Doomsday America

Chapter 120 Each Performing Their Own Duties

Chapter 120 Each Performing Their Own Duties (10k)

Meanwhile, regarding the manor...

After Gavin and his group left, Eugene hurriedly called Martin and went back to his room to change his equipment.

Because they were tasked with capturing zombies, Eugene and Martin wrapped masks and scarves around their faces and necks, and also added several layers of protection to their forearms and calves.

After they finished, they left the manor in high spirits.

Just as they were about to leave the manor, Winnie, who was on guard duty, raised her hand and called out to them.

"Uncle, may your life be wonderful and your death swift!"

"Hmm, a brilliant life, a swift death, kid~"

Eugene smiled and waved to Winnie.

Beside him, Martin glanced at the second floor and asked.

"What the heck is that phrase? Is it part of our camp's unique corporate culture?"

"It's the end of the world, so let those crappy companies and their culture get out of here. That's our universally acknowledged doomsday creed!"

Eugene laughed and answered, then patted Martin on the shoulder and led him to the Raptor.

Just as Eugene was about to sit in the driver's seat, Martin couldn't help but lean against the passenger door and continue asking questions.

"Why don't we ride motorcycles or horses? I see you have quite a few good horses."

"Shut your mouth, Private. I'm your superior now. All you fucking need to do is listen to me!"

Faced with Martin's repeated questioning, Eugene cursed in annoyance.

Upon hearing this, Martin paused for a moment, then curled his lip in disdain, opened the door, and sat down with a look of contempt.

Seemingly hearing Martin smack his lips, Eugene snorted and said.

"Have you lost your mind because of these leaves? When you hunt, do you like to use horses and motorcycles to transport your large prey?"

"Are you kidding me? I don't want to catch just one or two zombies. I want to try to catch more, and only Pikachu can bring back a lot of zombies!"

"Damn it, how long has it been since I felt like my face was covered? Let's hurry up and finish this, then get some rest. I've been pretty sleep-deprived these past few days!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Eugene drove the car off the highway, crossed the river, and headed straight for the forest.

As the forest drew closer, Martin, who had been feeling listless, finally perked up. He opened the car window and greedily inhaled the scent of nature.

He then lowered the car window to its lowest position and placed his heavy crossbow on it.

Eugene glanced at the heavy crossbow, scoffed, and cursed.

"Buddy, your crossbow is probably useless in today's operation. We're not here to kill zombies, we're here to capture them!"

"Put away the crossbow, then take out your gun and fire a few shots into the forest. If there are zombies nearby, lure them out, then pick a few lone ones and ram them!"

"If there are only a few zombies, we'll kill some and leave a few alive."

"If there are a lot of zombies, we'll run into a few at the edge and then run away, trying to break their legs to separate them from the horde. We'll come back and take them away once we've shaken them off!"

At this point, Eugene changed direction, directing the raptors to fly closer to the forest.

He gradually stopped the car and then raised his hand to Martin.

"Come on, hunter, fire a few shots."

"Hmm."

Martin pursed his lips, put the heavy crossbow in the back seat, took out his pistol, and fired a shot into the sky.

boom!
After the gunshot, Martin took a cigarette out of his pocket, tossed it to Eugene, and asked.

"So, we just wait here?"

"Wait a few minutes, then run a few hundred meters forward and fire another shot, then continue waiting!"

Eugene answered while sighing.

"I don't want to go through all this trouble either, but the boss told us to be careful. That guy's already exhausted, and I definitely don't want him wasting his energy spitting on me, haha~"

Amidst laughter, Eugene lit a cigarette and waited for sounds to come from the direction of the forest.

If there are zombies in the forest within three to five hundred meters of them, they would probably be able to reach them within three to five minutes after hearing the sound.

Eugene thought about it carefully and felt that his idea should be correct, so he waited with Martin.

Five minutes later, Eugene reluctantly threw away the cigarette butt and then drove his car over it several times.

After confirming that the cigarette butt hadn't caught fire, they continued driving forward, firing a shot every few hundred meters to try their luck.

And their constant attempts to get lucky.

Outside Richardtown.

Gavin parked the car in front of the gas station he had visited the day before and gestured for Steve to take over as driver.

