Chapter 295 Bloodline Magic

"Your Excellency Duir and Lady, welcome to Minas Tirith! His Highness the Regent has ordered us to await your arrival here. Please follow me," a head servant said respectfully.

Duy was not surprised that the Regent of Gondor knew of his arrival. After all, the naval commander of Perakil, as a confidant of the Regent, would certainly have informed the Regent of his arrival immediately.

Not to mention, there is a True Knowledge Crystal in the city of Minas Tirith, which can be used to observe the situation throughout Gondor.

So they drove their carriage into the city, guided by their attendants.

Minas Tirith is built on a mountainside in a terraced fashion, backed by a white mountain range, and has seven levels.

Moreover, each level has its own independent walls and entrances, which are also bronze gates, extremely sturdy, and have never been breached since their construction, thus being regarded as a symbol of the spirit of Gondor.

Following the winding road upwards, the carriage passed through a glittering gate and finally arrived at the royal city on the seventh floor.

This area also contains important buildings such as the Tower of Exelian, the Palace of Gondor, and the Banquet Hall.

Especially in the center of the fountain courtyard in front of the palace, there is a white tree that has been withered for a long time.

When the carriage arrived at the White Tree, Dui got off and helped his wife, Alvin, down as well.

Because there was also a Sacred White Tree at Fengyun Peak, Dui and Alwen couldn't help but look at the withered Sacred White Tree.

Even though it had been withered for a long time, this sacred white tree showed no signs of decay and remained as white as jade.

"This is the third White Tree in Gondor. When Gondor was struck by the Great Plague, the second White Tree unfortunately withered and died. The twenty-seventh King, Talondor, planted a new sapling. When the twenty-first Grand Vizier, Belekor II, died, this White Tree also withered and has remained to this day."

Prince Dineseer II, who had previously attended Dui and Alwen's wedding, descended the palace steps and introduced them to the couple with a smile.

"I didn't expect to meet you again so soon, Wizard Duir, Lady Alwen, welcome to Minas Tirith!"

Dui and Alvin exchanged pleasantries with Dinese II, and then, under his guidance, arrived at the Royal Palace's State Hall.

They met Regent Exelian II, who was sitting on a black stone chair.

Higher behind him was a canopy made of white marble, shaped like a royal crown. Behind it, on the wall, were carved the White Tree of Gondor, adorned with blooming flowers and jewels.

Several hundred years ago, due to the disappearance of the last king and his lack of an heir, coupled with internal strife within the royal family, no one with pure blood could be found to inherit the throne.

Thus, Gondor began to govern under the Grand Vizier, entering a period of regency, which marked the end of the Gondorian royal family's rule.

The first regent swore to protect the throne until the king returned, so a new throne was erected beneath the original one to demonstrate his loyalty to the King of Gondor.

Thus, successive regents chose to sit below the throne, becoming "uncrowned kings" with royal power but no throne, ruling Gondor.

“Welcome, welcome to Gondor, Wizard Duir. I have long admired your name, and seeing you today, I can confirm your extraordinary reputation!” said Regent Exelian.

Despite being over sixty years old, Emperor Exelian II still appears to be in good health and speaks with a deep, resonant voice.

They welcomed Dui and Alvin with a friendly attitude.

I was also very impressed and had great respect for Alvin when I saw her.

As the regent of Gondor and a descendant of the Númenóreans, he naturally knew that Elroth, the founder of the Númenórean kingdom, and Elrond, the father of the elven lady before him, were brothers. In a sense, the elven lady before him had historical ties to the kingdom of Gondor and the royal family, and could be considered an "ancestor."

Not to mention Elrond's pivotal position in Middle-earth.

So if Dui won Exelian II's attention because of his great strength, then Alwen earned Exelian II's respect entirely because of her special status.

“Your Highness Regent, I have long heard of your duty to protect Gondor. Today, my wife and I have come to Gondor for a visit. Please forgive us if we have disturbed you,” Dui said formally, nodding.

Alvin also greeted him gracefully and stood silently beside Dui.

“No need for such formalities, Wizard Duir. Gandalf is also a friend of mine, and he speaks highly of you. We just haven’t met you before. Now that you have come to Gondor, we are naturally more than happy to welcome you!” Exelian II stepped down from his throne and said with a smile.

He then turned to his son, Dineseer II, and instructed him, "We have distinguished guests arriving today. Have the servants prepare a banquet to welcome our guests."

King Denesse II nodded and turned to make arrangements for his servants.

Exelian continued, "Now that you've come to Minas Tirith, please stay here for a few more days so I can do my best to be a good host."

"Then thank you very much, Your Highness the Regent!" Dui accepted Exelian's kindness and thanked him.

Then, led by Exelian, they went to the banquet hall to attend the feast.

At the banquet, both hosts and guests enjoyed themselves immensely in a friendly atmosphere.

As the banquet reached its climax, Regent Exelian said with a somewhat solemn expression:
“Witch Doctor Duir, you should have seen the withered white tree in the fountain courtyard. The white tree is a symbol of Gondor’s royal power. Since the white tree withered, generations of ancestors have tried to find a new white tree, but all have failed.”

"And your Hogwarts Castle has a living white tree, so I have a favor to ask: I would like to request a white tree fruit so that it can be replanted in the courtyard, replacing the withered white tree that is now there."

Upon hearing Exelian's words, Dui did not refuse, but still reminded him, "Your Highness, I can give you the fruit of the Holy White Tree, but its growing conditions are extremely demanding. You should be prepared that it may never sprout."

Exelian nodded, sighed, and said, "I know. I just want to fulfill the last wish of my ancestors. If it doesn't sprout, I'll accept my fate."

Seeing this, Dui said nothing more, took out a silver fruit from his spatial pocket, and handed it to Exelian.

The White Tree is much like a Tree of Fortune, bound to the destiny of a person or nation in some mysterious way. Just like the White Tree of Gondor, when Gondor is powerful, the White Tree is very lush, but when it declines, the White Tree withers.

Gondor is now inevitably weakening, and Dui has a premonition that even if the seeds of the White Tree are planted, they will hardly take root and sprout.

The seeds will not awaken and take root until the kingdom is restored to its former glory.

[Hogwarts Check-in System: Locating Gondor-Minas Tirith, check-in required?]

The system responded at this time.

Dui silently thought to himself, "Sign in."

[Sign-in successful! Congratulations on obtaining Bloodline Magic!]

Bloodline magic? Dui was stunned for a moment, but after receiving the knowledge and memories, he couldn't help but feel overjoyed.
