Warhammer 40: Doom
Chapter 92 is simply superhuman.
Chapter 92 is simply superhuman.
Doom wore a dark green power armor suit, which had been fully enclosed and modified for use in space combat.
He stood at the foot of the Heavenly Pillar, gazing up at the magnificent creations of the Golden Age.
As a pillar supporting the outer space, it not only stabilizes the Nur Ring but also undertakes important cargo transportation tasks.
Four cylindrical pillars, each 15 kilometers in diameter, are deeply embedded in the rock strata thousands of kilometers underground, firmly anchoring Nur and supporting the massive planetary ring.
The controlling AI of the Ring of Nur, after the Omnic Rebellion, blocked the path from the Sky Pillar to the Ring and sealed off the sky with a dimensional shield.
The reason why the main controller blocked Nur remains a mystery.
What exactly is its intention? The Nuer people on the surface have no idea.
If you simply want to kill humans, that's too easy.
The weapons mounted on the ring are powerful enough to blast humanity on the surface, and even the entire Nur region, into atomic dust.
Looking along the pillar, Doom's vision could vaguely make out outer space, a deathly still ring structure.
Over thousands of years, the surface structure of the ring has suffered some structural damage, and no automatic mechanical repair has been observed.
After the ring sealed the planet, it also fell into a deep slumber, remaining dormant for thousands of years.
Humans on the surface fought amongst themselves, plundering resources for survival. Even the planetary tremors caused by powerful weapons failed to awaken it.
Dum wanted to stabilize the situation for a while longer, allowing the Nur society to become more stable, before trying to explore the clitellum.
With the news brought by the Navigator, Terra has re-erected its navigational beacon, and Nur's journey into space is now of utmost urgency.
The reunification of Terra may seem like an exciting and positive development, but it could also be a greater catastrophe.
The place of origin of humankind has always been a political and cultural center.
From the colonial era to the technological era, to the intelligent machine rebellion, and then to the disappearance of the stars.
To gain a foothold in Terra, one needs exceptional skills to survive among wolves.
They share the same ambitions as the stars, possess an innate pride, and believe that Terra has the right to rule over humanity.
At the entrance to Tianzhu, Harlan, fully armed and carrying various supplies on his back, had been waiting for a long time.
The distance from the base of the celestial pillar to the orbit of the planet containing the ring belt is more than 50,000 kilometers, a long journey.
Distance is one factor, but there are also various automatic defense devices in the rail elevator, a multi-dimensional maze built of crystal, and various trap devices.
Countless early Nur explorers went there, but none ever returned.
"Don't forget your things." Harlan reminded Doom repeatedly, emphasizing the importance of not forgetting the most crucial item—the blueprints for the Ring of Nur.
These are precious records preserved from the earliest period when human civilization was still intact.
Doom raised his hand, and a holographic graphic popped up on the fully enclosed power armor armplate, indicating that Harlan didn't need to be nervous.
Why are you carrying so much stuff?
Seeing the large bags and packages on Harlan's back, Doom asked in confusion. He had clearly reminded Harlan yesterday that he didn't need to bring too much stuff.
“A journey of over 50,000 kilometers is equivalent to running around the Nur-Sultan equator, and we also have to face all sorts of mazes and traps. How long do you think it will take us to arrive?”
Harlan also raised his arm, revealing a map that his predecessor had explored, marked with countless traps and mechanisms.
“I don’t plan to take that route.” Doom shook his head, walked to the Heavenly Pillar Wall, and patted the pure white, cold outer wall: “I’m going up from here.”
"What?" Harlan was startled by the far-fetched idea. He quickly took off his helmet and looked at Doom seriously: "Are you sure you're not joking?"
"No joke!" Doom also took off his helmet, looked at his beloved general, and showed an eager expression.
"then what do I do?"
Seeing Doom's excited expression, Harlan knew he was serious and instinctively thought of himself: "How am I supposed to get up there?"
He believed Doom had a way to get up there, but he couldn't figure out how he himself would get up.
Doom did invite me yesterday, indicating that he would take me with him to the orbital ring.
Doom is unsure how to restart the Ring of Nur, and bringing Harlan along might require using his gene sequence.
