Chapter 264 The Battle of Gondor
The Gondorian capital city of Minas Tirith is built on a hillside, arranged in a stepped pattern, with the white mountains as its backdrop.

The city is divided into seven levels, each with its own walls and entrances. The entrances are not in a straight line; the roads leading into the fortress meander around the hills to slow down the enemy's advance.

Minas Tirith is a city that is easy to defend and difficult to attack; it has never been captured since its founding.

It has always been considered the most fortified fortress in Gondor.

But now that Mordor's army is at the city gates, all the soldiers and civilians in the city are filled with fear and despair as they look at those dozen or so enormous cold dragons.

But just then, Gandalf, riding Shadow, arrived swiftly from the rear of Mordor's army.

The Shadow's speed was as fast as the wind, leaving only a blur, giving the Orks no chance to stop it.

Gandalf rode his Swift Shadow, moving swiftly through Mordor's army as if it were nothing.

He held his staff high in one hand, emitting a dazzling holy light.

The holy light caused the Orks, trolls, and other creatures that were touched by it to retreat in fear. Even the powerful orcs and Ogre trolls, who were specially bred by Saruman and Sauron and were not afraid of sunlight, dared not approach.

Far behind him was a Gondorian army of several thousand men.

They were all Gondor soldiers whom Gandalf had reorganized along the way.

Gandalf rekindled their courage and hope, and they brandished their weapons, charging fearlessly towards Mordor's army.

Even though Mordor's army outnumbered them tenfold, they remained fearless.

Gandalf charged ahead, plunging deep into Mordor's army.

He held a staff in one hand and a sword to strike the enemy in the other.

The dazzling holy light blinded the surrounding Mordor soldiers, while he brandished his sword with his other hand, slaying Mordor soldiers along the way.

Finally, he rushed to the side of a huge cold dragon, leaped off his horse, jumped onto the dragon's back, and nimbly climbed onto the dragon's back.

The cold dragon noticed Gandalf and immediately turned its head to bite him.

Gandalf, however, did not flinch. He unleashed a dazzling holy light that blinded the cold dragon, then used his staff to press against the dragon's upper and lower jaws. He then thrust his sword fiercely into the dragon's upper jaw until the blade was almost completely embedded.

With another forceful stir, Leng Long's body instantly stiffened, and then he collapsed headfirst, completely motionless.

Gandalf drew his sword and pulled out the staff that had been pressed against the cold dragon's jaws. He took a breath, then took out his flying broom from his pouch, mounted it, and charged toward the other cold dragon that was attacking the city.

As for his mount, Swift Shadow, Gandalf had no reason to worry about it.

It moved like a gust of wind, swiftly weaving through the Mordor army, giving them no chance to catch it.

The Regent in the city was delighted to see Gandalf so easily defeat the cold dragon.

He immediately ordered the troops guarding the city to leave and meet up with Gandalf and the reinforcements to fight the enemy together.

Meanwhile, Gondor soldiers on the city walls also assisted with arrows and stones.

Gandalf rode on his flying broomstick and quickly arrived among the cold dragons, constantly provoking them to attract their attention.

Thanks to their agile flight, the cold dragons were unable to defeat Gandalf.

Then, taking advantage of the cold dragons' unpreparedness, he released holy light to blind them.

For a time, Leng Long, who had lost sight of him, became agitated and attacked aimlessly in all directions.

As a result, the Mordor soldiers around them suffered the consequences. The cold dragon's tail lashed out everywhere, sending all the orcs and trolls flying, and also trampling many orcs to death.

Faced with more than a dozen cold dragons, Gandalf could not possibly kill them all in one go.

So he quickly flew to the city of Minas Tirith, went directly to the palace on the seventh floor, and found the regent.

"Your Highness, please quickly use the catapult to pour the flammable oil barrels onto those cold dragons and use fire to deal with them."

Without hesitation, the regent immediately ordered the collection of oil barrels from the city, which were then taken to the city walls and hurled at the cold dragons using catapults.

The oil drum crashed down on Leng Long, shattering and soaking him in oil.

Seeing this, Gandalf activated the power of the Ring of Fire, causing the swords and arrows of the Gondor soldiers to burst into flames.

At a command, flaming arrows shot toward the Cold Dragon Gate.

Meanwhile, the Gondor soldiers, wielding burning swords, charged towards the orc army.

Although the rockets couldn't penetrate the Cold Dragon's hard scales, they ignited the oil on its body, and the fire spread rapidly, turning the Cold Dragon into a "fire dragon."

The cold dragon, engulfed in flames, let out a painful howl and rampaged through Mordor's army.

Not only did they trample many Mordor soldiers to death, but they also set everything flammable on fire along the way.

In an instant, flames soared into the sky among Mordor's army, and morale plummeted.

Upon seeing this, the Regent was overjoyed and immediately ordered the Gondorian army to launch a full-scale attack.

