Chapter 219 Disguised Magus

Edoras, the capital of Rohan.

Nestled in the widest valley at the northern foot of the White Mountains, the city sits atop an isolated, verdant hill near the valley's mouth, with the Snow River flowing through it from the east.

The hill was surrounded by ditches, walls, and barbed wire fences, and entered through a black city gate.

At the highest point of the hill stands Meduseld, the golden palace of the King of Rohan.

With a soft cracking sound, Dui appeared in a deserted corner outside the city of Edoras.

He set off from Eisengard, and after several apparitions, he finally arrived at Rohan.

Apparition requires either having visited a specific location or possessing a specific landmark to accurately teleport to its destination.

Dui also gathered descriptions of Edoras from people like Elrond and Gandalf, forming a concrete image of the city in his mind, which allowed him to accurately arrive in this city he had never been before.

Rohan's lands are covered with pastures and grasslands, with vast open spaces. The main livelihood is horse breeding and animal husbandry. It possesses the finest horse breeds in Middle-earth and is renowned for its powerful cavalry.

The mares that Dui used to crossbreed and breed hippogriffs and winged horses, as well as the Swiftbred horse tamed by Gandalf, all belong to the finest Miarlas breed on the Lohan plains, and are descendants of the mount of Oromi, the god of the hunt.

It was also the exclusive mount of the Luohan royal family.

Dui looked at the city, which was decorated with the horse as a totem and featured numerous elements that reflected the horse, and walked towards the city gate with a sense of sightseeing.

The guards at the city gate watched the crowds coming and going, wary of any suspicious individuals.

Dui's appearance drew everyone's attention.

After all, compared to those around him, his height was exceptionally tall. He wore an elegant yet understatedly luxurious black robe, and his overall demeanor was as graceful and noble as an elf, with a touch of the majesty of a superior.

Dui himself was unaware of this image, but in the eyes of those around him, even though he tried to conceal his presence, he was still quite eye-catching.

The captain of the guards, seeing Dui, a stranger, did not dare to offend him rashly. He stepped forward respectfully and cautiously and asked, "Sir, may I ask where you come from? Outsiders need to register if they want to enter the city."

Dui was only here to sign in; he didn't want to make things difficult for the captain of the soldiers, nor did he want to cause any trouble.

Moreover, based on his years of experience in signing in, the most likely way to successfully sign in is in the heart of this royal city—the Golden Palace in Meduseld.

Therefore, he did not conceal his identity.

“I am Duir, from Eisengard-Osankta in the west. I have come here to travel and wish to pay a visit to King Sengir.”

Upon hearing Dui's words, the captain of the guards was startled, his eyes widened, and he became even more cautious.

As a Rohanite, he naturally knew about Isengard and had heard that it had a new lord and had subdued the savage Blacklands people. His king had even personally gone to the western border to sign a peace treaty with the Blacklands people.

Therefore, Duir's name spread rapidly in Rohan, especially the legend of him having a giant dragon, which was spread like wildfire in Rohan.

The captain dared not delay in the slightest and quickly said, "Please wait a moment, sir, I will go and report right away!"

He then quickly went to report to his superiors.

Inside the Golden Palace in Miduseld, King Sengge was talking with his advisor, Minister Mario.

Mario was once a general of the Rohan, stationed on the western border of the Rohan, and was credited with defending against the Black Barbarians. He was trusted by King Sengir and has now been promoted to Sengir's chief advisor.

Just then, a servant outside the door reported that Duir had come to visit.

King Senger's eyes lit up upon hearing this, and he immediately ordered someone to invite Dui over.

Meanwhile, Mario, the advisor minister standing to the side, frowned upon seeing this.

Perhaps because he once guarded the western border and had many conflicts with the Black Barbarians, Mario distrusts the Black Barbarians very much, and can even be said to hate them.

Previously, when King Sengir personally went to the border to sign a peace treaty with the Black Barbarians, Mario strongly opposed it, believing that the Black Barbarians were cunning, barbaric, and untrustworthy, and that they should be wiped out completely.

However, Senger did not adopt his suggestion.

Mario harbored hostility towards the Black Barbarians, and this prejudice extended to Duir, who had taken them in.

As Dui entered the palace, Senger, who was sitting on the throne, stepped down and opened his arms to welcome him.

"Wizard Duir, it's been over a year since we last met. It's truly an honor to have you here in Edoras today!"

Senger did not act arrogantly because of his status as king, but instead treated Dui with respect and equality.

Since Dui became the new master of Aisengard, Senger had specially sent people to inquire about and collect information and stories about Dui. He was even more surprised and immediately decided to focus on winning over and befriending this new neighbor.

Dui nodded politely in greeting and said with a smile, "It's been a long time. His Majesty Senger is as glorious as ever."

After exchanging pleasantries, Senger introduced the ministers behind him to Dui.

"This is my chief advisor—Mario."