After Steve got into the driver's seat, Gavin picked up his hammer and spoke to Michael and Nikita.

"In a moment, we'll do a spot check on the houses that were cleaned yesterday."

"If we find any residents in those houses, it means we must change our approach to exploration."

“If the residents continue to move the houses around to make them more evenly distributed after we’ve cleared some of them, then we can’t be sure we’ve got a completely safe town.”

"At that time, we can only try to find the location of the howlers, and keep using their cries to attract the zombies in the town. We have to fight them head-on and slowly take down the horde!"

After saying this, Gavin waved to Mike and Nikita, and the three of them headed towards the gas station.

As Madison walked, he took a deep breath of the cool February air and laughed.

"Boss, the zombies shouldn't be that outrageous, right? Maybe they'll just..."

"Hiss... Roar!!!"

Before Old Mike could finish speaking, Gavin, who had pushed open the door first, already had a helpless expression on his face.

Inside the convenience store at the gas station, a shirtless zombie jumped out from behind the checkout counter and lunged at him with clear intent.

Seeing this, Gavin shrugged at Nikita and Michael, then stepped forward and smashed half of the zombie's head off with a powerful hammer blow.

As the zombie's corpse crashed heavily to the ground, Gavin spoke without turning his head.

"Alright, guys, we don't need to guess anymore, because these damned settlers have proven they'll be replenishing the area the settlers are defending."

“Our efforts yesterday afternoon were almost wasted. After all, once they learned to reinforce their positions, no matter how many we killed, we couldn’t guarantee the safety of exploring every house.”

"So let's go straight to our target. Let's go to the gun shop first; it's closer to us."

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin reluctantly sat down in the back seat.

Nikita and Mike then returned to their respective positions.

After all the car doors were closed, Steve drove while asking with a pained expression.

"Boss, if we go straight to the gun shop, the risk will be much greater if we encounter the Howlers."

"Yeah, those damn zombies always find a way to force us to take risks."

Gavin continued the previous sentence while adjusting his hat.

In the passenger seat, looking at the scenery getting closer and closer to the town center, Nikita took a deep breath and said softly.

"Even the houses we've explored, we can't guarantee their safety. This kind of environment has a huge impact on us!"

"Indeed, this situation is very distressing, and we need to keep our nerves on edge."

Gavin nodded and smiled helplessly.

"Unless we clear out all the residents from the town, until they are all gone to the point where the Howlers can no longer call out, then we can say that we have completely taken back the town!"

“Even if the garrison is cleared out, we still need to guard against ambushers who won’t be attracted by the howlers.”

"Damn it, I hate these damn zombies more and more. We'll never have a moment of peace when facing them!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin peered toward the huge pile of corpses in the center of the town.

At this moment, the corpses on the upper layer of the pile that Gavin could see clearly had begun to show signs of decomposition.

Their flesh and blood were no longer like yesterday, at least retaining the basic color of flesh and blood. Instead, they had become darker, more purple, blacker, and more rotten. Just looking at them made them smell terrible.

Seeing this, Gavin was extremely glad that he was driving the Battle Shield. After all, as a land armored vehicle, the Battle Shield not only has the ability to defend against RPGs, but also has an air circulation system to defend against biological and chemical weapons.

After confirming that he wouldn't be overwhelmed by the stench of hundreds of corpses, Gavin sighed and said.

"These corpses look incredibly foul; even the low temperatures of February couldn't keep them alive for more than a few days."

"If we don't clear the pile of bodies out soon, we probably won't be able to come to this town in three or four days at most."

After saying that, Gavin sighed helplessly.

If we let these corpses continue to rot, who knows what kind of plague they will create after they have completely decomposed!
Hearing Gavin's words, Madison turned around thoughtfully and spoke to Gavin.

"Boss, if there's really no other way, we'll just have to set them on fire and burn them."

"Well, my bottom line is the last two days. If we still can't clear the town by the morning after tomorrow so that the excavators can work in the town, then we'll set it on fire!"

As Gavin responded, he glanced worriedly at the surroundings of the pile of corpses.

That was a huge pile of corpses, more than seven meters high, even taller than a two-story building.

