Warhammer 40: Doom

Chapter 69 No!!!

Chapter 69 No!!!
"Keep an eye on him, this man is dangerous."

The demon-possessed soldier nodded heavily. He knew the gods' plan, and now only the final step was needed for success.

Even the most discerning person would not dare to act recklessly at such a critical juncture.

He gripped the spear tightly, the blade pressed against the man's neck, preventing him from making any rash moves.

Isaac frowned, then relaxed. He disliked this tense, confrontational manner; it was anything but elegant.

King Norwick can be controlled using psionic spells or other means; he is currently too weak to lift his sword.

But Norwick possesses a mysterious artifact that can even block the gaze of the gods and has a strong anti-psychic function.

Violent methods are the most direct, the most impactful, and the most feared.

The gods were monitoring every thought that stirred within Novik's mind; the current King Novik was nothing but a pathetic wretch.

He couldn't hold on much longer and urged Doom to come back and save him, hoping his son wouldn't let him down.

Everything is under control, everything is going according to plan.

Isaac's joy was overflowing, and he paid no heed to the menacing guards outside the throne room, instead gazing at the magnificent dome.

The dome is carved with the Milky Way, symbolizing the Nur people's never-forgotten desire to return to the stars.

There were also some unpleasant things that made Isaac frown. He didn't like a corner of the painting, an inconspicuous corner in that magnificent scroll.

In the chaos following the Omnic blockade of the planet, the original Night Guardians formed a pact, re-established a new order, and declared war on all of Nur.

Among those mutants who were brutally slaughtered, the psionic mutants purged by the Night Watch comprised half of the planet's total population at the time.

The last group of psionicists were driven into the area beneath the third orbital pillar, and the Night Watchers did not pursue them further.

The history of the Dark Guardians of Light is the history of the City of Truth's suffering.

Isaac ignited a blue flame at his fingertips, flicked his fingers to set the dome ablaze, and eliminated the discord in the painting.

On this momentous day, as destiny draws near, the priests of the City of Truth, in the throne room guarding the main domain, wantonly humiliate the warriors' honor.

"why?"

With the help of the true god, Isaac finally stood in the throne room of the main domain and asked the age-old question: "The Norwick family has never been merciful, so why did you give up the hunt for psionicists?"

This question has been weighing on the minds of the priests of the City of Truth for a thousand years.

"Uh……"

Norwick tilted his head back, keeping his neck away from the light blade, and after a long pause, slowly said, "My ancestors realized the danger of psionics and purged all psionicists, but they also saw the necessity of psionics."

“If we encounter an enemy that requires psychic powers to fight, you will be our last hope.”

"In your mage tower, there should be a leather agreement tucked inside a book. A secret agreement signed by the first priest of the City of Truth and my ancestor."

As he spoke, he suddenly paused, his cloudy eyes looking at Aysaka: "I just didn't expect that the force that was supposed to fight against evil would instead side with evil ahead of time."

Norwick looked at the bird-like creature in its magnificent priestly robes with pity in his eyes; he was just a pitiful fool being toyed with by the gods.

"You have also betrayed the priests' original intentions. They wanted to use a long time to eliminate our hatred and hoped that we could stand together to fight against evil."

His weak voice continued to speak. Isaac gradually stood there, stunned, as the mutations on his body faded and he returned to human form.

“Your skills are not up to par, and you cannot understand the true meaning of the priesthood. Instead, you worship the gods and are corrupted by the power of darkness.”

"No! No! You can't shake my will!" Isaac's pale face flushed red, and his eyes blazed with fury: "Our faith for thousands of years, our faith in the gods for revenge."

"Cough...cough...thousands of years of worshipping gods?"

Norwick coughed and looked at the pitiful people below the stage: "Then why are you the only one who received a response from the gods?"

These words struck Isaac like a thunderbolt, making him dizzy, his already pale face turning even whiter, and his body momentarily swaying as if about to collapse.

"No, I don't believe it."

Isaac, his face filled with terror, retreated step by step until he touched the stone pillar behind him, as if finding support: "You can't shake my will!"

