Chapter 56: Battle with the Ogre
Destroyed five trolls and obtained the locations of other nearby troll caves.

Dui and Gandalf were about to go there to see if there were any living people in the other troll caves.
However, looking at the villagers who had just escaped death and were in a panic, the two of them couldn't just leave them alone.

"Duir, why don't you take the villagers out of the forest first, and I will go find those trolls alone?" Gandalf suggested.

Dui shook his head and said, "No need to go through so much trouble." Then he hissed towards the cave exit.

The cold and slippery voice echoed in the empty cave hall, making the villagers feel uneasy.

What terrified them even more was that a giant python as thick as a bucket quickly crawled out of the cave entrance, its huge body big enough to swallow them in one bite.

"Don't worry, it obeys my orders now and will not hurt you." Seeing the villagers frightened, Dui explained to everyone.

Gandalf also came out to give assurances, which made the villagers feel a little relieved, but they also stayed away from the giant python.

"Soon the python will lead you out of the forest and onto the road outside the forest. Then you can follow the road back to the village or go anywhere else." Dui said again.

"But our village has been destroyed. Where can we go?" Edward, a young villager, said sadly and bewilderedly, looking at Dui and Gandalf hopefully. "Can I follow you, Master Wizard? I can do anything for you, even serve you tea and water, or be your slave or servant!"

The other villagers also looked at the two of them hopefully.

"I'm sorry, we have other things to do and will face more dangers. I'm afraid we can't take care of you." Gandalf shook his head and rejected the request of young Edward.

The villagers were disappointed upon hearing this and were filled with confusion and anxiety about the future.

"However, after you leave the forest, you can follow the road across the last bridge and head west. On the hills west of the wasteland, there is a giant tower a thousand feet high. That is the territory of the wizard Duir, and you can settle there."

"Gandalf?" Dewi looked at him in surprise. He didn't expect him to make such a suggestion.

Gandalf sighed and explained to Dewi:
"Their village has been destroyed, and this place is no longer safe. Besides the threat of trolls, there are also orcs who may come down the mountain to plunder at any time. These dark creatures will show no mercy to the villagers. If they want to survive, they can only migrate westward and find a lord or force to rely on."

"Now that dark forces are surging, I foresee that all of Middle-earth will be in turmoil and ravaged by war. With you, the black-robed wizard, at the helm of Windcloud Summit, it will become a new safe haven, protecting them from the ravages of war."

"Gandalf, you are too kind!" Dewi smiled bitterly and shook his head, but for Gandalf's sake, he did not resist it anymore.

Besides, people may not be willing to take the risk of traveling thousands of miles across the wilderness to settle in a place where there is nothing but a tower.

Dui looked at the uneasy villagers below, thought for a while, and decided to lead everyone to the cave where the ogre hid the treasure, and distributed some of the gold and silver coins to the villagers.

The villagers took the gold and silver coins they had been given, feeling dizzy and as if they were dreaming. They had never seen so much money before, and the gold coins alone were enough to keep them fed and clothed for the rest of their lives.

"You just heard what Gandalf and I said. With this money, you can go anywhere and live a comfortable life for the rest of your life. So I have two suggestions for you to consider," Dui said to the villagers.

"First, you can build a boat and sail down the Cangquan River from the last bridge to the human kingdom in the south."

"The second option is to cross the last bridge and head west, following the East-West Road straight ahead, through the wasteland to near Weathertop, or continue west to Bree."

Then he distributed some of the armor and weapons collected by the trolls to the villagers so that they could have some ability to protect themselves on the road.

After doing all this, Dui asked the python to lead the villagers out of the Ogre Forest, to the main road and then back.

And he strictly forbade it from having any thoughts of eating the villagers. In order to appease the gluttonous python, Dui had no choice but to personally dismember the monstrous creature to prevent it from becoming too large and killing the greedy snake.

Ogres have strong defenses. Even if they are completely dead, the thick layer of scales on their bodies cannot be broken by ordinary swords and knives. The muscles and bones under the scales are as hard as stone.

Dui used his sharpest flaming sword and it took him a lot of effort to dismember a ogre.

The giant python that had swallowed one of the ogre's arms, with its bloated belly filled with satisfaction, slowly left with a group of shivering villagers, intending to return to enjoy the remaining food after sending these humans to the main road.

Dui did not stop dismembering the ogre. He pulled out the ogre's nerves and took out the huge black heart, sealing it in a glass jar created by transfiguration.

Trolls are dark creatures that turn to stone when exposed to the sun. Dui wanted to see if their nerves could be used to make wand cores. And could their hearts also be used as a potion ingredient?
Dewi placed the troll's heart and nerves together with the troll's treasure and hid them with magic.

These things were inconvenient to carry, so he planned to come back and collect them later.

Due and Gandalf did not delay any further and headed to the next nearest troll cave based on the information provided by the trolls.

When Due and Gandalf found the second troll cave, this time it did not bring them good news.

When they sneaked into the cave in stealth, they saw only two ogres and a pile of bones.

All the captured villagers were eaten up at once by the two greedy ogres.

When he saw this result, Gandalf was very angry, and his tremendous power broke through the Disillusionment Spell and appeared directly.

"Duyr, can you lend me your flaming sword?"

Dui did not hesitate and immediately drew out the flaming sword and handed it to him.

The flaming sword fell into Gandalf's hands, and it immediately ignited with golden flames, emitting a dazzling light like the sun.

"No, it's the sunlight!" The ogre was horrified when he saw the dazzling light. His gray-green skin showed signs of petrification after being exposed to the light, and became gray and stiff.

But the light released by the Fire of Arnor is not real sunlight after all. Although it has a certain restraint on the trolls, it cannot really turn them into stone.

Gandalf was very agile and nimble. He swung his flaming sword and chopped at the ankle of a ogre.

In an instant, a cut was made on the ogre's leg, leaving a burn mark.

"Ouch, it hurts! My foot!" The ogre screamed in pain.

The troll tried to crush Gandalf to death with his foot, but Gandalf quickly dodged and inflicted another wound on his foot with his sword.

Seeing his companion injured, another ogre grabbed a huge tree that was more than ten meters long and used it as a club to hit Gandalf.

"Except your weapons!"

Before the stick could come down, it broke free from the ogre's hand and flew out.