Once a pile of corpses of this size is fully burned, the flames could probably reach 15 or even 18 meters high!
The area within 15 meters of the pile of corpses would definitely become a high-temperature forbidden zone that humans could not approach, a distance that could even allow the fire to spread to nearby buildings!
Because there are at least two shops within six or seven meters of the pile of corpses.

Once the pile of corpses is fully burned, the grease from the corpses softens, flows, and spreads, and the fire can quickly reach the shops, and incidentally burn all twenty-odd buildings in the town center, except for the park, into ruins!
As for further afield...

Gavin glanced thankfully at the town park, which resembled a crescent moon enclosing the central shopping district.

The park is mostly low shrubs and lawns, with a few roads connecting the middle, and no tall trees that are closely connected, so the fire efficiency is much lower.

In this way, the park can probably keep the flames in the center and prevent them from spreading to the entire town.

With that in mind, Gavin silently made a decision.

If, two days later, the town still doesn't have the conditions for an excavator to enter...

Then this fire has to be lit no matter what.

At worst, they could just loot all the shops in the central area before setting the fire, taking away as many useful supplies as possible.

As Gavin pondered this, Steve drove around the city center and turned onto a side road southwest of the town.

After driving about 130 meters down the side road, Steve parked the car in front of the rancher gun store.

After parking the car, Steve turned around and said to Gavin.

"Boss, we've arrived at the gun shop. The shop's warehouse is to the left of the shooting range, and it also has a basement. Don't miss it!"

"Yeah, don't worry, I won't miss out on anything good."

Gavin patted Steve on the shoulder, then opened the door and got out of the car.

After getting off the bus this time, Gavin and his two companions felt completely different from yesterday.

Because the gun shop is located closer to the town center than the library!
Once the howlers appear, no matter which way they run, the distance they need to travel will be longer than before.

Behind Gavin, listening to the quiet air around them, Nikita swallowed and whispered to Gavin.

"Sir, the shops around the gun shop are too close to it. Even if there is a shooting range behind the gun shop as a buffer to delay the zombies rushing towards us, the houses on both sides of the gun shop are all shops and residences!"

"Once the horde erupts, we'll be facing zombies from all directions this time, not just from two directions like in the library!"

"So, boss, should we clear out the houses around the gun shop first, to create a buffer zone that can delay the zombies' escape?"

At this point, Nikita looked at Gavin and pursed her lips.

After a brief moment of thought, Gavin shook his head at Nikita and said...

"We may have a simpler way."

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin picked up a hammer and smashed it against the glass of the gun shop.

Wow! ! !

In an instant, the sound of shattering glass echoed all around, and Nikita and Old Mac's muscles tensed instantly.

Gavin put away his hammer, drew his pistol, and calmly observed the signs around him.

After about ten seconds, Gavin exhaled and smiled at Nikita.

"Now that's good, as long as we go into the gun shop and make sure there are no Howlers inside, we can start moving things."

"Exploring the surrounding rooms will only increase the chances of encountering the Howler. Before provoking the Howler, we'd better take what we want and then actively seek out the Howler."

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin reached out and took the broken glass that was still hanging in front of him and threw it aside. Then he walked directly into the gun shop through the floor-to-ceiling window.

After walking around the gun shop, Gavin knocked on each door in turn, but there was no response!
Clearly, after Gavin inflicted two moderate casualties on the town's residents, the town's residents had become so sparsely distributed that there wasn't even a single zombie in the gun shop.

After assessing the gun shop's environment, Gavin arrived at the shop's entrance, pushed open the door, and gave Nikita and the other man a comical smile.

"Hehe, this atmosphere is really strange."

Gavin couldn't help but say something.

"Even though there are many zombies in the town, none of them can stop us from working. As long as the howlers don't appear, the town looks almost as safe as an empty town..."

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin shook his head with amusement, then waved to the two men, who immediately swallowed hard and walked into the gun shop.

And then they started smashing locks one by one in the gun shop, trying to open the warehouse door and the basement door.

At the manor, on the raptor vehicle parked near the forest.

Seeing the two zombies finally appear, Eugene let out a long breath, then quickly pushed open the car door.

As he jumped out of the car, Eugene took one last cautious look behind the zombies.

After confirming that there were no more footsteps behind the zombies, Eugene smiled wickedly and beckoned to Martin.