He recalled his teacher's last words on his deathbed: "Those who believe in God will ultimately have nothing."

He always thought it was the teacher mocking the Night Guardians, and despising those who did not believe in the truth.

I never imagined that it was a warning to myself.

In King Norwick's mind, the message from the true god confirmed that he had not lied. Isaac could even sense that behind the veil of reality, the Lord of Change was in high spirits, with the excitement of a prank being exposed.

"God is testing the believers' piety. He wants to see if the believers can withstand the test after the truth is revealed."

The priest talked to himself, using words to strengthen his heart and suppress his doubts about God.

To prove piety.

He knelt down again, banging his head on the ground nine times, his tone even more resolute: "I still offer my body and soul, I prostrate myself without the slightest regret. I have nothing left but faith in the true God."

Inside the throne room, Isaac's comical performance was like an intermission arranged by the gods, a way to pass the time while waiting for the main show.

The Traveler's Hall. The teleporter flashed with lightning, and after a blinding white light, Doom and Harlan appeared from the teleportation beam.

Doom opened his eyes and confirmed that he had returned to the Guardian Domain. A guard wearing white power armor with the blue Norwick family crest on his shoulder armor and a blue cloak quickly came to greet him.

"My lord, I have been waiting for you for a long time."

Although his facial expression was not visible, his hurried tone and uneasy movements made him seem very anxious.

"Captain, let's talk as we walk."

Doom went to the throne room first. He had received the king's decree, and the first thing he was to do upon returning was to go to the throne room to see his father.

"Isaac and several traitorous guards, who have kidnapped the King and Queen, are waiting for you in the throne room."

The captain of the throne guard spoke urgently, his teeth clenched as he spoke.

For thousands of years, no Night Watcher had ever betrayed the Norwick family, and he longed to kill the traitor immediately and wash away the Night Watcher's shame.

Upon hearing this, Doom exchanged a glance with Harlan, and quickened his pace.

The situation has gradually shifted towards the edge of the unknown, and the answers to the mysteries can only be found in the throne room.

Where is Ennio?

"The prince is also in the throne room." The captain of the guard hesitated for a moment, as he himself was unsure of what had happened to the eldest prince.

Rebellion is meaningless in the defense of the main domain. The Night Guard are loyal to King Norwick. Without the abdication or designation of a king, the usurper has no legitimacy.

The Night Guards will simply rush in and tear the usurper to pieces, avenging their loyal king.

The group strode quickly to the throne room in a fast car, as no one was in charge of the situation.

"Where is Flano Norwick?"

Harlan asked in the car, puzzled, "At such a crucial moment, why is the second prince nowhere to be found?"

"I don't know." The captain of the guard shook his head, equally puzzled: "Only King Norwick knows the whereabouts of the second prince."

A few minutes later, Doom, keeping pace with the two of them, finally arrived at the throne room.

"Don't act rashly!"

Isaac wiped the blood from his forehead; the wound had healed. He felt the tremor in Norwick's mind, and it issued a sharp warning.

Inside the throne room, the Night Guard, possessed by the Keeper of the Secrets, pressed the light blade in his hand even closer to Norwick's neck.

Because Doom is too powerful, he must be wary of him.

The invisible chains forged from the love of King Norwick and Queen Daisy are stronger than any steel and powerful enough to suppress Doom's power.

It seemed that everything was settled, and Doom was like a butterfly caught in a spider's web, with the gods waiting for him to bow down and submit.

The instant Doom's figure appeared at the throne gate, everyone's and even the demons' gazes were drawn to that tall figure.

The Great Demon Keeper of the Secrets was completely focused, watching his every move, not daring to look away.

In such a tense moment, time seemed to slow down considerably because of the man's appearance.

Doom's view was blocked by the door, and the first person he saw was Daisy, who was unharmed.

This relieved him, and as his gaze gradually approached the throne, Doom suddenly heard a sharp roar:

"Do not!!!!!!"

(Guys, my head is about to explode! The place I live in is an echo alley, it's like there's a banging sound inside my head!)
