Chapter 297 Going North
Dui breathed a sigh of relief upon returning to the city of Eusgilias.

He had just sensed a terrifying force heading towards Minas Morgul from the Mordor region, and knew it was Sauron who had made his move. Without hesitation, he turned and teleported away.

If you can't win, just run away, especially against a big boss like Sauron; there's no shame in that.

Not to mention, this time they not only completed the check-in, but also successfully destroyed the fortress of Minas Morgul.

Without this fortress, Mordor could no longer use it as a base to freely invade Gondor and other places.

They walked north along the main road until they reached the border between Gondor and Rohan.

This place is called Argonath, and on either side of the Anduin River stand two enormous stone statues, representing the two kings, Isildur and Anarion, the first rulers of Gondor.

With their left palms facing outwards and their right hands holding weapons, they faced north in a warning gesture, indicating to the enemy to stop.

Here, Dui checked in and obtained the method for making a two-way mirror.

After crossing Aganas, they entered Rohan and continued northward.

We passed the confluence of the Ent River and the Anduin River.

The confluence here is unique. At its lower end, the Ent River fanns out and splits into seven tributaries that flow into the Anduin River, forming a beautiful and fertile alluvial plain.

When passing through rivers that cannot be traversed, the winged horses pulling the carriages will unfold invisible wings and fly low over the river, making it appear as if they are traveling on the river itself.

They continued north along the Anduin River and arrived at Lauros Falls.

Due to the huge drop between the gloomy hills and the plains below, the Andoin River rushes into the abyss, forming a spectacular waterfall nearly a thousand meters high, with a roaring sound that can be heard even from a great distance.

Dui and Alvin drove their carriage to the foot of the falls to admire the magnificent Lauros Falls.

The waterfall's mist, illuminated by the sun, forms a giant rainbow spanning the abyss like a bridge.

After lingering at the foot of the waterfall for a while, the Pegasus pulled the carriage across the falls and arrived at Lake Nenhis Air above the waterfall.

Lake Nyxel was formed when the Anduin River overflowed its narrow valley as it flowed out of the gloomy hills. Its misty atmosphere perpetually shrouded the area, hence its name, the Lake of the Mist.

The lake was beautiful. Dui and Alvin stopped their carriage on the Pascalin meadow on the shore, where they enjoyed the view of the misty lake while learning about what they had learned from their journey.

Speaking of the Lake of Mist, Duy couldn't help but think of the place where Boromir, the eldest son of the Regent of Gondor, died in the War of the Ring in order to protect the hobbits Merry and Pippin.

Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli held a boat burial for him, loading his body and personal belongings onto an elven boat, which then sank into the falls. However, thanks to the elves' unique shipbuilding skills, Boromir's burial boat miraculously did not sink into the falls, but instead sailed past them, carrying him all the way to the sea. His brother Faramir witnessed the boat on the lower Anduin River.

Boromir's father is Denether II, the current regent of Gondor.

Because of Boromir's death, Denethor II was heartbroken and became negative in his resistance against Mordor's army. Ultimately, when his other son, Faramir, was seriously injured and in a state of apparent death, he chose to immolate himself.

After spending half a day at the Misty Lake, Dui and Alwen continued their journey.

Pegasus spread its wings and pulled the carriage, flying close to the river in the canyon, all the way to the dangerous rapids of Saengabir.

Saen Ghabir is a Sindarin name meaning "rock spikes." The entire treacherous shoal stretches for several miles, with sharp, stake-like rock spikes standing upright in the swift current. No boat can pass safely, day or night.

Having crossed the treacherous Sanghabir shoals, Dui and Alwen's carriage traveled north across the brownfield wasteland east of the Anduin River.

The brownfields were a desolate wasteland, evoking a sense of vast deserts and the setting sun over a long river.

This place was once a lush land. In ancient times, when the darkness of Morgoth descended upon the north, the female Entvarins crossed the Anduin River and cultivated gardens and fields on this land.

After Morgoth was overthrown, the region prospered even more.

Every breeding season, the male Ents cross the Anduin River to meet the Entwomen here.

However, during the final battle of the Second Age, Sauron implemented a scorched-earth policy to stop the advance of the Last Alliance army, sending a large army to completely destroy the land, turning it into a wasteland, which has been known as the Brownlands ever since.

For more than three thousand years thereafter, this place remained uninhabited and barren.

The Ents who originally lived here have also disappeared without a trace, leaving only male Ents among the tree people, and the race can no longer reproduce.

As Alwen slowly recounted these ancient histories, Dui gazed at the boundless, desolate land and couldn't help but feel sorry for it.

Sauron is truly inhumane; he has destroyed a perfectly good land, turning it into a desolate wasteland.

Celeborn and Galadriel were delighted by the arrival of the two.