Harlan tilted his head, looking behind Doom, and asked in confusion, "Are you going to carry me up?"
“No.” Doom gave a mysterious smile. “You’ll know once you throw away the extra stuff.”
Trusting his Oath Master, Harlan immediately dropped his backpack, grabbed some food, and ate a few bites, looking at Doom expectantly. "Get ready." Doom's mysterious smile deepened as he put on his helmet and checked his equipment to make sure there were no problems.
“Ready!” Harlan checked the equipment as well, confirming that there were no problems.
Then he saw Doom approaching him, and a strong sense of foreboding immediately rose in his heart, and his instincts made him flee from there.
"what are you up to?!!"
Harlan's scream came through their communication channel as Doom grabbed him by the back and tossed him high into the air.
His control over his power is exquisite; he can throw Harlan and his equipment without harming them, yet still reach the highest point.
"Haha! I want to go home! I want to go home!"
Harlan's screams rang out on the communications channel. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the altimeter inside his power armor. Doom had thrown himself three hundred meters and was still slowly rising.
He dared not struggle, gripping the dark light tightly, afraid that any sudden movement would derail him from Doom's path.
"Too late!" Doom grinned, took off his gauntlets and hung them on his waist, then pressed his palms against the wall to increase friction.
With a sudden burst of strength, his body, propelled by the force, flew upwards like a cannonball.
Harlan screamed, and just as they came to a stop at the highest point, Doom grabbed him again, bracing himself against the wall with one hand and exerting force once more.
Harlan was thrown out again, and Doom used one hand to push upwards once more.
"Heh heh heh~"
Doom's laughter was tinged with smugness; he hadn't been this happy in a long time: "Don't move around too much, or you'll be finished if you fall."
"You absolutely mustn't make a mistake!"
Harlan stopped crying immediately and dared not make any movement. He was willing to die and was not afraid of death, but he absolutely could not fall to his death!
The master and servant, in a comical and unbelievable way, quickly left the atmosphere.
Inside the palace, while Flano was still worrying about whether everything would go smoothly for his brother, a throne guard entered through the door: "My lord, you should come out and take a look at this."
Flano's heart sank slightly. He ordered the throne guard to keep a close eye on the movement of the Heavenly Pillar. Had something gone wrong?
He rushed to the square and saw two rising black dots on the outer wall of the Heavenly Pillar. He quickly took the binoculars handed to him by the guard.
Flano witnessed this scene that defied common sense and realized that his understanding of his brother was still lacking.
That muscular man who descended from the sky always managed to do things beyond reason, shocking the hearts of ordinary people.
His lips twitched as he watched the figure gradually disappear into the distance, letting out a numb sigh: "He's simply a superman!"
After saying this, he returned to the palace.
No longer worried, I decided that instead of worrying about non-humans, I should rest well.
Harlan was also numb, and even began to make some bold movements, tilting his head to look down at the gradually shrinking land, and his heart gradually became excited.
Although the journey was undignified, he was very likely the first person in a thousand years to ascend the Ring of Nur.
"Whew!" He began to enjoy the ascent, his heart filled with impatience, even urging, "Faster! Faster!"
Harlan hummed a little tune as he watched the distance displayed inside his helmet increase with each throw.
He then knew that gravity was weakening and that he would soon be able to break through the atmosphere and reach outer space.
Looking straight ahead into the distance, he saw the planet's gradually rounded outline, and for a moment he forgot to breathe, his eyes welling up with tears.
"She's so beautiful!"
Harlan whispered into the communications channel that he saw the radiance of the Gem Mountains, the continent, and the ocean.
This is something I could only see in books before; it's far more shocking than seeing it with my own eyes.
"Hmm," Doom responded softly, noticing the magnificent scenery during his free time.
He was equally awestruck. A jewel-like ocean stretched out, disappearing into a ring on the far side of the planet, and white glaciers flared at the poles.
The two had reached a distance of 1,000 kilometers above the ground and entered a microgravity environment, stopping on the Heavenly Pillar for a short rest.
The magnetic force on the power armor activated, attracting them to the outer wall of the pillar, eliminating the risk of them falling.
"Let's go, we still have a long way to go."
