Chapter 31 Didn’t come
Although this special dream world has already provided me with consultation techniques for [micro-expression analysis (beginner)].

But that was, after all, a newbie gift pack.

In reality, this current "monthly goal" is the first achievement I've accomplished step by step.

The meaning is different.

This is the first step in exploring this dream-based psychological counseling center.

In fact, Nan Zhuren, who has some consulting experience, has already determined that even just relying on [micro-expression analysis (beginner)] is enough for him to gain a foothold in the consulting industry.

But if one could go further down the path of psychological counseling, or even "psychology," who wouldn't want to?

After becoming a good consultant, there are still many, many goals that Nan Zhuren doesn't even dare to think about right now...

However, for now, we should first see what the rewards are for completing this first task.

As Nan Zhuren was thinking this, the words in front of him quickly changed.

The text that was originally in the "Monthly Goals" position gradually disappeared, and several new strings of text appeared:
[This month's goals have been achieved]

You have received [psychological skills training]

[Emotional soothing ability (voice) +1]

"Hmm? Not a new consultation technique?"

Nan Zhuren raised an eyebrow; this was somewhat different from what he had imagined.

He originally thought that after completing this task, he would gain a new consultation technique, or that he would be able to upgrade his existing micro-expression analysis from (beginner) to (intermediate), or even (advanced).

"What we've gained isn't a 'technique,' but rather an 'ability,' a 'quality,' or... something similar to attributes in a game?"

"Emotional soothing ability, and it's even marked with 'sound,' does that mean my ability to soothe others with words has improved?"

"What exactly constitutes 'soothing emotions'? If we can calm a patient having a panic attack down with words..." Nan Zhuren's eyes lit up as he thought this.

From this perspective, although what we gained this time was not a ready-made, immediately applicable consulting technique.

However, improving personal attributes can significantly enhance the effectiveness of all emotional soothing techniques in the future.

As a qualified psychological counselor, Nan Zhuren happens to possess several basic methods for emotional soothing...

"No, it shouldn't be that easy. There's a '+1' note at the end, so it shouldn't be an overnight success." Nan Zhuren quickly and calmly pulled himself out of his daydream.

"If you can really make your voice soothe a panic attack in an instant, then that's a technique that surpasses micro-expression analysis, or even a superpower."

"But if it can get +1, it can definitely get +2, +3 later, just like an attribute in a game. If it keeps increasing, it might actually become something like a superpower in the future..."

Thinking this, Nan Zhuren felt a surge of excitement in his heart.

"I just don't know how much my current [+1] attribute will improve my emotional calming ability. Maybe I can use it in the consultation later."

Nan Zhuren pondered.

However, if possible, Nan Zhuren still hopes not to use it in the consultation later.

If possible, he hopes he never has to use it.

……

After inspecting his harvest, Nan Zhuren pondered the possibility of leaving his dream world.

But perhaps it was because they were just too tired, and the surrounding environment was too quiet.

Therefore, even though his mind remained sharp, he didn't wake up immediately. His body took matters into its own hands and began to move—

rest.

He fell asleep.

Time passed by minute by minute.

"Boom!"

Nan Zhuren suddenly woke up and looked in the direction of the sound. It turned out that Shen Bing from the next workstation had accidentally dropped his documents on the ground.

"I'm sorry, Professor Nan, I disturbed your rest..."

Nan Zhuren rubbed his temples and waved his hand to indicate that he was fine. He was still feeling drowsy when he suddenly jolted awake.

The clock behind Shen Bing clearly displayed the current time:

17:34
The last visitor should have arrived half an hour ago!

"Shen Bing, what about the last visitor? Is Lu Jia talking to her?"

Although the receptionist said she could help me get some rest time, it's impossible to drag it out for half an hour, right?

"The visitor didn't show up." But Shen Bing said casually, "I contacted her ten minutes in advance, but no one answered the phone; then I contacted her three more times at the agreed time, five minutes later, and ten minutes later, but she still didn't answer the phone. So we have no responsibility."

“According to the contract, missing the consultation is entirely the client’s responsibility. Moreover, since she has already purchased a consultation package, the consultation time will still be deducted as usual, which means we have earned the fee for a premium consultation for free.”

"I saw that you were sleeping soundly, so I simply didn't wake you up."

Shen Bing was clearly pleased to have earned a consultation fee for free, and his tone of voice became even more excited.

Nan Zhuren rubbed his temples.

"If I remember correctly, today's visitor is Chen Ting, right?"

"Yes, that was the first visitor you received after you joined the company, Professor Nan."

Nan Zhuren remembers his first visitor here very clearly.

As a counselor, Nan Zhuren is actually happy to see his clients break free from their dependence on counseling.

However, Nan Zhuren couldn't help but worry about clients who had just renewed their consultations for 12 sessions but then disappeared without a trace after the second consultation.

"It's alright, Teacher Nan."

Having worked at the psychological counseling center for so long, Shen Bing had some ability to read people and could easily discern Nan Zhuren's emotions from her silence.

He comforted her, saying, "This happens often. Maybe the client has something urgent to do, or suddenly doesn't want to continue the consultation. To put it another way, even if she has other concerns, that's none of our business. As psychological counselors, we only need to help the 'clients.' As for those who don't have 'clients,' we can't do anything about it."

"After all, 'God helps those who help themselves.' If even you don't want to help yourself, what can we, the working class, do?"

"You're probably still adjusting from being out of school, and you have too much of a sense of responsibility," Shen Bing said. "You'll encounter these kinds of visitors often in the future; you'll get used to it after a few more times."

Nan Zhuren glanced at Shen Bing.

He wasn't some novice consultant who had just left the ivory tower, so he naturally knew that Shen Bing was right.

It is not only "correct", but also "standard" and "normative".

However, he did not show any sign of being comforted by Shen Bing; he still had his brows furrowed, as if he was thinking about something.
