Chapter 72 The Power of Mandrake
In the distance, two people who were hiding with the Disillusionment Spell happened to see this scene.

Dewi whispered to Gandalf beside him, "Gandalf, do you want to take action?"

Gandalf shook his head slightly: "Wait a moment."

At the same time, the Goblin King also said this.

The Goblin King recognized Thorin's identity, and after mocking Thorin's misfortune, he ordered his men to send a message to Azog, King of the Orcs, to exchange Thorin for Azog's reward.

"Now!" Gandalf jumped directly in front of the goblin and cast a powerful magic shock wave, instantly overturning the goblin cave.

Countless goblins, including the Goblin King, were blown away by the shock wave.

Gandalf appeared before the dwarves like a savior, "Grab your weapons and run!"

There were tens of thousands of goblins in the cave. Although Gandalf had dealt with a group of them, they continued to pour in from all directions.

The group ran while dealing with the goblins that blocked their way, and also had to shake off the enemies that were chasing them madly from behind.

At this moment, the fallen Goblin King suddenly appeared in front of everyone, and his huge body blocked the way forward.

"Do you think you can escape? Don't even think about it!" The Goblin King waved a big stick angrily, his face ferocious and cruel.

Dense swarms of goblins surrounded them from all directions, blocking all the roads.

Everyone was suddenly in dire straits.

"Gandalf, what should we do?" The dwarf Balin placed his only hope on Gandalf.

Gandalf's face was calm, and he even smiled.

"Don't worry, we have helpers!"

"All petrified!"

The next second, a dazzling magic struck the Goblin King from behind.

The Goblin King's face was ferocious, his movements and expressions were instantly frozen, leaving only a pair of eyes showing fear and anxiety.

Dui appeared behind the Goblin King, drew out the flaming sword, and stabbed it into the Goblin King's lower back, releasing a scorching flame that instantly burned all of the Goblin King's internal organs to ashes.

As soon as the Goblin King died, the surrounding goblins fell silent for a moment, but then became angry.

"He killed the king! That wizard killed the king! We must avenge the king!"

All the goblins were frantic and restless, full of murderous intent and madness, and they attacked Dui and the others in overwhelming numbers.

"Protect everyone!" A circular barrier protected everyone and blocked the goblins outside.

The goblins attacked the magic barrier frantically, lying densely on the barrier, forming an impenetrable wall of flesh.

Seeing the goblins around unable to attack, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

However, seeing more and more goblins around, the dwarves became worried again.

"Duyle, what should we do now? They can't get in, but we can't get out either."

"Don't worry, I have a solution."

Dui soothed.

Then he took out a pot of mandrake from the leather bag.

Since the Mandrake matured, Dui has regularly bound it with a petrification spell to prevent it from making fatal sounds.

Now that he has learned the soundproofing spell from the spell book, it can finally be put to use.

Dui first cast several layers of soundproofing spells on himself and his companions, and then removed the petrification spell on the mandrake, grabbed the roots of the mandrake, and pulled hard.

The mandrake, which had accumulated resentment for so long, immediately vented its emotions wildly as soon as the spell was lifted, twisting its ugly body and making a shrill, sharp cry.

Even those protected by the soundproofing spell heard a piercing sound and couldn't help but cover their ears.

The goblins outside, on the other hand, were directly hit hard by the crying of the mandrake.

Under the attack of the deadly magic sound, the goblins at close range died instantly, and the goblins at further distance fell unconscious directly, falling into the abyss below like dumplings, and were smashed into meat paste.

The goblin cave suddenly became quiet, and there was no goblin standing.

Dui waved his wand and swept the goblin corpses piled around him into the abyss, then cast a petrification spell on the still crying Mandrake, making it quiet down again.

Only then were the soundproofing spells on everyone lifted. "Alright, everyone's safe now."

The dwarves looked at the goblin corpses everywhere in shock, and then looked at the humanoid plant in Dui's hand with awe on their faces.

The power of this plant is simply terrifying!

"Oh my God, what on earth is this thing? Its sound actually killed so many goblins!" The dwarf Balin was stunned.

"Its voice is so terrifying! I could hear it even through the magic. It was like the voice of a female ghost. I felt so light and airy, as if my soul was about to be drawn out!" Philip said with a lingering fear on his face, "I can't imagine what it would be like to really hear its voice!"

"If you really heard it, you will end up like those goblins." Balin rolled his eyes at him in annoyance.

"Since this thing makes such a loud noise, when we get to Lonely Mountain, why don't we just throw it at the dragon and kill it right away?" The youngest dwarf, Qili, excitedly proposed the idea.

Hearing Qili's idea, all the dwarves' eyes suddenly lit up, and they looked at the mandrake in Dui's hand with burning eyes.

Thorin was even more hopeful. If he could really get rid of the dragon in this way, he wouldn't have to look for the Arkenstone to summon the dwarves, and he could directly take back the Lonely Mountain.

But the next moment, Gandalf gave a negative answer.

Gandalf was also very surprised at the power of the Mandrake's voice, but he still shook his head.

"The sound of this mandrake cultivated by Duil contains magical power that can strike a heavy blow to the soul and is fatal to most creatures."

"But a powerful creature like the dragon Smaug has an extremely strong and solid soul. Even the sound of the mandrake cannot kill him. At most, it can only seriously injure him, and that only when he is off guard."

Gandalf's words were convincing.

The dwarves were disappointed after hearing this, and Thorin even withdrew his gaze from the mandrake.

"Let's go, get out of here first."

"Don't worry." Dewi shook his head and reminded, "Bilbo hasn't found it yet."

"Oh yeah, where's Bilbo?"

"Bilbo? Hasn't he always been with us?"

"We haven't seen him since we were captured by the goblins."

The dwarves finally reacted and started talking at once.

Gandalf also frowned, "Has anyone seen Bilbo?"

The dwarves shook their heads.

"Oh, my God, could Bilbo have heard the plant crying just now?" The dwarf Balin seemed to have thought of something, took a cold breath, and said in horror.

The other dwarves widened their eyes and looked at Dui in horror.

Gandalf looked at Dewi with some worry when he heard this.

Dewi shook his head: "Don't worry, I only made sure Bilbo wasn't here before I played the mandrake sound."

"Not here? Then where did he go?"

Dui pointed to the abyss below.

"I saw him fall from the Stone of Palantir."

Seeing everyone's expression change, he continued to add:
"Don't worry, he's lucky. He didn't get hurt at all except for some scrapes."

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when they heard this.

"Wizard Duyle, next time please speak in one breath. It's really scary!"

"I'll try my best." Dui answered insincerely.

"By the way, Doyle, use your Palantir to find out where Bilbo is. Let's go find him."

Dui took out the crystal ball and examined it carefully, and others also gathered around.

"Strange, why can't I see Bilbo?" Dewi frowned, looking puzzled.

The crystal ball showed the scene at the bottom of the abyss, but there was no sign of Bilbo.