“I’ve long admired your name, Wizard Duir.” Mario gave a fake smile. “It’s quite a coincidence, really. I was once stationed at the Aisen River crossing, which is very close to Aisengard, but I never got to visit it. I regret it now!”

He then changed the subject, asking with feigned curiosity and enthusiasm, "But what brings Wizard Duir to Edoras? Is there something important on your mind? If you need anything, we'll certainly be happy to help!"

King Senger nodded and said cheerfully, "Mario is right, Wizard Duir, please don't hesitate to ask if you need any help!"

Dui's gaze lingered on the king's chief advisor for a moment, his brow furrowing slightly.

He sensed insincerity and hostility in this person. However, ever since awakening his Mind Control talent, he had become accustomed to restraining his mental energy to avoid being disturbed by the noisy thoughts around him.

Now, the chief advisor before him was hostile to him. Just as Dui was about to use Legilimency to test him, he was interrupted by King Sengir beside him.

Seeing this, Dui was in no hurry to pursue the matter.

He withdrew his gaze, shook his head at King Senger, and said with a smile, "Thank you, Your Majesty Senger. However, I have no important business here. I have only heard of the beautiful scenery of the Rohan Grassland and longed to visit it. Therefore, I came here to pay my respects at Your Majesty's invitation."

Dui naturally wouldn't reveal his true purpose, so he made up an excuse.

King Sengge did not care whether Dui's words were true or false, and then ordered a banquet to be prepared and invited Dui to attend.

Dui readily agreed.

At the same time, the system also reacted.

[Hogwarts Check-in System: Location: Rohan - Edoras City, Check-in required?]

[Sign-in successful! Congratulations on obtaining the Disguise Magus talent!]

Dui was pleasantly surprised; he hadn't expected to receive this as a reward for checking in.

The Disguise Magus is different from the Animagus. The Animagus can transform into animals and is a highly advanced form of human transformation.

However, the ability to disguise oneself is a magical talent that one is born with, rather than something that can be learned later.

The Disguise Magus possesses the ability to change his appearance at will, without the need for magical potions or items such as Polyjuice Potion. More importantly, there is no time limit after transformation, and the transformation cannot be reversed by magic.

Like Nymphadora Tonks in the Harry Potter world, she is a disguise Magus who often livens up the atmosphere by changing her appearance (such as turning her nose into a pig's nose), and her hair color changes constantly with her mood.

This rare magical talent is well-suited for disguise and has a greater advantage than the Animagus, which can only transform into one type of animal.

At this moment, Dui could feel that his physical appearance had gained a kind of plasticity, and could change according to his mood and will.

If the current circumstances weren't unsuitable, Dui would love to try out this ability to disguise Magus.

With anticipation, Dui attended the banquet hosted for him by King Sengir.

Because the Rohan people are mostly nomadic, their banquets are more unrestrained and rustic, with meat and wine being the main dishes.

During the banquet, Chief Advisor Mario acted enthusiastically, frequently toasting Dui and then casually probing his words.

Dui saw that Mario was trying to get him drunk, but he did not refuse his toast. His physical condition was already similar to that of an elf, so ordinary alcohol had little effect on him.

So he drank one glass after another, without showing any signs of drunkenness on his face, and his eyes remained clear.

On the contrary, Mario, who was toasting, became redder and redder with each drink, and by the end, he could barely stand.

Mario looked at Dui's clear eyes with disbelief.

"You, you won't get drunk?"

Dui calmly shook his head and uttered a classic line: "Of course not, my fingers are already feeling a bit numb, I must be drunk."

Upon hearing this, Mario's face turned even redder, whether from anger or drunkenness, it was hard to tell.

Then, unable to hold on any longer, with a look of resentment in her eyes, she collapsed to the ground, completely drunk and unconscious.

Upon seeing this, the others at the banquet erupted in commotion, followed by cheers and admiration for Dui.

King Senggeer laughed heartily and gave Dui a thumbs-up in admiration.

"Mario is the one with the highest alcohol tolerance among us, and he has never met his match before. I never expected that he would be defeated by you, Wizard Duir, today! It's truly a rare sight!"

Dui shook his head modestly.

"It's Mario who's being too modest. If I drink any more, I'm afraid I'll just pass out."

When the others saw that his face still didn't have a blush, they all expressed disbelief.

Dui's gaze, however, fell on the drunken Mario.

At this moment, Mario, who was in a deep sleep, had no defenses in his brain under Dui's mind-controlling ability, and thus allowed Dui to read his memories.

After reading his memories, Dui's gaze turned cold, and a hint of mockery appeared on his face.

But Dui did nothing else, letting the drunk Mario be helped away by the servants. He simply waited for the banquet to end so he could return to his room to rest.

Then he waved his hand and conjured a large mirror, stood in front of it, and quietly looked at himself in the mirror.

His originally black hair grew rapidly and turned golden.

His black eyes turned dark blue, his facial features and skin changed, and his ears became pointed...

What finally appeared in the mirror was the appearance of a male elf.
