Chapter 364 111th Birthday

Huge tents were set up at the gathering place, where elderly people sat on benches, drinking beer and chatting about trivial matters.

The young hobbits, meanwhile, danced country dances to cheerful and lighthearted country music.

The children, meanwhile, roamed freely among the crowd, playing and laughing.

Compared to the bustling gathering place, Bag End was rather quiet.

Bilbo wore a pale yellow shirt, his appearance unchanged, just like decades ago, and he was healthy and agile.

Only his demeanor has changed, as if he has been tempered and refined by time, exuding a sense of calm and serenity.

He sat on the sofa, looking at the adventure notebook in his hand with a sense of nostalgia. It recorded the adventures of the Lonely Mountain Expedition.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door of Bag Bottom.

Then a young hobbit came in. He had delicate features, bright eyes, and a thick head of brown curly hair.

“Uncle Bilbo, the banquet has begun, and everyone is waiting for you,” Frodo urged with a smile.

Bilbo turned and saw him, his eyes filled with affection. He placed a golden turquoise leaf bookmark between the pages he was reading, and then closed the book.

“I celebrate my birthday every year, so it won’t make a difference if I’m a little late,” he said, shaking his head nonchalantly. His gaze was fixed on the fireplace, full of anticipation. “Besides, my guests haven’t all arrived yet. I’ll go over together with them after I pick them up.”

"Guests? Are there any more guests coming today?" Frodo asked in surprise.

"Of course, otherwise I wouldn't be holding a birthday party. Do you think I enjoy chatting with those guys in the village who are always trying to snoop on my property?"

Frodo didn't respond to his uncle's comments about the neighbors and relatives, but instead asked curiously, "Uncle, who is the guest you're waiting for? Why are you waiting here so solemnly?"

Before Bilbo could answer, the fireplace flames turned green.

Bilbo's eyes lit up, and he stood up excitedly, saying, "Our guest has arrived!"

As soon as he finished speaking, a delicate and beautiful child emerged from the green flames.

Around eleven or twelve years old, with long black hair cascading down her back, her head bound by an exquisite silver headband, her skin snow-white, making her androgynous, with only a hint of heroic spirit between her brows.

In the dim night, it seemed to be emitting a faint glow.

He stepped out from behind the fireplace and greeted them with elegance and politeness: "Uncle Bilbo, happy birthday!"

"Elseth!" Bilbo exclaimed with delight. "I'm so glad you could come to my birthday party!"

He gave Elseth a big hug, showing great affection and fondness for the child who was almost as tall as him.

"Where are your father and the others? Are they behind us?"

Elseth also liked this hobbit uncle very much, and nodded: "Dad and Ellos are behind us. Uncle Bilbo, this is my birthday present for you. I hope you like it."

As he spoke, he handed over a small gift box.

Bilbo was even more delighted. "Oh, dear Elseth, I'll love whatever you give me!"

As he spoke, he opened the gift box and saw a small medicine bottle containing golden liquid inside. He was immediately surprised and incredulous.

"What is this?" "It's a Fuling potion I made, which can bring good luck for 24 hours."

"Oh, this is really too precious!" Bilbo felt the gift was so heavy that he hesitated to accept it for a moment.

He knew the wonder and preciousness of Felix Felicis; he had used the small bottle of Felix Felicis that Duir had given him when he accidentally got lost in Frodo.

He still vividly remembers that magical experience, not only finding the lost Frodo but also having a very lucky day.

“Take it, Bilbo. This is Elses’ gift. He specially prepared the Felix Felicis potion more than half a year in advance to give to you as a 111th birthday present,” Dui’s voice came from the fireplace.

He appeared smiling in the green fire of the fireplace, with his young daughter Ellos by his side.

"Duir! Ellos! You've come!" Bilbo shouted happily.

“Happy birthday, Uncle Bilbo! I have a present for you too!” Ellos let go of Dui’s hand, ran quickly out of the fireplace, and took out a gift box from her pocket that was larger than Else’s gift.

Ellos looks almost exactly like Elseth, the only difference being that she has gray eyes, long black hair that is much longer than Elseth's, and an elven crown given to her by her great-grandmother.

Compared to her composed twin brother Elseth, Ellos, the younger sister, is lively and cheerful. She is an adorable and joyful little elf, loved by everyone, and carefree.

The twins are now 38 years old, but they still look like they are eleven or twelve years old. They graduated from Hogwarts last year.

Elses possessed exceptional talent in potions and was assigned to the Basilisk Academy upon entering the college. He was the prized student of the Basilisk Academy's Dean and Potions Professor, Elses.

From the time he enrolled to graduation, there has never been a potion he couldn't make, and now he is even trying to create new potions in order to qualify as a Potions Master.

Of course, Elses excelled in other subjects as well, and even showed remarkable talent in dark magic.

However, potion-making was more dazzling and was Elseth's favorite type of magic, so he chose to focus on potion-making.

As for her younger sister Ellos, she preferred alchemy.

Bilbo opened Ellos's gift box, inside was a chess set.

However, unlike ordinary chess, this chess set has two types of pieces: black and white. The white pieces include human kings, elves, and dwarves, while the black pieces include orcs riding dire wolves, trolls, and ringwraiths.

These chess pieces come to life when they are placed on the square chessboard. They can talk and think, just like a miniature battlefield where they fight each other against each other.

The orcs and trolls were so lifelike, howling and full of evil and cruelty, that Bilbo was startled when he saw them, and immediately recalled his experience of encountering orcs and being kidnapped by trolls during his expedition.

“Uncle Bilbo, this is a wizard chess game I made. You can play as one person or as two people together,” Ellos introduced with a smile. “And if you’re playing alone, I highly recommend that you choose the black side.”

"Why did you suggest I choose the black side?" Bilbo asked, puzzled.

Ellos winked with a grin: "Because if you randomly command the ugly black side, you can see those orks, trolls, and ringwraiths getting wrecked by the white pieces. That would be very satisfying, and even if you lose, you won't be disappointed."

Upon hearing this reason, Bilbo was both amused and exasperated, but he still thanked him, saying, "Thank you, dear Ellos, I love your gift!"

When it was Dui's turn to give a gift, he simply took out a bottle of magic potion and said with a smile, "My gift has no surprises, it's the same as before, and happy 111th birthday! My friend."

Looking at the elixir of immortality that Dui handed over, Bilbo exclaimed, "This gift is something countless people dream of; it's far more precious than any surprise!"
