Warhammer 40: Doom

Chapter 87 disappears into thin air

Chapter 87 disappears into thin air
"I am the enemy of the gods!"

Doom raised his Judgment Sword high, pointing it directly at the high and mighty gods. With a downward swing of the sword, the power of destruction swirled around the point where the blade pointed.

In the subspaced space, the power of the Judgment Sword is boundless; the sacrificial pits inscribed with blasphemous arrays crumble when the Judgment Sword is swung.

He sheathed his longsword, gripping the hilt tightly with both hands, blade facing downwards, like an ancient knight taking an oath: "I am the enemy of Chaos!"

As the Judgment Sword fell, the fury emanating from Doom seeped into the ground, igniting the ritual array and burning away the blasphemous lines.

The barrier shattered, and the flames spread further and further along the eight-pointed star mark.

"Doom! Enemy of Chaos! Enemy of the Gods!"

The Night Watchers are shouting, a cry for the indomitable spirit of the Destroyer.

Despite the lure of absolute profit, he did not succumb to the gods, and even though he committed the crime of matricide, he still chose to save the Night Guardians.

He stood in opposition to the gods and challenged them.

Under Doom's protection, the gaze of the gods cannot harm or distort anyone.

The real fury spread everywhere, burning away the chaotic pollution and evaporating the foul acid rain into hissing smoke.

The chaotic egg that Isaac had transformed into was ignited by rage, crackling and popping as it burned.

Harlan pushed Ennio into the flames, which, though harmless, caused the demon's host to wail in agony.

The demonic concept of the Keeper of Secrets disintegrated within Ennio's body, and the evil god's twisted pain into a blessing of pleasure had no effect at this moment.

It truly felt the hurt, and its rage, fueled by demonic energy, burned ever more fiercely.

"Don't think you can die so easily!"

The demon was weakened, Ennio's soul was freed, and he regained control of his body.

He crawled out of the flames, saving the demon and allowing the Keeper of the Secret to continue to linger within him, awaiting judgment.

"Welcome back." Harlan reached out his large hand and pulled Ennio up from the ground. The demon could no longer cause any trouble.

"It's so good to be able to touch you again." Ennio shed tears, his heart filled with torment: "Actually, it would be good if I died too."

After a brief greeting, their gaze returned to the center of the sacrificial pit.

The chaotic ritual was disrupted, the warp energy was rapidly dissipating, and the chaotic City of Truth was gradually returning to reality.

"Be before me! Gods!"

Doom roared to the heavens, challenging the gods at the center of the stage, but no one answered him in the shrinking void of reality.

The gods understood. Even the ever-warlike Khorne understood that with the power of chaos dissipated, the gods could not descend, nor could they defeat Doom, who wielded the sword of judgment.

Sending more demons won't do anything to the Godslayer; it will only strengthen him, especially since he's now completely unrestrained.

Their figures are fading away, like audience members leaving after a performance.

"Khorne! Coward!"

Another roar followed, this time a direct challenge.

God can ignore provocation, but Khorne cannot; He is a God of provocation and struggle.

The Blood God made a sudden move, his divine body rising from the skull seat, and his giant sword slashed out with boundless power!

"Doom! Godslayer!"

The crimson greatsword traversed countless realms, pierced dimensional barriers, and crashed down upon the challenger like a pillar supporting the sky.

Doom showed no fear, wielding the Judgment Sword with the power to shake the stars, meeting the Blood God's overwhelming ferocity.

Dang~
The sounds of weapons clashing violently echoed in both reality and the subspace.

The Blood God Greatsword, capable of destroying all life, and the Judgment Sword, powerful enough to kill gods, clashed fiercely together!
Shockwaves swept across boundless territory in the warp, and demons bowed their heads in worship of the Blood God's power.

The impact in reality was like a nuclear explosion; the shockwave blew away the Night Guardians and shook the entire City of Truth.

Amidst the smoke and dust of the explosion, and in the shadow of the colossal sword, Doom stood there, blood gushing from every vein, like a blood-soaked figure.

In the next moment, his terrifying self-healing ability restored him to his original state, and the Judgment Sword in his hand blocked the Blood God Greatsword.

The blades of both sides are clashing, the concepts they carry are tearing at each other, and they are wearing each other down in the process of grappling.

"happy!"

The Blood God roared from the subspace; He hadn't felt this exhilarated in a very long time.

In the real universe, someone has appeared who can withstand His slash!

Although the slash was weakened countless times, he still caught it without retreating or dodging, receiving it squarely and honorably.

"We will have a battle someday, but not today!"

Blood God laughed wildly as he sheathed his greatsword and looked expectantly at Doom through the gradually healing warp rift.

"No! Today!"

Doom's absolute will transformed the last of the warp energy into a staircase. He picked up the Judgment Sword and was about to rush into the warp along the staircase.