"Tsk tsk, hunter, it's time for you to show your skills."

"Show off your skills?"

Upon hearing this, Martin jumped out of the passenger seat, opened the back seat, and picked up the heavy crossbow.

After he took aim briefly, he...

Whoosh!
The crossbow bolt flew out and landed squarely on the foot of a zombie as it ran at full speed. The arrow pierced through the zombie's foot and embedded itself in the ground, causing the zombie to trip heavily.

Looking at the zombie lying on the ground, Martin chuckled and leisurely took out a cigarette.

As he lit a cigarette, he sneered at Eugene.

"See how accurate I am? My crossbow has even hit a cougar that was running diagonally towards me. When that kind of beast is hunting, it can move at least twenty meters per second, as fast as a phantom!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Martin put the cigarette in his mouth and took a satisfying drag.

Then, he raised his chin at Eugene, and with the energy provided by the cigarette, continued to provoke Eugene.

"How about a sniper match? Let's see who can take out our target first!"

"If I lose, I'll wash your socks for a year. If you lose, you son of a bitch, you have to come with me to the nearby town to see if anyone has any leaves hidden in their house!"

"Get the fuck out of here!"

Hearing Martin's words, Eugene angrily picked up the baseball bat, which he had found in the corner of the gym.

As Eugene walked towards the zombies with a stick in his hand, he continued to curse at Martin without turning his head.

"Who the hell do you think I am? I don't want to play this game where reading is the stake. Besides, I promised Gavin I would help you quit reading. Do you think I'm as untrustworthy as you are, like a fart?"

As he spoke, the zombies charging ahead were already within five meters of Eugene.

As for the second zombie, it was only about nine meters away from the first zombie.

Having determined the distance to the zombie and observed its movements, Eugene lunged to the left, crouched low, and slammed his metal baseball bat heavily into the zombie's left ankle.

quack!

Taking advantage of the brief moment when the first zombie was knocked down, Eugene quickly moved to the left to continue dodging the attack of the second zombie, and in the process, bent over and struck again with his stick, knocking the second zombie to the ground as well.

And so, Eugene hopped around the two zombies, swinging the stick around and smashing them all over, breaking off their limbs bit by bit!
After confirming that the zombies could only crawl in the shadows using their severed limbs, and that their speed had decreased to a negligible level.

Eugene curled his lip and shouted at Martin with a cold laugh.

"Well, you fucking hunter, did you see what I'm capable of?" "I could handle these two idiots even without you. I could handle them even if they had brains, let alone the fact that they've turned into two mindless beasts!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Eugene chuckled evilly and stomped heavily on the back of a zombie.

After stomping the zombie to the ground, Eugene casually swung his baseball bat and hit another zombie on the shoulder twice more!
And Martin.

Seeing Eugene's arrogant demeanor, he spat to the side, then picked up the rope from the back seat and slowly approached Eugene.

"I didn't expect someone as short as you to be so capable. You're quite something!"

As he spoke to Eugene, he lifted his foot to take over the zombies that Eugene hadn't stepped on, skillfully tied them up with a rope, and gagged them as well.

Hearing Martin's words, Eugene angrily swung his baseball bat, as if to smash it into Martin's head.

"Who the hell are you calling short? I'm only a few centimeters away from being 1.8 meters tall. Believe me or not, I'll smash you to death, Mazefak!"

"Huh? Smash me to death? Come on, come on! I'll turn on the walkie-talkie right now and let you smash me all you want, come on!"

Faced with Eugene's threat, Martin nonchalantly stretched his neck and casually pointed a finger at his head.

Seeing this, Eugene angrily shoved the baseball bat into Martin's body and cursed.

"Stop fucking joking around. While you're at it, tie this end to my feet too. I see you're pretty good at playing with ropes."

"I'm a professional hunter, buddy. Guess how long I've been practicing knot tying?"

Martin replied to Eugene, then tossed the bound zombie aside and went to Eugene.

As he tied up the second zombie, Martin continued speaking.

"The art of knot tying is an essential skill in the wilderness. Tying a strong knot while saving as much rope length as possible can be a great help."

"Whether it's building a simple shelter, setting up a hammock off the ground, or making rope traps and binding prey, everyone who has crawled out of the wilderness is familiar with ropes."