The Mordor army, which was in chaos and outnumbered Gondor's army several times over, had lost its morale and was attacked from both sides by Gondor's army, and began to retreat in defeat.

Gandalf, riding his flying broomstick, dodged the arrows as he searched for the generals of Mordor's army.

They quickly spotted the Orc leader directing operations from the rear and immediately rushed over.

Suddenly, a dense rain of arrows shot towards Gandalf.

At the same time, they cut down the banner of Mordor's army.

The leaderless army of Mordor collapsed completely, abandoning all fighting and fleeing back towards Mordor.

The Gondorian army gave chase.

Gandalf, however, refocused his attention on the cold dragons.

Although these cold dragons were engulfed in flames, they were not dead and continued to go berserk.

Cold dragons have strong defenses; although flames can cause them pain, they cannot kill them.

Perhaps the rout of Mordor's army gave these cold dragons a clue, reminding them of the Anduin River in the east.

He immediately fled frantically eastward, hoping to extinguish the flames on his body with the waters of the Anduin River.

Gandalf, of course, did not want to let these cold dragons go, and followed in their direction.

During the pursuit, Gandalf killed two more cold dragons with his sword.

But before he could continue his pursuit of the Cold Dragon, the Mordor army stationed in the city of Osgiliath, which spans the Anduin River, launched a counterattack.

The Mordor army stationed here includes not only Orks and Trolls, but also the Eastern Barbarians from the eastern Rune region, as well as the Harads and Henmunnors from the south.

There were even a few cold dragons in Othgiliath, using their massive bodies as bridges to allow the Mordor army to travel freely across the Anduin River.

The pursuing Gondorian army failed to capture Eustriath after a prolonged siege.

The morale of Gondor's army plummeted.

If they cannot recapture Osgiliath, then the Mordor army can advance unimpeded into Gondor's capital and other places without any natural barriers.

Gandalf, naturally unable to stand idly by and watch the Gondorian army fall, immediately returned to the Gondorian ranks to boost morale.

The cold dragons, surrounded by flames, finally escaped into the Anduin River and extinguished the flames on their bodies.

Just as the armies of Gondor and Mordor were locked in a stalemate, a hippogriff from the north broke the deadlock on the battlefield.

“Your Majesty Sengir, what a pleasant surprise!” Gandalf spotted the King of Rohan riding on the back of a hippogriff and flew over on his broomstick to greet him.

"Does this mean the crisis in Rohan has been resolved?"

King Sengir and Gandalf were old acquaintances. He smiled and nodded, his face full of gratitude, saying, "It is all thanks to the wizard Duir and the warriors of the Black Barbarians that we were able to repel the Mordor army that attacked Rohan. Afterwards, they went to Isengard to provide support, and now they have finally arrived to rescue Gondor."

"Supporting Eisengard?" Gandalf frowned, surprised and doubtful. "Could it be that Saruman attacked Eisengard?"

King Senggeer nodded and then shook his head, saying with lingering fear:

“It wasn’t just Saruman; he also brought a frost dragon at least ten times larger than Smaug, as well as dozens of demonic dragons and eight Black Riders of Mordor (Ringwraiths)!”

Gandalf was also taken aback by King Sengir's words.

However, seeing King Senger here put his mind at ease.

"You're here because Eisengard has won?"

King Sengir nodded, his face filled with reverence, and said, "The wizard Duir is incredibly powerful! He killed that frost dragon and slaughtered all the other dragons, except for Saruman, who escaped."

As he spoke, he added with a hint of reminiscence, "Moreover, the wizard Duir generously treated us to dragon meat, and now we are all full of energy."

"It's a real shame I missed this grand event," Gandalf said with a regretful smile.

After learning about each other's situations, the two didn't chat much and immediately joined the battle.

King Sengir mounted his warhorse, bid farewell to the warriors of the Black Wilds and the hippogriffs who had brought him there, and led the Rohan cavalry to attack the army of Mordor.

With the addition of the Rohan cavalry, the morale of the Gondorian allied forces was greatly boosted.

Gandalf, on the other hand, flew to the Osgilias Bridge, which spans the Anduin River, and, wielding his staff and sword, drove back the enemies on the bridge.

He struck the bridge with his staff, instantly collapsing the wide stone bridge and sending all the Mordor soldiers on it tumbling into the river.

Only Gandalf remained suspended in mid-air on his flying broomstick.

Then he looked at the cold dragon in the Anduin River. This time, he did not attack it directly, but instead chanted a spell while facing the Anduin River.

As the chanting echoed through the air, the mighty Anduin River suddenly fell silent.

The cold dragon in the water was the first to feel uneasy and tried to run to the shore.

But before they could escape to the shore, a monstrous flood surged upstream, sweeping the cold dragons away with terrifying force.

Even the massive Cold Dragon was powerless to struggle against the flood.

Sweeped downstream by the flood, they followed the river all the way to the sea.

The sea seemed to disapprove of their arrival, and the surging undercurrents dragged them into the deep sea, where they eventually disappeared without a trace.
