suddenly interrupted Manus, and said to him with a wry smile.
"You have the nerve to ask what happened to you? Tell me what happened to you? You were knocked down by Boss Gavin in just one move, and then you just passed out!"
"My God, I'm embarrassed for you just watching from the sidelines. You've even done underground boxing before, and you even warmed up for two and a half minutes like a pro!"
"What?!!"
Hearing Diana's complaints, Manus was completely dumbfounded. He opened his mouth in disbelief and growled.
"I was suddenly... hiss... my face hurts so much, my cheekbone feels like it's broken... ugh... fuck..."
It wasn't until he felt a sharp pain in his cheekbone that Manus realized it was all real.
Before the apocalypse, his wealth and fame were nowhere near Gavin's.
Even after the apocalypse, in the field of boxing that he was so proud of, he was still no match for Gavin?
Thinking of this, Manus covered his face in anguish, and tentatively asked Diana.
“Diana, do you think if I were to have a cowboy duel with him, then…”
"God, please stop going crazy! Have you been secretly having sex these past few days? You can't even hit a 30-meter target!"
Diana couldn't hold back any longer and punched Manus hard in the stomach.
Manus was hit hard and twitched violently. Then he lay there helplessly, clutching his stomach, as if he had died, without saying a word.
Seeing Manus completely lose faith, Diana took a pitiful breath, gently grasped Manus's wrist, and said.
"When the boss took Mr. Albert away, he gave us two a day to rest. Our only job today is to wait for the people who will pick us up."
"Didn't Uncle Baron say that if we didn't go back, he would leave at four o'clock at the latest? In that case, they might be able to get here before five o'clock."
"Gavin's camp is really amazing. There are even teachers here. If we have children in the future, they can receive their education here, and at least they won't be as stupid and clumsy as you."
“Uncle Baron did the right thing. Susan, that little glutton, also gave a good suggestion. We should have come yesterday. Last night, the camp had small cakes for dessert.”
"Humph!"
Upon hearing this, Manus, feeling ashamed, rolled over and lay face down on the grass, burying his face in the clumps.
"Go ahead and eat your little cake, and go have a baby with that damn Gavin. Now get out of here!"
“Manus…” Diana said hesitantly.
"Leave me alone, damn it, and then I'll just be all alone, sob sob..."
“Manus…”
"Waaaaah, I told you not to bother me, I want to be alone, get lost!"
Manus really cried. As he cried, he buried his head in the haystack as much as possible. At that moment, he wished he could dig out a three-bedroom, one-living-room tomb and bury himself in it!
And Diana...
Hearing Manus's unwilling sobs, she took a deep breath and then spoke to Manus one last time.
“Manus, I mean there’s a pile of horse manure next to your face, be careful… be careful, okay…”
As soon as she finished speaking, Diana pursed her lips and stood up.
Manus looked up in confusion, then made eye contact with the horse manure just fourteen centimeters away to his left.
After one glance...
"Waaaaah... I'm a piece of shit, damn it, why am I so awful..."
He cried even harder.
Seeing that Manus was actually crying, Diana took a deep breath and then shook her head helplessly.
Compared to Gavin, Manus is really not good enough, and Manus's ambition is as foolish as that of a naive child.
But only a Manus like this can truly be a boy of his own.
Although that bitch Susan shamelessly seduced Manus these past few days, it was all her fault. Diana felt that she would get revenge on Susan sooner or later!
Once Susan finds a new target, she'll definitely sleep with Susan's man too!
Well, it's best if Manus doesn't find out.
Poor Manus, he probably can't take any more blows...
And so, about two hours and forty minutes later.
At 5:12, Gavin, who was discussing the camp construction plan with Thomas, heard a voice from the walkie-talkie.
"Boss, this is Feng. We spotted an Iveco van in the direction of the farm town!"
"What, an Iveco?"
Gavin narrowed his eyes in surprise; this type of car was not common in Texas.
So Gavin and Thomas immediately left the hall and went to the front of the manor, where they found Diana and Manus, who were sitting by the river.
Upon seeing Gavin, Manus awkwardly turned his head away, hesitating to look Gavin in the eye, while instinctively rubbing his face.
Diana simply greeted Gavin.
"Gavin, boss~"
"Hmm, Diana, an Iveco van is coming from the direction of Farm Town. Do you think it could be the Baron's car?"
"Iveco?"
Diana was taken aback for a moment, then continued to ask.
"Is it an Iveco DailyVan? If so, it must be Uncle Baron's car. He especially likes commercial SUVs and has more than one Iveco at home!"
"OK!"
Having received the answer from Diana, Gavin nodded knowingly, and then spoke to Lao Feng over the intercom.
"Feng, don't get close to Iveco. Just let them come to the farm. They might be the Baron's party."
"Roger that, boss. They're moving fast. If they keep this up, they should be able to reach the farm in about eight minutes."
Old Feng answered, then he and Kelvin bypassed the road, letting the Iveco, which hadn't noticed them, speed towards the manor.
And so, about nine minutes later.
Gavin and Thomas, along with the expectant Diana and Susan, and the dejected Manus, met the parked Iveco in front of the estate.
After the Iveco DailyVan stopped, the driver immediately jumped out of the driver's seat.
He was an old man with a full head of messy white hair, which even looked a bit like Einstein's, and he had a noticeable bald patch on the top of his head.
But the old man's clothes were very clean and crisp. His light blue plaid suit paired with a matching vest made him look elegant, and his warm smile complemented his attire perfectly.
As soon as he got out of the car, he immediately checked on the condition of his children.
After confirming that apart from Manus's slightly swollen face, Susan and Diana were both perfectly healthy, the old man breathed a sigh of relief, smiled, and pushed open the door of the Iveco van to welcome the remaining three people out.
Of the three, only one looked relatively young, probably around forty-four or forty-five years old.
Well, he's not young at this age, but compared to the other elderly people with white hair, he can only be called a young man.
After bringing everyone out of the car, the smartly dressed old man turned around and, like a young man full of energy, came to Gavin.
He eagerly reached out his hand to Gavin.
As Gavin shook hands with him, the old man chuckled and spoke to Gavin.
"Hello, Gavin King, I've been looking forward to meeting you for so long."
"You bought most of the farms around here, so why didn't you buy mine? I've wanted to sell my farm and settle in Switzerland for ages, but you couldn't make me do it even on the last day!"
"My God, is my farm worse than Brent's? He built an airport specifically to inflate land prices and rip you off, but I didn't do that!"
"Oh, by the way, haha, I'm Sergio, Sergio Winston, you can also call me Baron~"
"Of course, I am not a baron. I just love European aristocratic culture. I am glad that you have taken my children in. It is my good fortune to know you, young man!"
At this point, the Baron even felt that a handshake wasn't enough, so he simply gave Gavin a warm hug.
Gavin hugged the old man back, then turned around with amusement to look at Manus, who looked utterly embarrassed, and asked him a question.
"Manus, are you sure you plan to lead this group of old folks to build a powerful and successful business in the apocalypse? You're something else!"
"I……"
Manus was speechless for a moment, then admitted that he never intended to make it big or strong.
He was just instinctively disgusted by Gavin, who was better than him in every way!
Watching Gavin and Manus interact, Baron Seriel tilted his head, letting his messy hair flutter in the wind.