"Although you can do those things without ropes, having a good understanding of ropes will always give you more chances of survival."

With that, Martin tied the last knot, then casually picked up the zombie and walked towards the raptor.

Hearing Martin's tone, Eugene curled his lip, and as he picked up the second zombie, he teased Martin.

"Redhead, you're talking to me like you're lecturing me. Screw wilderness survival, do you think you're Bear Grylls?"

"Ha, you think Bear Grylls' survival skills are necessarily better than mine? I don't think I'm any worse than him. In fact, I've really wanted to make my own survival show for a while now, but unfortunately no show is willing to invite me to join!"

As Martin responded, he threw the zombies heavily into the warehouse.

Seeing this, Eugene angrily kicked Martin's shin with the foot of the zombie he was holding.

"Hey, future survival superstar, you better throw me gently, or you'll bleed too much. You'll have to wash your car by the river yourself. I don't want to go with you!"

"Fine, fine, shit, I'll wash it."

At this moment, listening to Eugene's usual cursing, Martin didn't say much. Instead, he placed his hands on the pickup truck's cargo bed and stared blankly at the frantically writhing zombies.

Seeing that the zombie was about to burrow out of the pickup truck using only its waist and abdominal strength, Martin quickly jumped into the pickup truck and used a rope to tie the two zombies together.

When they are alone, they are as active as caterpillars that have been pricked by needles, wriggling frantically.

But after they were tied together, neither of them could make an effective bending motion, because the two zombies simply couldn't coordinate the direction of their twisting waists and sticking out their buttocks.

After subduing the two zombies, Martin sighed and sat down on the edge of the pickup truck's cargo bay.

"This is the first time I've seen zombies this close. Damn it, they... they're even more disgusting than I imagined!"

As he spoke, Martin stretched his legs and kicked the zombie's calf, which was still struggling and twisting even though it was broken.

Sensing Martin's action, the kicked zombie became much more agitated, and its two severed legs began to swing wildly in even more bizarre shapes.

Looking at the leg that had been twisted into a Kryptonian shape, Martin swallowed hard and then cursed.

"Fuck it, looking at this stuff makes me really uncomfortable, I even feel my legs starting to ache!"

"If my penis could be like these zombies, still going strong even if it's broken, that would be so damn good!"

"what?"

Upon hearing Martin's words, Eugene, who was about to get into the car, suddenly froze.

He roared at Martin in disbelief.

"Your penis is broken?!"

"Fuck, what the hell did you hear? I was just using a metaphor, a metaphor!!!"

Martin hurriedly jumped out of the cargo hold and retrieved a bottle of beer from the passenger seat.

He had hoped to use the beer to wash away the horrifying images of broken limbs from his mind, but for some reason, he suddenly lost his appetite.

"Shit..."

Frustrated, Martin put down his beer, raised his hand to the car window, and whispered something.

"We're all going to be stuck with zombies, aren't we, buddy?"

"What the hell are you talking nonsense? Unless Professor X suddenly appears on Earth and can mess up the brains of all the zombies from tens of thousands of kilometers away, we'll be playing horror pretend with zombies for the rest of our lives, and what's scary is that we'll be playing until we die!"

As Eugene responded, he started the car and drove towards the more distant forest.

Martin remained silent for more than half a minute after Eugene spoke, until the raptor stopped again, at which point he let out a long sigh and smiled bitterly.

"If going bald is the price for gaining superpowers to kill all the zombies, then I wouldn't mind shaving my head and plucking out all the hair on my head at the same time."

"Fuck you, nobody cares about your pubic hair. Hurry up and shoot to lure the zombies, you stupid redhead!"

Eugene, grumbling, pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and awaited his next move.

Martin then drew his gun and fired, the sound of gunfire echoing through the forest.

The work continued for about two and a half hours.

Around 11:26.

Eugene and Martin drove the raptor back to the estate.

As they approached the garage, the two continued to hurl insults at each other from inside the car.

But when they were 150 meters away from the garage, the two of them suddenly stopped in unison and looked at the battle shield parked in front of the garage.

"Fuck!"

Eugene couldn't help but wipe the blood from his neck and said.

"They're back so early today?"

"Why, do they usually come home very late?"