He vowed to fight the gods to the death!

"Doom!"

Just as he was about to rush into the subspace, a call came from the smoke and dust.

Harlan, with Ennio by his side, limped and struggled through the smoke and dust kicked up by the explosion.

Taking advantage of the moment when he saw Ennio's momentary lapse in concentration, Haaland rushed forward and grabbed Doom's leg as he headed towards the stairs: "You can't leave! If you're going, take me with you." The champion swordsman's thoughts were simple: wherever his master was, that was where he would be.

“Look around…” Ennio’s eyes were filled with complex emotions, a mixture of guilt and determination. He also hugged one leg, looking up at his brother: “What will happen to them if you leave?”

Doom looked up and saw Night Guards rising one after another from the smoke and dust of the explosion, converging on him.

Their battered and bruised bodies were sustained only by sheer willpower.

“Take another look at her.” Ennio pointed to a corner of the ruins in the distance, where Daisy’s body was half buried.

“Mother…” Doom suddenly woke up, glancing back unwillingly at the subspace rift less than a meter wide.

"massacre."

As the hilt of the Judgment Sword whispered, he tossed the longsword into the warp, letting it hunt for itself.

The Judgment Swords, forged from the fury of Doom, are tightly bound together and can be summoned across realms.

As the passage closed, the Judgment Sword plunged into the warp, and Doom saw its silhouette as a god-slaying demon.

The power of the subspace vanished, and the three fell from mid-air.

Doom didn't care about anything else and rushed to Daisy's side, throwing away the bricks and rubble with both hands.

All destiny is in the hands of fate.

Isaac became a Chaos Egg and was burned to ashes.

The robe torn from his body, a robe passed down through generations of priests, imbued with priestly power, protected Daisy's corpse.

"Let's go..."

Ennio wanted to hug her, but his hand, which he had instinctively raised, stiffened and fell back down; he dared not touch her, tainted by her body.

"What are you going to do?"

Doom picked up his mother's body, hesitated for a moment, and said to Ennio, "We will forgive you."

He sensed the demon within Ennio; it was the cause of everything, and his brother, imprisoned in a soul, was suffering the same torment.

"My defiled body is unworthy to return to guard the main domain."

“Although it wasn’t my subjective opinion, I witnessed everything, and I can’t forgive myself.” Ennio’s heterochromatic eyes glanced at Daisy one last time, then at his tall brother: “I will exile myself and spend the rest of my life atoning for my sins.”

"You will be a good king!"

Ennio smiled sincerely, preparing to raise his hand to pat his brother's arm, just like before.

He raised his hand halfway, then awkwardly withdrew it. Doom tried to grab his hand, but Doom dodged it.

“It will help you.” Harlan took the sphere from his waist, an ancient artifact he always carried with him.

"Follow its guidance."

Haaland tossed him the magical weapon, giving Ennio no chance to refuse, and gave him a friendly smile:

"You will find a way to take revenge on the demon!"

"Thank you."

Ennio removed his armor and everything else related to guarding the main domain, leaving only a robe he picked up from the ground to cover himself.

May you vanquish all your enemies!

Finally, he gave a warrior's salute and walked into the still-lingering dust, slowly disappearing from sight.

"Let's go too."

Doom and the Night Guards went outside the city to meet up with the support forces outside. Less than half of the warriors who entered the city returned.

Of the 15,000 men, only 7,000 returned. Of those, fewer than 4,000 were fully combat-ready.

The troops were gradually reorganized, and the bodies of the Night Guards in the city were collected. A sense of sorrow permeated the temporary territory outside the city.

Many of the Night Guard's corpses could not be found at all, or even pieced together completely.

An endless tide of demons engulfed the Night Guardians and tore their corpses apart.

"This victory was too brutal."

The data before him was too horrifying. Harlan, who was usually oblivious to everything, turned his head away, unable to bear looking at the body bags in the camp.

Doom remained silent, gazing at the distant City of Truth. His clenched hands and white knuckles betrayed his inner turmoil.

"Sir, you may begin now."

Erica, who stayed behind at the camp, handed over a launcher connected to an atomic weapon detonation device.

Seeing Harlan's eager expression, Doom took the detonator and handed it to him: "Here you go."

There was a strange fanaticism in his nature—an obsession with novel or destructive weapons, especially massive bombs.

Without hesitation, he took the detonator, and an ancient city with a thousand-year history was destroyed. Most people might sigh and lament.

But Harlan did not hesitate and pressed the detonator in his hand.

As an artificial sun rises, the city of truth, which has stood for thousands of years, is destroyed by an atomic weapon, and all traces vanish into thin air.

"Go home. We still have a lot to take care of."

The Orbital Pillar shimmered with a shield-like glow. Doom glanced at it, then left with the Night Guard, who had suffered a pyrrhic victory.
