Armored train in the apocalypse

Chapter 29 Paranoia and Conspiracy

Chapter 29 Paranoia and Conspiracy

Su Huan repeated those words slowly and deliberately, his eyes filled with amusement, "They killed the hostage."

Juan's body trembled violently, and large beads of sweat rolled down his face.

"Brother Su, there must be some misunderstanding here. Someone... those two people are definitely trying to harm me!"

"You chose this person yourself." Su Huan smiled noncommittally, then turned to look at the workers below. "Has the other party refused the deal?"

The worker paused for a moment, then nodded emphatically, “Those two went up and said a few words, and then they tried to arrest us with that group of people, but Boss Gao used his superpower to blow us up in one go.”

“Impossible, they wouldn’t dare,” Juan quickly said.

"Shut up!"

Su Huan's voice suddenly turned cold.

Juan shuddered and dared not speak again.

Su Huan narrowed his eyes and looked at the workers, asking, "You mean, those two people came with them to arrest you?"

The worker paused for a moment, then said, "Yes, and then Boss Gao started fighting with them. That's when I took advantage of the chaos to run back. Boss Su, let's hurry and go save Boss Gao."

Su Huan chuckled and patted Juan's cheek. "Looks like they really don't care whether you live or die."

Before he could finish speaking, the reddened index finger pierced Juan's temple.

The man with bulging eyes fell headfirst and landed under the carriage.

The workers quickly dodged, but were still splashed with mud.

Su Huan said calmly, "Liang Kuan, take a team and clear out the zombies around the train."

Liang Kuan agreed in a muffled voice, then hesitated for a moment before asking, "So, are we still going to the water plant?"

……

"Of course I'll go!"

Inside carriage number 9, a sprightly old man stood by the window and spoke confidently.

Scarface touched the scar on his cheek and said strangely, "Old Qin, why are you talking in circles? Didn't you say that the guy surnamed Su wouldn't get out of the car? And even if Fanxing Property refused the deal, there's no reason for them to kill Boss Gao, is there? Aren't there too many loopholes in this?"

The old man glanced at him, shook his head and said, "Su Huan is extremely suspicious, especially since the person he's facing is Gao Zhe. Even if you give him a hundred plausible reasons, he won't believe them. On the contrary, if you give him a few pieces of information full of errors, he'll become suspicious."

"From the very first day of the apocalypse, he decisively seized the train, then collected supplies and upgraded his weaponry. This kind of mentality and decisiveness would make him a hero in any era. But such people all have one weakness."

"Arrogance?" Scarface asked thoughtfully.

"It's paranoia!"

Old Qin took out a handkerchief from his pocket, carefully wiped the sweat from his beard, and said earnestly, "Everyone with ability has their own quirks."

"They don't give up easily; once they make a plan, they're determined to complete it. This is both their strength and their weakness."

"Since he went to such lengths to get his hands on a water purifier, he won't give up easily."

Even if he knew Gao Zhe was waiting for him in the shadows.

Scarface rubbed his chest, sweat beading on his skin, and said irritably, "What if we just wait it out? Su has food, drink, air conditioning, and beautiful women in the carriage, while Boss Gao is in the dangerous wilderness."

"It won't be long. Su Huan is more anxious than us. Look, he's already gone out."

Old Qin's eyes flickered as he watched two figures suddenly pass by the car window.

A worker in overalls walked behind, dragging a corpse, while a young man in a gray T-shirt and jeans walked in front.

The workers followed nervously, carefully observing Su Huan.

Fearing that he would attract zombies, the other party abandoned him and ran away.

Seeing that the surrounding weeds were growing so thick that the train was almost invisible, the worker couldn't help but ask, "Boss Su, where are we going? Are we rescuing Boss Gao?"

Su Huan's gaze swept around, then suddenly settled on one spot.

It was a clump of grass about a meter in diameter, with a few red vines interspersed among the greenery.

The vine has dark red veins resembling blood vessels, and its surface is densely covered with transparent barbs. At first glance, it looks a bit like sea buckthorn, with a menacing appearance.

"Throw the corpse you're holding over there."

The worker swallowed hard, dragged the corpse forward, grabbed its leg, and flung it violently, throwing its upper body into the grass.

Unexpectedly, the previously quiet plant suddenly moved.

The red branches, like sharp swords, suddenly pierced towards the corpse.

"puff!"

A branch pierced through the corpse and went straight into the worker's arm.

The worker let out a scream and tried to run away, but his feet got tangled in branches, and he stumbled as soon as he took a step.

In just over ten seconds, both legs were tightly wrapped in vines.

As more vines climbed up as if they were alive, the worker, with tears streaming down his face, begged Su Huan for help as he approached.

Su Huan looked at the workers entangled by the Bloodthirsty Vines, his gaze deep. "You just said that those two came to capture you together?"

"Yes, yes, they attacked first! Boss Su, please save me! Please save me!"

The worker was dragged along by the bloodthirsty vines and struggled frantically.

A red light emanated from Su Huan's hand, and the approaching Bloodthirsty Vine hesitated for a moment before bypassing Su Huan and turning back to continue entangled with the worker.

Branches pierced through the workers' bodies, revealing bloody thorns.

Su Huan extended a finger and poked the branch like a branding iron poking butter. The branch and flesh carbonized at the same time, and he poked a hole in it.

The worker let out another scream, wailing, "I was wrong, Boss Su, I shouldn't have lied to you, please forgive me this time."

Su Huan slowly poked at the branches on his body.

It's like playing whack-a-mole.

Although the bloodthirsty vines were stopped from devouring the workers, they had already poked more than a dozen holes in the workers' bodies.

He was in excruciating pain.

"What did you lie to me about?"

"They...didn't attack us. Gao Zhe hadn't even entered the water plant yet...and he...he used his superpowers to kill those two people."

The worker spoke haltingly.

Su Huan narrowed his eyes. This worker probably didn't know about the bomb hidden in his buttocks and thought it was Gao Zhe's superpower.

There could be many reasons why the worker cooperated with Gao Zhe.

They were either subdued inside the train carriage or threatened on the spot.

There may be some other details, but they are generally similar to what he guessed.

Gao Zhe had only one goal: to lure him out of the car!

While he was pondering, the Bloodthirsty Vine launched another attack.

The worker tried to beg for mercy, but a bunch of bright red, vein-like branches had already grown out of his mouth.

It made a few strange "hoho" sounds, then fell completely silent.

The light in his eyes had faded.

The bloodthirsty vines, having absorbed the two corpses, grew even more vibrant and crimson.

Within a few minutes, the branches intermittently produced a few fruits, each with a thin membrane on the outside and a pool of blood inside.

It looks crystal clear and exquisitely beautiful.