Martin instinctively retorted, then glanced at the shield and grinned.

"Look at their car, tsk tsk, not a single drop of blood. They must have had a pretty easy morning."

"What the hell do you mean? You think they'd avoid us and go camping? No blood is a good thing, today's a really nice day~"

Eugene interrupted Martin and quickly parked the pickup truck next to the Battle Shield.

In the distant manor hall, upon hearing the sound of a returning car, Gavin stopped laughing and clapped his hands at the enthusiastic group of men around him.

"Alright, these things are just sitting at home, you can admire them anytime. Let's go see Eugene first."

As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin led the way out of the manor, with the rest of the group following behind him. They appeared scattered, but in reality, a strange sense of order was constantly emerging.

Outside the manor, Eugene, who was getting out of the car, saw the crowd walking towards him and immediately laughed and gave them a thumbs up, then pointed the thumbs up at himself.

"Keep an eye on them, guys. I brought back five living zombies, and one of them is completely unharmed!"

"That's right, the one that was completely intact was the one I caught. I admit that fighting zombies is much more fun than smoking marijuana, haha!"

Martin interrupted Eugene, bumping Eugene's shoulder hard as he passed by.

Eugene was immediately knocked aside, and in his annoyance, he kicked Martin hard in the butt.

Across from him, Gavin smiled knowingly as he watched Eugene and Martin interact.

He knew that putting those two redheads together would create a special chemistry.

After all, they're both red-haired, which means they might have been of the same race as each other!

Look at them now, in just one morning, the two of them have become so familiar with each other.

Once Martin is accepted by the team, it won't be long before Eugene will be able to take on more work with him, even if Martin still has to face withdrawal symptoms.

As he thought about it, Gavin looked away from Martin and at Eugene, whose neck and collar were covered in blood.

Gavin couldn't help but ask Eugene.

"Dude, what happened to you?"

After speaking, Gavin first pointed to his neck at Eugene, then to the scarf Martin was wearing, and continued to ask.

"Didn't you wear a neck brace like him?"

"I brought it, how could I not bring it, boss!"

Eugene quickly responded, then angrily kicked Martin again.

Eugene continued to explain.

"I was doing my job perfectly fine, but this bastard suddenly jumped over and stabbed the zombie on my body. Not only did he take away one of my zombie targets, but he also sprayed me with zombie blood. Fuck!"

"etc……?"

Upon hearing this, Gavin asked Eugene suspiciously.

"You just said the zombie was somewhere on you? On your body? And you were attacked by a zombie again..."

"Boss!!!"

Eugene quickly interrupted Gavin, then gesticulated wildly as he explained to Gavin.

"You have no idea how dangerous it was. The two of us were fighting four zombies at the same time with melee weapons. I thought we should each take down two, but he accidentally missed one!"

"Then I was immediately surrounded by three zombies. Damn it, one of the zombies lunged at me from the side. I was careless and didn't have time to dodge..."

"Yes, Eugene, so you know yourself that I saved your life, right?"

Martin interrupted Eugene with a sneer, and then gave Eugene the middle finger.

Upon hearing this, Eugene remained silent for a moment, then sighed dejectedly and said to Gavin with a wry smile.

"Alright, I admit I got pounced on by a zombie again. This is the fourth time, the fourth time!"

"I admit I was indeed saved by this guy once. He arrived just in time; any later, and maybe another zombie would have torn the leather on my calf..."

As soon as he finished speaking, Eugene turned to Old Man Mac and shouted at him.

"Old Mike, starting tonight, you'd better train me in explosiveness and strength, damn it."

"These shitty zombies are fast, agile, and utterly reckless. Aside from the fact that they're not strapped with bombs, they're more disgusting than the most dangerous enemies I've ever encountered in the Middle East!"

After saying that, Eugene walked past Gavin and Old Man Mack and peeked into the hall.

After just one glance, he couldn't help but widen his eyes and continue shouting excitedly.

"Wait, damn it, what the hell are those? An M2 heavy machine gun and an M249 squad automatic weapon! We finally have these amazing gadgets, haha!"

While shouting, Eugene rushed to the five machine guns, touching them with great interest.

After checking the feeding mechanism for a moment, and then examining the rifling by lifting the barrel, Eugene continued to shout excitedly.

