Chapter 228 Sauron's Arrival

Chapter 228 Sauron's Arrival
Dui felt like throwing up after being tossed and turned in the sky by the tornado.

"Romeo! Think of something! Do you have any ideas?" Dui shouted to his companion, but his voice was almost drowned out by the huge howling wind around him.

Romisdanus held his frail friend Morida in his arms, but still heard Dui's words.

He didn't speak, but his voice went directly into Dui's mind: "You protect Morida in a moment, and then release me outside your magical barrier. I will use all my strength to stop the tornado."

"Are you sure?" Dui asked in surprise, knowing that the sandstorm outside was powerful enough to tear a person apart.

But Romisdanus gave an affirmative answer.

Since that was the case, Dui chose to trust him and released Romisdanu outside the magic shield.

Romisdanus was instantly swept into the gale-force winds by the tornado, like a falling leaf, and spun around in the whirlwind.

Dui looked worried upon seeing this.

But soon, a faint, mysterious incantation echoed through the tornado.

The next second, a dazzling light flashed from the center of the tornado, and a massive magical shockwave exploded out instantly.

The raging tornado was brought to a standstill by the immense force, and was blasted in half, creating a huge vacuum area.

At the center of the vacuum array, Romistanus hovered there, staff in hand, his blue robe torn to shreds and covered in countless scratch-like marks.

Without the support of the tornado, Romisdanu plummeted to the ground in the next second.

Dui, along with Moreda inside the magic shield, also fell.

He rushed toward Romisdanu, reintegrated him into the magical shield, and just before he hit the ground, cast a spell to slow the impact and land gently.

Even after landing safely, Dui couldn't relax, because Saruman and the Ringwraiths attacked again.

"Give up resistance, Duir. Look at what you can do. Like a caged beast, you're just making futile struggles..." Saruman tried to hypnotize Duir with a suggestive voice, hoping to make him give up.

However, Dui is no longer the same as before. He now has a mental fortress built by the Occlumency technique in his brain, which keeps Saruman's mental influence out.

Therefore, Saruman's hypnotic spells had no effect whatsoever.

He even took out the Victory Horn and blew it, directly negating Saruman's magical power of sound.

Seeing that his hypnotic spells had failed to work, Saruman's expression turned grim.

"Saruman, I am your opponent!" Romisdanu faced Saruman, staff in hand.

At the same time, he spoke to Dui telepathically, saying, "Dui, I'll hold off Saruman and the others. You take Morida and go first. He'll become even weaker here and needs to leave as soon as possible."

Upon hearing Romisdanu's words, Dui was startled. "Then what will you do?"

Romisdanus's expression was extremely grave, and his heart pounded with an unprecedented urgency. "We can't stay here any longer. I sense an even more dangerous darkness approaching. The longer we stay, the harder it will be to leave!"

"Take Morida and leave immediately. Don't worry about me. I'll hold them off for a while, and I'll find a way to escape!"

But Dui did not believe Romisdanu's words. If he had a way to get away, he would have done it with them long ago. Why would he stay here now to hold off Saruman and his men and let them leave first?

Romisdanus's idea was nothing more than to sacrifice himself.

But Romisdanu was clearly determined and didn't give Dui a chance to refuse. "We can't hesitate any longer, Dui. Danger is getting closer! If we hesitate any longer, none of the three of us will be able to leave!"

As if sensing something, he looked towards Mordor in the north with a mixture of fear and apprehension. "He's coming! Quick! Take Moridae and get out of here!"

A commotion was heard in the distance, and then Romisdanu's white bison charged wildly, knocking away countless Harads and orcs, and quickly arrived in front of Romisdanu.

Romisdanu quickly placed the weakened Morida on the back of the ox.

"Duir, don't worry about me, go! I'm still useful to them. Even if I'm captured, they won't kill me. You just need to take Morida away and then find other help to rescue me!"

Without looking back, he charged toward Saruman, unleashing a full-force attack that released powerful magical energy. He single-handedly blocked Saruman and the Ringwraiths, creating an opportunity for Dui and Moreda to break through.

Upon seeing this, Dui's expression changed, but in the end he respected Romisdanu's opinion and left with Morida first.

Seeing this, Saruman guessed Romisdanu's thoughts and sneered, "Trying to give them a chance to escape? Hmph, overestimating yourselves. None of you are leaving today!"

With that, he unleashed his full magical power, pressing down on Romistanu, and at the same time commanded the three Ringwraiths, "Stop them!"

As the white-robed wizard, Saruman was stronger than the other wizards. Even though Romistanu tried his best, he was still suppressed by Saruman and could only watch helplessly as the three Ringwraiths rushed towards Dui and Moridae.

Facing the three Ringwraiths who were attacking him, Dui dared not be careless. He took out the Starlight Bottle, poured in magic, and activated the Light of Eyarndil to force the Ringwraiths back.

The dazzling and holy light of Eyarendil has a restraining effect on dark creatures like the Ringwraiths, who dared not approach it for a moment.