"Apart from these two M2 Lao Gan Ma guns, everything else is in top condition, almost new. Damn, there's even an M249 that's brand new. If I put these things on the second-floor terrace and the third-floor rooftop, even if thousands of zombies come, I can wipe them out!"

"Ha, that's a bit difficult, buddy."

Hearing Eugene's words, Gavin came to Eugene's side, gently patted Eugene's shoulder, and explained.

“The guns aren’t a problem. The gun shops in Richardtown do have some good stuff, but they don’t have much ammunition. I only found twenty-two boxes of machine gun ammunition.”

"But those are just the goods in the warehouse. There's still a basement in the gun shop that we haven't explored yet. I bet there are more bullets there, and the RPGs are probably hidden in the basement!"

"Oh ho, RPGs, I love those big treasures!"

Eugene excitedly stood up, hugged the M249 to his chest, and made a firing motion towards the ceiling.

But as he aimed at the ceiling, he happened to see Horst wiping the handrail on the second floor, so he quickly looked away, as if he were worried that the virus of cowardice might be transmitted to him from Horst.

Horst didn't notice Eugene's gaze; he just worked silently, occasionally glancing at the others.

While Horst worked in silence, Gavin pointed to the gun on the ground and said...

"Eugene, since you like these precious treasures so much, then their maintenance is in your hands."

"No problem, I dream of sleeping with them. Don't let my position as an observer fool you, my original intention for joining the army was actually to be a machine gunner, preferably like those machine gunners on Omaha Beach, it would be so damn awesome!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Eugene hurriedly picked up the M249 and headed towards the armory on the third floor.

Seeing Eugene walking further and further away, Martin paused for a moment, then quickly called out to Eugene.

"Hey, you bitch, you're just going to leave like that? Aren't you going to show Gavin what we got?"

"Leave me alone, I need to go to the armory with my 'first wife' and have some quality time!"

Eugene said without turning his head, then went straight into the armory.

After Eugene left, Gavin turned and went to the Raptor truck, looking at the five zombies piled up on the pickup.

At this moment, all five zombies were tightly bound, four of them had missing limbs, while the remaining zombie piled on top was intact.

After confirming the quantity, Gavin grabbed Martin's arm and laughed.

"You guys did a great job, you actually caught five of them."

At this point, Gavin waved to Steve.

"Steve, come with me. Let's take some stakes and nail the zombies to a safe spot for later use!"

At this point, Gavin casually pointed to the guns and ammunition boxes on the ground to the others.

"Guys, the ammo box is yours now, hurry up."

As soon as they finished speaking, Gavin and Steve drove to the vicinity of the stables, found some wooden stakes, used a chainsaw to cut and shape them, and threw them into the car.

Then, the two led the zombie to a spot about 300 meters to the left of the manor and huffed and puffed as they drove wooden stakes into the ground.

They picked up the zombies one by one and tied them all to the wooden stakes.

Gavin glanced at the strength of the zombies' struggles.

After confirming that the zombies wouldn't be able to break free of the dense ropes binding them for several days, Gavin patted his gloves, and Steve relaxed and said to Gavin.

"All done, we can go home for dinner now, boss. The good thing about not having a set menu is that I always look forward to what we'll eat!"

“That’s right, every meal could be a surprise. Doris’s cooking skills are definitely top-notch.”

Gavin patted Steve on the shoulder, then drove the car to the vicinity of the stable where the zombies had been held.

They parked the car, and Gavin and Steve went to the stable door, pushed it open, and peeked inside.

Sensing Gavin's approach, the zombie, which had been motionless just moments before, suddenly began to struggle wildly.

However, Gavin paid no attention to its futile struggles, because Gavin's gaze was fixed on the zombie's much darker skin.

When Gavin first captured the zombie, its skin looked exactly like a normal person's.

This is the current state of most zombies, because their skin still has time to show signs of decay.

And now, in just two days, the faces of the zombies bound to death in the warehouse have begun to show faint bluish-purple discoloration.

In those dark areas, Gavin even saw a few spots, like dermatitis, which finally made the zombies look somewhat disgusting!
Noticing the changes on the zombie's surface, Steve frowned and whispered.

"Boss, is that stuff on his face about to rot?"