Dui did not linger and immediately took Morida away.

Saruman was both shocked and enraged by the sight and tried to stop Dui from escaping, but Romisdanu held him back with all his might. In an instant, the massive Minas Harad fortress was continuously destroyed and collapsed under the magical impact of the two wizards.

The surrounding Harads and Orcs fled in terror, fearing they would be caught in the crossfire.

But at that moment, the terrified roars of the Harads and the orcs suddenly fell silent, as if someone had grabbed their throats.

Time seemed to stand still. The wind stopped, and the night was as thick as ink, carrying a cold, suffocating pressure that pressed down on the heart like a boulder, making even a heartbeat incredibly difficult.

It seemed as if a thousand seductive and despairing voices were whispering in my ear, like a thousand cold, slippery worms trying to burrow into my mind and devour my soul.

Morita, clinging to the cow's back, looked terrified and desperate, her weak voice filled with despair: "He...he's here!"

The battle between Romisdanu and Saruman also suddenly stopped, and each revealed a different expression.

Saruman's expression was one of complex emotions: he saw support, but had failed to complete the mission ahead of schedule.

Romisdanus, on the other hand, was filled with pure terror and solemnity, along with a sense of regret.

He was already exhausted from trying to hold off Saruman, but he still managed to rush to Dui and Morida to face the impending terror together.

In mid-air, darkness rapidly gathered and then tore open a dark rift.

The crack resembled a giant vertical eye, with shadows surging and converging around it like living creatures, resembling menacing dark tentacles.

A dark shadow emerged from the crack. It was a faceless, humanoid figure, like a black hole, swallowing up the surrounding light. Only two points of scarlet light, like eternal will-o'-the-wisps, indifferently swept across the area below.

The three Ringwraiths respectfully prostrated themselves at the feet of the shadowy figure, welcoming his arrival.

Although reluctant, Saruman bowed his head and acknowledged him as his leader.

“Soren!” Romisdanu uttered the name with difficulty.

Dui was on high alert, feeling for the first time how close the threat of death was.

The Sauron before them was not in his Mystic Eye form; rather, the shadowy figure before them was Sauron's true form, and the Mystic Eye was merely a symbol and spiritual form of Sauron, used to gaze upon Middle-earth so that Sauron could see further.

"The white-robed wizard Saruman, the blue-robed wizards Moreda and Romisdanu, and the black-robed wizard Duir—it's quite a surprise to have so many wizards gathered together at once." Sauron's voice was full of seductive and corrupting power as he whispered in everyone's ears.

His scarlet gaze swept over the two blue-robed wizards.

"Morida, Romistanu, we are old friends. For thousands of years you have opposed me in the East, instigating riots everywhere and causing me a lot of trouble!"

"But I greatly admire your abilities. After all, you have been able to cause me trouble, preventing me from fully ruling the East and concentrating all my forces to reclaim the Western lands. This shows that you possess exceptional talent and ability!"
"If you are willing to submit to me, I can forgive your past transgressions and even allow you to rule the Eastern world, becoming its masters, and ruling the entire world with me. What do you say?"

Sauron's voice was full of seductive power, like a thousand voices whispering in one's ear, constantly searching for weaknesses to break through the defenses of the mind and completely corrupt the soul.

Romisdanus remained focused, giving Sauron no opportunity to exploit the situation, and angrily said:

“Never expect us to submit to you, Sauron, servant of Morgoth! You are nothing but a nameless, faceless man, destined to fail!”

"Is that so?" Soren wasn't provoked, but said with a hint of mockery, "But your companions don't seem to think so."

Upon hearing this, Romistanus felt uneasy and looked towards Morida behind him.

Morita's face was constantly struggling, sometimes clear-headed, sometimes frantic, as if she had a split personality.

Romisdanus was shocked and quickly grabbed Morita, "Morita, hold on to your will, don't be defeated!"

Moreda's eyes were filled with struggle; her weak and weary soul was no match for Sauron's spiritual erosion and was being corrupted.

"Romisdanu, kill me! Don't let me fall into darkness!" Moreda cried out in struggle.

Romisdanus could not possibly kill his friend, but in order to prevent his friend from falling into darkness, he disregarded everything else and used his spirit and mind as a shield to protect Morida's mind and prevent Sauron's power from further corrupting him.

Soren made no attempt to stop them, and even seemed happy to watch.

Because Romisdanus's actions are tantamount to expending his own mental and spiritual energy to protect another person, he will become increasingly weak.

When Romisdanus's mind is extremely weak, Sauron can easily break through his mental defenses, thereby corrupting and controlling him.

He was naturally happy not to stop such a win-win situation.

Seeing that Romistanu was no longer a threat, Soren looked at Dui with a mixture of amusement and curiosity in his eyes.

"Duir, an existence outside of fate, has repeatedly disrupted my plans. I have long been interested in you. Let me see what secrets you hold that make you so extraordinary?"
